Can we get a "exclude AUTO" button in the filters on the website? Or something like that. Half the knives are automatics when searching button locks, and its annoying to have to scroll through all of those looking for non-autos.
Bought the Lago and I can't put it down. Liked it so much I actually bought a 2nd one. Can also highly recommend the Civivi Sentinel Strike too. Both are super fidget friendly
Great list DCA. I'm happy to see the CJRB Lago on a list in 2024. It's been out for a couple of years now, and I always thought it was underrated. I really think it's a lot of bang for your buck!
My favorite as EDC in my collection is the Civivi Conspirator. I love the wood handle, the slicy blade and how it has a full four finger grip. I have never liked thumb studs, and the groove in the blade makes two handed opening easy for those situations where flipping the blade open may intimidate non-knife people. Also, assisted knives are not allowed in Norway. Would love to see more flippers with axis type locks if that is at all possible.
I really wanted to like the Civivi Stormhowl. I got the "Brose Gold" handle (pink, but looks like the Rose Gold color Apple did on their phones for a while). It's handle length wasn't quite long enough for me, and my big ol' hands and since it terminates in a beak, my pinkie rests right in the middle of it uncomfortably. I plan on trying to hand it off to a friend's wife for it to live in a purse or something. The other new Civivi that has a Transformers-esque name that I like is the Starflare. More accommodating handle, but much different as a wharncliffe rather than a clip point.
How about smaller button knives? Any recommendations? I just got the elementum 2 and I cant stop picking it up lol. I wonder if theres anything similar thats smaller n maybe still has the sleek kinda design.
Every time I watch this guy I wanna buy another knife. I think I might need some therapy for knife addiction. I’m not sure anyone would believe this is something you can get addicted to. I wish I could stop watching ….
I am reallyu impressed wit the Kizer button lckes. I purchased two of them from KnifeCenter and very happy with them both. (Vanguard Damned Design and the Vanguard Azo Brat). I have the Brat in my daily rotation. Excellent job on this video!!
CJRB Lago 💯 🎯. Love mine. It's my favorite plain edge that I own. (Need to get a backup. Ha.) The CJRB Riff is a tank and another favorite in my collection, and its what I happen to be carrying this week.
I would add the CJRB Feldspar, the WE Knife Exciton and Zifferus, the Kizer Begleiter, to name a few. There are countless amazing button locks nowadays... this could have been a top 50. Still, this is a great list. Thanks for the post.
I had that little Hogue and it was dependable and so much fun. Scary sharp. I also found a way to get it back in the handle without the little push DCA mentioned. I gave it away and now I find myself missing it. Great acute tip as well. Thumbs up for the Hogue
KnifeCenter exclusive Gemini with CPM 4V! Might be my best button lock flipper, but while the handle works for me i feel im fighting it because it's short. I'd love the exact blade, though shorter than possible, in a longer handle!!! THAT could be my favorite folder!
I was glad to see QSP and Bestech. My two favorite EDCs come from their stables. The CJRB though is the head turner for me. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it’s not in my pocket already!
Oky, now that I've watched it, I'm going to say I was correct: The Kizer Gemini is still better than everything on this list. As far as the list itself, the only criticism I have is the Vosteed Valkyrie made a POOR choice of steel for its fine-tipped Seax blade. It should have come with 14C28N, the Nitro-V steel was just hardened a bit too high for that fine a point. One of my daily carry rotations is my Vosteed Raccoon, I'd replace the Valkyrie on this list with the Raccoon.
I do love these knives and will have to add a few to my large knife collection. I do have a question, most knives gravitate to a 3 inch plus blade. What do you have in a locking folder that would be a welcome addition to my smaller (sub-2 inch blade) collection?
