    Amazing work, this really is awesome, this development really helps leverage all those Xeon CPU's that may otherwise be destined to landfill . It is exciting to see these abundant cheap old Xeon CPU's keep up with a modern Ryzen CPU
    I had some Xeon CPU's that I inherited, and a Cheap QIYDA X99 H9 Motherboard, This board can be flashed with Machinist X99 RS9 compatible BIOS ROM , so I used the hz-x99-8m-f.tp.s3tt.7050 rom
    -__Some notes__-:
    The Stock ROM did not allow RAM speed or timing changes and Sleep mode was disabled by default
    The Custom BIOS ROM Allows changes to DDR4 ( Hyper X) NON ECC RAM speed , Including XMP profile ( Actually runs at 2666Mhz) , Manual speed and RAM timings
    The CUSTOM BIOS ROM changes can only make changes EEC Registered Server RAM Timings but speed always runs at 1866mhz
    Intel i7 5820K CPU did not work with either BIOS ( I just wanted to test the CPU) I presume a hardware limitation
    -__Questions__-:
    Is there a way to get the EEC RAM actually running at the speed on the label (2133)?
    Is there a way to disable Sleep and prevent the computer from needed a hard reset
    Notes
    I took a backup of the Factory BIOS if required by anyone

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. Core i7 CPUs are not compatible with Turbo Boost Unlocked BIOS, you need to use a full BIOS with not TBU implemented. Memory overclocking is not possible on this motherboard, with locked Xeons RAM works according to the Intel specs, with i7-5820k max speed is DDR4-2400 and with i7-6800k it's DDR4-2600. Sleep mode can be disabled in the BIOS, look for ACPI S3 settings, and this info explains the ECC REG issue: th-cam.com/video/HozIT2X-cKk/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks Miyconst! Had an ASRock X99M 4Extreme with an i7-5820k that died recently so I picked up a X99-F8. Had troubles overclocking which I attributed to the i7, so I grabbed an E5-1650 V3 and still couldn't enable overclocking features and boot with newer BIOS. Noticed all the successful overclocking videos were running the 2019 BIOS which I couldn't find anywhere except in your tool. Good night Miyconst, I was present at Conectatech's live last Friday, I realized by your words that you advise using your mi899 app with Tu Drv S3TurboHack V0.2, but with what undervolt ??? -50/50, -60/50? I remember that I have an x99-k9 with 2630L v3. what is the difference between this driver in addition to the reduced electricity consumption, to the other one that you provided to the conectatech channel? I loved your humility and simplicity in answering all the questions asked, on top of it being too late for you. Thank you very much, big hug and continue with your excellent work.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Sérgio! In this case the reduced voltage does not reduce the power consumption, but it helps the CPU to maintain higher frequency. Each CPU is individual and you have to find the best undervolting level for your particular sample. I would go with -50/50 and let it be like that. 99% of CPUs can withstand such voltage reduction.

      The CPU has too many cores and too low TDP for all of them to run at 3.6 GHz, you need to disable a few cores if you want stable 3.6 GHz.

      V2 version of X99-F8 has a good BIOS from iEngineer (search on GitHub), but it requires CH341A (or other programmer) to flash, that's why I didn't add it to Mi899 app. If your motherboard uses Winbond BIOS chip - most likely it's V1.0, otherwise it's most likely V2.0, I hope this helps.

    So, I have a Machinist mr9a v2.0 (non pro) paired with a 2690 V3 ES stepping 2.
    I followed your video and the script for flashing the bios ran without errors.
    However, after reboot, windows 10 freezes 30 seconds after I log in. I tried -70mv undervolt, -50mv, and no undervolt whatsoever, and I get the same result with all turbo unlock bios flashes: Windows freezing. Without undervolt I can actually stay around 3 minutes logged in Windows, however, I don't even see the max clock in CPU-Z active, as if the turbo unlock didn't work.
    Any idea as to why this is happening? Do you think it's because I have an ES CPU, even though it's stepping 2? Maybe because I'm using v2.0 of the mr9a?
    I'm getting kind of desperate and starting to think I won't be able to turbo unlock at all with my setup :(

    I have the opportunity to get an E5-2698v3 very cheap.
    the 2698 runs at a slower base clock speed, but does the unlocked turbo compensate?
    The question is: would the 2698 be better than the 2690, given the turbo unlock?
    Thanks for all your work!!

      The answer to your question is: "it depends". If you do gaming - there won't be any difference, E5-2690 V3 might be even slightly better, but if you really need all the cores, then E5-2698 V3 is a good option when priced well.

    hello, thank you for the video. I have a dual CPU x99 but I do not know the brand or model, it does not say that anywhere, and on the programs it has Intel instead of machinist or other Chinese brand.
