    It turns out that I have missed one very important detail: X99-MR9A Pro has 8 phases VRM while X99-MR9A non-Pro has only 6 phases. The MOSFETs are and their configuration is identical between the motherboards.

      Thank you for sharing all this knowledge. Question: does the MR9A bios work with the PRO version? Another: Is there any way to set Bus speed to 100? (not 99. something) Ukrainian Force, you are brave!

      Certainly correct for most of the boards. Some of the Chinese dual-socket ones do use C612. That's my only real interest in this scene, admittedly.

      I had no idea what I was buying with my first board, and it was a bit of a disaster. I've done three videos on “X99” stuff now, and come to realise it's definitely a false economy. Fun though. Definitely cannot trust the people who manufacture these boards, mind you.

    I love my MR9a, at first i regret it because the pro seems a bit better, but i hate small fans on vrms and never had the need to use m.2 wifi modules, so the mr9a was the rigth choice. Nice comparison sir, have a good one.

    For around $50-60, these boards still represent a fairly good value when paired with a well priced v3 Xeon. It's just harder and harder to recommend paying $100-150 on the Xeon v3 platforms when used Ryzen is also fairly affordable. The big attraction for me is dual x16 slots AND dual NVMe drives with 40 PCIE lane v3 CPUs

    Have you encountered an issue with this board as below,
    Whenever I open device manager I see heaps of base system devices missing etc
    The moment the system seems to check or scan devices it immediately reboots.
    It is Windows 10, fresh install
    I am struggling to ensure all devices are installed.

      I managed to get all drivers installed but the one problem I still encounter is if I run AMD adrenaline installer (I have an RX 6700 non XT) the moment the installer opens, I hear the hardware disconnect sound and the PC restarted itself.
      Now after a few windows updates, it restarts and then immediately after I see it complete post and windows loads, windows goes straight to "shutting down" and repeats the cycle.
      Very frustrating, I was very excited to get to use this.

      I did however to get all drivers installed need to use PowerShell to install them in bulk as the second a program seems to state "your device needs a restart to complete installation" the PC immediately reboots.
      Might even be the PSU perhaps as it keeps stating "PC has woke from low power state" or along those lines.

    Hi, I want to build my first PC and am looking for a Xeon CPU boot. Are there also xeon CPUs that can handle 1440p or which xeon CPU would you recommend?

    • @Andre-uf9lj
      @Andre-uf9lj 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the game. But on 1440p ur most likely to be GPU bottlenecked. I would suggest the E5 2680v3, pretty decent Xeon i think.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on your budget and wishes. In general, the higher resolution is the stronger GPU you need.

    • @-_-DatDude
      @-_-DatDude 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you're going to build a Xeon gaming rig, prioritise higher clock speeds and high single thread performance over insanely high core counts bro. Its also worth mentioning that most games don't benefit from the level of multithreading peformance that the 12 core,14 core, 16 core, 18 core, 20 core and 22 core Xeons were designed for. I made the mistake of buying a 2698 v3.😂😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
      What the X99 community wont tell you, is a lot of the higher core, low clock rate CPUs more or less requires you to flash your bios and undervolt your CPU so all cores are in turbo mode for optimal gaming. Undervolting and flashing your bios is not something a first time PC builder should be worrying about imo.
      The post is getting long so I will state my recommendation...Go for a 1650v4 or go 1660v4 if you are obsessed with more cores. Anything else and its more of a workstation than a gaming rig.

      @-_-DatDude 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Miyconst In fairness, the higher core V3 CPUs that you tested were either overclocked or you flashed your motherboard to enable turbo on all cores. So its not the fairest test as you cant do the same on the V4's. It's worth mentioning that not everyone is as confident or as skilled as you are at tuning their rigs as you are mate.
      I'm purely talking about out of the box performance here mate. The out of the box clock speeds are too slow 🐌 on the higher core Xeons for gaming. Im not going to be disrespectful and mention other TH-cam channels on here but let's just say I've seen other videos on TH-cam were the 1600's V4s consistently beats the other Xeons *WITHOUT TUNING* in most games that are more optimised for GPU.

    Three flaws:
    1- It doesn't specify it in its description, but of the two M.2 ports it has, one is NVMe and the other is SATA.
    2- The sound card delivers terrible audio, and the front 3.5 jack doesn't work for me.
    3- The small VRM fan starts to hum very annoyingly after a while, you have to buy a few 30x30x7mm Brushless fans in advance.
    The M.2 ports don't surprise me, they should be clearly specified. I've tried audio drivers but I haven't been able to do it.