Yea, bought one button luck a while back. The button unthreaded. Fixed it with locktight. Not a fan of the mechanism in general though so barely carry it.
Hey DCA, I need a replacement for a utility knife. I’m a leatherworker, so I go through a lot of blades. Do you have any suggestions of wharncliffe blade shapes, as budget as possible ($50 is about as high as I want to go), about 2-2 1/2 blade length, and either a very hard steel or easy to touch up steel. I can sharpen so that’s not a problem.
Another great video. Would be nice to add the budget Sencut knives as well. Just added the Serene to my collection after considering the Sasche and Crowley.
I got it because button lock flipper ( my favorite folder type) but it was so big and came sharper than any I'd even had! I'm not able to discern why I don't carry and use it. Loving Civivi Biophase!!! Button lock flippers forever!
Hello DCA, first of all, thank you very much for your videos. They are entertaining and very informative. Now to my request. I am looking for an outdoor/ survival recurved fixed blade. It shouldn't be too chunky, like a Kukri. Between 4 or 5 inches would be perfect. Do you have anything in mind? Thank you in advance.
I recently started collecting knives. I was excited to get my first couple of button locks. However, one opened as I was getting it out of my pocket. I'm not sure I'll be getting another one.
How? I've carried a button lock and an auto and it's never happened to me in years. Maybe consider one with a secondary lock, it's a great opening method.
You seemed to have overlooked the Spartan Blades Pallas, which has been around since before the Malibu, and all the chinese offerings. It's built superbly, extremely comfortable for guys with bigger hands, and has flawless balance. Opportunity missed.
Forget the button lock even though I like it id prefer a crossbar lock for fidget friendly lock. It just feels so much safer and robust. Every time I use a button lock knife in any situation other than cutting paper or tape I'm kinda nervous. At work I'll use my cross bar locks to cut thick plastic straps and not bat an eye. I want a list on great cross bar lock flippers. Especially in the budget category
@@acid6urns Nothing to do with detent but mecanism, you need a really large opening in the blade between pivot and flipper tab to be able to operate the axis lock.
I'd add the Swaggs Sway Back, it is interesting because my model has thumb stud in addition to the flipper. The ones I saw on your website only have flippers??? Kizer Cutlery Vanguard Swaggs Sway Back Flipper Knife 2.99" N690 Stonewashed Wharncliffe Blade, Purple G10 Handles, Button Lock - V3566N1
I let my malibu go due to fact I didn't want to carry it, too much $ invested in it. I let go my culux too, simply didnt like it. Love my maxace babylon and spyderco smock. Id like a kizer cormorant frag.
I’m stopped at 18 seconds, and I’m going to say it’s unlikely that DCA will show us a better button lock flipper than the Knifecenter exclusive Kizer Gemini with the 4V blade I have in my pocket today (my 14C28N Vosteed Raccoon is sitting home today.)
This episode almost felt like “Beat the Icon: ProTech Malibu”
Picked up a Pro-Tech Mailbu from you guys recently and returned it immediately. The lock stick was absolutely insane.
Cjrb lago is my favorite edc wish they came out with some knife center exclusives
I have one as well. It's fidgety and cool looking. Not sure why it doesn't get more love.
Can we get a "exclude AUTO" button in the filters on the website? Or something like that.
Half the knives are automatics when searching button locks, and its annoying to have to scroll through all of those looking for non-autos.
I’ve noticed that too maybe try “manual button locks” 🤷♂️
Bought the Lago and I can't put it down. Liked it so much I actually bought a 2nd one. Can also highly recommend the Civivi Sentinel Strike too. Both are super fidget friendly
Kizer brat is super underrated
I've just got one. So I hope that You are right
@@iamgroot4080 i love the action and acoustics on the brat. Enjoy!

