ALL channels have the same things, basically people and the latest fads. Everyone just likes watching their favorite channels participate. Right now, South Korean culture is a major fad.
Which is understandable because these channels is about korean people learning new things and in asia there is still a stigma on being skinny.. couple years ago it was the same for us (in the west)
It's a good thing, it's shows that they are reaching out to understand and other groups are open to want to learn more about them it also shows that while many Younger people are willing to be open minded, some are less so but are accepting the open-mindedness in others. That is a big improvement and it's an improvement that seems to be happening in all cultures except for the ones/people that want to cling to the past out of fear and the have inability to change and adapt
Also a lot of people kind of demonise the asian countries because of their high beauty standards, America also has their high (not the same obvi) standards too. Even though most of the youth don’t really care as much as the west perceives them

@@spoofy0760 It is her body shape! Right now, currently, it's her body shape. If I meant the one she was born with, I would have said "natural body shape".
Just a head's up... a VERY common mistake, but the word "glamorous" does not mean what you think it means. Koreans think it means 'voluptuous', referring to women with curves. It doesn't have this meaning at all in English. For example, in English, Katherine Hepburn (a classic movie actress) is very glamorous -- not very curvy at all. Audrey Hepburn is glamorous too.. and she is the opposite of curvy. Glamorous, in English, has more to do with luxury, grace, style... it has virtually NOTHING to do with the shape of the body. I've even seen this mistake in the subtitles of Korean dramas, so it's not just you, but well... for future reference, the Korean word "glamorous" and the English word "glamorous" don't mean the same thing at all.
Actually they used it correctly. A “glamorous body” type refers to a “Marilyn Monroe” body type. (a body type that is curvy/chubby) at least by Korean standards. It’s a figure of speech that many people use to describe that type of figure
I used to teach English in Korea. The English word "glamorous" is synonymous with "curvy" in Korea-- it's not a mistake. Many Koreans who are fluent in English understand the English meaning of "glamorous," but when used in a sentence while speaking in Korean, "glamorous" is a loanword that means "curvy." This is a case of a word from one language taking on a new meaning in a different language. In a linguistic context, we would say that the original meaning of the English word is adapted into a new, but still valid context. Just like "hot" and "bad" are used by Americans as slang to express attractiveness, rather than their literal meanings, Koreans have taken the English word "glamorous" and adapted it for use in a way that is meaningful to them. I used to get confused by this too (especially when I was living in Korea and getting called glamorous), so I thought that I would share. :)
@@Marieemilyocean And openning agrees with you on "glamorous" being synonymous with "curvy" in Korea, hence why they stated what they did in their second sentence. I believe they're just pointing out that when translating, one should use proper word sense for the intended audience to understand what is being said. So, as "glamorous" does not mean "curvy" in English, even if Koreans use "glamorous" in English, it should be translated as "curvy" or "voluptuous" to get the point across that "glamorous" here is not synonymous with what native speakers would generally use that word for.
I feel like they never put an in between. It goes from the skinny girl to the plastic surgery super curvy girl. Can’t they just put a natural girl with medium size curves and some fat??
I think the reason the didn't that is because that's very normal and they prolly see it everday so there isn't gonna be much of an exaggerated reaction.
I find that Vanessa Hudgens is a good model of "in-between". She is certaintly not too skinny or skinny in my eyes and has enough meat on her bones that looks healthy.
Rachel Wonders i dont think Vanessa is medium size. I think she is still in the smaller side. I mean something like Barbara Palvin or even rihanna? Like they literally chose the pic of Scarlett Johansson when she was the most skinny instead of the ones when she put muscle mass for the latest avengers...

I think Ashley Graham is one of the most gorgeous people I've ever seen. Her body is bangin! But I knew the moment her photo was on the screen that they would get nervous and awkward and sure enough they did. I want to reassure any woman who watched this video and thinks these two men speak for all Korean men that they most certainly do NOT. There are many many Korean men who love and appreciate different bodies of all sizes and shapes and colors just like anywhere else in the world. You do not have to look like Scarlet Johansson or Venessa Hudgens to be considered beautiful. You are amazing just as you are and never let anyone else make you think otherwise.
I wish yall would do this with more average bodies or more diverse body shapes. Of course they're gonna like all the obviously attractive model body types.
