Have you played sunset overdrive and Spider-man? Cause then you can really see what I mean. But regardless, there have been games with parkour and momentum based movements before Arkham as well like assassin's Creed for example. No your comment does not make a good point and no it's not a valid argument
@Deltabolster damn bro. No need to get all butthurt. Besides you can look it up. Plain as day says insomniac got its inspiration for Spiderman from the arkham series. Especially arkham city with the open world concept. It don't matter to me what you think though. I won't lose any sleep over it.
I absolutely LOVE Sunset Overdrive, it's one of my favorite games!! I'm glad you talked about it in a positive way, because it's indeed very rare. I think I have an idea why people don't like it compared to Spider-Man. In Sunset Overdrive, you have to be someone who likes to have FUN in games, someone who really enjoy "pure gameplay" and try to make their own fun when we give you fun mechanics to play with. The problem is that most people don't actually do that, sadly. When I played the game I was VERY surprised, because I wasn't expecting it to be so fast, so fun, so good, and for one simple reason, EVERY videos I've watched about the game before playing it myself, were incredibly boring and slow. A lot of people just play it like dead rising and that's it. I've met a lot of people who, if something isn't needed to be done, won't do it and just do the bare minimum to complete the mission, and if you do play like that, Sunset Overdrive will indeed be extremely boring. It's a game full of incredibly fun mechanics, but it's up to you to decide if you like to have fun and if you want to have fun with it. Spider-Man is the opposite, and that's why I actually liked It less than Sunset Overdrive (I still enjoyed it, but I had a lot of issues with it too). Everything is much more automated in Spider-Man, people can just hold R2 and Spider-Man will swing and it will look good on screen and impressive, so people who don't try to pull off crazy stunts by themselves will have more "fun" on Spider-Man, because it does that more automatically, while in Sunset Overdrive it's up to you, and if you don't play well, it won't look good. I haven't played Spider-Man 2 yet, but I know it has a manual swinging system where you can lower / turn off the assist, that's the main reason I'm interested in trying that one, one day when it will be on PC. Sunset Overdrive is a game that can look incredible when showed off properly by someone who plays well, and terrible when played by someone who doesn't care. It's actually the case for a lot of games, obviously, but in Sunset Overdrive it's very noticeable. In your video we can see that you do have fun with the gameplay, which explains why you enjoyed it. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a fan of games like Tony Hawk, SSX etc... And Sunset Overdrive was perfect for me. It's just so fun to move around, to keep your combo meter going up, to be in a constant state of flow, with both combat and traversal being mixed together. An absolute gem. Also, even if it might sound weird for a game like this, I think it's worth giving it a shot with mouse and keyboard, it completely elevates the game, you can pull off much more crazy stuff with quick turns and all, makes it even more fun.
I love this game and I think it’s the first game I ever beat due to how fun it was. I grew up with this game as I was like 6-8 years old and loved how chaotic and funny it would get.
Holy turkey leg man I love this game. Was really sad to hear how poorly it performed because I would LOVE a sequel Also I feel like it's worth mentioning, I had no clue what the fast travel animation was because getting around is so much fun I never wanted to fast travel Spiderman and Prototype were the only other games that made me do that
Quick reminder: This game is on Steam. Edit: Yes, I know Cynical mentioned that near the end of the video. This is more for those folks who might skip the video thinking the game was Xbox console exclusive, when it is in fact only MICROSOFT exclusive.
Thank you so much! I plan on doing more of these kinds of videos for an assortment of games both old & new. I had a blast putting this together, it was breath of fresh air. I know for sometime these will likely not preform as well as the usual KH stuff however I’ve got to keep my head down and keep em coming! 💪🏻
I really hope that these videos eventually get as many views as the KH videos on this channel... I'm glad I tune into these because there's still just as much funny shit that Jared says/does that makes the video an absolute gem. Keep up the good work, my dude.
I had no idea that insomniac made this game, I only played it once at a friend’s house when it first came out this was very insightful, I also love that Yuri voices the MC in this game 😂
Awesome glad to see more Sunset overdrive love.. I think it was criminally underrated during it's release..one of my favorite games..the traversal & combat was the best
This was an xbox one launch title. So of course I've heard of it, played it and beat it. The story was pretty good but after you beat the game there was nothing left to do. I found maybe 3 side quests but 2 of them were just fending off hordes and the 1 I tried to do because they were talking about a sword and I thought maybe that was the quest reward but I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. I think the quest was bugged. I don't have it anymore.
This was the first game I had for the xbox one. I always hoped that there would be a sequel. Criminally underrated. With good DLC. In terms if just pure gameplay, this is Insomniac's best game.
Definitely keep these coming! Was entertaining to see your usual energetic hype towards something other than Kingdom Hearts, and I think you did a phenomenal job showcasing what makes this game so special!
Legitimately one of the best games I’ve played. It’s incredibly fun, has great music, gameplay, and a fun story. It’s such a shame we haven’t gotten a sequel or rerelease. Xbox dropped the ball not paying for another one. Put so much time into it and loved it all
This man will go to any lengths to not give us the promised KH3 review… In all seriousness, I really enjoyed this style of video and can tell you enjoyed making it. I hope to see more of it in the future Cynical!
This is great please continue to do other games man I’ve been watchin this channel for a couple years now kingdom hearts is awesome but don’t let it limit your channel any longer good work bro
Love the video style! Kept me engaged and hit new information consistently throughout. Shame that TH-cam's algorithm kept it under my radar, didn't know until ur last X post, but ur brand is set up for these kinds of videos, keep it up and I'm sure TH-cam will show it to more eyes!
