Yeah Joker is such a great villain but his complexity is very unusual because his backstory and motivations are really up in the air it just depends on who is writing the character
Both "complex" and "pure evil" villains are boring lol. Neither is realistic or particularly intriguing. A villain likely isn't going to be some traumatized crybaby, but he likely isn't going to be some murderous class clown either. Villainy is motivated by self-interest mainly, the desire to achieve a given goal or acquire something (usually power). Lex Luthor, Darkseid & Bane are all representatives of the *TRUE* villain archetype; that of The Conqueror.
@@NykandrosI do agree to an extent, however people like that do in fact exist in real life, and while that’s debatable, realism shouldn’t apply to every medium of story telling, and while realistic villains can be entertaining, interesting stories can be constructed with villains that make you sympathies with them. In superhero media (mainly Batman)villains with tragic backstory’s backstories make you sympathize with them, and remind us of what the hero is fighting for, and gives the hero a chance to offer what heroes are really about, a helping hand. Villains that are empathetic also make help us keep our empathy, and we need empathy. It makes sure that empathy is still somewhat prioritized. That’s all I have to say, but I’d like to hear more about your view of villains and antagonists.
@@pexavex7295 I very much agree that realism shouldn't apply to every medium of storytelling, and that you don't need a "realistic" villain to be a good story. Nonetheless, The Conqueror archetype intrigues me the most. Sympathetic villains fall into the pitfall of victimization & woe-is-me personalities far too often. They also tend to lack conviction, these villains are traumatized & thus lean towards the side of mental vulnerability. You just don't get that same sense of an unstoppable force with a singular drive going after his goal like you do with a conventional villain; IE. Bane in Knightfall, Luthor in Forever Evil etc. The conventional, power-hungry villain on the other hand is a force to be reckoned with. Competent, unflinching & ruthless. Can't be negotiated with unless by means of bringing him closer to the object of his desire. Grandiose, megalomaniacal & with the skills to back it up. These villains would scoff at the trauma which defines sympathetic villains. To me, the conventional villain archetype is *THE* best archetype in all of comics tbh.
Tragic Villains are Great but nothing can beat a good old Pure evil villains like Joker, Dio Carnage, Palpatine, Frieza, Johan, Green Goblin and Elder Toguro
Another reason why Two-Face is the best supervillain. He's a pure evil villain, but with the history of formerly being a good guy and having the twist of the whole duality and coin flip thing
@@JokerFan-hj4iv Depends on the version. Sometimes he's just evil, but uses the coin to make basic decisions. And sometimes he's half good, half bad, and he'll either donate to an orphanage or blow it up depending on his coin.
The Joker is a nihilistic character that is his archetype and he’s in the 80’s his nihilistic psychopathic/sociopathic tendencies were introduced, he didn’t always go on about his philosophy on nihlism, heck for most of the Dark Knight he doesn’t go into his beliefs, he just keeps tricking or killing people. Jack Nicholson’s Joker like Heath Ledger’s Joker is just a strong reflection of the character in comics. Joker’s character when your break him down is a Nihilistic Hedonist which means nothing matters so I’ll do whatever I want. Joker talks about it in the dark knight once or twice like he does in The Killing Joke but Jack Nicholson’s Joker just lives that philosophy like The Joker has in some other comics. The biggest difference between the two is that Heath’s Joker isn’t really afraid of death, or Batman compared Jack’s Joker who does show some fear in certain instances. When Joker fell at the end of The Dark Knight he laughs like a maniac embracing his fate as Batman catches him, when Joker falls off roof in Batman (1989) he screams in terror until he dies. Now in comics Sometimes The Joker doesn’t fear death, other times he does but in terms of which is more accurate I’d say Heath’s Joker takes the cake. Also Joker’s nihlism isn’t really “political” it’s more philosophical & psychological. Also Joker’s whole point when it came to his philosophy was to prove to Gotham but more importantly to prove to Batman that everything is meaningless, and that madness is the cure. So rules, structure, consistency, none of it matters, where all just animals who fight for dominance over what we want. Joker has a child’s mindset that rejects responsibility. Carnage:”You get The Joke?” Joker:”What Joke?” Carnage:”That life is utterly meaningless , totally absurd, and madness is the only insane response.” Joker:”Oh that joke!” Carnage:”Joker my friend we belong together.” This was from The Spider-Man Batman crossover back in September 1995. This Nihilistic, Hedonistic, Absurdism, was always true to the character.