They're probably so polite that even if a body profile isn't their type, they're not going to say it on camera. Note that neither said Scarlett Johansson was their favorite, even after seeing how she looked having lost weight and in the contoured costume. Even that degree of hourglass shape wasn't their favorite, let alone the other women with even more curves. Other body types that don't conform to Korean beauty standards don't stand a chance, unfortunately.
@@flinx right? with the way they exclaimed over scarlett johansson i thought that would be the favorite pick, but as expected the real favorites were the thinnest least curvy despite them saying they thought Korean men/women's preferences for female bodies were different lol.
I’m so happy I’m a westerner sometimes, cause I find that unlike Koreans we have a gigantic open-mindedness about ideal of beauty/body. Everyone has different preferences and I think it’s great that we’re able to think that everyone has a beautiful body or just don’t care about it
Exactly! It doesn't matter if you have blond/red/black/brown or even crazy coloured hair, if you have lighter or darker skin, muscles or a little more fat. I think we embrace a lot of types! at least I do lol
I feel like when you grow up in an environment of people who look, speak, act in a similar way as you without experiencing different cultures has an effect of not really needing to be as open minded as a country who is known for its diversity and alll different types of people living and sharing the same space. I am not saying that there isn’t some type of diversity and open mindedness in such countries like this but I don’t think you can compare it. America is a really unique country.
Kelly Zhao first of all your name is Kelly too!😂 Anyway lol I understand what you mean. When I said that I didn’t want to sound rude I wanted to explain the differences of open mindedness that I felt between Asian countries and Western countries : America but also Europe etc (I’m from France)
And Korea is one of the top countries with plastic surgery per capita in the world. What’s your fucking point? It’s still considered a “Western standard.”
Another translation note -- you keep translating 엉덩이 as hips -- when they are clearly talking about butts. In English, hips and butts are very different -- hips are the side, butt is the back. Women do not look at men's 'hips'... that is the strangest sentence I've ever heard, lol! Women (and some men) like to look at men's butts.
@@beccangavin Yeah, in Korean the word 엉덩이 means both 'hips' and 'butt', but for some reason, Koreans don't learn this, and they always use the word 'hips' when they try to translate it.

Hila my love, don't let other people's preferences determine how you feel about yourself. Learn to love yourself. Start with one thing on your body or personality that you like. Compliment yourself on it daily. This is how I started. I'm still learning but I definitely have better self esteem than before. There is someone who can love you just the way you are,but you cannot expect it from someone else if you can't do it yourself. 💖💖💖
I mean, as a guy, I can say that eyes are really important. For some reason they are one of the most important features of which make a womans face beautiful. I have no idea why. it's just what it is.
I feel like my definition of fat and theirs would be completely different. If someone has some pudge, that's not fat. If someone can take up two plane seats, now.. that's big.
Umm... what they call fat is the same as for us but only for westerners' appearance. Example : Beyonce is "glamorous" (sexy curvy in korean slang) for koreans. But a korean girl with her body type is perceived as fat. Btw rule is the same for both genders. If a guy is chubby he is chubby if non-asian and obese if korean.
@@p.r.9982 so I mean it's technically not the same. If westerners think a person is average and they think that person is chubby then it's essentially not the same perspective. If they consider a western person who is 5' 5 and 140 lbs who is curvy to be glamorous and a korean person who is essentially the same to be chubby or fat, then it feels like double standards. Like you can try to be healthy, but some people are naturally chubby because of genetics, and they dont eat like an elephant. Like there was a Korean plus size model who exercised and everything and was healthy, but she was bigger than the stereotypical korean model. They might assume that chubby means unhealthy and lazy, but that's not the case all the time. Chubby korean girls are beautiful too and chubby korean guys.
@@paleindian10 I think you misunderstood me. If you're chubby in the west you are also STILL chubby in Korea because you're a foreigner. If you're sexy curvy in the west you're sexy curvy in Korea too as long as you're a westerner. They find thick, curvy and even big attractive on westerners and know the differences just like we do. My point is their definition of fat is THE SAME AS YOURS... until you're korean. The rule changes if you are korean ethnically. If you are korean, they see anything beyond slim as as fat. They simply judge their race more harshly that's all. Yes there's a double standard but oh well. Not my problem. Life is unfair for everyone. In the west most asian men are perceived as short although they're not, unless they're Jeremy Lin. But non-asian men are magically all perceived differently and are diverse. Similar problem. Life is unfair again, oh well. God bless.