Recently got back into this. I remembered that setting soda zombies on fire with an incendiary dick shotgun as 80's "Weird Al" Yankovic is what makes it my favorite game.
My favourite game of all time and a game that captures the endless fun of other games like titanfall and skate 3 which I played around that time, back when gaming was still great
It makes me really sad that Sunset Overdrive did not do well because when this and Infamous Second Son came out, I was debating on buying an Xbox one and my brother get the PS4 so I could play this. 😂 It was just really nice to have a fun super colorful off the wall game that wasn’t trying to be realistic when for a long time, it felt like everyone was trying to be realistic and gritty. Hopefully one day we get Sunset Overdrive on the PS5 and maybe (and this is definitely wishful thinking) we get a sequel
yo! i played this when it first came out and hated it so much lol. idk if it was because i sucked at it, but i remember not liking the traversal and the combat was way too difficult. you’d get ganged up on and annihilated within seconds of touching the ground. so, you had to like skate everywhere and you couldn’t stop moving. it wasn’t for me
I'd also recommend the no more heroes games - I'd but those games in the this same category of underrated, stylistic games with such a specific sense of humor & made for such a niche audience.
I played and loved it on my Xbox. Just about to revisit it on the steam deck for just a few bucks and I‘m really looking forward to experience it again!
I love this game, i bought it on release date and won a second copy on mine country game shop 😂 Did sell the second copy to a friend for super cheap. The gameplay was definitely one of the most fun I had!
Came back to this 5 years after playing it and I can say this. This is 1 of my favorite Xbox titles of last-gen and I usually don't have favorites. I like to see this make a comeback after a decade in obscurity. Sony and Insomniac own the IP and Trademark, but Microsoft owns the Publishing Rights to the sequels, DLC, spinoffs, remasters/remakes, etc. Essentially, Microsoft wields the biggest bargaining chip to this game being revived. If Insomniac wants to return to this title, here's what should happen. Since there attached to making Marvel games for the next decade, they and Sony should forge a deal with Microsoft in what I feel is the most logical choice I can think of. Insomniac and Sony allows Microsoft full access to the IP and Trademark in exchange for the rights to publish the title on PlayStation as well as Xbox(PC included). Basically, splitting the IP and publishing rights equally amongst Microsoft and Sony. MS will remake Sunset Overdrive as a multiplatform title rather than an exclusive with the supervision of the original dev team who made game. In truth, Insomniac remakes the first game through Microsoft and publishes it on both platforms. So, when the sequel is made, both PlayStation and Xbox will have access to the game without having to worry about conflicting on exclusivity. Additionally, Sunset Overdrive should receive a full REMAKE NOT A REMASTER at this point as the title will be a decade old in October. The title should be fully remade with current-gen graphics engine, expanded customization and replayability. 1 thing I despise from the original title is the lack of replayable missions. You can only play a set number of missions which are all score based and replaying the game from the beginning, involves deleting your game save on Xbox(PC allows save files). A remake can solve this with a new game+ feature and make every SINGLE mission replayable including the prologue with cutscenes added. Also, missions should be split in 2 categories, story based with cutscenes added and score based like in the original title. Content from Chaos Squad like the Propain Launcher should be obtainable in single player rather than locked behind that game mode(PC allowed this but Xbox doesn't). I find the customization lacking despite the vast options the game offers. Almost everything is preset and your limited on character parts and clothing items. A remake can resolve this issue by expanding on and allowing full customization on individual character parts and limiting the number of preset options(Cyberpunk 2077 for reference). Clothing should also be expanded upon by adding more variations to existing clothes while adding new ones. Also add more hairsyles, accessories, and body art. New Game+ mode should have content locked behind it that you can't get from normal mode such as new weapons, amps, overdrives, and traps as well as stronger variations. This also includes clothing and character parts. When starting new game+, you can have the option to replay the game with a new character, while carrying over everything you unlocked in your 1st playthrough, or with your existing one. This is how I envision it if it becomes a reality but will still be a distant fantasy regardless.
Slightly unrelated to the video itself but whether this vid might not have as many views or perform as good as you expected, I'll be supporting whatever content you make jared :D Much love from a fellow Kingdom Hearts fan. 👊
i played this a month ago & when i heard that the main male character was the same voice who did Peter Parker on Spider Man ps4 threw me off. I questioned when can I web swing lol
This was such a amazing and unique game to be ever released from Insomniac, and it's such a shame that we'll never see it get ported over to PlayStation. I would lose my mind if it did though, and then buy it asap.
This is the one game that I’ve always wanted to play, but I’ve never been able to because it’s only for Xbox. To this day I am absolutely dumbfounded how they could make such an amazing game only for Xbox
They are NOT zombies. The protagonist goes out of their way to explain that they are mutants and that zombies and mutants are very different. Just fyi.
i played the hell of this game when it was on a trial version i got to the ending then it stopped also i can suggest maybe reviewing the good fire emblem games
You can really feel the groundworks for what became the spider-man movement
The batman arkham series did it all first

Doesn't Spiderman 2 have like the same animation for sliding on water?
Now this was a blast from the past. I remember considering between PS4 and Xbox One just because of this game.
Sunset overdrive is what suicide squad kill the justice league was trying to be, but failed miserably.
Yeah it was like a copy but none of the charm style and quality
if you’ve never played this game, i HIGHLY recommend it
played it with my cousins back in 2015! amazing game fr!

TGJ Mahjong arc is gonna go hard.

Damn this brings back memories 🤦🏽♂️ long live my brother fr he loved this game 💔
Apparently, Insomniac only made $5 profit off this game.
I mean I did buy it for 10 so this makes sense
Yeah according to the leak this game made close on zero turn over, unfortunate due to it being so good
