There are a lot of important elements in storytelling. Structure, Surprise. Visual Moments. Details. It’s overwhelming. But there is one that is the most important of all: stakes.
"Stakes" is what the character can gain or lose in the particular situation. Stakes are the reason your listeners will be glued to every word you say.
But how can you bring stakes into your story?
It’s actually fairly easy. In this video you'll learn my 5 of my favorite ways to raise the stakes of your story.

My favorite story does exactly this, the stakes just keep raising and the time comes to an end and when all seems dooomed, the adversary reveals their support, and their combined strengths do the impossible to save the day, it all unfolds quickly, naturally, always moving. oh, sign language is an amazing way to get into storytelling, it's visual, emotion becomes expression, a longterm challenge, my thinking and moving are connected in ways I never knew I always needed, that~

Well...I will say one that is not in your 5 but important as always: emotion. No matter what technique, always try to have emotion, because that's what captivates. Great video!!!

You're so right, Rachel. Emotion is the single most important element of storytelling :)

Great content! Your voice is too muffled and low. May I suggest getting a lavalier mic? Or try to boost the treble and volume in post.
Also please name your chapters in your description, instead of just #1, #2, #3, etc. It becomes a quick reference for viewers to focus on, or rewatch, a specific chapter.
    00:38 #1 Share the Character's Emotional Goals
01:22 #2 Foreshadow The Result (Gain or Lose)
02:04 #3 Make Them The Underdog (Character Growth from Weakness to Strength)
03:08 #4 Add External Stakes (not just internal stakes)
04:00 #5 Add a Ticking Clock (Time Constraint)