The Kim K champagne shot is extremely, *extremely* photoshopped. At least show the real version of it. You should show them actual "western" bodies and not the bodies of celebrities that have millions to get the body they have 🙄
Their reactions are so cute :D But, seriously, I don't think that anyone can be born with body like Kim Kardashian or Nicki Minaj. It's pretty obvious they went under the knife to obtain such look.
Actually Nicki Minaj's body is a lot more natural looking and more realistic than Kim's body. Nicki's body is really close to a lot of African American body shapes
@@matisongriffie1386 I don't think so. I mean African American do tend to have bigger lower body (and often cute smaller upper body) but not to that extent. I love their natural curvies, their hips are so freaking sexy, but Nicki isn't like that for me. Her proportions are strange (enormous hips and breast, tiny waist). I'm not saying there's something wrong with the way Nicki looks like (it's not to my liking, but it doesn't have to be, it's not my body to decide about its shape), I'm just saying she wasn't born with that look.
I want a part 2 with like Instagram models or youtubers or something where like there are different body shapes and heights used. Also maybe discussing other features that westerners (not just Americans or Europeans have either) and why they like it, like freckles, hair types, glasses, teeth, etc.
Ya, honestly theirs only sooo much you can cover in a 20 min video. If you tried covering it all it’d be very long 😂 and despite Korea’s lack of knowledge and how sheltered they are from the rest of the world they do really try their best to be respectful
@@alexiswoods4616 it's a joke and itll take forever to explain in yt comment. But I meant Africa loves thick girls. Skinny girls arent first choice and we always get told to eat more and get thicker. Africa likes thick girls

there is a difference. if u look at seolhyun’s body u can tell she works out. she has muscles/toned legs and her butt is “perky” compared to krystal who is skin and bones. yes they are not “curvy” when compared to western standards but there is definitely a body type difference btn the two girls.

They didn't said that plus size women were lazy, just that a lot of people in Korea could be thinking that. And they said that all the women of the video were beautiful.
Plus size is usually because of their diet or lack of exercise though. This was sweet but we already knew curvy shapes were not Korean mens cup of tea Americans already went through idolizing skinny frames and it lead to a lot of young people getting anorexia and bulimia back in the 70's and 80's ie: women were shamed for not being skinny or for having large body parts ie:breasts/butts/thighs Some time in the late 80's 90's people started to realize that those were impossible standards for 90% of the population because most western woman naturally had curves Late 90's people focused on fitness healthy body and curves if you had them sometimes with impossible standards 2000's focused on body dysmorphia, individuality and the realization that everyone had their own needs/ each body was different so they needed to love it and take care of it
@@carpet498 It was more of an appreciation of the natural curves Black women had because before there was zero representation /WOC were shamed and called slutty just for looking the way they did not matter what they wore. Not all black women are larger or curvy esp when you branch out into the diaspora. Also the west has an obesity crisis so just because we've addressed strict expectations of body shapes, doesn't mean that most westerners have paid attention to health. This is putting a heavy strain on healthcare systems across the globe. I don't have a problem with Korean beauty standards or their culture personally. I notice they care a lot about health and being healthy and fit, which isn't a negative thing. I feel like since their culture has become more visible, westerners project their opinions on to them a lot. Their society is completely different and I can't see it changing much.
@@PieceMeals Okay so talk about how plastic surgery for their face is very common. I mean. If you're going to call out westerners having an "obesity problem" then call out Korea for having a problem with having surgeries to look more like a westerner. Most Koreans have naturally round facial cheeks and sort of what we call a double chin and monoloid eyes. But they go in to have their eyes changed to double eyelid, get that jawline nice and slim and remove that fat under their chin. So, if you're going to critique one country then talk about this also. You don't have a problem with their beauty standard? But how in the heck are you able to trust just how naturally pretty they are when most of the Korean women go under the knife to alternate their face? The one thing I'll give them credit for is that at least their surgeons make their faces look more realistic than the surgeons in the west. Westerners surgeons botch up so many facial features where you can obviously tell someone had work done. But in Korea it looks more natural for the most part so how can anyone trust that that person really looks that way? Or just wait until they marry someone only to have kids who are not attractive looking like they thought was going to happen by marrying someone with good looks. I mean. look what happened to that Asian man that sued his wife for having ugly kids.

