Husqvarna SVARTPILEN 401 2024 | First Ride Impressions

- Hello!
The all new 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is here.
I got the chance to ride this new motorcycles for an entire day at the launch at Pune. The previous generation of the Huskys were too quirky and too small and did not do well neither in India not overseas. So, Husqvarna got down to redesigning for 2024 both the Svartpilen and Vitpilen based on feedback from across the world.
And, have they done a good job? Find out in this video as I share my thoughts on my first ride experience of this stylish motorcycle.
Cheers!

No other reviewer even cared to explain what the motorcycle name is all about. Thanks for starting with the history of the company and what the name of the bike actually means. As usual love your reviews. They are fantastic and to the point.
Many thanks! 🙏🏻
Very true.
As an owner of the Last gen Vitpilen 250, I feel Husqvarna listened to the users a bit too much and made the 250 and 401s as a KTM with a skin. Practicality was not the focus of the last gen and I loved that. HappyI got one of the last batch of the gem Vitpilen 250 Cafe Racer 🤍
👍
I wanna buy one which one is good vitpilian or first gen Duke
Exactly practicality was not the focus on the last gen but the uniqueness and compact stature was one of a kind which I really loved. Really they should have launched the new Vitpilen 401 in India. Heard in international media review the seating posture is slightly different than the Svart and that nice paint job on Vit - I love.
Ride and then choose. They are a bit different in posture, size and feel.
It didn’t do much?, but it did win the entry performance bike of the year .
As an interceptor owner for the past 1 year and 6k kms done, if I was looking for a mid size bike today......this would surely be in my shortlist.....this looks so much better than any of the KTMs.......this reminds me of the Yamaha MT01.....
Give it a test ride and you’ll likely be impressed. Cheers!
1 year only 6k kms done ⁉️⁉️⁉️
Hey Bosky please do one full length video about all safety gears like helmet, jacket, riding pants or jeans, shoes etc...
Noted.
That will be much appreciated sir. Kindly do a budget friendly one as well as all the way up the rack@@bigbearbangalore
Bossky! Whatta review. Finally after a long wait and multiple tweets and prayers it’s here, the 401 is here.
🙏🏻👍
Out of all reviews , yours is best in class with fun and clarity. Thinking of exchanging munch 350 with this 401.
Thanks. 👍
That’s one really good looking motorcycle. Grab rail as you mentioned and rear tail section looks out of place. Once those are fixed (a tail tidy maybe with a husqy250 like tyre hugger with indicators on it) it’s a beauty.
👍
Just found your channel. Fantastic content. I have a 2021 Svartpilen. Mainly commuting but also for attending rallies. Cracking bike, love it. Previously had Harleys, Triumphs and my favourite a Yamaha XJR1300. The Svartpilen currently works for me.
Thanks for sharing.
I landed on this channel by chance. And I m absolutely loving the channel 😊
🙏
Great review and I love the new looks of Svartpilen also. You got the Husqvarna history spot on, you might be interested that Husqvarna made street bikes in the 50-60-ties called Silver pilen and Guld pilen, single cylinder motorcycles. Very popular bikes here in Sweden back then.
Thanks. And thanks again for the info! Cheers!
Thank you for this review. I am from Slovakia (Europe). I was looking for something like an Adventure motorcycle. At first, I fell in love with the Honda CB500X, then the Honda NX 500 came out. I didn't want a classic naked bike because I wanted to travel with the motorcycle, not just commute to work. No other bike met these requirements - it had to be small, light, and capable of handling light off-road terrain. But when I saw this motorcycle, I was blown away... it is exactly what I need and want to have. I admit, I don't have a motorcycle yet, but I know this will be my first one. It will take a while to save up for it, but I don't want any other. Your review answered all my questions about why this motorcycle should be my first. Thank you, and maybe in a year and a half, I will send my first pictures :)
Thanks. Great to hear. Thanks for your comment. Looking forward.
Nice coverage and review and great camera. picture clarity is fantastic..👍
Thanks a ton.
Thats what i was looking for, a perfect review , things as it should be. Thanks a ton.

