I missed Cat so much, it's fitting she said this to Kara in the finale

She was good. But Calista didn’t want to relocate when production moved to Vancouver
Shame they had to write off the character. Cat is such a great character in a "Devil wears Prada" sorta way.

Yes, I missed her too, but even when the Martin manhunter pretended to be Kara, I don't think it fooled her for a second. She knew Kara was Supergirl even through the ruse.
Notice how the entire story line became instantly more engaging and interesting when Cat Grant came back into the picture??? I wish Calista Flockhart had never left! She was perfect in this role!
Right Cat, Lena and Kara are my favorite characters and no that everyone is on here the show feels complete

Why did she leave ?
When Supergirl was with CBS, they were filming in LA. When the show moved to the CW, CW films a lot of their shows in Vancouver and that would require their actors to move. Callista, Peter and Jenna had families and I am guessing that they didn’t want to uproot them.
All I will say is that some characters in some TV shows are like a fine expensive bottle of alcohol that you only drink in specific circumstances, times, places with specific people 😊
Cat Grant/ Calista Flockhart is that to Supergirl 😊
Best surprise EVER!! Caliista Flockhart absolutely made that character her own. Even though she was only in the first season full time and a little bit from then on, she remains my absolute favorite character in the show! I love Cat Grant! :)
She's the best depiction of Cat Grant ever.

I absolutely love how based and powerful Cat Grant is. Cat knows that she is talking to an alien who is basically a god under a yellow sun, but still shamelessly pronounces Kara's name wrong on purpose, and is never afraid to deliver healthy doses of tough love to Kara.
IKR, it was also revealed that in Supergirl season 6 that the team wanted to use an experimental satellite to absorb a portion of the sun energy by means of solar flare which would then be channeled directly into Supergirl. The result would increase all her powers a million-fold, not only that it would make her immune to 5th dimension magic basically it will make her invincible a goddess. The reason that Supergirl declined was because causing a solar flare will damage the sun which would take six months for it to recharge and plunge the Earth in chaos because all things depend on the sun.
The point I am making is like you said under a yellow sun depending on how much power she draws she has the power to be a god and yet Cat purposely gets her name wrong lol.
@@cainabel2009 Yeah, I watched the whole season, as well as the whole series LOL. And that bit with absorbing the yellow sun was poorly executed imo. I honestly thought that procedure would turn Kara into Supergirl Prime One Million, and I was genuinely excited to see that happen. But, it ended up being nothing more than a teaser. The threat of deactivating the sun for 6 months should not even have been an issue, because I'm sure Brainy could have reverse-engineered the original machine to siphon the energy out of Kara and back into the sun.

She’s the only good thing about the series.
Stopped watching around end of 3rd season...but yeah, Cat mispronouncing "Kara" was always good fun to me. As if she understood the mixed nature of Kara's two lives equals something kind of similar but not either. She seems to pronounce it correctly when she's making a point.
After all those years she still calls her Kera even though she has no problems pronouncing supergirl.
I thought the same thing except that Cat did brand her as Supergirl so she wouldn't get that wrong

Deep down, Cat Grant really cared about Kara. That's why she gave her so much crap.
She says this in season 1 episode 4 (Livewire):
"Everything I am, everything I have, is because of her constant "pushing," let's call it. She was never satisfied with me, and so I've never satisfied with myself. Which is why I keep pushing, too. Myself, and all the people I care about."
AND didn't fire her
She clearly knew from the start but kept it to herself, she was hard on Kara because she cared, in season 2 she confirmed it and also she knew James was Guardian just by his eyes, looking past the perception filter is her superpower hence why she was so great at being the Queen of all media, Calista Flockhart nailed it!
And yet, those glasses that fail to work for Kara, completely disguise Clark from Cat's perception "power". LOL.
When did she confirm in season 2 that she knew?