To be completely honest, it is difficult in Korea. There is a lot of body shaming and ableism. It is front and center at all times. There is a very small mold of what is considered acceptable that even Korean people find extremely hard to fit into. BUT there are many Korean people who love and appreciate bodies of all shapes and sizes. There are many Korean men who love plus size women, curvey women, thicc women etc. There is definitely size stigma in Korea but to say that all Korean people only find very thin bodies attractive is not true. More than anything, they will admire you for your confidence. A good personality shines through no matter where you go in the world. You have to own who you are and to hell with the haters, those aren't your kind of people anyway. Don't let it hold you back, live your life without apologizing to those who choose to have a narrow-minded view of the world. That is their problem to deal with. not yours. ❤️

Thank you I didn’t know that they accidentally did that but I was confused about what they meant🙏
Ashley Graham isn't plastic, but I'd say Scarlett Johansson was a good in between from big curvy to skinny.

I feel like when you grow up in an environment of people who look, speak, act in a similar way as you without experiencing different cultures has an effect of not really needing to be as open minded as a country who is known for its diversity and alll different types of people living and sharing the same space. Another translation note -- you keep translating 엉덩이 as hips -- when they are clearly talking about butts. In English, hips and butts are very different -- hips are the side, butt is the back.
God bless.
@@p.r.9982 k. God bless.

@@matisongriffie1386 Yup agreed
@@matisongriffie1386 I don't think so. I mean African American do tend to have bigger lower body (and often cute smaller upper body) but not to that extent. I like the way these videos get Koreans out of there comfort zone and help them see the different ways people are in the rest of the world
This was sweet but we already knew curvy shapes were not Korean mens cup of tea
Americans already went through idolizing skinny frames and it lead to a lot of young people getting anorexia and bulimia back in the 70's and 80's ie: women were shamed for not being skinny or for having large body parts ie:breasts/butts/thighs
Some time in the late 80's 90's people started to realize that those were impossible standards for 90% of the population because most western woman naturally had curves
Late 90's people focused on fitness healthy body and curves if you had them sometimes with impossible standards
2000's focused on body dysmorphia, individuality and the realization that everyone had their own needs/ each body was different so they needed to love it and take care of it
I thought the whole being thicc thing came from the rise of Hip Hop culture and it's women??
@@carpet498 It was more of an appreciation of the natural curves Black women had because before there was zero representation /WOC were shamed and called slutty just for looking the way they did not matter what they wore.
All of the ads and clothes were made with the Supermodel frame in mind
Broad shoulders
flat breast (or fake big ones depending on the crowd )
flat bottoms
So Hip Hop and Rap was a group that had BW and we liked ourselves it was expressed in our music
Our men appreciated our curves and love them
we loved our bodies because we were born into them and our bodies looks like our families bodies and we thought and think our family is beautiful and nothing to be ashamed of
again that is expressed in the music and culture
Now we are again fully embracing our Bodies, our hair texture and our skin color because we couldn't do it before or we would be penalized
in some places we are still punished for our hair texture
So basically yes the Hip Hop culture does embrace and express a lot of love for curves because that's who Black People are
Most of us are mixed with a lot of groups
And it's good to see it spread to other cultures over the years
and people are embracing their personal beauty
BP dont worry about acceptance we can's because we have learned that unless people are open minded they will always believe stereotypes and choose to follow the crowd because that's what's easier for them
We still have to live our lives and to do that we have to love ourselves
@@PieceMeals While it is true not all black woman are large or curvy it is also true that most are and curvy doesn't mean large/fat it just means shapes. Like some group of people have long noses, or noses with bumps or noses that are wide, BW have a propensity to be born with larger hips, or thighs or busts or bottoms...some times one or another or all of the above it's genetic and no amount of exercise will make these things disappear or get smaller
The obesity crisis is global but here in the states much of that comes from types of foods available to everyone and serving sizes
Not everyone here has access to a healthy diet
For some folks they may not have access to fresh food at all
it is usually cheaper to eat processed food
people want large portions for the price
as much as they can get and that does lead to health problems
also you have to keep in mind that certain interest groups/political groups may have control over the food and drug admin, the surgeon general ect ...you never know what they will push or allow
Black people lost much of the foods their bodies were used to and or healthy recipes
Most modern Black people are a mixture of several tribes of people black/white/native/asian who had to learn how to survive with little to nothing and only the knowledge they were "allowed" to acquire/create
Eating habits are changing now that people are taking better care of themselves but it's mostly with the younger crowd
Asian and Black people have a "unusual" history together and I have noticed that the relationship improves daily
Both groups are learning that they have a lot to offer/learn from each other and neither group is better than another.
