You clearly don't understand that they love each other. Joker is Batman's true soulmate. If Joker died it would be like Batman's parents dying all over again. Their love story was better than Twilight.
Ras Al Ghul is my favorite Batman villain. I feel he is a better opposite to Batman, being devoted to the same mission, just on a larger and more destructive scale. Basically Batman with no morals and infinite resources.
It sucks that DC thinks of Joker as batman's greatest villian they should only use. Batman has many amazing villians that should be used more like Two face, Scarecrow, Bane, Ra's al ghul, Hugo Strange, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Penguin, and the court of owls. Those villians deserve to be used more in media. There's so much potential with them.
Ivy has really interesting potential. Not just the cholorkinesis, but also her hair color has the same effect on the bat-family that Kryptonite has on the superfamily, so an easy plot? Something involving Vicki Vale.
I agree with you all of these villains all have potential like Hugo Strange he can challenge Batman with Emotions and Batman having to confront his past because Strange is the one who brings it.
Scarecrow has been decently utilized recently, from Nolanverse, to Arkham Knight, he got quite some big roles. Not that he shouldn't be used, but there are other villains (Freeze or Ivy come to mind) that still have to reach the spotlight they deserve.
I actually loved the ending of Arkham City, where Joker dies in this way. I actually want this to adapt in a official comic event down the line, something as life altering like Death in the Family. Having Joker actually die would also get rid of the idea that Joker is the "main rival" to Batman.
I agree, if he got killed permanently it would be a huge event. If he got dead for 10 - 15 years and the comics sold better during that time, it would maybe give DC the click that Batman can work perfectly fine without the Joker
I read this too fast and thought you said have an alternate version of Death In The Family where Joker dies in it and I just thought to myself "How could Red Hood work if Joker died, even if he idk got killed by his own people." He made a video talking about that, but I agree. She doesn't deserve to be a hero because her 'redemption' arc isn't good enough to warrant that status, how can she be a part of the Bat family when she still did pretty bad things while no longer associated with the Joker?
DC should do with Batman what MCU does with Spider-man, give him villains never seen before in live action or reinvent villains who have been adapted poorly like Mr. Freeze and try to minimize Joker.
Agree with you on that one. DC and WB need to used other Batman villains, like Clayface, Man-Bat, Cluemaster, Maxie Zeus, Anarky, Hugo Strange and others, outside of the Joker, cause that's guy is so extremely overrated as heck. I mean, the Joker shouldn't be in Matt Reeves' The Batman movie. but WB executives just made Matt Reeves put him in it, even if it were a delete scene in the film.
My GOAT Mister Freeze deserves more love. The most sympathetic Batman villain by far, all he wants to do is be with his wife, yet he’s forced down a path of villainy
One of the most cringy opinions people say that immediately makes me not think that person is a batman fan for real is "there is no batmn without joker". I'm talking about the people who defend very hard of the Joker's surprise twist as main villain in Arkham Origins and his ghostly return in Arkham Knight. Or the ones who were upset by his lack of use in recent Batman animated movies. Batman has one of the best set of villains in comic history but you're telling me Batman stories don't get much interesting without the Joker? I mean Superman and Flash can have great books without their arch foes but Batman can't? Spider-Man has a debate of 3 arch enemies *Venom, GG and Doc Oct) and clearly his rogues has had spotlight well in media for a while.
It feels like the writers lacked faith in the there other villains so they chose the safe route of Joker instead of taking risks. Feels a bit cowardly if you ask me.
DC has Harley Quinn problem too! Both characters need a year rest or more! They should make either The Riddler, Two Face, Penguin or The Scarecrow to replace the Joker!
So long as they don't turn the Riddler into Hyperactive-Bargain-Bin Joker like they did with Batman Forever. I still despise Jim Carrey for ruining that character.
I always preferred Scarecrow. He's Batman's TRUE antithesis in my opinion. Both use fear as an apparatus, whereas Jonathan Crane is a psychiatrist that makes sense he'd be evil knowing man's evil himself. Scarecrow's are pretty scary and he can even fight. In the Arkham Games it is mentioned in the recordings he's not "sympathetic" he's just pure evil, and I like that about him. Joker has no origin he is evil for the sake of evil and gets away with feats he doesn't deserve because 'I'm crazy" so is every other supervillain in Gotham. Joker could be a bigger threat than Darkseid if they wanted (for no reason at all). That's why I don't care for him.
In my opinion, many of Batman's villains have something from him. The Joker - his insanity Scarecrow - the fear he causes The Riddler - his genius Catwoman - his good heart Penguin - his money Two-face - his thirst for justice Mr. Freeze - his loss
@@valentinkambushev4968 The Joker - His Insanity The Scarecrow - The Fear he brings The Riddler - His Genius Catwoman - His Heart The Penguin - His Resources Two-Face - His Desire for Justice Mr. Freeze - His Loss Bane - His Brutality Ra's Al Ghul - His devotion to the Mission Black Mask - His Obsession with The Mask Poison Ivy - His Protective Nature Deadshot - His Stalking/Predator of The Night Batman's Villains are his best because they represent parts of him Bruce has himself and he knows this, it's like each time punching a Twisted Mirror, had things gone differently, Bruce might have ended up like Roman Sionis or Thomas Elliot, this is why Writers should focus on more than just Joker because Batman has a complex Dynamic with all his Villains, that's why they're interesting, they can't just go leave Gotham and fight someone like Nightwing, they're Batman's Villains, they represent aspects of himself and he understands them better than anyone.
