  • I love living in Hua Hin but sometimes I need to escape for a few days to get away from the traffic, the crowds and the tourists. Pran Buri is a busy town about twenty minutes drive south of Hua Hin but the beach area of Pranburi is quiet and peaceful and a great place to come to relax and chill out.

Hi. Thanks, I am glad that you enjoyed the video. There are some great mainly undiscovered places close to Hua Hin. Ban Krut is one of my favourites. I have done a few videos of Ban Krut previously here are the links.
      Cheers

Hi. Yes there's more to be said about the less touristy towns. Empty beaches, lower prices, genuine local people, less traffic the list goes on.
      Cheers

As you said Ged , it is a beautiful wee spot for the reasons you stated, we have been there twice in the 3 months that I have lived here .
It would be worth while contemplating living in the hotel permanently if possible , because for only 820 BAHT a day that results on about 24,600 BAHT a month and considering where I am renting now is 25,000 BAHT they are practically the same BUT in the hotel there would be no utilities bill, internet bill and perhaps you could do a deal and pay for the room to be cleaned and bed sheets changed every couple of day or once a week. I have read about people staying on cruise ships permanently because it was cheaper than a mortgage , rent , utilities , gardens/pool maintenance and even the shire rates etc.
Yes like yourself , I feel great sympathy towards not only the soi dogs and often we stop at a side stall just to buy food for any dogs that we see on our trips.
We visit the Hua Hin pound on the 6th of this month with the intent on taking two beautiful animals home with us , I already requested that I want the oldest dog , because nobody wants him/her and he is just ignored and left to spend his days in the pound or back on the streets and also the ugliest or even handicapped ,maybe it is because I have so much in common with them.

Hi Willie. Thanks for your comment. I stayed in the Terminal Hotel on Soi 88 for over a year and I paid an average of 500 baht a night which works out to 15,000 baht a month. (see link below). This included daily cleaning and two bottles of water, A/C, electricity, water, shampoo, soap etc. It was great for me because I travelled a lot and if I had rented a condo and went away I would have to pay the monthly condo rent plus the hotel costs that I stayed in when travelling. Those were the good points.
The bad were points were: that staying in a hotel room with just a bedroom, bathroom and balcony long term is very claustrophobic and restrictive with no kitchen or even tea and coffee facilities which meant that you had to eat out for each meal. You also get the feeling that you’re on holiday all of the time which in itself is not a bad thing but after a while you need to put down roots to feel accepted.
As for the soi dogs this will never end until the government look at the problem seriously because there are millions of them throughout Thailand. Luckily because of the Buddhist religion, many locals do try to feed the soi dogs.
      Cheers
      Ged
