Thank you so much! I'm 35. Never had a dog before. Bought myself a puppy. I had my suspicions, and while listening to this video, I noticed several symptoms. He's not abused or being aggressive or anything, but i realized i was basically treating him like a cat. I went over to him and started giving him attention, didn't pick him up, (Which i would before,) and kept talking to him, gave him a treat, and let him come closer to me when he felt comfortable, and he COMPLETELY opened up. He's not even 4 months old, and i realized, thanks to this video, that although i wasn't treating him "badly, " i wasn't giving him NEARLY as much attention and affection as he needs. He's been through a lot the last few months, and i didn't realize id been neglecting him. Thank you. ❤
@@stagename1031 excellent-ly..lol We have a really nice dog park that we go to on the regular, and he's not acting all weird or distant anymore. Thanks for asking. :-)
also if your angry at something dont raise your voice no matter who your a. Even if its not the dog he will think your angry at him. also they positively respond to a higher pitch voice ill do that and also use my normal deep voice. My dog has a dog door and slleps in my b.room if he want to sleep in my bed thats ok. Also good idea to brush his teeth daily . i had cat that didnt get teeth brushed and developed infection and made her kidneys smll and irregular which killed her. good luck with your furry family member'
Dogs are basically toddlers with fur. If you want to bond with your dog, treat them as you would a toddler you care about. Don’t use loud voices or sudden erratic moves. Set boundaries for behavior in a firm but kind manner. Never hit or shout at a dog in anger. Establish routines and stick to them. Spend time walking and playing with your dog. Talk to them in a conversational voice often and reinforce words you want them to learn. Use their name often and pet/ brush them a lot to acclimate them to being touched. Respect their space when they are eating or sleeping and don’t grab at their tails or their back ends suddenly. Make sure you aren’t wearing super heavy perfumes or grooming products that are too strong for sensitive noses. Dogs love to play but don’t force them to do activities if they’re not into it. Big rambunctious dogs might enjoy roughhousing with their owners but smaller or more timid dogs want quieter play. To be loved by a dog is a great privilege, and the trust bond Is the most important aspect of a relationship with man’s best friend.
I still don't know why dogs like to bury their face in my crotch. Are they threatening me to bite my private? I had several dogs that does this all the time.
I was so worried… But this video made me want to cry, my dog wants to cuddle me all the time before, during or after eating. My dog isn’t afraid to make eye contact. He is a rescue, and from the moment I brought him home, he trusted me. He learned all of his tricks within one day a couple weeks after I got him. And he will do his tricks with a treat or without a treat, he just loves being a good boy .. he is my baby King ♥️
Typical husky. This list is not accurate to huskies. Huskies are their own species. He's not ignoring you, he's choosing not to listen because its the best way to irritate you.
Hahaha yup. Mine do that too. Both Kratos and Nala will hear you, look at you, their ears move and then they just keep doing what they want. Put a piece of cheese in you hand or a treat, they'll do whatever you want. Still love them to death
My little Yorkie is so independent. Whenever my mom or I would come home, he would look at us then go back to sleep lol. However, he HAS to go to bed or overall be near us when we're home. It'll either be the next room over where he can see us or on the other side of the couch. He's a dog that likes his space but also always wants to be near us.
This is true. Some stories about Caucasian shepherds are hilarious. One person recalled how their Caucasian shepherd was dognapped, probably by someone looking for a home pet. Three days later, they found their dog "unceremoniously" dumped in their front lawn. This breed is very independent.
I wish my abused, neglected, abandoned, and subsiquently rescued Pit, Cookie, was more independent. Cookie is seemingly surgically attached to my wife Kathie and I. Ya, "vicious" Pit Bull. LOLOL!
We had the honor of a loving bond with our furbaby Rylie for 15.5 years. The love was constantly there. It’s been almost a year and I miss her more then anything in this world. 🐶❤️
Sounds like you gave that puppa doo all the love you could, and that's all any dog could ask for. There are so many that would love to be shown this kind of affection and love. The ones we lose will alway have a piece of our hearts and our love for them will never be replaced, but please, please, please, if you haven't already, consider blessing your life with another poppa doo. Lord knows you will be blessing their lives. I'm sure your last pouch would be happy to see you saving another one if his kind. If you do, you gotta tell your new puppa doo all about your beloved last one....that helps a lot. I cry my eyes out like a little kid every time I lose one, and I've had many. But that's ok, they were worth every tear. It generally takes a few months, and i say I will never get another one, but I am glad I did. I know I can't save them all, but I can absolutely give a couple a great life, filled with all the love a dog could ever ask for.
My wife and I have had several dogs and cats over our life together. Getting them as a pup pretty much guarantees they will love and trust you (assuming you’re a responsible pet owner). But one of my greatest “victories” as a dog owner was with an old Chocolate Lab “rescue”, we adopted a few years back. The Humane Society “guesstimated” his age at 9 years old. He’d obviously had a rough life. There were pieces missing out of his ears, where they’d obviously been cut, and scars on his muzzle, where he’d been sliced with a knife. They’d had to pull all but 8 or 9 of his teeth, because they were so rotten. He’d put on some weight since being brought into the Humane Society, but was still quite thin. He was understandably scared when we brought him home. We were very gentle with him, and fortunately he clicked right away with our other dog, a 10 year old Black Lab. But if you reached out to pet him when he wasn’t expecting it, he’d recoil in fear. We learned to never come up behind him, then reach down to pet him. Always from the front, so he knew to expect it. He rarely wagged his tail, and walked around the house as if he was just anticipating the next beating. The only time he acted like he was content was when he was in our yard, with our other dog. When we’d come home from work, or doing our running around, our old Black Lab would always run to the door to greet us. But we had to approach the old Chocolate, to say “Hi”. He never greeted us at the door. But over time, he seemed to realize he was safe, and more importantly, loved. Then one day, after we’d had him about 6-7 months, I came home from work. He saw me before our other dog, perked up, and came trotting to the front door, tail wagging furiously, to greet me. It was perhaps the best greeting I’ve ever received from one of our pets, because I realized at that point all of our care and patience with him had paid off. We had another loving canine companion, and he knew he had a safe, loving family. Sadly, we didn’t have him quite two full years, when he passed on. I’m not ashamed to say it broke our hearts, and we both cried like a little girls. But we took some solace in knowing that this sweet old guy at least “crossed the bridge” knowing the love and security of a good home. One of my favourite pictures of him, sucking up for attention, is still the lockscreen photo on my iPhone. I miss him to this day.
this is such a beautiful story. i’ve always wanted to do this once i’m financially stable, i can’t imagine how amazing it must have felt when he reciprocated the love you had for him. thank you for giving him a good home, you and your wife sound like absolutely amazing people :)
@@cass7559 - He was one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever had. We just wish he was still with us. But if you do get to “live the dream”, please consider adopting a senior. Puppies always find a home. The older ones are the ones that really need someone to care.
