@@krishpache7271 the funniest part is that his Va is Nobuhiko Okamoto whose most famous roles tend to be "angry boys" (Bakugo, Genya Shinazugawa, Garfiel Tinzel, Accelerator...), but he does have this register too which is really soothing (which I think is actually his normal voice?) that he uses for calm and/ or soft characters like Himmel in this show, Khun Aguero Agnes, Kakeru Sengoku and some others.

Frieren is an elf(common knowledge of elf is that they can live thousands of years). Eisen is a dwarf(common knowledge of dwarf is that they live hundred of years). Himmel is a human. Heiter is also a human. He is also a priest. Priest usually are good healers so you can assume that is why he lived longer than Himmel since he has spiritual powers as a priest. I love you guys are starting Frieren. It's such a great series.

This show came out of nowhere and became one of my all time favorites. It has that: "Wow, I'll become a better person thanks to this show" type of feel.
One of the fan theories of Hieter aging more gracefully than Himmel is that the devils horn the latter been keeping may have an adverse negative effect to him over the years. Frieren might have not known about said effects probably because her age being long has a miniscule effect on her, but for a human like Himmel its really dire.
The show is just the second anime directed by Keiichiro Saito who had his directorial debut with Bocchi the Rock. With two out of two masterpieces, this is a man to keep an eye out on.
I have to say as a German watching this anime is a bit funny and a bit weird. The names of the characters match the character traits, so sometimes you know who is bad and who is nice xd
Same here…tbh at first I couldn’t watch or talk about this anime because it kind of rubbed me the wrong way and I couldn’t take it seriously… but I got used to it after a few episodes… It’s still funny though

It's great to see that you understand the merits of this anime. I burst into tears at the first episode. This anime is a beautiful anime. It will get better each time. This anime not only has good drawings, music, and BGM, but also has a great story development. And above all, the way he uses words is excellent. Also, I was fascinated by the fact that although it does have battles, it's not just that, and it's not an anime that only focuses on battles like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba or Jujutsu Kaisen. By the way, this is the anime that has surpassed Fullmetal Alchemist as the top anime of all time on MyAnimeList. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is one of the best anime I've ever experienced. Of course, Fullmetal Alchemist was also a really good anime.
I also felt that "It's like Violet Evergarden" at first, but I think it's not quite the same. Violet was a girl with repressed memories who doesn't know how to live. Frieren is a sweet girl who forgot to enjoy the time she has, despite of how short it might seem.
You guys will definitely love this anime. It's the top rated anime on MAL right now, having dethroned Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood after so many years. The latest eps have been really good, and you will love the journey this anime will take you through. Thanks a lot for giving credit to the OST too, it's really awesome
"The End of the Adventure" This is the title of the first episode. What I like about this anime is the setting of the world line after defeating the final boss. A work that teaches us that what's important is what lies beyond achieving your goals.

We learn more about Himmel through Frieren’s memory throughout their journey. Each memory adds another layer to Himmel’s and Frieren’s character. This story is beautifully written. Every character feels so real. Madhouse is animating a modern classic.

Dwarfs in a lot of this lore usually have a lifespan anywhere from like 200-400. Elves are in the thousands if not immortal as far as regular aging goes. In some lore regular mages get a bit of an extended lifespan but that isn't always the case.
This show very much focuses on the characters and story, while the few actions scenes are brilliant, it does not in any way lean on the action. Be prepared to cry more, the first four episodes are emotionally heavy, but afterwards it gets a bit brighter, really focuses on how Frieren approaches things since being with the party. This anime has made me excited for anime again, it isn't the run of the mill isekai or constant action anime, it is beautiful.
This anime, the manga, and its storyline are all crazy good. One of the best out there. I really love how the writer values every character in the story so much.

I’ve started watching this last week and it gives me the light fantasy I’ve been wanting lately. It’s so music is sweet and the visuals are so thoughtful and gentle 🥺💕
In addition to the script and soundtrack (which are fantastic in their own right), I hope they both capture why everyone is crazy about Freiren's animation: the extra effort put into the subtle facial expressions, the movement of hair and clothing, and even in the animals and people passing by in the background... it's something that hurts me a lot because I've seen some anime that are really beautiful, but they look horrible when I compare them to Frieren.
Frieren is probably the best show I've seen in several years. Absolutely fantastic writing and pacing. They had 20 minutes to sell us on the show and I was actually sad Himmel died despite the fact that he had maybe 5 minutes of (shared) screen time.
i love this show, and i love that you guys picked it up. The names are so funny when you're german because they are all german words. "Frieren" is "freezing", "Himmel" is "Heaven", etc...

And as a big fan of Studio Madhouse (Hunter × Hunter, One Punch Man S1, Death Note, Parasyte -the maxim-, Ninja Scroll, Monster, Highschool of the Dead, Perfect Blue, Paprika, Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit), it’s terrific that this series has in a sense been their “comeback”. In Japan, the fourth episode was broadcast at once using the movie's broadcast slot. This was done on purpose. I think there is a good reason for that. That is why I wanted the audience to watch the entire fourth episode at once if possible.
I have never cried so much while watching an anime, in all my 38 yrs of life. From the beginning to the end, from upset tears, to happy tears, this show is a masterpiece. From the musical score, to the animation, the character building and world building, everything is so well done.

9:16 I love this show because the first time you see this is like "ok, its sad. I understand 10 years is not that much to her but it's still sad because I suppose they do a lot of things as a party" and all of that stuff. When you finish the first season (I didn't read the manga... Yet) and you see this scene again... wow. The woman who wrote this DO KNOW how to make a good story and good characters. I think this story is one in a thousand and I can't wait for s2 (The only thing stopping me from starting the manga is that the anime is really great)

i love this show, and i love that you guys picked it up. The names are so funny when you're german because they are all german words. "Frieren" is "freezing", "Himmel" is "Heaven", etc...

And as a big fan of Studio Madhouse (Hunter × Hunter, One Punch Man S1, Death Note, Parasyte -the maxim-, Ninja Scroll, Monster, Highschool of the Dead, Perfect Blue, Paprika, Hajime no Ippo/Fighting Spirit), it’s terrific that this series has in a sense been their “comeback”. Long story, bankruptcy, etc.

In Japan, the fourth episode was broadcast at once using the movie's broadcast slot. This was done on purpose. I think there is a good reason for that. That is why I wanted the audience to watch the entire fourth episode at once if possible.

I have never cried so much while watching an anime, in all my 38 yrs of life. From the beginning to the end, from upset tears, to happy tears, this show is a masterpiece. From the musical score, to the animation, the character building and world building, everything is so well done.

When you finish the first season (I didn't read the manga... Yet) and you see this scene again... wow. The woman who wrote this DO KNOW how to make a good story and good characters.
I think this story is one in a thousand and I can't wait for s2 (The only thing stopping me from starting the manga is that the anime is really great)
