      The reason it worked to do that was because the auctioneer had the sale prices posted online after the sale was finished. Otherwise I would have never been able to catch them all running back and forth between two rings

    What an interesting stash of old iron. There are quite a lot of rare and beautiful vehicles. I mean they used to be beautiful in their prime. It makes me happy to see that a lot was saved from the crusher. I love odd cars like the bullet nose Studebakers and the Nash cars of the late Fourties. They went cheap but escaped being destroyed. Once parts are crushed they are gone forever.
    I am happy to see that the Chevies of the first half of the Sixties are getting some interest and value. I own to many of them. Probably they get the appreciation they deserve. A very good video indeed. Thanks for taking us along!

    • @mr.goodpliers6988
      @mr.goodpliers6988  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The lion's share of what was there was too far gone to be restored, and would cost many times the value of a finished car. Fortunately the scrap price wasn't real high at the time of this auction, otherwise many more would have gone away to the great junkyard in the sky. Our market is quite a bit down from where it's been, but 1959-65 Chevrolet cars are remaining desirable because there are several different groups who still have strong interest in them.
      If a restorer needs just a few pieces, you hit the sub-$500 buy-in for a cheap parts car fairly quick. Plus the invaluable reference resource for being able to look at one that is still intact

    • @beatglauser9444
      @beatglauser9444 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mr.goodpliers6988 I agree: It is sometimes very hard to source trim pieces, moldings and smaller parts for a project. While there is a lot of reproduced Chevy stuff, many parts for other makes have sometimes nearly unobtainium parts. But often moldings even for Chevy four doors are hard to get, specially if it is for an Belair and not an Impala.
      I suspect that some of those vehicles might end up as yard art. Or some interesting front clips and finned rears might be used as wall hangers or seats.
      I have a front of an Austin of the early Fifties in front of the house. A guy did turn the rear part of the same vehicle including the entire trunk into a fancy bar.

    Great to see that '76 Fleetwood. My dad bought a brand new dark blue one in '76 just like the one in the video except my dads had the light blue leather interior. That car had the most comfortable ride ever.When I got my license in 1981 I was able to drive it quite a bit. I think he sold it in 1983, still in great condition. I'd be all over that 1100.00 Javelin. The prices at auctions out your way seem to be WAY cheaper than what people try to get for cars in Florida.

    I think a bunch of people got some very good deals, it doesn't take many parts sold to make a profit on a $ 200-300 car and a bunch of them were in that price range. I also think they had too many cars on a one day auction on a hot day, I imagine quite a few people left before it was over and fewer bidders usually means cheaper cars. Thanks for another good video.

    I have passed on some real special cars in my time, such as a mint 67 335 hp, 390 powered Fairlane 4 door hardtop for $1200, but I just didn't have a place for it. I still have a couple of keepers, such as a 390 powered, Comet Caliente conv, and a 55 Chev Cameo, and at my age, I have to keep my mind on the projects I think I can do something with.

      Internet search or Facebook. On Facebook I even open the ones that are too far away or not something I'm into, that way the algorithm keeps showing all of them in my feed. Also I have people send them to me - so most of the time I don't actively search much anymore
