She accidentally pointed one out to us one night because she was scoping it out, waiting for her opportunity to snatch it up, but luckily she wasn’t able to.

Those things are so loud and dogs have such good hearing AND it’s inside it’s mouth.
Idk how the dog is tolerating it.
They have great smell. Hearing - some breeds do, some don't,, but having great hearing doesn't mean everything is louder. 🤦♂️ They can simply hear from further away and pin point the source much better than we. If you see better it doesn't mean you see things bigger.

Had a similar incident with a buzzing cat and a dragonfly. Differences was "What are you doing?" got a meow that released the massive thing into the living room and made for a very distressed cat who's new toy was thrown outside by his human.

Mine had a 747 sized cockroach in its mouth. The other two cats began chasing the first cat all over the apt. First cat leaps onto my lap, followed by the other two cats; first cat spits out bug, in my lap, whereas all of us, including damp bug, are levitating six feet thru the air in all directions.
Upon landing, cat 2 and cat 3 are hot on the tail of scuttling bug, who is dispatched by two sets of feline teeth.
Cat baths all around that night. (My cats liked getting baths - train them young)

One of our cats came running onto the veranda with a cicada in her mouth. Both her and the cicada were making noises at the same time. I wondered what on earth was going on for a moment.
When I was a kid our cat caught a cicada.
No she did not bring it to us. She just left it on the floor in the dining room....
...Where I later STEPPED ON IT with bare feet, just walking through the room.

Reminds me of the time our dog had a roach stuck in his Schnauzer beard and he was running towards us for head pats and I'm like "hell nah!". I run away and he thinks we playing a game. One of my friends had THE WORST, walking her dog in the morning before work, her dog found a DEAD MOUSE and just wanted to keep it in her mouth like the dog here. My friend said that as she was trying to figure out what the dog had in her mouth, then she could see the tail hanging out.
She kept trying to get it away from the dog -- she didn't want a mangled mouse left in her house!
As she was was telling this story, shortly after it happened, I asked, "What did you do next?!!!"... Expecting she would tell me how she got the dog's mouth open. (She's a very capable person.)
She replied, "Then I started throwing up, so I tried to go to an out-of-the-way place to puke."
😂 I told she was capable!
Somehow she did eventually get the dead mouse out of her dog's mouth. Put the dog back in her apartment and called work to say, "I'm going to be late; I'll explain when I get there."

My sister had a rescue cat and dog. The cat stopped pooping and had to have an operation at the vets. Turned out it didn't stop pooping, the dog was just eating all the poop out of the litter tray like an open buffet

I would say her name, sternly, and she would retreat with her head down and ears pulled back. She knew I did not want her doing that. My husband said she wanted a crunch bar. Dogs are as bad as children. They are such characters. Thank you for making me laugh and bringing back a funny memory of my old girl.