One think I will say about the Arkham-verse Joker “coming back” in the last game was that Mark Hamil’s Joker is peak and it’s great to hear his performance whenever we can while we have him😂
It's not that Batman allows him to live its the justice system. Bruce has wanted and tried to kill him multiple times and is stopped by other characters. Bruce isn't judge jury and executioner same with every other actual superhero.
13:35 don’t worry. New 52 tried it first. Don’t know why every writer tries to pair up Barbara with whatever male Bat-Family member, but please, fucking stop. Only inevitable before she hooks up with Alfred and Damian
Reverse Flash should have been a villain who has unlimited plot armor because of his power in relation to Barry. Meanwhile, Joker is just a crazy human clown.
I get what your saying but batman visiting Joker in Arkham for advice on cases is nothing new at this point they've done it a whole bunch of times in animations.
Batman Cycle: *Joker comes out *Joker eliminates half of the city *Batman catches him *Arkham *Joker comes out *Joker eliminates half of the city *Batman catches him *Arkham BRO I GET IT YOU DON’T KILL BUT YOU ARE MORE GUILTY THAN JOKER RIGHT NOW! Joker is a psychopath who kills people, this is bad. But something worse is an “altruistic figure” to be selfish enough to let the crimes happen indirectly by not ending the killer! This is like… “Oh my child got zapped! I better not take any responsibility and let them do it again”
I would watch Beware the Batman, cause that's an Batman cartoon show which featuring Batman's lesser-known adversaries, like Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mr. Toad, Magpie and others while adding an few of his well-known rogues like Man-Bat, Killer Croc, Ra's al Ghul and Two-Face without having to need to rely on the Joker of all people! Two Face and Penguin are one of Batman rogue that needed more spotlight but no, it had to be the Joker every freaking time. This is shown best at Suicide Squads video game. Let the Joker rest before we go back to him again, no one would complain if other Batman Rogue get more screen time.
Two Face never gets the love he deserves! Have a story with Penguin taken over Gotham and Harvey Dent trying to bring him to justice! Two of Penguins thugs capture Harvey and torture him almost Death! This leads Harvey to become Two Face. Then have Two Face become the next big bad!
So many underused Batman villains like Black Spider, Orca, Doctor Phosphorus, even Killer Croc. Who else has been underused? Just like Spider-Man villains like Scorpion & Rhino who are very underused.
David Cain and Lady Shiva are two I want to see in live action. Get them in the public zeitgeist so that if/when Cassandra Cain eventually gets adapted, people can have a rough idea of what her OG parents were like ala what happened with the Al Ghuls being used in the Nolan trilogy.
I feel like the reason why Joker and Harley are oversaturated is because it's so easy to use them. Their motivation is usually dumbed down to "Ooo, they're so chaotic and wacky." for writers who don't want to try too hard, so you don't really need to try too hard to make them fit. Compare that to how you'd actually have to put in effort to figure out how to craft one of Riddler's puzzles or weave a fresh compelling narrative for someone like Two-Face or Freeze. It's low-hanging fruit, which is what leads to Joker oversaturation and an overabundance of terrible Joker stories.
The Batman 2022 had the right idea, mostly focusing on street level/serial killer like mystery villains. I'd actually want a Professor Pyg, Hush, heck, I'll even see what they can do with the Court of Owls.
I think the problem isn't necessarily that Joker is oversaturated (even though that is also part of it) but that he has the spotlight on him way too much. What the animated series did great is that there was no doubt that Joker was Batmans most prominent foe but he was integrated into larger stories elegantly, like Mask of The Phantasm where the relationship between Bruce and Andrea was the bricks of the story and Joker was just a part of the mortar. And they actually used him vary creatively like in The Laughing Fish, or when he was the judge at Batmans trial by the rogues. Where as almost everything today just becomes essentially the same tortureporn schlock that is essentially screaming at you how Joker is the scaryest guy ever when he really isn't. We get it death of the family was cool but it hasn't been since. So i think it would at least make it more tolerable if they gave Joker a wider range of roles in stories instead of being the hyperspecific version of him that everyone uses for some reason.
I do agree that Laughs main problem was being overused, I feel he should’ve died on the mini series he was the main antagonist of. Making him a literal god was just ridiculous at that point. Having the character question Batman’s morality and beliefs was cool and all, and him ultimately killing him could have started some questions, about how Batman felt about killing an alternate version of himself that was nothing short of a monster, despite his no killing rule. In some sense it could’ve even been seen as a mercy kill since despite how monstrous Laughs is, his fall to villainy was against his will. We could’ve even had some moments of lucidity with him about having to live up with the immense guilt over his actions and being unable to stop due to his fractured mind.
We also could have canonized that killing joker releases a gas that turns anyone near him to jokers, giving DC a good excuse as to why he's never killed.
Villains we need modern on-screen adaptations of (imo): -Manbat -Clayface -Killer Croc -Livewire -Inque -Poison Ivy -Hugo Strange -Riddler -Mad Hatter -Ventriloquist & Scarface -Orca -Firefly -Mr. Freeze -Bane (the actual venom-injecting luchador) -Condiment King
I really hope that in the future, we get to see other lesser-used Batman villains take the spotlight in animated or live-action films. A movie with Ra's Al Ghul or the Court of Owls as the villain would go hard.
DC forgets what made joker so compelling and complex in the first place is he’s a final boss. Once you use him it’s hard to use him again. He is the bottom of the barrel evil, worst of the worst when it comes to batman villains. Joker is a genius and completely unpredictable. Batman should only ever have to face him a few times before he realizes he’s too dangerous to be kept alive. He’s literally one of the only things Bruce truly fears. Just read Man who laughs and you’ll understand what I mean
