I had a 5 hour ride home and ran out of E85 pulling into the station which was out of E85. Luckily there was a station 10 miles away so I bought a can, filled it then went back to get the car. My wife followed me home and thankfully she saved me. My car has a full Fore Innovations with fuel lines larger than my garden hose, 3 fuel pumps, 1050x injectors so 12 MPG even with the 10 speed. My car made close to 800 on E85. Congrats on the purchase!
Dang. That had to be an emotional rollercoaster. Relying on the app definitely had me a little weary in states I've never been but it worked out. Thanks for watching
Nice and congrats. I have owned several Mustangs and got my first 2003 Sonic Blue Cobra in July. 5K miles, zero mods, barn find, not even a scratch on it. Enjoy the car.
Oh wow, I just randomly came across this video and thought, man that looks like Kevin’s old car. I know Kevin pretty good, lots of memories hanging out with him and making some hits in that car. Congrats!! That is a prestine car!
@@tonysprojectgarage I followed his old tutorial on polishing exhaust on my 04 Cobra back in the 2000s. I also bought his rear replicas and some springs as well in 2006 or so.
Just got my 04 sy cobra in July. I had been seriously looking since December of 2023. Super frustrating dealing with cobra sellers, like you mentioned they are either whipped and they want too much. Or they have no intention of really selling and want their ego stroked with compliments. Finally found the right car only an hour and a half from me. 41k mile California car basically 90% stock. I’ve dreamed of owning one of these cars since I was in elementary school. This is my forth mustang and the best one by far.
That car has always been one of my favorites. Maybe one fine day I will be able to afford one. You were literally 15 miles away from my house in Murfreesboro, TN on your drive home. Lol
It might not be a Cobra, but I flew to Wisconsin for the lowest mile 7th generation accord v6 6-speed available in the US at the time. It's honestly such a good feeling to fly out to get the car you've loved in a clean format
Absolutely beautiful Cobra... I have an 04 as well.... always been a dream car for me and I don't think I'll ever let it go. Yours has some great mods to it.
Ohhh...its 04Sleepers car. Right when you said Kevin i knew. I was on SVTP back in the day. I had the first Cobra on CCW LM20s wayyyy back. Currently have a 04 Comp Orange one that is staying with me indefinitely.
What’s up Tony, long time to see. Wild how this video was recommended to me, even gave me a dose of nostalgia. Fellow HPD member from back in the day. Congrats on the new pickup dude it’s in sick condition.
I’m in Longview and we are finally getting a Racetrack station with E85. I’m still debating switching as I don’t wanna have to rely on that station having E. Closest other one is in Shreveport.
@@tonysprojectgarageI’m surprised you didn’t ask for the seller had or could get a 93 tune just for the drive back. My luck I’d run out of E with no where to fill up.
@@TheNightmare692009 I got the SCT handheld that had the 93 octane tune but he didn't have the 3.0" pulley. If worse came to worse, I could've loaded that tune and just driven VERY carefully not getting into boost. I've since picked up a 3.0" Whipple pulley so I'm set but don't ever plan on switching from E85
Back in 2005 I was about to buy that exact car. 2004 Torch Red with charcoal inserts and factory chrome wheels. It had 4k miles on it asking $27,777.00. I stupidly passed on it after they not only lowballed me on my trade but insulted me by saying it had a bad trans. A few weeks later I ended up buying a new 2005 Mustang GT which was very popular because of the retro bodystyle just coming out. COBRA was forgotten. I had the new bodystyle and the hp difference didn't bother me all that much at the time. They were all over back then so my mistake wouldn't be realized for several years. If I did end up.getting it it would likely be in my garage with 22k miles on it in place of that 2005 GT.
When I was 16 I had a 91 Camaro as my very first car then after I got a of different cars like Evos, SRT4, coyote f150 but even though I currently have my STI I bought an S650 GT full optioned out and it’s my 3rd v8 I’ve ever owned and I’m 39 currently and I do really enjoy the sound of the Gen 4 coyote but it’s always a great feeling to get something you really want. I’m also in Texas as well and even though they do make the whipple for my car I don’t plan on it because I already have a boosted car and I don’t need another 700+ car but I did do the Res delete H pipe already. Are you getting tint because with this heat it’s crazy and mine is fully PPF and ceramic coated just to protect it but I also have the sunscreen guard in the windshield it’s clear and reduces so much heat and I don’t do the darker tint on the windshield but the clear is nice.
Mystichrome is such a cool color but extremely difficult to find. Come out to the LMR event in November at Texas Motor Speedway and you may find someone looking to sell
That was excellent. Very cool. My comp orange rolled from 29k-30k miles on the way home from Phoenix when I bought it in 2014. I’ll be 39 next month so we are close in age. I can’t believe you bought one of these new. There was no way I could have swung that when I was 18
Thanks Justin. These kinds of trips are so much more my style than using an auto transport. I had a windshield repair business that did well in high school and my next door neighbor was the head SVT salesman at the dealership and it worked out, definitely a blessing to be in the position to buy one at that age.
Cool to see the famous Kevin Dunn’s cobra on video finally! You were very brave making the trek past Memphis on E85. Those two stations are always Sketchy. Also I feel you on the bad luck of the semi wreck, my unit was put on response for it because of the ordinance they were carrying. Overall, awesome video and I’m glad I watched.
