      they shaved 20kg by removing the trellis frame, or at least that is what I heard, I always loved the trellis frame of a Ducati but if I had to choose between 20kg less and the trellis frame, lightweight always wins for me. and to be honest the design is still killer!

    I have riden F900R, CBR650R, Duke890, MT09SP and I have Monster+ at home. Its so sexy with absolutely best agility and handling (duke is the only contender really). Also super software (wheele control, cornering abs, traction control…). Its so much fun to ride, I love it. Even the price is fine considering that I needed to add just heated grips (Duke in same configuration was even more expensive).

    Nice review. Hoping to see you do the same with next year's SP model. I currently own a 959 Panigale but tired of wrist and back pain - the Monster SP looks like a good trade candidate. That or the Streetfighter V2 but the SP is much better spec'd.

    This was a bike in my list , but didn’t end up test riding it due to the premium price Ducati ask for their bikes. So it was a decision between the new MT09 and KTM890 Duke.
    Test Rode the MT09 and such a big improvement over the premium generation. Almost put my money down then and there , but so glad I didn’t. As soon as I rode the KTM 890 Duke I fell in love. 6 months on ,and now 10k later I find it hard to fault. I commute , tour and it’s also my weekend weapon around the twisties. Best bike I’ve ever owned. Love watching your reviews. Keep up the great work 👍

      When you buy a Ducati you definitely pay a little extra since it’s a top brand as Triumph for instance. The new Monster is a beautiful all rounder bike also targeting new riders which can benefit from top notch electronic package (cornering ABS), superb handling and braking.
      The power is more than adequate.
      Japanese bikes are allways cheaper due to numbers of sales worldwide and a lot of China based production. Triumph prices are high despite production plants and assembly are in India together with Ktm.
      Ducati are mainly made in Italy as Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia… or Mv Agusta.
      If you look at Triumph’s Bonneville range (i ride a Bonneville) they are silly expensive for what you get.

    Yes it's a Monster. I understand we grew accustomed to a Monster with a Trellis frame but that does not make it a absolute bare essential of a Monster. Especially not consindering how many motorcycles use a Trellis frame and Ducati absolutely wasn't the first one to use it. If we would have put people upset over this in leadership positions we would still be making fire by rubbing sticks.

    Another great review. Nice bike BUT, it is expensive. In the recent past you have reviewed the GSX-1000, the Trident, and we have seen quite a bit of the CB650R. There is also the MT09 and the Duke. In the bottom line this is one more naked bike. I don't think the extra cost worth it.

    • @jantok9217
      @jantok9217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is not expensive. Itried to configure basic Duke890 with same accessories like Monster have from stock and it costs even more. Yep, MT09 or Suzuki couldnt be beaten from price perspective but F900R, Triumph RS, Duke…they all are on very similar price level. I do not regret any penny spent on my Monster. That machine feels premium, has outstanding agility and handling, is sexy and still has some feel of an exclusivity.

    I will stick with my 996 S4R, I bought it new in 2005, they are reliable because its not just ridden when it's sunny and it's maintain properly🙄 Even though your review was great as always 👍 that bike looks like a low budget Japanese beginner bike, The seat option is a great idea, when I took one out for a test ride it had the 800 millimeter seat and it was perfect for my 31 inch inside leg measurement. The bike maybe lighter but the older bikes were not heavy at all anyway. So if you want a real Ducati buy one of the older model's that have character, my good lady has a S2R and she loves it. These new ones are far too expensive for what you get so buy something Japanese or a triumph, the new Suzuki SV 650 looks like a monster which now has a trellis frame and the little punchy twin 👌

    Well, if you want good handling, the only "threat" comes from the KTM 890 Duke. Beleive me, I just love the MT09, always have, but every time I testride one, I get disappointed. Hard riding through curves makes it sway.
    Weight a minute! Yes, the weight makes a hugh difference. I rather have good handling, low weight and less power. Makes the ride better. So there went the GSX1000 in the bin!