Thank you for showing him peace and real family that he otherwise may not have known ❤️ very blessed to have spent his remaining time with you in a real home 🌈
You’ve got me crying at 3am. On a more serious note this is a very heart warming story and I’m thankful for people like you in the world. You make it a better place.
I’ve had a 15 year old shepherd for 2 years whose family had to give him up. He tolerates me but he’s still being loyal to his “real” family and keeps his distance. I don’t blame him. He’s a gentleman and waiting for them to come for him.
Aww poor thing. Whatever it happens i will never let my dogs behind. Is me and my dogs till the end. Sadly my 3 doggies passed already and i’m so broken and forever will be.
2 years and he only tolerates you? Dogs should bond very quickly with the person who cares for them. The behaviour of waiting for previous owners to return is not "gentlemanly" or cute, as most commenters seem to think. It suggests that this dog is not having it's physical and/or emotional needs met. Something is seriously wrong there.
Oh that’s both so sad yet so kind of you to accept him anyway. I’ve always wanted a dog but was never allowed one as a kid and as an adult I live alone with my cat. I understand enough to understand dogs are social pack animals and condemning one to hours alone locked in a small flat is cruel. I’m not cruel, so while my heart aches every time I see a dog lovingly look at its owner I know it’s not for me. Fortunately I have my cat and we adore each other.
My dog is constantly staring at me. Not sure of his intentions but I always ask him: Wilbur, how come every time I look at you, you’re looking at me? He usually follows up with an incessant whine bc he’s a GSD and that’s what he’s good at. 🙄
For those worried: don't worry too much. If you are kind to your dog, don't overreact to things, help, care for, teach, and play with it well, it's going to love you. Love covered in fur is pretty much what dogs are.
I like your comment except for just one teeny weensy little thing you said and it was not even bad lol but that one word bugs me when ppl are referring to animals and that is when ppl use the word "it" when talking about an animal like that kinda just makes me feel some kind of way because animals are living, breathing, beings that have feelings and a whole life, they are not an "it" like an inanimate object like say for example a table would be a thing to refer to as an "it" lol like thats all I wanted to say because I always let that slide but not today lol
I feel like people read SO MUCH into things like this. My dogs love me, they don't act afraid of me. They're just puppies lol like my chihuahua wants to play MORE after eating, and she's 4 months old so she has a LOT of energy. Settling down doesn't exist for her lol
As for baring teeth, many dogs have astonishingly tried to mimic our smiles, baring their teeth when wanting to join in with our smiling good moods. That's remarkable because for them bared teeth are just the opposite; not only do they figure out that our bared teeth are the opposite of aggression but that they can change themselves to join with us. Incredible! Dogs are very special.
My dog smiles! It is the funniest thing! I can say smile at me and she does it! She looks so goofy! Cracks me up every time! When I adopted her they had written it on her paper work so who ever got her would not think she was barring her teeth!
@@lordfarquaadofficialaccoun8123 Consider how our smiles might terrify any dog. That they are keen enough to figure out how different we are and to even try to imitate it is truly astonishing to me. The least we can do is return the favor.
I got a dog from a girl who left an abusive relationship. Apparently he did the same to this 15 pound dog. She said he yelled at, kicked, and threw the dog many times. I've had her for three years and she still leaves the room when any male enters, other than my wheelchair bound son. She sometimes pees a little when I pet her and if I pick her up she will pee alot. If I sit on the couch and my wife is in the room, the dog will get on my lap and want me to pet her. She also brings me toys to play alot, but again, only if my wife is there too. She seems like she will never forget that asshole and never fully trust a male human again. But, I know she loves me. She goes crazy when I get home and greets me at my car wagging her tail furiously. She also comes to me when something scares her like fireworks, not to my wife.
Aww. I am glad to hear the dog is in a safe place now. She may continue to improve in her confidence, and she may not, I'm not sure. If you and your wife give her good boundaries, act loving towards her, and try to stay in the present, then who knows? :-) Thank you for taking her in. ❤️
I used to have a dog that beared her teeth at me, but not growl. She did this to anyone who approached her but she was very friendly and loving. I finally figured out she was just smiling.
My grandad had a lab who did that. Any time someone came into the house, she'd walk up and give them a big grin. Every other part of her body language was unambiguously friendly, but people who didn't know her found her a bit scary.
My dog is a rescue and was abused by former owners. But seeing her make progress and come out of her shell a little more, each and every day has been so wonderful to watch. I believe everything happens for a reason, and my girl brings so much happiness and motivation to my life.
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now.
Watching this after I let my dog outside in his Christmas sweater, feeding and giving him water, and now he’s curled up at the bottom of my bed sleep. I think we have a pretty good relationship
I just adopted a new dog a week and a half ago and she does the exact polar opposite of all of those things with me. The first night she slept on my bed but had a little space between us by night 2 she was next to me but not touching. Night 3 she was cuddling right up to me. I am so happy she decided I was cool enough to be her human😊
i didnt even get to take my home yet when she snuggled into my lap and took a really nice long nap inside my jacket, 8 years in still going strong even tho my parents kinda hijacked her from me (now that i did all the hard and dirty work to get her to behave like this, they suddendly went from no dogs allowed in the house at all, not even in garage and cellar to having a dog in between them in the living room with its own sofa watching Hudson and Rex). They have this magic ability to turn even the coldest of hearts in a soft warm cozy mush, i love it, When i was to get a pupy they oposed me again, we love the old dog so much, we dont want another one they said, so i bring home this lab/rottie pup, all black with a single white spot on her back left paw, so she was named Paw, so i bring her home but i know how pups are if they are not house broken, she was not, so i left her in the cellar bathroom, i made her a cosy bed in the shower, left food and water, some toys and went to sleep. she cried for an hour then i fell asleep. I come back down after a good 5 hour sleep, who do i find there? My father, the guy that was the most against getting a new dog, asleep in Paw's bed with Paw in his lap.
I was bitten by 4 dogs 4 different times in 2013 while I was in Europe and since have not wanted anything to do with dogs. My mother got a golden retriever puppy who was about 10 months when she got him. He immediately ran towards me when the door was open for the first time for him and I reacted in a sort of PTSD like manner and pushed it away. After that, the dog was sort of depressed and I guess feared me. One night, I was sleeping and it came into my room while I was asleep. For some reason I will not ever know, It got in my bed and sat down next to me and lifted my hand on its head. I remember waking up and seeing my hand slightly lifted upwards and saw him. I didn't react with fear and I was calm. I don't know why he got in my bed that night, but I'm glad he did. Glad he did.