Very comprehensive video. I enjoyed watching. I’m considering upgrading from my current 2022 401. You’ve persuaded me.
Thanks for the review and advice.
By the way, your country looks beautiful. Very similar to my home countries mountain ranges in Wales. Except better weather than us. Good health and take care.
Many thanks for the kind comment. Best wishes. Regards.
Intelligent and insightful, enjoyed your video thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What can I say... The clarity on your explanation ❤
🙏
very crisp & informative impression Sir , thank you
👍
got a svartpilen 401 a month and half ago and it never disappoints in city rides and is very comfy on light offroads as well...very good power and response...plus this review was a pretty good validation considering this was my first bike ever
👍
U know sir, we the new gen, new age teachers can't go with Duke for our teacher image, as the brand got a sick image. But we love the machine. For a teacher like me it's the perfect match & i was finding a perfect suit for me. It's the suit for me. A sobar, subtle, descent gentleman looking bike with madness inside. Husqvarna just made my choice s come true. Love ur content sir, love from West Bengal 🫶🏼
Great to read your comment. Thanks for the thoughtful words. Regards.
😂
I love your reviews Sir, no crap at all. Your opinion is actually much relatable..just noticed the last final frame says Svartpilen 410..probably came from your love towards Himalayan 410..again lots of respect for your work..more power to you
Thanks.
Pardon the Typo.
Best review given on this bike, I enjoyed watching the video. superb...
Glad you liked it!
Oh that was like 777th like 😂. Your reviews are Awesome as always ❤ and sir you are always on point ! Thank u so much for your videos 🙏🏼
So nice of you. Thanks.
Good review. I own the Svartpilen 250. Most 'professional' reviewers complain about vibration. Your comment is spot on. A large single cylinder engine is going to have some amount of vibration. Deal with it.
👍
The watch connection was just tooooooo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥♥️♥️ love the video
🙏
Reassuring to know the 440x remains on your list ahead of the Svartpilen..
Me too..even after taking delivery of my green Scrambler nxt week, i wont be forgetting about that 440x powerplant....the whole package actually.
Theres something wholesome and robust about it, seems indestructible
Indeed!
@@bigbearbangaloreBut Why!
Am not yet a fan of street or cruiser motorcycles. So others styles take preference.
The way you review. Amazing. 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot 🙏
Bosky your review was awesome man
🙏
Great review :)
Thanks!
I was quite fascinated by this brand when the first commercial rolled out on Bajaj's website. It felt incomparable, compact yet powerful, looked unique on streets. Somebody would have already placed both models for side by side comparison, that would be interesting to watch ❤
👍
The location is lovely. ♥️
And yes, buy one!
🙏🏻😀
Loved the video sir ❤ btw sir what about the new Aprillia Rs 457 ? any reviews on that ? 😊
Thanks. Haven’t ridden that yet. Hope to.
Replacing the front with 19 :P and taking this around will be so much fun!
Ah ha! Spoken like an experienced motorcyclist! Great idea! 🙌
Greetings, lovely review.
What is the quality of the plastic tank shrouding like?
Usually they're held together by tiny clips that break over time and leave an ugly panel gap.
Thanks. They seems quite ok. I tugged at them a bit and they stayed in place.
Loved ur briefing SIR,still I have to learn more ABT motorcycle, still for sometimes ABT 6mnths i can't ride but I am happy watching ur reviews,I will learn more ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤and 1more thing sir,A BULLET FIRED FROM A GUN IS KINECTIC ENERGY.... ❤ UR STYLE
🙏🏻👍
It's my dream bike 😊
I know soon I'll get one thanks for the video
👍
Loved the review, thank you.
Would this be a bad idea for someone who's comfortable riding speed 400 but doesn't own a motorcycle yet?
This would be my first motorcycle
This can be a great first motorcycle. Light, easy to handle and looks cool. Better than the Speed 400.
Love your diction and seamlessly unscripted way of narrating. Very good review sir 👌
🙏
Nice video Bosky ❤ . Wondering if you could make a video on the shock absorbers and demystify the terms ie damping ,preload, rebounds .... for enlightning your fans
Great suggestion! Thanks.
I am having a first gen Fz 16 , looking forward for a new one, anticipating the 401 launch from 2022 ! However economically i was skeptical and oscollating whether to buy new bike or not ! But the part you said about younger and stronger , it really motivated me to start a piggy bank account for this beauty !
🙌
Just bought a Svartpilen 200, here in the Philippines (no 250's available here). For what I use it for. City riding, with the occasional ride out, it's perfect. Outside of the city, the road quality can be incredibly variable concrete/tarmac to dirt and back again within a kilometer. Riding much faster than 100 kph is not advisable, and the little Svart can do 100 kph all day long. I did consider the 401 (although the updated version isn't available here yet). But decided that the smaller Husky did what I needed it to, at a much lower price. Most of my longer rides are solo. If I was regular taking a pillion any distance, then I would probably have gone for the 401. Just for that little bit more oomph on the hills.
Hi. Thaks for sharing your experiences. Regards.