Can never go wrong with the Button Lock Elementum II!
Woah! Didn't know you were also a knife guy Dylan! You're my go to for New Balance sneaker news and reviews.
E II is a nice piece, but far too large for my baby sized dainty office hands. Feels like handling a flagpole 🤣

The acoustics on the Vosteed are crazy
Kizer Original XL Titanium. Unbelievable value.

Pyrite, Pyrite Alt KC exclusive... and that new Bowie. Fabulous
Pyrite is a button lock but not a flipper (no tab)
For a Vosteed pick I absolutely adore the Corgi. Extremely unassuming but can be opened quickly or slowly.
Every time I watch this guy I wanna buy another knife. I think I might need some therapy for knife addiction. I’m not sure anyone would believe this is something you can get addicted to. I wish I could stop watching ….
You are not the only one.... I'm in the same boat

Same here
Me too
I am reallyu impressed wit the Kizer button lckes. I purchased two of them from KnifeCenter and very happy with them both. (Vanguard Damned Design and the Vanguard Azo Brat). I have the Brat in my daily rotation. Excellent job on this video!!
I agree. I have the Mad Tanto, which is one of Kizer and Damned Designs collaborations, and it's my favorite button lock flipper.
CJRB Lago 💯 🎯. Love mine. It's my favorite plain edge that I own. (Need to get a backup. Ha.) The CJRB Riff is a tank and another favorite in my collection, and its what I happen to be carrying this week.
#2, 8 & 10 are my choices with the #8 Vosteed as my favorite.
Nice looking selection overall.
got my red scalled stormhowl with sanmei and yes it is nice

Viper moon? Kizer Invictus? QSP grebe? A lot of new (and old) button lock flippers to choose from.
I still love my Elementum Button-Lock (3.5" one) like day one. I love how they did that button.. the milling is subtle but impressive.
Hello 👋 David, thank you for sharing this informative video. There were some great choices. Stay safe out there. 😊
Or stay dangerous;-)
Nice selection. Thank you for sharing. Take care!

The Amicus is my favorite EDC.
Contrary to what some may think, you can still find lots of knives with other locking mechanisms if you prefer. 😂
They Civivi Praxis and Bestech Swordfish are probably my favorites.
Oky, now that I've watched it, I'm going to say I was correct: The Kizer Gemini is still better than everything on this list. Awesome list.
Mordax and large pyrite are my favorites.
I really wish more buttonlocks had washers. Seems like the mechanism would still give enough clearance for a smooth action. Am I missing anything?
I do love these knives and will have to add a few to my large knife collection.
I do have a question, most knives gravitate to a 3 inch plus blade. What do you have in a locking folder that would be a welcome addition to my smaller (sub-2 inch blade) collection?
spyderco chicago is a good tiny one

Buck 744 Sovereign Button Lock is a great knife for the $$. Better action and feel than most of those you reviewed.

cold steel tuff lite
Ganzo G768PT should be on the list. So much knife for so little money.
Another great video. Would be nice to add the budget Sencut knives as well. Just added the Serene to my collection after considering the Sasche and Crowley.
The Civivi Stormhowl looks like a Gas station knife to me.
But they aren’t. Civivi makes damn good knives.
As a Civivi fan, I gotta say I'm definitely not a fan of the looks of the Stormhowl. Way too busy.
I agree that Civivi makes great knives, I own about 20 different models, but I think style wise this knife was a step in the wrong direction.
Petrified Fish Twigshark is my favorite button lock. PFE11 Twigshark
Orion Knives Scorpio 💜💜💜👐
hi, nice selection as always. btw do you ship to germany?
I feel offended that the Civivi Conspirator is not on this list. It might be the perfect button lock flipper.
I got it because button lock flipper ( my favorite folder type) but it was so big and came sharper than any I'd even had! I'm not able to discern why I don't carry and use it. Loving Civivi Biophase!!! Button lock flippers forever!
If Bestech made the Swordfish in XL version, with a 4.25" - 4.5" blade, I'd own a dozen. It's Such a good looking knife and no thumb studs.
I love you DCA but why is that Hogue knife on the list? My list is the Malibu, then We, Civivi, Sencut, Kizer, CJRB.
CJRB Pyrite ? awesome button lock
That’s my EDC knife!!
There wasn't Cleaver knives video for a quite a while, or they are not in the trend lately? Would love to see more of them and similar shapes :)
Not the Culex, but I just received my first WE with color anodized titanium. I was just wondering how the color ano holds up to EDC.
i mean… it’s a literal chemical change in the titanium it’s not going to come off
I'd like to see some jimping on that Malibu