It feels great to know I have a positive relationship with my pack. I feel other members of my household need to see this so the can understand there is an issue. They get really frustrated a d think the dog is the problem. It's not; it's really them...
It took my beautiful Shiba Inu 6 months to get used to me and my home. He was previously bullied by kids and bigger dogs. But thankfully I got him from their home. After 6 months he finally stopped shaking and started going into other rooms of my home. He no longer just sat in his dog cage. And he also started barking when a random person knocked on my door. He also started to recognize the sound of my car versus other cars. He’d welcome me home from work everyday by waiting at the door wagging his tail. I’m so glad I found him and I’m so glad he’s away from his previous rowdy home
@@jpeg.600x2 even having your dog by your side while you’re cooking or watching TV is a good way to bond. Overtime your dog will get used to it and be by your side every day if it isn’t already. My dog has a bed on a chair next to me so while I rest or watch movies he’s there to rest with me.
Shiba Inu really dont like kids from what i know, bullied by other dogs how? So i have a lab rottie, well i have two, but the one in particular, the older one, was bullied by her siblings when they were still with their mom so the mom got pissed and threw the bullying siblings to the side so mine could get a titty. The other one i have, the younger one, never took shit from her siblings and that was precisely why i instantly took a liking to her, the biggest of the litter tried to bully her away from the tit, she fought him and won and then proeeded to lay on him while she was feeding and he could not. That was the first thing i saw from her and right then i knew,, she is perfect. She grew up quite nice i gotta say but there is a problem i find, i think i might be the owner of a transspecies dog. She has so many cat behaviours its crazy, she loves to climb on shit and jump around, she hunts like cats do, in playing ofc, she makes the pose head low butt high tail wagging and thinks she is hidden and then pounces like a cat, she has a way of clawing at you like a cat would and uses her paws waaaay more than i ever seen any other dog do, she has extremely good balance, loves heights and high jumps and if she was not so chonky i can see her climbing trees as well, now she just jumps from branch to branch and for her to climb she'd have to be on a really strict diet with a completely unhealthy low weight so i will not do that but i can see her do it if she could, hell i bet you if you take her parachuting she'd love it...
Wow he must have had a very rough time. I've had abuse dogs all my life (most of them just rough kids not monitored by irresponsible adults, just a few actually HIT by owners) and never had them go past 6 weeks to get more comfortable. Poor little fella. Although they have all been very quick to bark at outside sounds and hugely distrustful of new humans for the rest of their lives.
@@jpeg.600x2 teaching them really helps. My new pup I’ve had for a week he learnt to sit, lay and stay and loves doing it with me for treats, follows me everywhere and I include him in whatever I’m doing😊 He sleeps with me and whines to wake me up to pee because as soon as he wakes up I take him out. And talk to them a lot Name everything and teach them , slowly form a word list of commands and objects. All these things are interactions between you and your pal Just love him and he’ll love you back❤
Had my Maltipoo since he was a puppy and he'll be 12 soon. He's a very affectionate dog to the whole household but he picks me all these years over everyone. Always has. I'm a trucker and don't get to see him much till recently started taking him with me. Despite over the years of not seeing each other but a few days a month his bond with me has remained stronger than with the rest of the family. When he gets scared, sick, hurt, or anything I'm the one he goes to every single time. It's an honor to be your dogs favorite human.
I’m absolutely fascinated how dogs learned English and were able to tell their owners this information and now great minded people went out of their way created this video and delivered us this information. You guys are amazing. Keep it up. Emoji thumbs up
My Dog passed away last February 17 due to Pulmonary Edema, and watching this video made me realize that, in that last days of my dog, she was still happy to see me every time I would go to her, even if she was so sick that her back was already curving due to the heaviness of her water filled lungs... I love her so much and I know she's happy in Heaven because I saw her in my dreams playing with other dogs in a garden the day she passed away
I think you have to put a big fat asterisk on this. My dog used to be super lovey and affection with me, but she's 16 now and doesn't have the energy to keep her tail wagging or follow me around. She's outlived her life expectancy already as a big dog, so the fact that she still acknowledges my existence through her old age blindness and hearing loss is a huge sign that she loves me.
The exception (and you know perfectly why) doesn't defeat the rule. Stop taking advice too personally if doesn't apply no you. No asterisk needed, just your understanding why you're a special case, which you do.
One of my dogs stopped obeying me, this was surprising because she always been very well behaved, this change was slow but at some point I realized she couldn't hear anymore I remember I started moving my hands to attrack her attention, and then I made all kind of weird movements trying to convey my intentions, it actually worked and we developed some hand signals we both understood It was my sister which one day told me I was doing the same with my other dog, and with the rest of my family, they were wondering if I had some kind of problem myself 🤣
i started doing this when my doggy grew old too :’) she was a smart lil cookie so she got the memo and learned to understand it so quickly! reenforcing training with treats also works wonders for food-driven dogs x
I have always taught my dogs sign language, as well as spoken commands, in the event of hearing loss. Has never happened and most of my dogs have lived very long lives (last two were 18 years old when they left me) both rescues. My current buddy is 13 soon and I hope we have many more years together.
My dog is pretty happy and all but she is a bit too much happy and ima say the things she shouldn't do 1. She 💩 under the table btw shes a new dog 2. She IS ALMOST LIKE A RABBIT BRO WE HAVE TO MAKE THE WALLS TO THE BED AND STAIRS HIGHER CUZ SHE JUMPS HIGHHH LIKE WAhTtTT 3. her teeth hurt wuen she bites u know those like lil teeth she has them AND SHE BITES PEOPLES FEET WHEN SHE HAS ALOT OF ENERGY 4. She is noisy when im trying to sleep this is why i sleep at 1 am sometimes :/ 5. Shes a lil bit more smart than i Thought and thats it i think btw her breed is a dashound hotdog i think-
I knew a Rottweiler who would growl and snarl when he wanted to be pet. The moment you put your hand on him he’s wag his whole lower half and his tongue would lull out
The tail wagging is a big one! My dogs have never been big tail waggers (even my current puppy isn't one but she always has it up and such) but one of them does still wag hers when I say her name. She doesn't wag it much more often due to an injury that healed wrong before I adopted her. She almost never leaves my side and if she likes you (which is rare) and you make eye contact, she will follow. The other two- they think they're huskies and can be outside in snow for hours
As I was watching this, my little dog came over and laid her head and paws on my lap 🥰 I’m pretty confident that she loves me and I love her to the moon and back!
i have a rottie lab mix 18months old, when she wants my attention she has a funny bark she makes, if i ignore the funny bark she comes and puts her head on my knee and just stands like that because she knows eventually i will not be able to resist and will start to pet her and if i pet her just once she then half climbs in my lap so she is with her stomach on my legs but her behind legs still touch the ground and starts to make this silly high pitched growl and if i bounce her with my legs she raises and raises the pitch of the growls, it's so funny and adorable
One of my mom's dogs has bad anxiety (has ever since we got her) so she often avoids eye contact, pulls her ears back, tucks her tail, and does the nervous wag, but she still trusts us enough to side-sleep near us or let us (mostly Mom) pick her up like a baby. She's also a huge cuddler -- if you try moving away from her while she's cuddling, she will scoot back in and close the distance. That said, she's very wary of outsiders, so the fact that she can relax around us at least _some_ of the time is good enough for me.