❤❤ superb review 👍🏻
🙏
Your reviews are always worth the time sir. I myself is super confused btw scrambler 400 and x440. when u sat on x440, didnt u felt like u r going inwards. The seat is uncomfortable, since i'm 182 cm tall, i found the x440 not very comfortable....... its like my butt wants to go back on the seat, but the cut on the seat isnt allowing me to do so.. what r ur views
Personal preference. Buy the one you feel more comfortable on.
I would Love to see in that colour combination❤❤.
So I wish you may seriously consider your new piggy bank 😊😅
And also congratulations for your new startup (talking about that caffe) 😝
😀🙌
*Hey Man" I feel Like Watching this like the All time Classic "The Great Escape Movie" True Well done Review " Great keep it up👍*
Oh wow! Many thanks.
I may have missed it if you said already, but did you add the crash bars or were they on there factory? If you added, which ones did you use?
It’s as it came from the factory.
Sir you really fall in love with this motorcycle😆, actually me too 🥰 they really did a fine job sir
Yes, true!
Suspension and quickshifter are big positives. Also glad the 2024s finally get a TFT screen. I hated the old round LCD
👍
Great review 👍
Loved your talking style 🤠👍
The only thing I don't like in this bike are the TUBE TYRES.
Only side stand with tube tyres will make it a major pain. Also if I wanna use this like a scrambler I need to be anxiety free about getting a puncture in some rough terrain.
What do you think?
Thanks.
Agree. The tube type are a concern on the 401. And for someone like me who’s been riding tube tyres for decades, it kind of matters less. But can understand and respect the concern of newer riders about the lack of a tubeless system.
@@bigbearbangalore I'm planning to buy this bike. So far I've come to understand that I can buy the alloys of Vitpilen 250 and install them on the Svartpilen 401. Do you think it's a good idea?
Or I should stick with stock spoke rims.
Best review out there.
🙏
I used to own one in Singapore for weekend cafe hunting. Even thought the previous machine was smaller, it was taller and fit me well at 179cm. The gearbox ifelt vastly refined compared to thereby duke. its a good fun small bike and easy to live with. Yes, its a bicycle....
👍
Liked the Watch reference at the end. Casio and Seiko. I thought you would say Casio and Tissot 🙂
🙌
Coming from the himalayan, those switches make me so jealous. Both this and the new duke are really premium looking motorcycles that youll admire everytime you see them.
Also do wait for the hero maverick to drop before putting money down for the harley.
Mavrik is already launched. Before this... I mean the reviews and walk-around
Sure..Maverick may be a better tourer than the 440x...
Just that the front suspension with traditional telescopic forks is a bit of letdown...also the 440x looks way more solid
Agree. And the Maverik did not enthuse me much. But lemme see it in real to know better.
@@bigbearbangalore Thanks Saar!
Will be waiting for that evaluation!
Whenever I watch your video I got a big smile on my face by default 😊 hello .... 👋
🙏🏻😀
Thnx bosky, i am thinking to buy the bike only because of it uniqueness and very unconventional design, wrap it in its traditional colour and make it more unique. But there is another gem i am waiting for too the bsa scrambler 650.
👍
Sadly their junior siblings failed to make any impact in the Indian market. Hope the warmed up 400 cc bike market accepts and elevates this particular bike to its deserved perch!
Just wished they left the fuel tank to be a metal one.
Happy riding and hope to see the detailed review of its performance!
Yes! Agree.
The tank is metal with the plastic shroud.
Excellent comparison with Casio and Seiko watch brands, always love your humour.
Glad you like them!
I loved ur review sir 🫡 well im in the market for a 400cc performance bike, and the only reason y i didnt go for d duke390 is cus of its image and flashy color scheme.. ths svartpilen401 seems to be on d verge of making my fantasy a reality- of having dt d390 engine in a mature, subtle attire 😅 however, i just hopee that they allow retrofitting the vitpilen250 alloys on ths, which is one basic need for me
👍👍👍
Great video as usual. Bosky: Your opinion on NX500 pls. Considering buying it. Pls share your views in a video
Go for it!!!! 👍
@@bigbearbangalore Thank you, Sensei.
Hi bosss(ky). I accept your view about the motorcycles people normally think about a car in the price of some 2.5 l.but bike is the best buddy to roam with. ❤
🙏
Blue / white would look so good on that beauty
Indeed!
10:11 Absolutely agree about the weight to power ratio!
👍
Amazing review. I am looking to buy it. I need one question. Should I change it to alloys for tubeless? Or is it alright with this set up? Could you please guide me for the same?
If you don’t mind the investment and the change in looks, then alloys is the way to go.
@@bigbearbangalore Perfect. Thanks a lot. 😀
Let it be as it is bro...I own a husky and I would say go for stock only...one thing I learned is that husky s are different than KTM, yes they say they are same but noooo hey are not..
@@ranjeetbirajdar I also own Svartpilen 250. Looking to change to 401 as I was waiting for this for a long time now. However this tubed spoked wheels is something of a concern during road trips.
You can replace them with tubeless ones from Vitpilen 250.
That a gorgeous looking jacket n helmet!
Thanks.
@@bigbearbangalore can you share the details of those?

