      True, but if you’re gonna get a really good cpu, you’d think that getting an equal level gpu would just make sense. Maybe they’re an editor or 3D design person. Those are more work flow things that would benefit from a good gpu. Point is, you should try to have all your components on the same level, it just makes things so much easier and that way you don’t have much to worry about.

    Speaking of bottlenecking, what monitor would you recommend as a second external monitor to pair with a Acer Nitro 5 w/ an R7 5800H + RTX 3070 mobile? Obviously I'd like something that looks better, especially a 1440p ultra wide, but wouldn't that mean that I would need to run games at lower settings to achieve the same framerates if my CPU/GPU has to push more pixels? Should I go with a 1080 ultrawide instead, or maybe a 16:9 1440p display? What would be good to pair with a desktop if I buy one down the line? I know you mainly do PCs but I was wondering if you could help with this laptop issue. Love the Vids btw.

    • @45p3ct
      @45p3ct ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A 1440p monitor can display 1080p, so in an easy to run game such as cs:go, you can go 1440. But if your playing cyber punk at high settings, 1080p would be a smart choice. A 3070 laptop gpu is pretty beefy anyway.

    • @mauriciocalderon8573
      @mauriciocalderon8573 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Monitors are all preference & what you plan on doing. If competitive gaming is what you’ll do I’d go for a 1080p 144-240hz monitor. 1440 will reduce fps in games by 10-30%. 1440 ultra wide will also push your pc more as you’re making more horizontal pixels.

    • @mauriciocalderon8573
      @mauriciocalderon8573 ปีที่แล้ว

      24in 1080p. 27in 1440p.32in 2160p. If you go above those values, your image will slightly become lower resolution until you’ve gone too big. Less fps as well, as you’ll have to push more pixels per inch

  • @theftking
    @theftking ปีที่แล้ว +9

    This short's implication that your GPU is gonna bottleneck your CPU is ridiculous and sends the absolute _wrong_ message to people trying to get into PC gaming. It's absurd to suggest people _overspec_ their GPU simply because they _happen to have_ a CPU that could justify it; that's definition sunk-cost fallacy.
    "Well, you already paid for this fancy CPU; may as well splurge and get a GPU that can leverage it, _even if you don't need it."_
    Your CPU needs to be good enough to not meaningfully bottleneck your GPU at the resolution you play at. That's it. This notion that one is "leaving performance on the table" when pairing a 13600K with anything less than a 6800 is nonsense - something like a 3060 Ti (or really anything lower-end than a 6800) will run _just as well_ on a brand new CPU as it will on one that's a few years old. It'll run just as well on a 12400 as it will on a 13600K.
    Now, the _opposite_ is true if you buy a 4090 and pair it with a 4770k or something, but that's a different story entirely, and even then it's probably only gonna manifest at very high resolutions, and if you're playing at higher res, you' e invested in a fancy display and thus probably have a competent CPU anyway.
    Yes; if you have a powerful GPU, you want a CPU that will let it stretch its legs at those high resolutions. However, having a powerful CPU does not mean you necessarily want a equally powerful GPU. There are countless compelling reasons to get a powerful CPU despite not wanting a crazy GPU; the latter is much easier to upgrade and replace a few years down the line, whereas upgrading the former will likely necessitate a whole new motherboard.
    That's just like, my opinion though.

    Most likely they are using a prebuilt or just need display out.
    Buy a used gpu in the latter case.
    If you got a prebuilt that has an overly op cpu, FIRST look at what Power Supply you have, then look at gpus that would fit that. New, rx6600 is good for the price, used an rx5700xt slaps for the price, and anything above those is amazing as well.
    Rx580 8gb at the cheapest, only used though. Buying new, buy something actually decent rather than overspending on a 580.
    I was similar, my pc came with a i7700k which at the time was an amazing cpu. Still use that board and cpu now, with a friend's build.

  • @danielmay9632

    I mean it depends what deals you get. I found a used rx 6700 xt for 200, and i have that exact cpu. Bottleneck is 8% for anyone wondering, i can play titles like dl2 in ultra maxed out with RT. Considering the cheapest 6800xt i could find used in my country was 450, id go 6700xt every day.

  • @NoFailer
    @NoFailer ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That bottleneck calculator depends on user input. Most people have no clue about hardware so I would take the percentage you get with a grain of salt.
    EDIT: I played around with a few combos and the site wants to tell me a 7600X (or better) is too weak for a 6900XT. I don't believe that.

    This sounds like someone who has a rich friend who got that CPU but quickly upgraded to something like an i9 or Ryzen 9 and then sold the i5 to them for a cheap price. But they still need a GPU and don't have much money for it. That's how it sounds to me. So just recommend what they're asking for instead of assuming that they're rich because they have a good CPU

    I'm planning this build(MSI Built) a comment from experts would be deeply appreciated:
    CPU: I5-13400F
    MOBO: MSI Mag B660 Tomahawk E Project
    RAM: GSkill Trident 32GB ddr5 2x16GB 6000mhz
    Now this is hard for me the GPU, because I see in YT that AMD is better in terms of FPS for 1440p for below selection.
    -MSI RX 6650 XT 8GB
    -MSI RTX 3060 12GB Ventus
    RTX 4060 Ti might be a good but I heard that it's the worse series by Nvidia so far because only minor improvements.
    I'm worried if I buy RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT I might get a cpu bottleneck.

      Youll be just fine with either the 3070 or the 6700xt dw you wont get any bottle necks especially if u play on 1440p since you know as u go higher up in resolution when gaming the cpu matters less and less like for examole u can pair a 13600k with a 4090 if youre planning on playing on 4k

    My setup is a r5 5600 pair with a RX 6600, to my surprise, the GPU is weaker compare to the CPU, and the bottleneck is for 14% as the CPU is faster than the CPU, on that same website the perfect match was a RX 6750 XT with 0% bottleneck, so... Spending on a brand new GPU along with a 750W PSU just for the GPU... More money to spent 😭

I bet this is a stupid idea because I came up with it myself but let me know what you think and if possible, suggestions to make it better. I'm not working with a lot of money so I have decided I would spend most of it onthe cpu and gpu.

    Or you know stop spending on 4k graphics and just spend on top of the line 1080p performance every 2 generations. Huge money sink for such extreme bottlenecks. The reason why the market is so bad is do to the fact everyone wants a fancy 4k multimonitor setup but fails to understand that these companies are eating you for all you are worth.