I think the fact she has anxiety and yet she's still happy to cuddle and sleep near you speaks volumes. I'd say that's a good show of trust, even if she's not always comfortable!
2y ago we adopt a dog , she is around 8yo atm. She and her brother was living alone in a remote area and volunteers was feeding em 3-4 times per week. Unfortunately they got attack from another pact of dogs her brother found died and they found her in good condition hidden in thorn bushes. Long story sort we got her and for many months we force her to eat (homemade food cause she could stay without dog food for 2-3 days) and we bring her water to drink in her bed. She didnt want to walk out the house amd she wanted to stay alone in another room. Atm she's eating dog food with small amount of ur food (brit for her liver) or a boiled egg or cheese if the food we have its not good for her , she's even going for walks but she refuse to be more than 30m away of ur home and she's only sleeps in the same room with us but not in the bed with us, she will stay to bed for 5-10min with us for petting and she will jump to her bed. But still 2y pass and she is very afraid of every human she sees and she doesn't play with toys. The medication u said for anxiety sounds interesting , have u something in mind so i can talk it out with m vet ? Cause the 2 vets we visit don't have mention something about it. Also she is getting medication for her liver and hypothyroidism.
Little tip: keep small trears on you and give it to your dog if they come to you without calling. Don't always give a treat though, sometimes just pet them. They will most likely like you more if you do
So good to know that my dog does, in fact, hate me 😂 I rescued him at 2.5 years old in 2015 and he never fully warmed up to me. He did to some extent, but he’s a super anxious dog and he finds any kind of closeness unnerving. He comes to me and lays down next to me but if I try to pet him or interact with him, or make eye contact, he immediately turns the other way or leaves altogether. I don’t know if he’ll ever fully trust me. It breaks my heart
Was he stray before being rescued? I don’t think it’s you he hates, but I think past experience with other humans have made him reluctant to trust people anymore. Just continue giving him all the love and care you can and eventually he’ll come around. Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?
I’ve had my one dog from 3 days old. He has never been a cuddler and he doesn’t love to be petted. But he loves me. So most of the time I just talk to him.
Take it to the vet. Seriously. Im talking from experience, so please, I know it could be expensive...or try a charity vet. Your dog could very well be uncomfortable from an injury or somesuch. Honest.👍
It takes time for a dog to warm up. For me, it took 3 years for one of my dogs to love me back like the way I loved her. She went from being distant to super needy all of a sudden. Just keep on being nice and kind to the dog, they will understand and come around.
honestly it’s one of the harder parts of adopting a dog who came from a pretty terrible environment because it’s taken my dog almost 7 months to finally get settled and feel comfortable and I’m hoping with time our bond grows
I just got my baby a week ago and she doesn’t avoid me but I can tell she’s a little afraid. She falls asleep on me and next to me sometimes but follows and looks for my daughter. My husband is constantly telling me to be patient and that she’ll come around. It is disheartening to know that she was probably abused by adults where she was but I’m here for her when she’s ready.
My dog used to show basically every sign that says he loves me. Then, he became sick, diagnosed with diabetes, and now he's blind. He's my goofball that runs into walls, and I adore him. I think he still loves me even though he doesn't like being touched or around people much anymore
He is officially an Elder Beast. When dogs get old and start feeling badly, they do that, but they still love you. Frankly, really elderly people are similar. They sleep, eat, nap, love you but growing old ain't for sissies, as Bette Davis said. The Elder Beast gets to do what he wants:)
I got mine back after finding out Mother dearest was given him shots 3 hours after feeding and father dearest who demanded they have him back before he went diabetic/blind/deaf was hitting the blind deaf dog for walking into things he left on floor!? They Messed him up so bad, ultra tied, ultra ultra disconnected 💔, blind, deaf. 2 days before I was to go back home he started having massive seizures, woke to my mother yelling, I spent night on kitchen floor with him seizures just went on for hours. Somehow at 15 he made it through the 1,000+mile road trip to my place. I cooked for him, chicken rice and veggies, including adding things like Cinnamon which is known to help regulate blood sugar, gave him insulin at right time & cut back on insulin. He was a hoot his last months, daily walks very slow but he was ready even at 5 am!, usually did 2 walks a day, always finding new spot to get stuck in house & yard he became very adventurous, following me ♥️💜 best was when he'd come lay under piano bench as I played. He was such a trooper! 15 years old & moved over 1,000 miles to a house he'd never been in. Every morning his tail was wagging♥️💜 once he was with me. At parents he didn't move, no happy tail, no greetings, he only would be in kitchen or living room. A lot of work but he died naturally in my arms as we sat outside on a beautiful day. His last full day they did nice long walk. Got back he had another seizure, which I had gotten them stopped for few months but 2 days before death they came back. Last full day was the first time he didn't want to eat or drink after the one seizure. Up till that point he'd have seizure and bounce right back eating, wagging his tail, wanted to go on walk. Even on slow days he was ready for a walk! And if we'd pick him up, he'd just start hollowing away until he was put down 😅 I knew being diabetic he'd be gone within 24 hours & he was. He wanted to gave have doctor come to house, I was like no we've come this far I will be with him till death arrives, it will be soon. Something healing when you wait on death and don't demand it. So glad I didn't crave to bullies telling me to kill him. It's like I told you he's end life ! I'm the one who is responsible for him 99% of time ! We've come this far, you can quit, I'm not. FYI if it gets to the Point of diapers, baby diapers from dollar store worked way better for fraction of cost than dog diapers. He needed help with stairs and I couldn't always, so diapers made clean up so much better. He actually loved warm Epson salt bathes at the end, few times he actually fell asleep as he'd rest on one of our arms as we held him in tub. He lived to 15. Had us laughing till the end. Buried him in his favor spot in yard, planted some bleeding hearts, Echinacea and purple flowers💜♥️at his rest spot God bless you Hope you have the support and courage to continue on road of compassion and companionship
Got a puppy and would "play fight" with my right arm. She's a few years old and actively informs me when she wants to play fight. Being that she is bigger and stronger she can get her jaws around my arm but it's interesting how she handles certain situations. For instance, if I am not wearing anything long sleeved, she will hesitate to actually "bite" or play for that matter until I make it known that it's OK. She also will ignore my left hand and arm and choose to go after the right. She is also extremely alert during the sessions and if I say "ow" at any point she will immediately stop and start licking my face or arm. If she draws blood on any level (practically never) she notices before I do and stops to lick the wound till I realize it. I usually pull my arm away and grab some scruff on her back, slap her butt, or hold one of her paws. I try to match her intensity of play. When she deems something I did or am doing is a bit too much for her physically, she will trot off, grab a toy, and bring that to me for us to play with the toy instead. Also, because I assume someone reading this will assume I am teaching her, it's OK to bite people. That doesn't happen. Even had my sister try to get her interested in play fighting the way I do, and the dog is just confused, lol. She knows the playfighting is just a me and her thing.
