Great video dude. I must be getting old because I love everything about that bike, including the head light and even the mirrors. Honda hit a home run. I like it so much, in fact, I just bought one. I got a black one, I already love it. Thanks for sharing yours
My bike is identical to this one but it’s a 06 so still literally identical. Mine is literally all original bone stock. I got another set of stock slip ons and removed the baffles so it’s a little louder than the other stock mufflers. I almost got some aftermarket slip ons but they just don’t look as clean as the oem ones. One of the best bikes I’ve car ridden and I’m a proud owner of one for over 8 years
Great vid. Love my '06. I put a power mod, Renthal bars, grips, ends, mirrors, footpegs, and a stock Honda windscreen. Gotta be Honda red!! Have fun all.
I bought mine new in 2007 for $6000 and its been great. I added a power-commander and aftermarket muffler and then installed the map to match. I also changed the front sprocket to lower the rpm on the highway. Im 6 foot and it was a little short for me. I realized later that I could raise or lower it with the spanner wrench on the back and that made a big diff. The bike is cammed to have strong low and midrange power. When it came out it was ranked as THE HONDA RACING TEAMS FAVORITE BIKE TO RIDE ON THEIR DAY OFF.
Just bought an ‘04 back in April in the UK and I’m doing it up, back to nearly new condition. Honda are releasing a new 750 “Hornet” but it’s a lousy parallel twin, it shouldn’t even bear the name! I got my bike for a steal, with a low mileage but it needs TLC cosmetically. Searched and found your excellent video as one of the most recent about our bikes!
Awesome man! I love these bikes so much, it's a shame Honda is using a parallel twin in the new one. Nothing beats the sound and top end of an inline 4
Slapping the "Hornet" name on that 750 only makes sense from a marketing perspective. Obviously, the modern equivalents of the Hornet 600 and 900 - in terms of function, style, and the models the superseded - are the CB650R and CB1000R. They should have been Hornets and this triangular monstrosity could just be the CB750whatever.
@bikesbangs3167 to be fair. Looking back on it, I think starting on a 600 or smaller is the more sensible thing to do. But this thing rides like a dream. I had lessons on a triumph trident 660, quite liked that one as well.
I have an 04 . Came to me with broken bar and mirrors , in desperate need of tires and one foot peg . I had tires put on , I installed a national Motorsports small fairing on , ordered factory micky mouse stock mirrors with small extensions , I love them ! Lol , and you can actually see fantastic with them . Did an oil change , ordered footpegs from Amazon that look identical to stock , added a Givi monolock top case that just pops right off when not in use . Also put those weighted bar ends in the handlebars , helps with vibration. The bike came with Yoshimura exhaust. that sounds fantastic. love this bike , I have a few bikes find myself on this one 90%of the time . I do want to replace the rear mono shock . I was thinking about a power commander, but don’t know if it’s worth it. Bike goes pretty good for what I need . Oh and it’s Silver , they are the fastest 😂.. good video stay safe
I have 2007 Hornet and it’s one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned, just like my SV650. But with more power. It’s tuned, has a different exhaust, and I changed the sprockets. Yet it’s still comfortable and a great bike to just ride around the city, But when I’m in “Mexico” I can’t help but wheelie 😂 and the top speed I’ve gone on it was about “145”. Gps measured.
Very nice - of course. In UK, these are known as the Hornet 900, the "big brother" of the Hornet 600 (pre 2007 Hornet 600 that is!). Got 2 of them... "twins", very expensive twins as if I treat one the I gotta treat the other. There were many mods available: Matris damper, Nitron rear shock, PCIII, Akrapovic exhaust, Galfer brake discs, Rental bars, ceramic coated exhast downpipes, braided brake lines, silicone hoses... the list gets expensive. 🤔
I just put a deposit down for my first bike ever (Kawasaki Z400), and maybe in several years time, I'll see if I can move onto one of these, as this is a beautiful bike
Single sided swingarms are so much easier when removing the wheel and changing tires as you don't have to readjust the chain and the wheel comes off much quicker as you don't need to remove the brake caliper...
Great video ! I have 919 blue, 2003, mint condition. Can you tell me, when does the ventilator kicks in, what is the position of the temperature needle at that moment?
Great video brother I appreciate it. Awesome, I have a 2005 Honda 919 hornet except mine is black one quick question how do you remove the Tips from the stock exhaust. I’d like to do that to mine if you can get back with that I sure would appreciate. Thanks man. Awesome bikes, happy, riding brother.
Thanks dude. New DRZ400SM owner here and is how I originally found your channel I love your opinions and the bike vids ! Did I recently read something that Honda is bringing this bike back? (Hopefully)
came from the old Carby bike on the GS 1000 back in the day purchased a hornet 919 07 model. What a Suprise it was couldn't take of quick at light wanted to wheelie .... Then hit second gear front wheel would leave the pavement again without even trying the only thing i hated about the bike wasn't comfortable on trips ....then purchased 09 harley dyna superglide..with high way seat good bike but i do miss that quick acceleration from hornet.....my next bike will be 02 on wards gold wing for being comfy.and its reliability
Im looking for a japanese i4 najed bike with displacement Next year i will look for Hornet 919 X11 Cb1000r Fz1n I cant wait for the next season! Thanks for the video
Great informative video! However, totally disagree on the mirrors! There isn’t such a thing as something hideous or ugly, there are only shifts in perspective. ;) Are round mirrors ugly on classic bikes?? You’re possibly basing your preference coming from a more sporty, hooligan-ish perspective, which is fine, but whereas this bike’s universal design attempts to strike balance between classic, modern standard, and sport styles, in my humble opinion. But not a big deal though, changing mirrors out wouldn’t bother me in the least, nor would leaving them. Exhaust sounds seriously nice with what you did to the stock pipe! I was surprised thinking how good these OEM mufflers sound until you revealed how you modified it. Always hard to gauge entirely from a video, but sounded right about perfect to my old trained ears. Cheers.
Isn't the CB900F tuned down from the old carburated CBR 919 engine? I think it would at least take 4.5 seconds from 0-60mph as the CBR 919 is more like 3.28 I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying one of these engines for a track day car, as their a lot cheaper than a fuel injected CBR 954 or 1000RR engine.
No way, the CB900f (919) runs 0-60 in almost 3 seconds flat. Has 110 hp and 67ft lbs of torque. Shorter gearing than the CBR makes it really get the power to the ground. It runs 0-60 faster than my ZX10R
Hi. I just bought an 06 and I'm loving it! But I have a small concern, when I'm stuck in slow traffic my temperature starts to go up past the half mark. It doesn't get to the red but its close. Im just wondering if its common or do I need to look into its coolant system.?
Coolant system might have some air bubbles in it, coolant could just be cheap antifreeze, radiator could be dirty. I'd get Honda antifreeze, drain and flush ur system with distilled water, fill it with Honda anti freeze, burp all ur air bubbles, then spray any dirt out of our radiator. Doing that should have u running super cool
Mine gets hot also in slow traffic on hot days but the fan rarely needs to turn on. Approaches the red but never gets there. I do change my coolant every other year.
Great video dude. I must be getting old because I love everything about that bike, including the head light and even the mirrors. Honda hit a home run. I like it so much, in fact, I just bought one. I got a black one, I already love it. Thanks for sharing yours
Thanks Brian! Yeah it's definitely growing on me. It's really a great all around bike. What year is yours?
Always loved the 2003 919
Nice bike I just got a 2007 wanted to see more info good video
I’ve just found an 07 for $5000 I’m thinking about it
@@vinjane3526did you get it? I must know now
Great looking bike. I've had the 06 red 919 for over 11 years now. 50,000+ miles and still running strong.
Enjoy the video thanks.. I just bought one of these in July 2024 with around 5,000 miles on it..2007 919 CB 900 F. Great bike so far.
And it will be a great bike for a long long time 👍
I'm guessing you had to come up with $4k - $5k for that one!
I bought mine for $3500 in 2017 with 15000 miles on it, now it has 75000 and counting, best budget bike you can get...
My bike is identical to this one but it’s a 06 so still literally identical. Mine is literally all original bone stock. This bike has forever been my dream bike. She's just so beautiful!
It cruises smooth as glass and is fast as a tornado too 😎
I fell in love with how clean it was. It must have taken a lot of time and money to do this, but it's really beautiful.

