There are differences. For example, bribery is usually paid to the person in power who can take an action. Influence peddling is paying someone who claims that they can convince a person in power to take an action.
Bribery requires a quid pro quo, a tangible outcome for a payment made. Influence peddling doesn't need the tangible outcome because what is being sold is just an agreement to convince the subject.
Bribing Hunter Biden, or Junior, or the other one, would be absolutely useless if you wanted political action. None of them could do it. Thats where influence peddling comes in. 😉

I would say that the real issue would be whether the person answering the subpeona give the required 3 day notice, so that the legal staff has a chance to get there. Simply showing up at a public hearing isn't going to cut it... especially when people are free to cut in and object at will (from either side of the aisle). It also wouldn't help to keep his testimony on track (as witnessed by the Democrats).

@@susanang1732Almost all testimony at hearings is under oath. Often frequent flyers, Cabinet Secretaries etc who have previously taken oath are just reminded their testimony is still under oath. A very few do not take oath, as they are ‘not subject to the jurisdiction thereof’. See 14th Amendment. These are people in the U.S. on diplomatic passports. If you watch this is normally discussed and clear to everyone at start of testimony.
