For those unaware, the original NES Championship was a cartridge from 1990, and contained a sequence of 3 games which you played, trying to get the highest point total within the time limit. Specifically, you play _Super Mario Bros._ until you get 50 coins, then it sends you to _Rad Racer_ and once you finish the first level, you are sent to _Tetris,_ where you play until the timer runs out. The way the score multiplier works, the best strategy is to clear the first two segments as quickly as possible, so you spend as much time playing _Tetris_ as possible.

I couldn't believe they didn't call this "NES Remix" because that's essentially what this is. But obviously calling it "NES Edition" means that they may do other consoles as well... What's the over/under on whether we get past SNES & Game Boy in future titles, tho? It seems like their "retro" stuff always stops in that generation, even though the N64 is now older than the NES was when they were releasing "retro" NES games on the GBA in the early 00s.
I think Nintendo is just going to throw out a bunch of really random remakes to fill the Switch to fill until the Switch 2 comes out. I'm hoping for Kirby Planet Robobot as I never got it for the 3DS, F-Zero GX, Luigi's Mansion. Just release a bunch of random things.
Would be cool if they would make an online last player battle type game. Could do, for instance, nes Mario where a few dozen players play level to level and try to outlast the other players. Would be neat, probably super popular. Free M35
These types of mini games are only fun long term if you seriously compete against other people. Like - I'm tired but I need to beat this persons score before going to bed! As a single player experience it's enjoyable for maybe 10 to 20 minutes.
I think A) this should've been an NSO bonus, not a paid game. And B) this might not mean snes and n64 editions are coming, bc they also have the splatoon and mario kart world championships. The title might just be differentiating that
It does look pretty neat! Also yeah I liked the inclusion of the champions from the past, I probably won’t get the game competing for best time isn’t really my thing but this is neat regardless!
I personally find it hard to care about getting a dozen NES games with some splitscreen multiplayer, which I believe to be the only appeal. Not to be a pest, but I see this as evidence to suggest that Nintendo has officially *got nothing* for the Switch anymore and is putting all its assets into their next big machine.
1. I think they announce it right now because this trailer isn't really Direct material. It's too long and it relies too much on NWC branding. 2. It's not NES Remix because... It's not NES Remix. kinda dissapointed the ad didn't featuired the actor who played Lucas in The Wizard "I love the JoyCON is so bad!"
It was weird that John Numbers wasn't in the trailer.
The MC kids joke sounds like it came straight from a Dunkey video
Dose the gold replica cartridge play on original nes ?
No, its just a fake cartridge.
I think they just didn’t want LM2 to be the ONLY game we know about for a few weeks after TTYD comes out
The amount of time it takes to produce a video like that. Of course this was lined up, lolol.
Would be cool if they would make an online last player battle type game. Could do, for instance, nes Mario where a few dozen players play level to level and try to outlast the other players. Would be neat, probably super popular.
Free M35
NES remix is pretty fun
It gets weird
I will never pay money for Super Mario Bros. again
I think everyone can agree with me when I say a port/remaster of Ultimate NES Remix or something would've been better
We finally know how they're gonna sell 13mm switch systems this year I guess.
No Punch out? Like beating Glass Joe in 10 seconds!
Or why not bring back a bit of Gyromite?
After rebranding mc kids into Mario 2 they then took it into a Time Machine and rebranded Mario 2 USA into DokiDoki panic.
You know if we were actually able to play the NES games in full then honesty not bad for non Internet users but we definitely know that's not the case
3:59 fin.
No NES Tetris on this is a crime
I thought MC Kids felt familiar! 😮
These types of mini games are only fun long term if you seriously compete against other people. Like - I'm tired but I need to beat this persons score before going to bed!
As a single player experience it's enjoyable for maybe 10 to 20 minutes.
Wait, they’re going to charge for it? Why?
It makes sense as a NS Online thing. Nobody is going to pay to play this except a few die-hard retro fans.
I think A) this should've been an NSO bonus, not a paid game. And B) this might not mean snes and n64 editions are coming, bc they also have the splatoon and mario kart world championships. The title might just be differentiating that
R.I.P. Punch Out!!
It does look pretty neat! Also yeah I liked the inclusion of the champions from the past, I probably won’t get the game competing for best time isn’t really my thing but this is neat regardless!
Yippee
So I see the cycle of being hopeful has come around again for you Nintendo fans
this better be free for nintendo online members, it just makes sense and we already payed for your nes games on switch??
Funny he doesn't mention pyoro instead of saying the esrb
The deluxe eddition is the only reason I want the game
You need to practice if you want to play nes games. Is really fun
There's no Link in Mario or Kirby in Metroid. That was the whole point of NES Remix. It looks similar but it's not
only 13 nes games is laughable
They’re really the only first party nes games that are any good and easily put into bite sized challenges.
@@garrett8707 You didn't play NES Remix 1 and 2, did you?
@@Melonposting those both also had only like 13-15 games. Most of which are in nwc
@@garrett8707 NES Remix pack had 23 games total and retailed at the same price as NWC. It had over 250 regular challenges, compared to 150 in NWC. That's not even counting all of the remix challenges. Unless you really care about online time leaderboards, NWC just seems like a much worse deal than NES Remix.
To be honest I’d rather just play the games in full. I’m not someone who has played the original Metroid super Mario bros 3 several times over and want a new experience out of the games.