They wouldn't like me in Korea based off of what they said about bigger people 🙈🤣🤣.

I’m black and not super skinny so I’m already not the type 😂
I love Jasmine and Vanessa, I've always thought they were drop dead gorgeous! Wasn't surprised with the picks though as I've lived in Korea and I know their type to the T.
Agree
legit terrified of going to korea for the exact same reasons they mentioned while talking about ashley graham. i'm so confident about myself here in california, but i've had friends who are smaller than me break down from the societal pressure koreans have in regards to weight, so i'm genuinely scared to visit :(
To be completely honest, it is difficult in Korea. That is their problem to deal with. not yours. ❤️
Own your curves sweetie! You’re stunning btw
Salty Egg yeah there is no way I could live in a place where only one type of body is considered attractive. It’s messed up! So yeah agree with the toxic nature
Yeah I turned down a job offer in RoK when I was overweight because I was terrified I'd be looked down on. Videos like these reaffirmed my decision. I also have never felt like someone telling me I'm "so confident" is a compliment; always seems more like they couldn't find anything nice to say about me other than I was so brave to exist in a fat body.
I probably still wouldn't go if I were offered the same job with my "new" body lol
I lived in Korea for two years and I’m fat. They told me to my face I needed to walk allllll the time but other than that they were really nice. I got free stuff a lot and most people said nice things to me. You may struggle to find clothing BUT don’t think your weight will ruin your experience. You can have a fabulous time in Korea. Foreigners aren’t held to as strict a standard as Koreans are so go and have fun!
Ho Seung, sweetheart, so glad you are open to new experiences. 😉
So, basically anything above a size 0 makes them uncomfortable 🤣😂😭
"(size) 4 or fat" is something I heard in Korea. Meaning anything bigger than that is considered chubby or overweight. It's really sad how close-minded they are about beauty. I'm not saying they should be expected to like EVERY body type but how bout more than just two?
Well I mean Scarlett isn't a size 0 lol she's toned but has a decent amount of curves.
🤣🤣🤣 they care about appearance A LOT 🤣🤣😂
South Korea beauty standards is so scary and strict..
what??? but most kpop idols look like a size 2
Aww so sweet someone finaly appreciates us tall girls
OMG it's so hard being a women i can't handle it anymore, i always wanted to be a cat, why has god made me this way. T~T
Lol, a cat🤣
@@angelaaddison9872 a cat for sure 😩
I like how they were able to do this while being respectful still and appreciating all the different types, like they gave reasoning behind each thought rather than just saying they like or don’t like it
Since the begin of the video I knew they would go for the skinnier girls😂
Honesty 😍😍😍
I respect these two 🙇♀️
them: "being fat is considered lazy in Korea"
me: just a second ago, my dad said im fat cus im lazy...mmhmm typical asian family
i work out everyday, my body is just voluptuous like Hwasa. now im taking my diet to extreme level but i won't starve myself since it's not worth it
Do you live in the west or east?
@@SophiaStfleur Southeast Asia 😁
@@littlepotatogirl6895 cool! my mom and my dad tell my friends and I we fat when we gain weight. Then my dad will turn around and say he's sexy and I need to lose weight to get sexy like him. Then when I go to my friend's house her grandma stay telling us we're fat, both of our families savage lol
@@NiinasJournal you have no idea how crazy it is here about being fat... are you from Europe?