11:47 that wasn’t a love interest of Barry’s, she was a girl Eobard liked from his time. @tavaedenton3338 I get that. I was asking King what their point was because they word it as though Manga and comic villains are two vastly different things...which they really aren't.
What I love about joker is that he pretends to be complex in his motivation. He’s tricking the audience cause he lies so much. He is complex in his actions and his relationships but not backstory.

One character you didn't mention in this video that is a great example of this is the Lich King from Adventure time. In the original show, he wanted nothing except to kill anything and everything he could. He also couldn't be defeated, he could be slowed down in his goal, but he never was fully defeated.
Great video dude. I'm glad someone finally says joker is pure evil and not broken. A character can only be broken if their evil actions are justified or if their evil actions don't surpass their tragedy. The joker killed an entire kindergarten class just to provoke Jason so he could torture him in the Arkham games. This joker has the same origin as the killing joke joker. That doesn't make him broken he's just petty, attention seeking and sadistic maniac. Mr freezes actions are justified to an extent because he only does what he needs to, to save his wife even if he is a criminal.

People perceive him as an anti-hero but I always thought deep down Frank Castle is a psychopath who only loves killing other criminals for fun. He’s such a fascinating character after getting to know him.
He feel like he is more of complex character because he only gets evil after year of killing criminals and completely lost the purpose of why he did it in the first place
@@Axson_Cinema he always knew he liked killing for fun. That in itself should let you know exactly the kind of individual Frank is. Punisher is a straight psychopathic serial killer at his core.
He did have interesting conversation with Thor at one point where he says “I fight in a war” only for Thor to claim “No.. you have made a war so you may fight”. Frank runs into the same problem as someone like Rorschach from Watchmen in that idealize him or think he’s “cool” but even in the comics he berates some cops for using his insignia.

can we get a part 2 with homelander in the cut? that dude easily deserves his flowers among fictional villains in comics. If anyone really does deserve to play norman osborn in a remake its gotta be antony just based on the identical mirror scenes alone.
My favorite pure evil villain and my favorite villain from DC has to be Doomsday. The monster who pushed Superman to his limits, killed him, and keeps him in fear to this very day.
people misunderstand the Joker thinking all he cares about is destruction and chaos. Everything joker does there is a reason to it wether to break batman or anyone else.
People have a misconception of Pure Good or Pure Evil Villains: Villains or people to believe they are doing the right thing while viewing others as the "bad guy" without being redeemable or sympathetic. Pure evil doesn't mean evil for the sake of being evil; it can stem from distorted beliefs, self-serving motivations, or a skewed sense of morality. These individuals might genuinely believe they are on the side of righteousness, often justifying their actions through twisted logic or a skewed worldview. However, their lack of narcissism, empathy, willingness to harm others, and refusal to acknowledge their faults can make them unredeemable or unsympathetic, even if they see themselves as the hero in their own story. The concept of a "Pure Good" hero or person doesn't imply perfection or the absence of flaws. Even the most virtuous individuals can make mistakes, face challenges, and have moments of weakness. What defines a Pure Good character is their underlying moral compass, their dedication to doing what's right, and their willingness to learn from their mistakes and grow as a person. Flaws and imperfections are part of what makes characters and people relatable and realistic, adding depth to their journeys and allowing for character development.
FR tho I've never seen a villain have that much animosity towards his Nemesis, none of Batman's villains or Superman's villains or green lantern villains harbor such an intense hatred , the only one that comes to mind who's whole thing is being angry and hating everything is Doomsday but he's mostly mindless
You talked about the robins like they were one person. Jason Todd was the one that got beaten for ~20 minutes then blown up, Tim Drake wasn't even Robin when he got turned into the joker in ROTJ.
Anton Chigurh, Judge Holden, Emperor Palpatine, Femto, AM, Albert Wesker, Eredin, Donquixote Doflamingo, DIO, Slade, Arkhamverse Scarecrow, Darth Krayt, The Prophet of Truth and Light Yagami are all complex yet still pure evil too.
You're mixing up the pure evil villain and the simplistic villain as they tend to intersect a lot but a pure evil villain is not always simplistic in the comics and a simplistic villain is not always pure evil, most of the time when they intersect it's in a character like Carnage or Doomsday that just exist to cause death and destruction.