*We need Less Joker and More “The Creeper.”* What is your thoughts on The Creeper over the years. Including the Elseworld Stroy Beware of The Creeper by Cliff Chang and The New 52 Creeper where he was an Oni from Japan. There was a pitch for 1st Round Robin tournament the pitch was called Son of The Creeper. But sadly Tim Seeley’s Robins won.
For yall that don't understand why Batman can't kill The Joker after everything he has done. I think that it's because of his trauma, Bruce literally blames himself for his parents death, and every life he can take will remind him of that night when Thomas and Martha died
Yeah, that was one of my only major complaints with the movie. I was really excited to get a grounded batman series with no joker in sight for at least one or two movies but that was crushed the moment the riddler got locked up. See, this is exactly why I had a problem with Arkham Origins because around when I was younger my graduating year the Dark Knight came out, then Arkham City and then they had in a bunch of comics and then other movies and when he was the twist villain in origins it made me so upset because they did Black Mask dirty and at that point I was really over the Joker and then they jumped to Harley and that is really when I was like... Okay... Can we stop with these two haha.
I remember finding it so funny that for the Gotham Knights game, they had to say "don't worry he's not in this" they knew people were nervous that he was leading the court
Sin Tzu, Wrath, Prometheus, Kirk Langstrom, Kobra Cult, Deacon Blackfire, Caraxes, Mister Freeze, Doctor Death, Doctor Phosphorus, Equinox and the enhanced assassin Philo Zeiss are all waiting to be in more projects. Zeiss is an actual Batman villain who would take the place of Deathstroke a Titans villain. Batman needs more fantastical villains and super assassins instead of the mob and serial killers.
The villains from the 80s and 90s need to be used more like Deacon and the Dr especially the Dr's Gas mask trench coat design. Those older batman comics genuinely felt less like super hero comics and more like detective stories and Gotham felt bigger then just Batman and Joker you had all kinds of oddballs. Personally Id throw in Orphan, Lockup, Azzy, Terrible Trio, Mad Monk, Stirk in there too
How did Batman of Zur-En-Arrh build a robot without Bruce noticing money being spent? Even if Zur-En-Arrh bought different components from different companies, Bruce must have notice his money or Wayne Enterprise money was spent? Or did Zur-En-Arrh rob criminals and used illegal money to build the robot?
Writers also do a disservice when they write a lot of Joker stories that literally boil down to just being shock value because there's no substance and makes the character feel less interesting as a result.
Honestly it’s the over exposure that really neutered the Joker for me and the over complication of his background and mythos. I preferred when he was more Moriarty to Batman’s Sherlock. I don’t like when the Joker knows who Batman is or has any interest in that, because it isn’t a part of the game between the two. Honestly the perfect essence of the Joker to me is in Detective Comics 475&476 because he works both ends, he concocts goofy schemes yet is absolutely terrifying and he is all about the game.
1:33 BatKeaton drops a bomb that causes an entire factory filled with people to explode, or lights a guy on fire with his Batmobile. BatBale causes an explosion inside of a dojo killing the fake Ras al Ghoul and all the ninjas and even the very criminal he refused to kill, or even pushed Two Face off of a building, nobody panics. But as soon as BatFleck kills the bad guys, well then suddenly everyone loses their minds! Also, BatFleck didn’t kill until after the Superman incident. He saw Superman as a major threat to humanity and decided not to hold back anymore.
As much as heath ledger gave an incredible rendition of the joker, I think we’re still yet to see the “best” joker on screen. I wanna see a joker that reminds me of the Arkham joker.
Bro do you know how much i want main line batman movie that scarecrow is a badass main antagonist?[Christopher nolan scarecrow was weak despite being played by badass actor like cillian morphy]
The DCU still needs their Joker, but it absolutely needs to use villains like Bane, Ra's, Deathstroke, The Penguin, Clayface, Killer Croc, Man Bat, Hugo Strange, Mr. Freeze, Riddler, Cluemaster, Mad Hatter, Firefly, Killer Moth, The Joker will always show up because of how loved and how iconic he is, but other villains absolutely deserve the spotlight. The way Matt Reeves handled the Joker by keeping him the shadows and building him up more for the final movie is a good idea.
Bro really said if you don't like Arkham we gonna box 😂 I fully agree and have been saying the same exact thing forever and now there's a second issue, Harely Quinn isn't a role model.
The overuse and oversaturation of the Joker in Batman adaptations and DC Comics is a significant issue. While the Joker is undeniably an iconic villain, this repeated focus on him has overshadowed many other compelling characters in Batman's Rogues Gallery. Villains like Two-Face, Scarecrow, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and Bane possess rich backstories and unique qualities that deserve more exploration in both films and comics. To address this, DC Comics should prioritize diversifying the villains featured in Batman adaptations. Giving other villains solo films or more substantial roles in major projects would refresh the narratives and provide fans with new and exciting stories. For instance, a film centered around the psychological complexities of Scarecrow or the tragic duality of Two-Face could offer fresh perspectives and deepen the Batman universe. Additionally, DC Comics should expand its focus beyond Batman's villains to include other major antagonists from the broader DC Universe, such as Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne) and Darkseid. These characters offer immense potential for dynamic and engaging storylines that could enrich the entire DC franchise. By exploring a wider array of villains and prioritizing diverse characters in adaptations and comics, DC can prevent oversaturation of any single character and maintain the richness and depth of its storytelling.

