    Excellent method for comparison! Playing the same thing on both going back and forth between them and playing alone and in a mix. Very helpful!

    I have the Noble. It has a great tone plus it is great as a stand alone preamp. It will color your tone if you add some bass/treble, plus the tubes give you the rich tone that we all seek. We all have ears, a mouth and an opinion. Great comparison video. Buy what fits your budget and tone. We aren’t here forever, play bass and be happy today! Love to all my fellow bottom end friends!

    Both sound amazing, but I’m having a hard time truly discerning the difference between them. I closed my eyes and for the most part they were identical. If anything I’d say the RNDI sounded a bit more nasal than the Noble. What do you think?

    • @MascisMan1
      @MascisMan1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      ...and any slightly discernible difference would be lost in a live mix.

    • @IvanBassist
      @IvanBassist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Both are pretty awesome indeed. The Noble has (to my ears) a different sort of low end thickness and the RNDI is very pristine/transparent. That might be what you described as nasal.

      The choice was easy for me. I don't hear enough difference between the 2 to justify the price of the Noble. I've listened to several demos between the 2. The Noble is very nice but my choice is based upon what I'm getting for my money.

  • @ChazJazzNY

    I might be wrong but the Noble is a Instrument pre/DI. I think RNDI is a DI only. So the Noble with sound different especially when boosting the eq.

    • @IvanBassist
      @IvanBassist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, indeed. That is why i didn’t use any EQ at the beginning of the video. The Noble is just acting as a tube DI there. I showed the loop later so that people could how the tone can change but still have a reference by hearing the RNDI

  • @bassguitar1919

    It's tough to beat the Noble tone, but as far as value for the money It's pretty hard to not pick the RNDI. If money were not a concern then Noble, but if you're looking to invest in other gear or save, RNDI is excellent value.

  • @bassistlewis6618
    @bassistlewis6618 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I thought they sounded pretty similar, especially when in the mix. Isolated I heard more upper mids from the RNDI, but more highs from the Noble. It doesn't sound like you could go wrong with either!
    I noticed you plugged directly into your RNDI then from the thru of that out to the Noble. Do you think that could colour the tone of the Noble in some way? Have an RNDI and they're really clean and hifi.

    • @IvanBassist
      @IvanBassist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re both great indeed!
      I doubt using the through out of the RNDI could color the sound of the Noble. That output is an exact copy of the sound into the Neve

  • @pjfields2382

    Forgive my ignorance but could you run a compressor and say like a nightowl pre into the rndi to warm it up and have a killer small board.?

    Hey, could you maybe do comparisson between noble and ritter di?

  • @oldasrocks9121
    @oldasrocks9121 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really tough to judge with TH-cam audio compression. The Noble is def sexier looking and more often than we're willing to admit looks can bend our ears a bit... Plus the immediate lure to tubes can do the same. The USB interface has a big impact on real world results too, the most transparent of the less expensive interfaces are the Steinbergs imo. My diy Jensen trafo box from the Jensen schematic does it for me, about as detailed as the RNDI, perhaps not as "sweet" but for amateur home recording into Reaper it's as good as these (and surely as good as the over-rated Reddi) with some post-eq.

  • @PurpleMusicProductions
    @PurpleMusicProductions 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great playing! From what I could tell the Neve had a roundness on the lowend and tight mids while the Noble had a more scooped tone and not as deep lows even on the flat settings. I like it too but prefer the Neve but wouldn not be mad at having the Noble.

      You know, I’m really surprised by people’s reactions so far. Some people have already ordered an RNDI because of this vid. I thought most would be going crazy about the Noble 😂

    • @darthprawn2970
      @darthprawn2970 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IvanBassist With economies being hit as they are, I think people are playing their cards close to their chests. The Noble is great, but the RNDI is more value (in my opinion - it's fantastic for what you're paying), which to me explains why they are ordering the RNDI.

  • @domagojoinky8262

    There is something in the sound of Noble unit that I like more, it sounds warmer and saturates like tube amp. RNDI has more even frequency response and sounds more natural and hi fi.

      IvanBassist recomiendas el noble pre? Tengo el RNDI me gusta pero la verdad es que la integridad de Jack y la compañía de noble son parte de mi integridad como persona. Pero tampoco quiero mal gastar mi dinero. Tu me entiendes verdad? Para mi es importante apoyar a alguien que es honesto con su producto y que describe bien lo que hace. Pero también tiene que ser superior en su escencia y calidad sonora. Honestamente dime, es Noble pre a superior product? Me ayudará mucho esto amigo. Gracias mil

    • @IvanBassist
      @IvanBassist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jorge Alejandro Mijangos Si te entiendo completamente. La respuesta depende de lo que estes buscando.
      Si quieres una tube DI, entonces si es superior. Si buscas una DI que tenga preamp (bass/treble) y tambien funcione como fuente de poder para tus pedales, tambien es superior.
      En algunas situaciones, el RNDI suena “mejor” (mejor es subjetivo”), pero depende bastante del tipo de musica.
      Ahora normalemente grabo dos señales. Una usando el Noble con un poco de EQ y una señal de “backup” con el RNDI. Asi luego se puede elegir despues cual queda mejor

      IvanBassist gracias por contestar Iván. Estoy buscando un sonido bien ponchado y sin tener que traer mucho en las giras. Un buen sonido de bajo sin tanto procesamiento. Estoy a punto de comprar el noble. Tengo el RNDI y me gusta. Me gusta mandar mi audio al FHO puro o lo más puro posible. Pero la verdad me encanta los Jensen transformers y la convicción con que ese bórralo está construido. No escatima en calidad. El RNDI no está mal pero tiene los input de plástico y cosas así. La única comparación en calidad que encuentro es el Demeter tube DI con elementos de mucha calidad. Por eso mi pregunta. En cuestión de sonido y calidad vale la pena para tocar en vivo o me quedo con el RNDI? Sabes es una buena lana lo que cuesta pero al final los componentes son de súper calidad y armado con mucha conciencia.
      Te pregunto porque tú tienes los dos.
      Millones de gracias por tomarte el tiempo. Estoy a punto de poner mi orden para el noble pero me esperaré a que me dices y decido. Gracias

      @@proyectoJAROCHO Hola Jorge! Gracias por tu respuesta, también. Lamentablemente no he podido usar mi Noble en vivo mucho, porque pronto luego de que llegó el mío, se cancelaron todos los conciertos por el virus, pero las pocas veces que la usé y también en los ensayos que tuve, siempre recibí cumplidos del sonidista y de la gente de mi banda. Y de toda la gente que conozco que tiene el Noble, también escucho las mismas historias.
      Si la pides, y no te gusta, yo creo que podrías venderla al mismo precio que nueva, porque mucha gente no quiere esperar las 12 o 13 semanas :)