Cool blades but nothing really takes the Microtech Stitch out of my pocket…She’s a beautiful beast…
Kizer Hic-Cup Black Satin Micarta, high polished steel liners, 154CM 👌🏻
You seemed to have overlooked the Spartan Blades Pallas, which has been around since before the Malibu, and all the chinese offerings. It's built superbly, extremely comfortable for guys with bigger hands, and has flawless balance. Opportunity missed.
If WeKnife would re-issue the Exciton, it would deserve a place on this table.
Not a flipper, but I just put Flytanium scales on my button lock elementum and i don't know if I'm even gonna get another button lock
This one would have been a good video to do with Seth.
The Malibu is the only one that matters.
Forget the button lock even though I like it id prefer a crossbar lock for fidget friendly lock. It just feels so much safer and robust. there’s not many cross bar flippers because crossbar locks have absolutely dog shit weak detents
@@acid6urns Nothing to do with detent but mecanism, you need a really large opening in the blade between pivot and flipper tab to be able to operate the axis lock.
I was hoping to see the moon knives viper with Magnacut 🤔
Whaaat! Kizer Brat? The Protech Mordax is way better than the Malibu. Your missing the the bangers.
I do agree with you on both of these knives 🙌
Viper Moon is my baby!
How is the cjrb pyrite not on the list along with the civivi conspirator
Pyrite, not a flipper. And the Conspirator was mentioned right before I showed the Stormhowl -DCA
I couldn't make this list without including the Civivi Qubit.
Not a flipper -DCA
no benchmade?
i would love a video on "BIG EASY FOLDERS" PLEASE?
Check it out right here my friend: th-cam.com/video/Kd9RFkLlrNQ/w-d-xo.html
Fidgetable 😁
I'd add the Swaggs Sway Back, it is interesting because my model has thumb stud in addition to the flipper. The ones I saw on your website only have flippers??? Kizer Cutlery Vanguard Swaggs Sway Back Flipper Knife 2.99" N690 Stonewashed Wharncliffe Blade, Purple G10 Handles, Button Lock - V3566N1

When are those sword? fish gonna be available? I've had one on water for about a month now, with Knife center.
I let my malibu go due to fact I didn't want to carry it, too much $ invested in it. I let go my culux too, simply didnt like it. Love my maxace babylon and spyderco smock. Id like a kizer cormorant frag.
Sencut serene
Lead off with the one that is never in stock.
That Bestech Swordfish exclusive catches my eye every time I see it.
Contoured g-10 and s35vn sounds like a winner. Might have to pick that one up :D
I’m stopped at 18 seconds, and I’m going to say it’s unlikely that DCA will show us a better button lock flipper than the Knifecenter exclusive Kizer Gemini with the 4V blade I have in my pocket today (my 14C28N Vosteed Raccoon is sitting home today.)
malibu ever be in stock?
I still prefer civivi conspirator.
Vosteed Raccoon has button lock now
Spyderco Smock?
Too good of a knife. They need to push some crap first
Smock while a great knife it a compression locks that is button activated
Can you imagine losing a $240.00 knife!😂😂
Sorry DCA, but that civivi looks like a gas station knife😅
Would like to see a don't buy these knives video
No mordax list is not complete for top button locks
They don’t have any in stock that he could show.
Unobtainium lmao
I don't believe that the We Culex has a titanium pocket clip. I think you misspoke. Titanium does not flex or can be bent!
👍👏
🔥👍
Quite like the Malibu but no reversible clip for left hand carry means the whole company is dead to me.
Malibu is actually really nice in your left hand
Seventh....ugh story of my life
The action on the Hogue makes it a poor choice for this list. You might as well buy the auto.
No mordax???
I like the 2 tone blade but the handle.I think that's just u d c a that's not for everybody
Get jackwolf gunslinger and forget about folding knives.
Don't see a Machine Wise on the list.
Knife Center doesn’t sell them and the Sonora isn’t available yet.
13:35. Remember to wear a condom when operating this knife.
Always practice safe Seax...
Fidgeting is fine and all that .. but what would your pick be for a folding steak knife that could also handle self defense ?
After all , meat is meat
Pretty sick of the tiny knife trend.
You’re missing the #1 of the year….Reate PL-XT. As if we haven’t all flipped a Malibu? Lol
I’d say a lot of people haven’t “flipped” a Malibu.
Not quite a button lock, but more importantly for the context of this video, not a flipper -DCA