A character like doomsday is more of just a force of destruction who generally has no reason for what he does but a character like the Joker causes evil for the laughs which I find more evil
Yeah darkseid is also pure evil but he is trying to achieve a goal by finding the anti life but Joker, GG, and reverse flash just doing it for the laughs and to watch others suffer
Darkseid is not pure evil. He has a given goal & set out objective to achieve, he doesn't do things "for the lulz" like the rest of these class clown villains lol
I wouldn't call kilmonger "complex" he used his fathers death to justify his psychopathy. He was really just a black red skull. He was clearly smart enough to make the change without becoming a terrorist.
Umm I would disagree he truly believed in what he was doing and that he was achieving the best possible outcome for wakanda but crossed lines that no one should ever cross
@Axson_Cinema we definitely know he was hiding his psychopathy with scenes like killing girlfriend when he definitely didn't have to or burning all of the plants to make sure he would be the last panther with no one to challenge his power. And he's definitely just a black red skull he has super technology and believes his race is superior and wants to take out or subjugate other with that technology. Nothing he did at any point showed it was for anyone but himself.
But what if Flash dies, that would change the future not creating Reverse Flash, which would change the past since Reverse Flash was in it. Would the server just crash?
The Joker isn't pure evil though. He is tragic evil because he became evil because he lost everything quite literally his wife was pregnant and he couldn't pay the rent, then he got into debt and got mixed up with loan sharks and the wrong people. All of a sudden he was in The Red Hood Gang and working with The Mob to pay his debts, he tried to back out when his wife died that night but they threatened to kill him if he didn't do it.
Carnage is probably the most evil character in all of marvel if were just talking pure violence and chaos. Red Skull is also up there but he's wildly racist. A different kind of evil
It’s because Nolan took inspiration mostly from golden age comics for his version of joker. back then he wasn’t that funny yet and before we knew he had bleached skin some of the oldest joker stories had him where makeup. The way joker came on tv and announced he was going to kill people was very reminiscent how joker used to announce his targets on the radio when the police already couldn’t do anything to save them.
@@JokerFan-hj4iv it has some resemblance to that Joker, that is true, but they also are different ; the original Joker didnt had a crusade like Nolans Joker. He was more down to earth grounded.

Reverse Flash is not pure villain. Hell, he becomes space Jesus in comics after Barry dies and he talks to Superman. I would go as far as to say that Reverse Flash is the most selfless and benevolent, heroic being there is in all of comics. He uses his time-travel powers to create perfect timeline for humanity. If there is any mistake on humanity’s side - another reset. He selflessly spent billions of lifetimes doing NOTHING ELSE but saving humanity. Reverse Flash is the opposite of evil. He feel like he is more of complex character because he only gets evil after year of killing criminals and completely lost the purpose of why he did it in the first place
@@Axson_Cinema he always knew he liked killing for fun. That in itself should let you know exactly the kind of individual Frank is. Even when he is supposedly doing it to protect or avenge someone else like his family’s murder, it was always just an excuse for him to kill another target because that’s what helps him sleep at night.
@@thomasraines1396 something like that actually happened one time in the comics. Some guys who idolized the Punisher wore his skull insignia and Frank kills them in response. He rejects the people who look up to him because he knows he’s not a good man.
@@XxHUNT3RN4T0RxX yeah.
Old Joker Stories:Joker is wrong, one bad day would not break everyone. He is the problem.
New Joker Stories:He had a bad day, feel bad for this mass murdering psychopath already damn it.
Yuuki Terumi is up there. He's up there with the likes of DIO and Reverse-Flash.
Thats also why I love Kefka as a villain. He's just pure evil.
can we get a part 2 with homelander in the cut? that dude easily deserves his flowers among fictional villains in comics. If anyone really does deserve to play norman osborn in a remake its gotta be antony just based on the identical mirror scenes alone.
I do have part 2 planned so stay tuned 🤫
My favorite pure evil villain and my favorite villain from DC has to be Doomsday. The monster who pushed Superman to his limits, killed him, and keeps him in fear to this very day.
Also is the result of the most iconic comic book of all time the death of Superman
You can't forget about red skull
Umm I think he is a different kind of evil 😳
@@Axson_Cinema but he's pure evil he cause a war with Hitler and betrayed Hitler and don't care about the Millon,s of people he kills
My favorite edgy pure evil villain is comic black noir/Homelander's clone from the bous comics!!!!!!