👍
Hey bosky, do you have any idea about the weight diffrence when the spoked rims are swapped with alloy of KTM or Svitpilen 250??
Sorry I don't.
Awesome review ! as you said, KTM looks are a bit too edgy for me as well, so booked a husky 401, dealer said that alloys of vitpilen can be put for an extra charge of 12k rupees.
Good choice! Best wishes.
this sounds like a fun bike!
It is!
It's an absolute bargain! Such a beautiful motorcycle, with top class built quality, superior performance and extremely appealing looks! It fits my purpose and personality perfectly; keeping it in preference for upgrading from Gixxer sf!

Awesome Bosky you missed out the Bofors though 😂😂

Bosky. Please correct the typo in your video name. It's the 401. Great video / review as always.
My bad. Corrected. Thanks.

Will you be doing a review of aprillia 457, Looking forward to hear your thoughts on the sub 500 twin cylinder.
Not likely since a not much into sport motorcycles. Although I would love to ride one just to know what ir feels like.
Gorgeous❤
Yes!
Any thoughts on the spied retro by Aprilia with same twin cylinder engine?
Haven't seen it yet!
My gosh , I’m so glad I watched this .

Unique presentation, you can sell it on paper, But still has fantastic styling, off course it has got it's racing DNA in all sense hiding. Wow. Really close to my taste.

That check-in and excess baggage reference😂❤

always a pleasure to hear you speak about bikes, but is it legal to repaint bikes in india??? u should definitely buy one and repaint vlog about it.
There's a process to change the color in the RTA records.
you should review the vitpilen 250 too, and start a second piggybank for 401 and paint it too
😅
as a commuter bike or small touring bike, beauty
Yes!!
Please do drop the shoot location if the general public is allowed to visit
Background looks marvelous for chilling a couple of hours in the morning after a small ride.
It’s near Mulshi Dam, off the highway.
This one looks more tempting than the Gen 3 Dukes 390. I am excited about the vitpilon 250 though
yups!
Was off grid for some time. But back to your channel catching up. The next time you are in MH14, we should meet. I am just a stone's throw away from the Bajaj and Tata plants 😉
That would be cool!
@@bigbearbangalore🙏 Hopefully when the 2025 390 ADV launches. Cruise Control barrutte. Namma old 390 with 790's cruise control vs new compare madona.
quick question - why x440 and why not the shotgun, i mean you have him452,scrambler400, so why not a 650 now?
That 650 platform for me is a bit too heavy and hence a bit too lethargic for the size and cost!
Where I am at the moment in my motorcycling life, I prefer something light even if it means letting go of some performance.
@@bigbearbangalore very true good answer, me on the other hand riding 80km everyday on hunter feel like i should get shotgun650cc just for leisurely weekend ride (solo) , since bsa is taking forever to launch goldstar , yes 240 kg is q lot to tackle if by chance you hit a neutral on incline u turn🙏