Dogs don't always play the same games with everyone. My sister's yorky/Maltese played this game with me she never played with anyone else, not even my sister. If I started I would say something like " what ? " or " huh " or " hey ". If she initiated it she would make a low growl or bark. Once we had each other's attention we would turn our heads away from each other a little bit while giving each other the side eye. We would take turns grunting, each little grunt we would lean closer and closer until we were close, then we would touch our heads together and gently rub our heads together. I don't know why or how we started that game but it always made me laugh. She didn't play that game with anyone else.
Sometimes it just depends on dog’s mental state and mental health as well as their individual personality. I bought a puppy -The Russian Toy terrier, she seemed timid and always scared. She was hiding in the corner and would shake as I approached her or tried to pet her, this was from first days since I brought her home. This behavior kept happening. At first I thought she just doesn’t like me. Although my other dog adores me and he’s friendly and loving with her as well. Then I did some research online “what to do if your dog doesn’t trust you”? I found out that you can create a situation when you show your dog that you can protect him. I just started showing her that I can shield her from any trouble. If the other dog would bother her, I would block the access to her with my hands, whenever she felt scared I would pick her up and show her that she was safe with me. I tried to give her special treatment but without smothering either. It worked! Now we’re best friends and she never ever leaves my side! She follows me around the house and sleeps on my bed next to me tightly pressing her back towards me! I adore this dog! So happy she’s in my life! True love can heal all!💖 just love your dogs!
If she went from being stand-offish to sleeping tight against you, you did an excellent job of showing her how awesome of a pack leader you are. Dogs sleeping with their back tight against you is one of the ultimate signs of trust.
I've been aware for a long time my rescue dog couldn't care less about me. She depends on me for meals, grooming, leisurely strolls, the usual, but she never wags her tail or gets excited when I come home. She's always been an independent operator regardless of what my other pets may be doing. She has developed separation anxiety and barks if I'm gone too long, but she's over 20 years old. I'll just continue... This is an update. Sweeti Pi had a stroke on Sunday, Oct 16th 2022 and died Wed Oct 19th. (22 yrs +/- a month or so.) I sure miss that little girl, but I think she's gone on to Doggy Heaven. She sure deserves it. We were together since Mar 3, 2005.
If she’s over 20 that mf probably can’t wag there tail 😭 I don’t think it’s anything personal though probably just an old dog wanting to do old dog things
Remember, dogs are mirrors. If you are freaking out around the dog, they will freak out too. If you are getting anxious because you think the dog does not like you, then the dog will get anxious too. I have found the best way to get acquainted with a dog is to calmly go about your business and let the dog come to you. They will.
My dog is a rescue and tries to smother me whenever I’m anxious. When I’m clearly stressed she will sit on my foot/hand/leg. And won’t leave until I’ve calmed down. I’d love to know if there’s a way to train dogs to be like this because I feel like she’s kept me alive at points during lockdown.
As I watch this I am in tears🥺😥 We lost our sweet lil babygirl Misty in January 2021😢😢 the moment the vet said her lil heart just stopped beating, was the moment mine did as well🥺😥😢 I miss her every single day and I just wish it were possible to go back in time to the very first day she ever came to live with us in her furrever home, I just want to hug her and kiss her sweet lil nose in between her beautiful little brown eyes again🥺😥😢😭 I never thought my heart could feel so broken as it does having to wake up and get thru everyday knowing that I wont get to cuddle her or chase her around the house anymore😢😢😢 everyday without her just feels so empty like all of the happiness in the house was just completely drained when she went to Heaven and things will never be the same again in the house ever ever again😭😭😭😭 R.I.P. my sweet lil Misty❤💗💖💓💞 I will forever love You and You will never ever ever be forgotten my beautiful sweet lil Angel❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, it’s 1:43 PM March May 3rd. 2024 my little buddy Rocketman disappeared May 1 at about 2 PM. I was not home when I did get home. There was no welcome at the door. I knew something was wrong. Someone tried to get in my house through the slider or He just kept working and opened it. He got out on the deck and got down the stairs. Somebody heard him barking. He was barking at the lizards, but that was the last time anyone seen or heard from him and we have looked everywhere. It’s a close knit community. everyone is out looking for him. I live near a canal. They went in the boat through the canal, looking for him, which is really the unimaginable, but it’s still unimaginable and devastating. He’s not home. I don’t know where he is. I don’t know what to do. I feel like my insides are getting torn apart, I need him home. I love him so much. He’s my best buddy. He’s four years old and he’s not a runaway. I pray and I pray that he comes home. I am lost. I can’t even explain how I really feel is the worst feeling I’ve ever had I’m not gonna give up, but it doesn’t look good at this point he wouldn’t run away he’ll go out but he comes home. He hasn’t come home this time and I thought he was locked up in the house. I had to go to the doctors. I always take him everywhere with me, but you can’t take them into the doctors office. I am besides myself so I understand you, and I feel for you
Me who does not have a dog watching this while remembering my dog, who passed away 5 years ago 😢 She loved me and tried to clean my tears with her paws. I still remember that moment 🥺
I love that my dog brings me endless toys. She just lays them all around me. Sometimes I will work on a project from bed and when I shut my laptop, I literally have 10 toys placed all around me. 😂 She doesn't even want to play most times. She is just bringing me gifts. 😍
Whenever I'm in the kitchen, you bet my labrador will be there. Well, she won't enter the kitchen unless I say so, but she sits or lay down just beyond the door frame because of the risk of being pushed around if she's by my feet when I'm doing something. If she hears a ball bouncing, she'll be there in a heartbeat. I'll throw the ball, she'll fetch it, but I'm not allowed to take it from her unless I literally dig it out of her mouth and say "Loss", which means "Release". She usually puts the toys by my feet or in my lap when she wants me to throw it again. When my sister died last year, I got the news when I was at work and when I got home Icrashed on the couch and cried and slept for at least a couple of hours. My faithful Labradog understood something was up the moment I stepped in the door and refused to leave my side. Since I had cut my workday short, she woke me at the time I usually take her on a walk by gently bumping her nose on my face. I also guessed she wanted me to fill her bowl as well because that was empty. She has free access to food and the bowl is quite big so I usually just have to refill it once it's nearly empty, which usually takes her 2 to 3 days. But what little effort I put into my dogs wellbeing, I somehow get back tenfold.