I wouldn't say "from beginning", but it was obvious by Season 2 that she was basically teasing her and humoring Kara when she had her excuses etc. So it's probably not glasses, but an educated guess also based on couple of things she noticed about her.
@@crucisnh Yeah but she had the hots for Clark so definitely another layer of interference at play in their relationship, plus a longer running, deeper back story of cover ups for superman's identity compared to Supergirl even in the Arrowverse,
I'm surprised that they managed to get Cat Grant back for the series finale. I thought for sure she wasn't coming back as she wasn't announced beforehand.

That final scene, it’s possible it could have been shot later when they were back in the US too, so they can both be in the final scene together
I'm so happy Calista Flockhart got to do a cameo for the finale- Cat Grant was one of the hearts of this show, so it was hard to lose her so early on. But, the fact that Cat is becoming more and more of a bigger character in the comicbooks than she was initially, speaks miles about how Calista Flockhart really sold this role.
It's been almost 5 years and she got back into character Jerry Lin Ryan when they cast her back as seven of nine in the Picard series she told the producers that she can't do that anymore is it where you talking about I said I don't know how to do the voice the character the mannerism and she tried to do it and she freaked out in the producer told her we want you back Jerry we really do so we going to work a few we're going to get the 79 character back and she said they were very patient and they brought in a stress coach to help her de-stress and get back the character of seven of nine
Supergirl season 6 kara final episode. Cat Grant knew Kara was Supergirl.
I knew she was going to end with “I always have,” because she HAS. Also, kinda wanted to hear her say “yeah I’ve known! Since Season 2!” LOL
She knew in Season 1 when she first sees Supergirl and goes "It's You." She has always known, that is why she was always tough with Kara because Cat knew she was mentoring and molding a superhero. Cat was telling Kara exactly what she needed to hear.

A.) Cat knew from the very first time she saw supergirl in person, note the line delivery of it's you yes she could be saying it's you supergirl but she def knew it was Kara she just played dumb to try and trick her into giving herself away.
B.) She knew James was the guardian right away, cat: thanks James, James: I'm guardian, cat: ohh honey I can see eyes through the silt in your mask
C.) She knew was the flash also pretty quick, as when Kara was asking about seeing Barry off she says we'll tell Barry have fun zipping around in his red suit, and that she can spot the extraordinary pretending to be normal just like that, and that he was so nice and charming he either had to be a superhero or Mormon
The only person she didn't know was superman but she was clouded for her love for Clark-bar

1:50 Love this moment. Cat Grant the entire time since the start of the show was like, "Kira honey, you should have put more thought into your disguise. Simply wearing glasses doesn't do much. Even a toddler could have seen through it". She kept it to herself until Kara was ready/needed comforting advice. My favorite character despite having stopped watching the show after season 3.

Can we appreciate the fact that cat Grant has known that she’s super girl since she took off her glasses in front of her and can we appreciate the fact that she never said anything and she kept her secret and always believed in Cara. It’s heartfelt.

Cat knew Kara was Supergirl from season one and by critiquing the superhero, knew she was giving Kara wisdom that helped form her into who she was in that final scene.
No matter what happens and no matter what people say or do, Melissa Benoist will always be Supergirl in our hearts.

In a Chinese idiom, there was a saying "當千里馬遇上伯樂", it roughly means no matter how great you are, you must meet THE ONE in order for you to reach your full potential. Cat Grant know Kara so well that she is able to see how much greater that Kara can become if she embrace herself in full.
As in our real world, this role has always fall upon your BFF, we get strength from them and thanks to them we could break through the barriers. The writer of this scene is brilliant and beautifully break through the typical hidden identity of our Super Heros.

It's a great, subtle take. We can look at Cat Grant and think "Wow, she is really brave, talking to a superhero like that," and she is, but the alcohol shows her fallibility. Underneath all the bluster, Cat Grant is still scared just like the rest of us.

