I stopped watching k-dramas because they are to bad when it comes to every kind of moment in different scenes and it feels like it’s a target version of American movies or other ones lol.
I can only agree to the guys comments. Korean romance doesnt exist. When you saw 1 movie, you have seen all. Always the same pattern. No erotic, no sexyness, but cut, cut cut when it comes to bodycontact. But hitting and drinking and eating until you fall asleep.

They're not all that different in that area. There are many koreans who sleep around before marriage when they date, it's just not a topic that's talked about a lot. I've had classmates who were Korean who have said that even though they have slept around they will lie and say they haven't because that's the image they are expected to portray. 😑 so basically, they'll act clueless, even though they know...you know. But I agree, their reactions were pretty cute.

I don't agree. K-Dramas are not even soft core erotic. As an actor, I get frustrated when they build up the erotic physical tension, and then when they are about to get physical, the scene gets blured out and moves on to the end of everything. That's just boring and can be a put off. Mostly, just like Thai, Chinese, Korean can't kiss, and when they do, they have a weird way of kissing, and they do make a lot of smoochy noises, things that I find irritating and horrible
You guys are too blinded by shows like 50 shades or Euphoria. Not every US show/movie is like that. Just like not every Kdrama is pure. Just finished watching K!ll bok-soon on Netflix, the girl had very nice ... 'ride' right from the begging of the show if you know what I mean...

It's not about the 'modesty' or 'leaving something up to the imagination' for me. I don't care about that. What I like about K-dramas is that they read eachother's signals more, and respect eachother's boundaries by waiting for signs that the other is attracted back. One thing I do like about most being more reserved, is that it seems to be considered valuable and memorable information when one learns something personal about the other person's likes and feelings. When there's this kind of careful attitude towards getting to know eachother, it feels really earned and awesome if they then act on their sexual tension 🤷

I have just recently got into Asian Drama's and of my favourite things really is the romantic scenes, how pure they are, there is nothing hanging out, it is all just left to the imagination. Yes at times I think they can do more especially those kissing scenes with lips just pressing on each other or the attitude that sex is not a part of relationship
Im hopeful love/sex scenes have come further, even if just a bit. Only a few years ago, a "make out" consisted of the backs of 2 peoples heads, you never see their faces or lips touch. 3/4 back profile at best. The koreans reacting to it were clutching their pearls and fanning themselves at what a "hot steamy" scene it was. Or in a string of kdramas where we don't even get a chu or lip press or kiss. Instead we literally get just two faces making contact .004 contact of lips and BIG EYES. No actually smush or indication of pressing. Like if you were alone and another person was alone and both of your mouths were closed and neutral not doing anything and suddenly you were both teleported and your lips ever so slightly grazed one another just out of proximity. That was the tour de force kiss of the day for a long LOOONG time. Glad it seems to be trending progressively upwards.
As a Canadian who's been watching lot of kdramas lately, I will say: the Korean clips shocked me because they seemed so explicit by Korean standards, whereas the Western clips seemed very tame compared to what else is out there. I thought they were gonna go straight Game of Thrones. Hell, a lot of the new shows coming out lately have actual explicit sex scenes, like Bridgerton. But maybe scenes like that would have given these poor boys a heart attack LOL
I thought the same thing. I'm American and have watched a ton of K-dramas and have never seen scenes with that intense deep kissing. They usually do a short kiss or just press their lips together for a while and hold the shot.. The 2nd one they were so embarrassed watching was like 25 secs. The 3rd one with the couple in the bed kissing with his shirt off! Never seen that in a K-drama. SPOILER: I just finished True Beauty and I was surprised they had a kissing scene in the bed but they were fully clothed. 🤭 Even more surprised that it eluded to something more happening but it panned off like "a dining scene ending with them picking up a spoon." 😂
Yes... the Western clips they showed were quite tame. Western love scenes can get quite explicit even on non-cable stations. They were embarrassed at the long Korean kiss scene. They would pass out from GOT or Bridgerton. Bridgerton made me blush and cover my face but I still couldn't turn away. 🙈👀😂
OUTLANDER has been VERY explicit from episode one. Bridgerton is tame, compared to Black Sails. Still, Black Sails was a storytelling work of art in every possible way. The last episode of season 2 lives in my dreams.

Bc they build it up and it just feels much more romantic in kdramas and american shows just make it feel like a norm lol or like nothing which is why so many american teenagers have really unrealistic expectations of their first kiss, first time etc. But kdramas always got me way more excited even if they don't kiss I be like "ohmygodohmygodmygodddd ahhhhhhh" 😂
I think it’s also how the scenes are being presented. American shows will just have the characters go for it and the music is usually fast-paced or what not. I feel like for k-dramas there’s not only the build up, but they happen to emphasize on the feelings of each character. They’re not like, “OMG. I love you. Let’s have s*x.” It’s the Feelings!
Ikr, kdramas usually build a bond between the characters before making them kiss, or sometimes we don't get a kiss at all. American shows? Yea, there's definitely gonna be a kiss, no question to it.
Yea I think its the build-up of kdramas that gets me so hyped. I was watching a kdrama the other day and there FINALLY was a kiss scene. I got so excited that I started to bang/hit stuff like my bed and chair at 2 am trying not to scream, and my sister concerningly texted me saying that she thought someone was trying to break in our house, but it was just my excited ass LMAOO.

