- So it's been quite a while, I've not been playing really at all these days, but I really wanted to see how the new changes played out this patch. From the small amount of time I've played and that only on magicka nb, I think the combat and balance is in the best place it has been in some time.
These are just a couple quick clips from an afternoon of build testing, far from great, but I wanted to put something out to showcase the patch and a new build I'm working on before I leave town for the next 6 weeks. Large shout out to Xinithisis Gaming the OG 2h magicka melee nb and KenaPKK for putting me in the right direction with this build after my hiatus. Both channels linked below:

A note about the build:
It's getting there, I'm currently in 7 light because I don't have any undaunted passives, I think it would be best 5 light 1 heavy 1 medium but really needs testing. Also, I've no mages guild passives, no alchemy passives. With all 3 of those the max magicka and damage will be better and so will sustain and survivability, though, as you can see, if played right you're very hard to kill and the burst is there. Also, all purple gear, minus gold weapons.

5 war maiden (front bar) sharpened sword
2 blood spawn
5+ impen I have 1 infused head piece with tri stat glyph, everything else +magicka enchanted. Jewelry is 2 spell dmg 1 magicka regen. Increase spell damage glyph on 2h, back bar needs and enchant probably stam recovery / disease / I don't know yet.

Haha wow I was thinking the same, from RNG I got the WM 2H Sharpened sword and no inferno was was going to see if i can actually use it! Thanks for show casing this!

Destro is definitely stronger, but 2h Melee is its own play style and a lot of fun
BRKN GLSS Yeahh I agree I haven't come to try it yet but thought I could make it work until I get that inferno staff drop!
Any thoughts on using the 2h ultimate? My tooltip is higher then my incap is and I'm sitting at almost 40k magicka
PS4 Foz0nline haven't tried it. Maybe really good though, I'm using soul harvest because it's cheap and helps me keep befoul on my target
BRKN GLSS Good point, going to have a play about and get used to the playstyle, I'm fairly new to the mag blade in general anyway so have to play around a bit

I don't what's best honestly, but I'll bet 2h performs the worst out of the 3. Destro is certainly easier. And dw has more overall damage and allows for an extra item slot which is better for min/maxing. 2h is just different and I had fun with it
BRKN GLSS thx for reply. I'm testing 2h and I like it. I'm not a fan of destro. How much more dmg is duel swords u think on average? the sword dmg passive works I tested.
No problem. Twin blade and blunt is I think 2.5% each sword? and 2h is 3%? So 5% vs 3%. I'd be tempted to test duel daggers or 1 dagger 1 sword. You also have to consider that in the case of this build I could have war maidens on both bars which would significantly increase the damage from my swallow soul and my heals. Kena ( his channel link in this video description) just uploaded a new gameplay video with some quick set suggestions at the end, he's who you should be asking as he is currently playing and testing and has far more concrete numbers and I only played this build for 2-3 days.

Nice build is this on cp or non cp camp..? Is your resto defending, or sharpened with swallow soul? And if u used dw how would you set up ur sets to have war maiden on both bars..? Thanks a lot
Luukas Harlin thank you, this was with CP, would have to go atronach Mundus or use more reduce /recovery glyphs for no CP, very easy though. Transmutation jewelry so cheap to keep 2 sets

What do you think of amberplasm/warmaiden/bloodspawn using dw?!?!?
J0L0PPY Gaming that will probably better and I'd at least test it but i just can't be bothered to farm amberplasm. Duel wield will be more overall damage but you'll miss on burst from the 2h passive follow up and Destro will just be better all around, Melee is very fun though. The benefit of Duel wield is getting to have war maiden on both bars, though amberplasm is what I'd want active on both bars
Hmm I'm currently running that but with julianos instead of war maiden due to not having morrowind. I just cant seem to find the right bar set-up for skills I'm constantly switching out skills and trying new ones. The DW weaving is so buggy and terrible half my light attacks don't even land, I don't even think it even registers because It doesn't say "dodged" when I swing them it doesn't show anything so procing my enchantments are hard. So when i seen this I thought to myself, that this is very interesting. the weaving must be hell of a lot more nice! I'm a big fan of the melee mag nb so I'm trying to somehow make this work in some way
Right on, havn't tried duel wield in a minute but I'm pretty happy with my bars, I only wish I could fit cripple
BRKN GLSS if only there were more slots I keep swapping out skills to fit that in there aswell, only thing that seems to make sense for me is replacing with degen and running spell power pots but I really don't know
J0L0PPY Gaming maybe, I hate pot reliant builds though. Before this I was running a heavy build with seducer and rattlecage. Maybe 5 rattlecage front bar 5 trans back bar, using rattlecage chest 2h and jewelry. Trans resto and 4 body pieces, can still fit 2pc monster. Has the same problem as the warmaiden set up ( no spell damage on back bar) but can drop entropy for cripple. I think 5impen is good if you're running trans, so reenforced heavy chest, infused legs or head with a tri stat, rest magicka glyphed Impen, keep the thief mundus and play with jewelry glyphs to get your sustain/damage balance. Test monster sets, I still think blood spawn would be best but I havnt tested everything

Because 2 sets are active front bar
A few reasons. I'm broke, 8 tempering alloy is cheaper than 16. Also, there are 2 key 2h passives that I'm working with apart form the 5% damage bonus, Follow up, and battle rush. Watch my buffs after a fully charged heavy, also watch my incaps after fully charged heavy. Then watch my buffs after a kill.
I have a hard time managing stamina this patch after the siphoning nerf, which is what really prompted the 1 piece bloodspawn, was using 1 kena as well, but really, the bloodspawn proc is too valuable, more so than the spell dmg buff from 1 kena. When BS proc + trans is procced + resto ulti ticking and vampire undeath working, you can take surprising amount of hits while in 7 light ( though ideally, as I mentioned in description 5 / 1 / 1 is the goal ) Blood spawn is amazing as it alows for more incaps and resto ulti's as well, it's been deemed a DK mosnter set, but it's amazing for magi nb too for the massive resistances, nearly doubling my physical resistance on my 2h bar.
The one thing I think dual wield would be better for is allowing me to have war maiden on both bars ( my swallow soul barely tickles because no war maiden on that bar) as well as a 2 pc monster set while keeping trans back bar, and that may be the way to go... but it's also fun getting whispers from confused dead enemies =]
That said, I want to test some other sets while keeping 2h ... won't have time until August at the earliest though.