awwwwwwwwwe🥺😭 how do y’all train y’all dogs to play with toys? my dogs will never play with toys but i think that’s because they are pomeranians and boujee
@@miyori8128 Boujeee. 🤣 That made me chuckle. I think it depends on the dog, to be honest. Our old beagle LOVED toys. Our new beagle could care less. Or ... he will just eat them whole, so yeah, we really watch him now if he picks up a toy because he seems to see them as snacks. LOL - Our Feist is super playful. She brought a ball back to me at 8 weeks old. I swear I have not stopped throwing that ball for the past 8 years. She loves her squeaky toys too.
My dog always climbs up and lays on me after we have dinner. Now I know why she does that lol. She's been by my side 99.99% of the time since she was 4 weeks old when I saved her from -30C neglect. Currently I'm training her to ride on the kayak with me and it's going really well. Bacon is a strong motivator haha
I learned from this video that my first dog that lived to be 18 and a half. He didn't like me for a lot of the time probably the first 10 years. We were rowdy and picked on him when we were little but then grew to love him and connect with him. And my second dog that lived to be 12 and a half. She loved us from one week of being with us until the day she died ❤️
@Alexander Howarth the story tought that him, that looking back. His dog didn't like him when he was young(most unguided kids are not good with dogs). But he learned fron his mistakes and bonded with the dog when he became more mature, and when the dog was in his golden years. The. When he got his second dog, he knew exactly how to love it
My puppy is 15 weeks old, he runs and jumps on me after every meal, wants to sleep on me at night and he has already learned to sit, stay, lie down and hi five. This video has just made me realise how much of a best friend I now have.
Hahah! I'm lying in bed with my dog lying on the bed next to me, my left elbow leaning on her back,.like a warm and furry cushion {Whippet} .She's currently 7 months old.
I'm jealous 😂 My puppy is very food motivated (to the point I have to feed her in a closed room so she won't steal the other dogs. One prefers to eat alone and the other eats where he feels like out of the three) but she refuses to learn to listen or understand to read when it's down time (probably because she's crate trained). Making slow progress though. She's got a lot of high energy so I leave her crate open to go in when she's tired
Got two dogs, one 14 year old that has multiple allergies, heart conditions and skin conditions, is almost fully deaf and blind as well. Barely has any fur left and is struggling a lot (he has medication and is better than he used to be but we are keeping a close eye on him) and we have learnt that touching him or him wagging his tail hurts him... so how he shows his love - he goings to the spaced out dog bed I've made for him next to my bed and lays there, only leaving when I do. He's a good boy and I love him dearly. We are sure this is his last year with us. I will be forever grateful for my baby boy
Most of this is pretty good advice... only a couple things with which I take issue: FULL DISCLOSURE: I was a vet tech for 6 years, was a dog trainer and behaviorist before that with a focus on positive, not negative, reinforcement. With that said, the things with which I take issue: #13 - Not accurate. #11 - Also not accurate. If you have a split company (roommates, children, etc.), just because they don't sleep with YOU doesn't mean they don't love you. It means they feel the other person they do regularly sleep with either needs more protection or will protect them more (depending on the dog's dominance/submission). Also, I had a dog that would not sleep with ME, per se, but would sleep outside my door (whether it was open or not), keeping watch. #10 - Also not accurate. Some dogs are just less inclined to obey... just like people. Honestly, this is usually more an issue with the pet parent than the pet, themselves (though this was kinda touched on which I appreciate). #9 - This has always been a ridiculous claim. There are many reasons for this. #6 - Overall, this is true. However... could just be the treats. #5 - Semi accurate. I can see what they're saying with this, overall. #3 - The dog COULD be in pain or discomfort. Ummm... Where is #1?
I think negative reinforcement would be hard to do with dogs. Something you could take away that would be reinforcing would be pain medicine to take away pain. That's pretty much the only negative reinforcement I can think of. I definitely advocate positive reinforcement and negative punishment, and I try to teach people the consequences of using positive punishment like physical force because laying your hand on a dog really isn't necessary when you have other options to teach or extinguish a behavior.
#12 - a dog not giving you eye contact can often mean their just distracted, especially if they are young. #3 - The dog could also have been a victim of abuse. Gaining the trust of a dog who's been abused is difficult and sometimes impossible. Don't force contact with such a dog. Let them come to you.
What do you mean? Negative reinforcement has lots of examples - releasing leash pressure, releasing an ear pinch, just generally removing painful or umcomfortable stimuli to get compliance. And negative punishment can actually go hand in hand with negative reinforcement - if your dog pulls and you change direction or stop to impede forward progress, removing the impediment to continue becomes negative reinforcement.. if you remove yourself from a dog who is jumping, removing the lack of attention or barrier becomes negative reinforcement.. I try to be mindful of this as it can also cross into positive punishment, which i try to avoid
Phew! Looks like my goofball really loves me! Knew it all along but it’s nice to have it confirmed! It’s completely mutual, of course, even when he thinks he’s a lapdog (all 33 kgs of him) on humid summer days!
Yeah that is good sign that means he would protect you at all cost I love that , anyways how are you doing today I hope this comment gets to you in good health ?
I'd never noticed that any of the dogs I've had never actually snuggled up after feeding them. They've all been used to heading straight to their sleeping place after their meal. My understanding is that it's their digestion time. Other than that, I very much agree, mine never cold shoulder me. My current Foxie belongs to my gf, he sees me as his feeder and walker. He used to not cosy up to me but now even greets me with his whining and tail wagging when I arrive from work.
My border collie is a semi working dog. He guards my goats from predators, so he is outdoors many nights. He is a very good worker - he eats his food and usually wants to go back outside almost immediately. But then, he might just need to potty at that time?!