This show would've really benefitted from Cat Grant being in it throughout. She's very much the same sort of character that Joe West is in Flash - the sensible, grounding one that gives the story a heart and soul without ever feeling tacky. It's great every time she's there, but I do feel like this show always sufferred without her.
Its because the show moved to CW, thus moving production from Los Angeles to Vancouver & Calista didn't wanna uproot her family across the border.
So Cat always knew not just Pre Crisis but In Earth Prime too

Melissa Benoist may be saying goodbye to her show, but she’ll always be Supergirl in our hearts.
What I find the most interesting in here is that in a way you can feel cat's thoughts are the same as the viewers, for whatever the reason people might have (supercorp shipping, not original to the comics, karamel shipping) most of us think that Kara Danvers hasn't been faithful to her true self, and to watch her, all around like wandering it is boring, so I really congrats the actress and the person that created that scene because it totally feels is for us, in the most cat's grant way ;)
Grant was the best character out of the whole show. The actress really made the character her own
This made Cat look more human than at the beginning. To me she seemed rude and stuck up, but Calista really brought the true Ms Grant out and I loved it.
If Cat saw through Kara's "disguise," then I imagine she also knows who Clark really is.
Probably… since she & Clark are cousins & Supergirl & Superman are also cousins I’m sure she easily figured that part out.
She pretty much has the super power of knowing secret identities. Pretty much everyone in the show she's meet with one she knew their identity right away

I stopped watching this show when it only had 2 seasons. I dont know what happened to the show, but I am so happy to see Cat. I'm also glad that Cat knew way before. She's the person that I wanted to know Kara's secret

She did, but I think Kara believes, that Cat believe the little trick she did with having Kara & Supergirl being in the same room at the same time. Kara thought that she believes it, so she didn’t think that she actually know.

I had read before Wynn and James were coming back, but nothing about Cat Grant. I got all excited at the nice surprise cameo.

If you think about it, even though Cat was only on the show for 1/6 seasons, Cat basically raised Kara with tough love and that's why she became a great reporter. She left a big mark on Kara and the show overall and it never felt whole with Cat being away from Catco.
Callista Flockhart was one of the best things about Supergirl in the early seasons. This actress was the star of her own show Ally McBeal a big hit in the late 90s and she seems not to have aged much over the years (now 57), and is married to Harrison Ford. Good to see her as Cat Grant again and having the confidence of Supergirl / Kara on the show. Kara values her opinions.
Cat must have pretended all this time thinking that she didn't know her identity.

Cat may have come off brash, crass and harsh…but when you peel back the layers, and really look at their relationship….Cat genuinely cared about Kara. She always pushed Kara because she knew how much potential she had. And even knowing her secret identity, she chose not to tell the world to protect Kara.

Kat Grant was the best part of that show. She was such a great mentor and made up for so many moments when I thought about stopping watching.
The moment her phone rang the first time, I already knew it was Cat Grant before they showed her face. Kind of expecting it since she was such a big character that everyone loved so much. And it was an amazing series finale, gave closure to Kara and gave her a new life where she can finally embrace her true self

Been binge watching Supergirl for a few weeks now, and while sometimes it gets a little bizarre and you wonder who would authorize such a thing, it has been very fun watching.
Cat Grant already knew who she was, She wanted Kara to see who she really was. ❤
Cat Grant was ALWAYS, Supergirls, Karas, best friend, wheather they knew it or not, why, coz she always gave Kara the tough love that she needed, the good words of wisdon and truely helped her to become a better person and hero, if it was not for Cat, more than anyone else, Kara/supergirl would not have become as good as she was, we all need this Cat Grant in our lives, someone to help us see, become better and stronger thru nothing less than tough love coz its tough love is what helps us see the most andnot the ass licking and on my your right and blah blah blah, to hell with that tough love is always better, but, i did say tough nove, not nasty love/being an ass hole, there is a line and a difference

Great show I really hope they decided to bring super girl back. There's not enough shows with women and lead roles and that last as long as this one did. I'm am upset that they ended the show with such a cliff hanger. There's just so much that could happen.

I think the best part of it is that "Supergirl" started with Cat Grant. It was Cat Grant that gave her the name and publicity that allowed her to turn into the hero that she became. And it ended with Cat Grant giving her advice to expose herself to the rest of the world.
The message here is powerful and I love it.