Black Manta fits in too
I’m unfamiliar with black manta besides the animated stuff
people misunderstand the Joker thinking all he cares about is destruction and chaos.
Everything joker does there is a reason to it wether to break batman or anyone else.
People have a misconception of Pure Good or Pure Evil Villains:
Villains or people to believe they are doing the right thing while viewing others as the "bad guy" without being redeemable or sympathetic.
Thanos can’t be reassured with. The guy is insane.
The reverse flash is the king of haters
FR tho I've never seen a villain have that much animosity towards his Nemesis, none of Batman's villains or Superman's villains or green lantern villains harbor such an intense hatred , the only one that comes to mind who's whole thing is being angry and hating everything is Doomsday but he's mostly mindless
He’s too petty to die
I used to think the same way until I've heard of AM. Ngl he just might be the bigger hater which really says something 😭😭
You talked about the robins like they were one person. Jason Todd was the one that got beaten for ~20 minutes then blown up, Tim Drake wasn't even Robin when he got turned into the joker in ROTJ.
Where is that Joker & Green Goblin image from 10:20?
Carnage is my favorite pure evil supervillain
Carnage is really amazing I wish we get an absolute carnage movie one day
Anton Chigurh, Judge Holden, Emperor Palpatine, Femto, AM, Albert Wesker, Eredin, Donquixote Doflamingo, DIO, Slade, Arkhamverse Scarecrow, Darth Krayt, The Prophet of Truth and Light Yagami are all complex yet still pure evil too.
People idealize Light sadly.
Good taste
You're mixing up the pure evil villain and the simplistic villain as they tend to intersect a lot but a pure evil villain is not always simplistic in the comics and a simplistic villain is not always pure evil, most of the time when they intersect it's in a character like Carnage or Doomsday that just exist to cause death and destruction.
A character like doomsday is more of just a force of destruction who generally has no reason for what he does but a character like the Joker causes evil for the laughs which I find more evil
@@Axson_Cinema that is what I said.
What about violator from spawn comics
Your point can be proven in three words: Carnage is goated
Yeah carnage is also really amazing and so are a lot of the symbiotes
Bro forgot darkseid 💀
Joker Green goblin/Norman osborn and Professor zoom/Reverse flash are Pure evil/Complete monster
what about tragic villains?
They are also some of the best but most of them are more anti hero’s then full villains depending on the character
@@Axson_Cinema there should be more tragic villains that are full villains rather then anti-heroes
Mwahahahahaha! *rubs hands evily*
That’s not always his backstory that’s just the killing joke
Carnage is probably the most evil character in all of marvel if were just talking pure violence and chaos. Red Skull is also up there but he's wildly racist. A different kind of evil
The agent of Chaos iis Nolan s version pf the Joker. He is different in comics or other adaptations.
Nolan Joker is doing One Bad Day on the entire city of Gotham. He succeeded in giving Harvey Dent a bad day turning him into Two Face.
@@petermj1098 I dont identigy Nolan s version as the Joker. It is a diggerent character.
Homelander should be up here bro left me scarred
Yeah I did a version with Homelander it’s a part 2 to this video
@@Axson_Cinema oh myf
@@Axson_Cinema I jus started watching the show recently and bro made me jumpy dis whole show 😂😂
Reverse Flash vs doctor doom
It wasnt for barrys love interest, it was for his own after getting rejected even though he wipes out all of her love interests😭😭😭
Yeah I realized it I got it mistaken with when he fazed his hand through iris head
@@Axson_Cinema I ain't mad about it, it shows how much hating he's done to not just barry but everybody in his ow life. Ex: erasing his brother from existence. But you should def make a part 2, especially with Sukuna from jjk. The moment he got resurrected he was asking for he women and children.
Gorilla Grodd vs Winston who is smarter
I feel the Mandarin SHOULD BE a pure evil villian.
I am unfamiliar with his game I’ve only seen him in shangchi
I'm sorry but you regurgitated common agreements on these characters but could not adequately understand why people have come to those conclusions or you failed to describe it accurately at the very least.
This is very elementary, You need to think more before releasing these videos. Do proper research if you seriously want to be doing character essays and be taken serious.

Wrong. Batman does cross that line
It depends on the story in the original killing joke comic it was left to the readers interpretation if Batman crossed that line
He is petty, obsessive, troubled, but, ultimately, the best one there is.
Another low quality barely audible video
The Reverse Flash is nothing