I understand. I have a rescued 70lbs Pit. Her name is Cookie. She is currently cuddled up with my wife Kathie. Kathie and I joke all the time about our "vicious" PIT BULL!! LOLOL!!
I think if you love your dog ( you value him, take his care, keep him comfortable) then there is no chance of your dog not loving you! They know if you love them and if you do, then for sure they do too, because they just have YOU for them
@@nuckygulliver9607 love. I've seen dogs fall in love with toys, pillows, and just about anything. Dogs are just like that...full of love and give it freely.
Don't know why but when I am around different friends with dogs I don't know that well they will all come and lay around me. Several friends have pointed this out to me. Maybe they can tell just how much I love dogs.
My Australian Shepard dog is absolutely my best friend as I walk in the door and she buries herself in between my legs and wraps her body around one of my legs. She gives the best hugs.
The worst thing is seeing that my dog loves my husband ALOT, and doesn’t think much of me. I get really hurt at this. People don’t even treat me as if I matter. And when you think your own dog is supposed to love you and doesn’t when the world abandons you too , that really hurts. My own dog doesn’t even love me.😢
awwww I understand this. Have you thought about getting another dog that you feel a better connection with? My dog is crazy over my ex, drove me nuts, I got so jealous because he would whine and want out if my ex walked outside etc as I was the 'mommy' who raised him by myself. Ugh! But then I realized my dog acted allllmost the same with my sister and other friends, even choosing to sleep with them on overnights and not with me. Haha he would sleep with them and maybe come be with me in the middle of the night, then back to them, or come sleep with me for the rest of the night and THEN go over to them when they would wake up, dunno, but guess mine's a diplomat. But not with my ex. I know if he was given a choice he'd ditch me in a heartbeat for him. ☹ It made me feel better when my sister was inside my house visiting and I went out to work on my property for a few hours and she said my boy was whining and watching me like a hawk from the big picture window. That def made me feel better. If I were you I'd get another pet, maybe even a kitten eheheheh if it's gonna be cats n dogs at your house why not make it fr 😄
I just adopted an American Bulldog 2 weeks ago from my local shelter. She was returned twice, but never again. She's such a sweetheart and angel. She's very self sufficient but will walk around wagging her tail looking for me around the house. She's very lazy haha, I thought maybe she didn't love me at first but I can tell she's so very grateful. She's stubborn though, it will take a few "let's go bed" when it's bed time but she sighs and gets up haha.
same i thought i was gonna regret clicking on this video.... but no and i dont know why i thought this video would make me regret my life choices and it gave me such a big relief...my dog follows me to and at 3 am when hes asleep next to my feet on my bed and im seeping he comes and licks my face and crys untill i give him kisses
Same with mine. Even if I have to go #2 or take a shower my dog will curl up on the bathroom rug and wait till I’m done. If I have to fix a leaky sink in the kitchen my dog will lay next to me. My dog will litterally wait right behind the front door during the entire time that I’m gone. 5min or 4 hours, he won’t leave.(I used a security camera to watch him so I know)...
Thank you! Ive checked none of the boxes for my rescueded stinkers! They all treat me like a rock star even if I cant give them all the love and attention they so much deserve as much as I want! But when we have our happy times; its a riot!
Depends on breed, depends on dog. We got our current dog as a puppy. She never liked pets until she was about 8 years old, now she can’t get enough. She growls when she wants to play. Her favourite game is keep-away so she never shares her toys. She leaves the room when anyone comes home, and then comes back excited and happy (and growling) when the last person comes home, doesn’t matter who. She’s an individual, for sure.
Yep. Our GSD mix was stubborn with commands but that dog protected me and stayed by my side (especially when I was having seizures). She was so happy when I got home from the hospital and would not leave me alone.
I got my Labrador from pup, literally my shadow. Stuck by my leg regardless of who else comes into the house. But at 2 years old he’s a little mischievous at times on walks. Recalls good but sometimes dosent listen. He shows affection when he wants it. I know he loves me and I’m dad but just had to check this out to see if he doesn’t love me as much as I love him haha! As long as your take care of them, show them love and respect they’ll always show love back.
My gsd follows me everywhere. She's clingy but I really don't mind. I'm retired and my wife still works so she's with me all day and my constant companion.
I adopted a cur mix, Tilly, about 5 weeks ago. Her personality is *nothing* like my prior lazy, TV-watching potato-like Boxer, or really any dog I've ever lived with. I think we were all unsure about each other for the first 3 weeks, and I thought about taking her back to Brother Wolf quite a bit. Tilly is a shredder, but as I've been learning how to provide her with appropriate outlets for her energy (which includes giving her appropriate items to shred), she is calmer around the house and I can once more hear myself think.
I adopted a Labrador/cur mix 4 months ago and it took about 4 weeks for us to really bond and ever since then he never wants to leave my side, as the bond gets stronger training them gets so much easier, they are very loyal and energetic dogs, I wish you and Tilly the best of luck
When I adopted my dog from the rescue, it took a year before she would sleep in my bed but she finally did. I knew it was a trust thing and I let her take her time. She ALWAYS meets me at the door with her toys! I think it is the cutest thing in the world!
I've had several dogs in my 43 years of life. One of them was a Chitzu we got around 5 or 6 years of age from an abusive home where the husband forced his wife to get rid of the dog and was actually jealous she was spending too much with him. They did keep his sister though. It took a long time to really get along with that dog, and he died on Columbus day in the middle of watching Donnie Darko for the first time.
The only time I ever felt sad over my dog's withdrawal was after a painful breakup of a 10-year relationship. I think she was more devastated about it than I was. Always had the feeling she wanted me to fix it, and was frustrated that I couldn't. She was never the same.
Just because they don't cuddle with you doesn't mean they don't love you To the the new pet owner don't doubt your dog over this video ( we got dog owners in the comments, hello fellas how you doing )
Especially a dog who has known a hard life beforehand.. We had a devoted lurcher who had a start in life like this, she never was ''Cuddly'' but loved to lie close.
Well said. I adopted a Terrier mix about a month ago and how he has acted goes completely against this video. He is learning to love me and trust me in his own way. He is 2 and has been with fosters since he was 10 months. He is a lot of work, is not snuggly and wants everything on his terms. Instead of looking at how your dog should act to show you love look at those precious moments that they give you, even if it's only fleeting.
Had one of my dogs for 3-4 years and the other one for 5-6 years and this video makes me realize I dont have a strong bond with my dog and I will try to build a stronger bond with my dogs. A few of these things in the video were true for me and my dog but some were not.