Hello Bosky,
What's your pick for touring among Svartpilen 401, (or Vitpilen 250 2024), Scrambler 400X, Himalayan 450 and KTM Adventure 390/250 (or KTM Duke 390/250)?
Thanks so much.
Touring = H450
@@bigbearbangalore Thanks for the response!
Yellow Husky would look so beautiful 💛
👍
BOSKY...They nailed the model and you nailed the review 👌 Question??? Why do you not compare this to X440 or Triumph Scrambler 400, as per speces its them and more....???
Thanks.
Too much time and energy is spent on comparisons. The 3 motorcycles are quite different. It's like comparing Upma to Dosa to Idly. All are good and personal preferences.
Hello, do you feel it is possible to live with the tubed tyres if my usage is only in the city? I hear there is some fluid that you can fill in your tubes to make it puncture resistant.
I can live with tube type. Yes the tubeless is better but when rhat option is not available, we must manage.
@@bigbearbangalore Thanks. Sorry if this sounds like a noob question but why don’t we have tubeless tyres for spoked wheels?
@@Orsino14spokes means a lot of holes, holes that are difficult to be airtight hence the tube
10:27 That line got me rolling. so true btw lighter is fun and build quality should hold the precedent over build material.

Bhai aap ko triumph scrm 400 or Himalayan 450 me se ladakh jaisa ya highway touring ke liye ek stable or smooth ke sath comfortable bike choose karna ho to aap kon sa choose karoge?
Axtually i am asking to influence my choice........
H450 is my choice.
Scrambler with that underbelly exhaust?
I love cross rivers and i usually cross back and forth several times just to enjoy process.
With this bike which exhaust is under water level.....?
Good question to ask Bajaj. 👍
Put the 300R instead of 300F. Always loved the husky 401 glad its here. would have loved even more if it was the previous version.
👍
As a Canadian, I'd like to pass on that Huskies are famous here for their older 2 stroke off-road bikes and their 2 stroke chainsaws, with almost cult following for both. Today the bikes are more known outside the major cities, both the 2 and 4 stroke, by the trail rider crowd, while most regular folks hearing the name will think you are speaking of lawnmowers or chainsaws. It is nice to see that the brand is getting their brand known for city or country riding, yet be stylish and quirky enough to be fresh. Very Ikea Backroad Cafe Racer. I wanted a '23, but I might wait for the '24.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!
Quick question Bosky, if you get a flat on a trip, what are you supposed to do???? Most mechanics will also search for the centre stand in a bike like this. I remeber fixing a flat on the xpulse was an effort
Yes. Needs mental preparation and planning to face such situations.
is this good enough or should we go for twin cylinder from re ??
I prefer this for its light weight and easy handling on a types of terrain.
Can you please suggest, which is the best Tyre's for royal Enfield classic 350 dual channel abs tube-less one
Any popular tyre brand is ok. You can check on Reise or Maxxis.
dear bosky, from where you are buying the motorcycle riding gears ? very nice attires always
From stores in Bangalore. Thanks.
@@bigbearbangalore thanks for the quick reply bosky . 🥰🫡 you are an inspiration
Nice review Bosky ❤. Want your suggestion that is VITPILEN 250 good for touring or just its good only for city rides. Please help me out.

Problem with 250 version was it's ground clearance. Hope they did something about it.
I think they have.
On the Svartpilen 250, the tank rack has magnets. So you can anchor a tank bag with magnets on the tank rack. It is probably the same on the 401.
Ok noted