I have a 2002 I love my bike ...I would definitely recommend aftermarket headers into one pipe sounds so much better and makes it look perfect👍
I have one too. A great bike and can't ask for more for its age. Also will be the biggest street bike I will ever ride in my life.
Those old motorcycles are beautiful man

@@jacksonallan954 totally agree.
I have the 2002, 22 years later still going strong.
Awesome video dude 👍🏼. I have an 04 919 and I absolutely love it !
hey yeah man! these are sweet bikes, almost just a more comfortable 600cc super sport with more torque. Too fun
@@lovelivegofast most definitely agreed!
Got one of these as my first bike last year. Love this thing.
Heck of a first bike. Yeah one of my favorite naked bikes of all time

Love this bike too, gonna find one soon.
Don’t trash it. I’ve got 84,000 hard ridden miles on mine. I wish I took better care of it. Don’t change the cop spotters either they work great.
Nice video mate, keep up the good work, I have one of this in red too, she has dual toshi pipes on, sounds glorious.
Great video !
I have 919 blue, 2003, mint condition.

Should be right around the middle
That is odd. I looked on a several Hornets and it is passed the middle.
So I was wondering about yours, to compare..

When these were new I thought the pipes were hideous so I bought a new green ZRX1200.

I actually really like the stock mirrors! They suit the style of the bike.
I took mine off, sanded the backs, taped the shaft and painted the backs flat black enamel. Looks great and keeps the round black theme.
