  • Hope you guys liked my review of my personal ATV I own and I don't think i said it enough in the video but this machine plows amazingly like a bulldozer and been super reliable for me surprisingly for its age and it not being fuel injected it is very quick and snappy and has more of bottom end torque which is better for plowing. More to come on this ATV on the channel soon so subscribe to see more!!

    Nice review of an older bike. Good to see how well they hold up under normal conditions.

    I have a 2010 Honda Rancher 420 footshift with 18,900Kms on it. It is now Feb 28, 2022. I started it the other day, after sitting for 2 months, and it started right up and purred away in -8C weather. No smoke or ticking issues with the motor. It is the typical Honda red color and in about the same shape (rust, etc.) as your bike. Just yesterday I picked up a 2004 Honda Foreman 450 with only 7500Kms and in phenomenal shape. Can't wait to get a good ride on it and check it out.

    I have a 2001 that has a homemade frame rebuild that got stolen, then got it back, and haven't
    had a single problem with it. It still runs strong at about 47-50 mph top speed

    Very good shape for 20 yrs....I have a 2000 foreman es and still ride it and love it....I bought it in the summer of 99 and it's been a worker....it's all still original except for brakes and wheel bearings and choke cable and muffler baffle is rotted out...I've put 3 batteries in it in 23 yrs.

    Bought a Chinese copy of this bike many years ago, almost identical in appearance, great buy lol, the gear box went after about 17months, so kept it going with just first & reverse, then the starter gave trouble, also leaked oil, no parts to be got for it,so gave up on it , then a great thing happened, someone stole it...best of luck to them.lol..so I bought a Honda 420, have it 11yrs now never gave me a bit of bother, & keep it indoors under lock & key

    In my opinion it should be running like a new one at 1,600 miles. People put so much on how long they've owned one. But the actual miles and usage is what really tells the story. You see, I have family who have honda's that are 10 years 15 years even 30 years old and not a one of them have over 500-1,000 miles on them. As for mine, well I have two 2016 Honda 420's we bought in late 2016 brand new and as of today we have put over over 3,000 miles on both of them. They've been issue free and we keep up the maintenance which in my opinion is the most important thing you can do for any of them regardless of brand, honda, yamaha, kawasaki, suzuki, polaris. I also own a 2004 Honda 350 Rancher ES with almost 8,000 miles but it has so many issues I just parked it under a tree. It ran good for about 7-8 years but when the problems started they snow balled. You get to a point that they aint worth fixin anymore. So I parked her under a tree to rest in pieces. Its funny. We bought a yamaha grizzly 700 and polaris sportsman 850 2 years ago just to try different machines for once. We have put over 1,000 trail riding miles on them with ZERO problems. My bro in law has a 2001 honda with 400 miles on it and is always saying, "I'd never own a belt drive like that yamaha or polaris, they'll never last like my honda".....Well, they've already gone 2.5 x as far and been used much more than his honda! LOL, I'm not trying to compare anything either, because I own a bunch of honda's. I'm just saying, people sometimes think years mean something when in reality its the usage that counts.

      jtarman70 I agree with you the mileage and upkeep is a big factor. the Rancher has a little over 1700 now sense I recorded this video and I’ve been doing a lot of hard trail riding in those few hundred miles.

      @@BrickNick931 As long as you keep up the maintenance It'll last you a long long time. That was one of the issues with my 2004 Rancher, I didn't always keep the machine up to par and used and abused it on my farm. However, the motor still runs smoke free, uses no oil and everything is in working order except it looks 50 years old and the electrical system has been the big reason I just parked it. It got a new fuel petcock, gas lines and a new carburetor 3 years ago and besides a few squeaks it was up an running good once again. But last year it started having solenoid, battery and starter issues and shortly after it had carb problems again. So back under the tree it went, LOL

    Keep that foot brake greased if you have one of these. Im in the process of getting one off now. Been heating and beating and pb blasting for 3 days now and I've moved it 2 inches with a crowbar. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day it finally turns loose

    • @BrickNick931
      @BrickNick931  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hit it with wd-40 and let it sit with it will help! Trust me I’ve had one that was still before and did that to free it up and worked well then once it was fully able to move I put real grease on the shaft

    Just bought 2003 rancher es 350 for grandson.
    Servicing: oil, filter, air filter, etc.
    Was asked what the red plug on front wheels where for. Didn't know what to tell him. Someone help me out. Thanks

      If it’s the plug on the brake drum you remove that and use a flathead to turn the gear and adjust the brake pads

      It doesn't have a radiator and radiator overflow tank as it's air cooled.

    They're not 350 cc. Something like 328 cc, old overhead calve deign.
    The overhead cam 348cc engine in the yamaha big bear definitely has more grunt, as it's a true 350 engine.

    I have a 2003 rancher/fourtrax the exact same and it has recently started having problems starting off the button but still starting 1st pull 🤷🏻‍♂️ changed the battery and solenoid yesterday but still nothing. Either a starter motor or regulator I think. Has anyone any advice for me ?

    • @BrickNick931
      @BrickNick931  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I he battery is fully charged? I’d make sure you have a tender on the battery so it has full output also make sure it’s the right battery! Get the correct Honda battery

    • @markyboy683
      @markyboy683 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i buy all my parts from an atv centre that only deal with genuine parts. I’ve put the multimeter on the battery and solenoid and both well above the 12v. Went with the cheap options first, everything is working as it should when I pull start it, just clicking when I try off the button

    • @BrickNick931
      @BrickNick931  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s just clicking and not turning over then you have a dead battery lol unless the starter motor went

    • @BrickNick931
      @BrickNick931  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also a battery can be dead but still show voltage which is why I’m saying to put on a battery tender

    • @markyboy683
      @markyboy683 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrickNick931 it’s a brand new battery in it, I bought that thinking it was the battery but replaced it and still nothing so I put the 2 batteries I had into my mates 300 trx and both started fine. Was thinking the brushes in my starter were needing a clean or I’d be as well buying a new one but not want to go buying lots of things for it not knowing what the problem is. Checked all the wires, fuses and relay but nothing looks damaged
