    It might be worth mentioning that not all ambient light rejecting screens are "designed to work with ultra short throw projectors". The one being reviewed here is a "ceiling light rejecting" type of ALR screen that is designed to reject light coming in from the ceiling above while reflecting the light coming from below where the projector is located back toward the seating position. There are also "angular reflective" type ALR screens, that are designed to work with regular projectors and the results are very much the same. I have one from Elite Screens that uses their Cinegrey 5D material and I love it.

    I know these type of screens are meant to be used for UST projectors but does it make sense to use standard projectors with this screen ? Does it improve the picture quality ? I have a BenQ HT2550 and looking for a screen which is edge free and black screen but almost all the screens on the market are for UST projectors.

      You really do need a UST projector, t the way that the Ambient Light Rejecting screen works is that it rejects light from above and absorbs it from below which is ideal for UST projectors.

    • @PersonalProjector
      @PersonalProjector 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily, Vividstorm have screens available for non-UST projectors that are ALR.
      If you’re looking for an affordable UST projector you should consider the CHiQ B5U available at personalprojector, it’s very impressive.

    You seem to have mixed up the words “detail” and “contrast”
    Blacks are a bit deeper on the ALR screen, almost certainly at the cost of peak brightness. There is no difference in the detail.

    Bought the P2 OPTOMA. Planned to buy a motorized floor rising ALR but read quite a few reviews that such floor rising motorized screen is a VERY BAD IDEA. Even the mfd yesterday May 11 2021 confirmed to me that floor rising ALR's within 6 months will have problems with horizontal lines showing up and the coating getting damaged.
    The solution, supposedly, is a ceiling motorized drop down ALR. Mind you, still ALR, but now dropping down. These do not have issues I was told by mfd. But I didn't find any reviews confirming that mfd statement.
    True?
    Surely don't want a fixed 110inch grey color ugly framed panel in my living room. And floor rising, although it seemed the perfect solution, now is off the table.

    Can you recommend a good unit to put the screen on, please? I'm in the UK and have a 120" Vividstorm ALR screen that I've recently bought, but I'm thinking of something that's around 150-170cm from Ikea or Amazon, while the screen is just under 3m in length.
    I also need to get something to put the projector on, since the depth from the wall I'd require is around 78cm, and there's nothing that goes that far out, without going bespoke. I'm in the UK. Thanks.

    The price for 110 inch screen isn’t that bad go to screen innovations and see what the fix screen 110 inches it’s gonna be three grand or more I know 144 inch screen Innovation is close to $6000. And I like the way the arms go out to keep the sides from wrinkling which is a big problem with the screen that rollout. One question mate have you tried it with a good quality projector I think JVC makes the best projectors that are hung from the ceiling or on a cabinet that say 15 feet or more back from the screen have you tried it just to see I would be curious because I bet you would still throw a mighty fine picture. I use a $600 fix screen from elite I just don’t have that kind of crazy money to spend but I would like to see a test if you could on a regular projector from a distance back. I know it’s a long question and complement but that thing looks pretty awesome. And I’m going to hit your subscribe I think he did a really good job explaining

    • @BenoSaradzic

      @@allthingstech which means that the center channel speaker has to be virtually on the ground because the projector needs to be above it. If the speaker was placed in the tiny gap between the screen and the projector, it would most likely be partially caught in the beam of light. No need for a grey screen when your room is dark. White screen with a 1.1 to 1.3 gain is much better. If want TRUE expert advice go to AVS Forum for Home Theater advice. We test everything from screens to subwoofers, projectors etc. Btw. laser projectors are still inferior to regular bulb projectors when it comes to picture quality. You are sacrificing massive amounts of picture quality for the convenience of having saving space.

    i've tried three alr screens, two high end, and even tried two others that were custom painted.... but after the novelty of much better performance in a lot of ambient light wears off, i always go back to white screens, imo white screens offer far more pop, especially with hdr material, something that you just can't get with alr (dark) sceens (imo).