Jeon Hyejin they have a really good setup right now. These 2 are a great reaction comedy duo, plus the banter between them and the girl bts PLUS whoever the editor is that helps provide extra laughs. Quality content.
Jeon Hyejin it's an all-star cast, hope they can keep this formula. There are a lot of channels where the chemistry just doesn't work or the editor is really bad and ruins scenes. But here, they have everything going for them and people were watching.
Korean dramas have come a long way when it comes to the kiss scenes! I personally prefer the slow burn romance over the fast and furious speed of romance in western media.
I actually thought about it as well- I have never seen/heard korean mention GoT even though it is the most famous show around the world. I wonder if it was actually popular in Korea.
Italian, French movies might confuse them with how they show nudity. With American movies the sex scenes are more more laid back and fancy like how they shot it really carefully in certain angles only but the French , Italian movies I watched, god they were too elaborate and almost pornographic if I didn't know it was feature film and if there wasnt the plot and the characters.
The thing all western countries have in common is American culture lol. In Europe alot of of the things we have in common whether we´re greek, german, spanish etc alot of the food(fastfood), style(athleisure), popculture even all the loanwords we all have in common is american. Western is alot but American culture is the one ingrained the most western societies besides our seperate ones.

Kdramas are usually very tame with affection when they choose to include it and most do have a long way to go. The kissing scene in the closet is definitely the exception. I have just recently got into Asian Drama's and of my favourite things really is the romantic scenes, how pure they are, there is nothing hanging out, it is all just left to the imagination. Yes at times I think they can do more especially those kissing scenes with lips just pressing on each other or the attitude that sex is not a part of relationship

Only a few years ago, a "make out" consisted of the backs of 2 peoples heads, you never see their faces or lips touch. 3/4 back profile at best. The koreans reacting to it were clutching their pearls and fanning themselves at what a "hot steamy" scene it was.
Or in a string of kdramas where we don't even get a chu or lip press or kiss. Instead we literally get just two faces making contact .004 contact of lips and BIG EYES. No actually smush or indication of pressing. Like if you were alone and another person was alone and both of your mouths were closed and neutral not doing anything and suddenly you were both teleported and your lips ever so slightly grazed one another just out of proximity. That was the tour de force kiss of the day for a long LOOONG time. Glad it seems to be trending progressively upwards.

As a Canadian who's been watching lot of kdramas lately, I will say: the Korean clips shocked me because they seemed so explicit by Korean standards, whereas the Western clips seemed very tame compared to what else is out there. I thought they were gonna go straight Game of Thrones. Hell, a lot of the new shows coming out lately have actual explicit sex scenes, like Bridgerton. But maybe scenes like that would have given these poor boys a heart attack LOL

I thought the same thing. I'm American and have watched a ton of K-dramas and have never seen scenes with that intense deep kissing. They usually do a short kiss or just press their lips together for a while and hold the shot.. The 2nd one they were so embarrassed watching was like 25 secs. The 3rd one with the couple in the bed kissing with his shirt off! Never seen that in a K-drama. SPOILER: I just finished True Beauty and I was surprised they had a kissing scene in the bed but they were fully clothed. 🤭 Even more surprised that it eluded to something more happening but it panned off like "a dining scene ending with them picking up a spoon." 😂
Yes... the Western clips they showed were quite tame. Western love scenes can get quite explicit even on non-cable stations. They were embarrassed at the long Korean kiss scene. They would pass out from GOT or Bridgerton. Bridgerton made me blush and cover my face but I still couldn't turn away. 🙈👀😂

OUTLANDER has been VERY explicit from episode one. Bridgerton is tame, compared to Black Sails. Still, Black Sails was a storytelling work of art in every possible way. The last episode of season 2 lives in my dreams.

I think it’s also how the scenes are being presented. American shows will just have the characters go for it and the music is usually fast-paced or what not. I feel like for k-dramas there’s not only the build up, but they happen to emphasize on the feelings of each character. They’re not like, “OMG. I love you. Let’s have s*x.” It’s the Feelings!
Ikr, kdramas usually build a bond between the characters before making them kiss, or sometimes we don't get a kiss at all. American shows? Yea, there's definitely gonna be a kiss, no question to it.
Yea I think its the build-up of kdramas that gets me so hyped. I was watching a kdrama the other day and there FINALLY was a kiss scene.