@@SophiaStfleur lolll my dad always compares me to my younger sister, she's skinny, only weighs 94.7lbs. they are treating me like the biggest 🤣 im not that big, im just so curvy, more like pear shaped body and big chest 🤣 May i know which country are you living?
doja cat body is reality an without filter. She's a thick legend. (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
"10 out of 10"-2pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YESS THANK YOU FOR CATCHING THAT 😂 I felt old for a second
@@dayfly4004 LMAO, I'm a hottest so It's important for me XD. But no worry, we're a both old now XD
I loved this! Simple and honest!
For me i don't find korean girls shape is so Attractive a lot. 😥 They're too skinny sometimes u find a girl with 46 kg and she keep saying that she must go on diet wtf 🙃 western girls looks so healthy and more confident about their looks
@Salty EggYeah exactly, I've heard about this before 🤦♀️ this is really heartbreaking the women in Korea are suffering a lot. They're always shy about their looks and weight just because boys don't like that wtf. I can't imagine myself living in a judgemental society like that.
@Salty Egg my point was just that girls should not think what guys want them to look like. If someone wants to be 168cm and 40kg then she can be it.
I think the same
These two make the perfect duo lol. They understand each other so well haha!
When he said
"When i gain weight ,it shows up on my face."
I FELT THAT😔
Feels like they need a pt 2😂😂😂
Hahaha I can't wait to land in Korea with my 103cm, 69cm, 106cm!!
Kim K and Nikki have the best figures in this video 😍😍😍
I can't wait to have my plastic surgery to look like them
So cute how they say hips when they really mean butt
When he started singing 2PM's 10 out of 10 I cackled.
Hate to be that guy but this one guy has a haircut that makes him looks lowkey like Kim Jong Un
Lmaoo
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Give me your phone 🤳🏿
The combined "~𝔀𝓸𝓪𝓪𝓪𝓪𝓪𝓱~" and all the comments like "silent awe" and "NOBODY DISLIKES THAT!"
So funny, and kinda adorable.
React to African artists and African music
The 2PM "10 Out of 10" reference is everything.
I must be a Korean guy in my soul.
I died at the “ ahhhh Nicki Minaj” 😂😂😂 sounded so Mexican too when he said it that way 😂😂 6:37
you shouldn’t feel the need to comment on anyone’s body that isn’t your own .
I love the cadence of the Korean language but I especially love the code switching with a few English words.
Same
Have they ever watched Anaconda by Nicky Minaj? I wonder how their expressions would be like.
omg i havent heard 2pm's 10 out of 10 in everyday convos in a while :)
They say all Koreans aren't the same but every video that I watched about western women and their body types are the same........ When they see women with curves they act like it's a whole new world for them 😑
Not everyone is skinny, we are made to be different to alike were unique for a reason..😑🤦♀️🙄
But even in Korea there's women with curvy figure so..... I still don't get it 🙄
Girrrl🤦 this is like your third comment 😩 Quit buggin😒
You must be fat or something 😂 if these videos bother you that much 😭😭😂😐
@@julianamartinez9425 bitch your dumb if you think that's the reason
@@julianamartinez9425 I can see that your white and uneducated so I won't say much all Imma say is mind you business .... if I say something does that mean I'm buggin??? Oml I can see your like 12-14 you need to chill
@Dayiiz everyone is unique so why judge them base on their body type
One thing I always pickup in these videos is that Koreans have an admiration for self-management lol as they perceive those with slimmer and fit bodies to have great discipline. Which is not always the case
Lazy??? I wish I was lazy like her kkkk. Its lazy to be bigger but it's OK to starve to be a kpop idol kkkkk. I'm sure that's not the message they trying to come a cross. It's just generals people's opinion and I'm not offended for that. But she far from being lazy.
100% She’s a freaking Olympic swimmer!! And a lot of people have metabolic disorders, hormonal imbalances, etc. that contribute to their weight
@@natd602 its true. She's pretty good shape. She just choose to be the way she is. She's just on the curve side. She's not obese at all.. I wish I wasn't lazy and had her body kkkkk
The two men picked the right bodies especially the first one 🤠
First comment owo
Lol "not sure we have clothes that fit on her"
Me a thick black girl in a korean clothing store: nothing in here fits me 🤣🤣
The toxic masculinity in this video is giving me a massive headache
I love this guys too much