He is
He is not the only one
But he is the main one
I agree, if he got killed permanently it would be a huge event. If he got dead for 10 - 15 years and the comics sold better during that time, it would maybe give DC the click that Batman can work perfectly fine without the Joker
I read this too fast and thought you said have an alternate version of Death In The Family where Joker dies in it and I just thought to myself "How could Red Hood work if Joker died, even if he idk got killed by his own people." Tired of them trying to make her this Meta Human Anti-Hero.
He made a video talking about that, but I agree.

Didn't DC turn Freeze into a delusional simp recently and he was never married to Nora?

Starting with their writers

Batman's Villains are his best because they represent parts of him Bruce has himself and he knows this, it's like each time punching a Twisted Mirror, had things gone differently, Bruce might have ended up like Roman Sionis or Thomas Elliot, this is why Writers should focus on more than just Joker because Batman has a complex Dynamic with all his Villains, that's why they're interesting, they can't just go leave Gotham and fight someone like Nightwing, they're Batman's Villains, they represent aspects of himself and he understands them better than anyone.

Joker is becoming The Jinkler.
The Batman 2022 had the right idea, mostly focusing on street level/serial killer like mystery villains. I'd actually want a Professor Pyg, Hush, heck, I'll even see what they can do with the Court of Owls.
Scarecrow is so underused
Yeah he was like an interesting main antagonist in Arkham Knight shame. we don't have more of that
I think we need killer moth or that other guy who Batman left paralyzed in the snow
KGBeast
So he's the Charizard of DC
Then who’s the Meowth of DC?

The best part of Batman who Laughs was Joker and Batman teaming up to throw him off.

The Designer from the comics is a egregious example. Imagine the twist of Origins with Black Mask but worse.
Bro really said if you don't like Arkham we gonna box 😂
I fully agree and have been saying the same exact thing forever and now there's a second issue, Harely Quinn isn't a role model.
I feel like both DC and Marvel (moreso on DCs side though) just forgot that Spider-Man and Batman have probably the STRONGEST rogues galleries in all of fiction.
The Joker is cool but Batman has a huge rogues gallery use them