I am a veterinarian for a rescue organization . We had a Kelpie that had eleven owners and who was badly mistreated. . The dog kept coming back and back. It was terrible. A young woman adopted him and trained with him. We told her that the dog had attachment problems. She said why we humans always assume that dogs have to love us, without giving them reasons for it and relying on them to just do it. The dog is now 16 years old and I have never seen a stronger bond between a human and dog. She uploaded a cuddle video of him to show that he is also looking for and allowing affection But I don't know if I can link that. This video broke my heart in a good way .
I think my dog is just a stubborn dog. He’s smart but also in his teenage phase of puppyhood so sometimes he gets in a mood where he decides he doesn’t want to listen smh I leave the room and come back n ask him “are you done being a jerk?” and he cuddles right up. He’s honestly the sweetest, he’s just hardheaded 😂
My husky sleeps outside alone, doesn't like to cuddle, doesn't come when I call her, but at this point I've just accepted she likes the outdoors alone and is very stubborn towards doing anything she doesn't want to. I thought she hated me or something, but as it turns out, most huskies have similar behaviours.
I had a Husky. This sounds like her. Stubborn as hell, a great escape artist and loves cooler temps. It took me a year to gain her trust. She was a rescue. She died of cancer but we had a lot of fun, developed a great relationship and we loved each other. 🐾❤️
I think it depends on the breed. Some breeds were bred with a specific purpose, and those dogs have their own rules. I have a border collie who is intelligent enough to do what needs to be done because I raise goats, and he is their guard from predators. He loves to 'lick noses' (instead of kisses on the mouth) and will sleep in my room if he has had a busy few days with the goats. He isn't my pet; he is my co- worker!
I noticed as time goes on that my English Setter/Cocker spaniel mix Howie is starting to use some of these things with my father, who was his previous guardian. It’s subtle, but it’s there. Considering the disgusting narcissist abuses him when he’s home I’m truly not surprised. In fact the only concerning thing I’ve seen in this video that Howie does with me is ignore my commands when he goes walkies, but as the video said dogs don’t always listen if there’s no threat. When we’re out in public or the weather is unpleasant he obeys. It’s still nice to know Howie prefers me though, despite it not being an expected outcome. I love my boy unconditionally. I make sure he eats even if I don’t. I put him first. I have to; if I don’t, who will? But it’s nice to know it’s appreciated.
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now.
I think my JR loves me, might be something to do with the fact that she gets in my dressing gown as soon as I get up, like a kangaroo pouch, she lives in/on me outside of meal/walkie time/playtime. Wakes me up in the morning by putting her nose close to mine and stealing my breath! Staring into my eyes! 😂 we are as one since she came home with me at 8 weeks. She does love other people too, just we have a special bond. 👍❤️
Dog that have a special bond with their owner want to be around them. Thats why when you leave the room or house, they tend to snuggle up with your clothes. Your clothes has your scent and reminds them of you. Thats a strong indication that your dog has a special bond with you.
First thing in the morning and at night. Your the first thing that they want to see when they get up and the last thing before they go to bed. That's another big indication that your dog loves you and has a very strong, special connection with you.
Another very strong indication is eye contact. They won't stare at your eyes or make eye contact with you unless the both of you have a strong connection.
My dog that recently passed loved to be near me, followed me everywhere, but he hated full body cuddles. He was a pretty floofy golden retriever, so I think he got overheated really easily. If anyone tried to cuddle with him, even me, he would scoot away. He would, however, put his paws on my feet or head on my knee often.
Sorry you lost your buddy. Remember not all dogs like hugs or cuddles. I had a very alpha male who was like that, but showed his friendliness in other ways like your guy.
My first little dog was the same; she really preferred to be touching my leg or foot as opposed to being in my lap (unless it was a car ride) and on her terms. Losing her was the hardest thing, I'm sorry for your loss.
Oh my god, my heart 😭 my dog is always a cuddly ball of love after eating meals. He runs into the living room after eating, jumps onto the couch and collapses into my lap and rubs all over me. I love you too little guy!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of my in-laws' dogs was terrified of my husband for years and we didn't know what hubby did to deserve the treatment. The best we could guess was my hubby is very fun and active when playing with our kids and the other dogs. Even then I question it (I full on chased him and the other dogs yelling as loud as I could to save the parrot from them and he would still cuddle with me afterwards). But then the dog moved out with my husband's brother. Now when they come over and bring him he will full on cuddle with my hubby (when before you would be surprised to see them in the same room). I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder. Hahahaha
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now.
Walked home, a dog came out of the woods. 1st sign he didn't like me- he growled..2nd sign he didn't like me- he tried to bite me. 3rd sign he didn't like me- he chased me when I ran. 😂
I came here out of curiosity. I think im pretty good with my big baby. Although it said 'after eating and your dog wants to cuddle up to you, your good' My dog after eating: 'aw yeah you wanna fight!? Cmon *boxes on with me*' 😂
I have a dog from the shelter and it was scared of everything . It took 3 months for Freya to just start to play with us. So it started as the dog from the video and now she sleeps with us, play with us and lisens to comands. She is a great dog from the movie "10 Signs Your Dog REALLY Trusts You" and I'm realy haapy about it :)
Dogs from the shelter can be harder to form a bond with because of trust issues that the dog may have. It may take time. And it may also require a special trainer.
People that get rescue animals have to remember that dogs from a shelter have most likely seen the worst in society. And I don't blame them why they don't trust humans and they tend to have trust and behavioral issues.
It is though. If your dog doesn't show these signs, you can rest assured. If it shows these signs, you know you're doing something wrong. Either way, you benefit.
Just keep in mind some breeds are not tail waggers. Sighthounds are not particularly waggy dogs. They'll do it when they're really excited but it usually stops quickly. They tend to be more independent so while they like to be in the same room as you, they probably won't be trying to crawl into your lap or lick your face. Nothing wrong with that, it's just a different temperament.
Was looking to see if anyone else mentioned this. My dog happily greets me and loves me in other ways but she only wags her tail under super excitement under certain situations. A lot of this video is honestly subjective. Some dogs don't like to cuddle either but will stay near by and follow room to room instead.
I love how this guy cheerily tells people 'your dog hates you' in various ways, over and over.
Lmao
"Remember that if you can't even attain the love of a dog, you might as well give up right now" 🙂
Lol your partner left you, your boss sacked you, your family ignore you…..and guess what!!! Your dog hates you!!!!🤣🤦♀️ I feel your pain!!!
Haha
Lol
The anxiety I had coming into this video and the relief after was a whole adventure..

Same! Holy crap lol
Thank you. ❤
How is he doing now? Dogs need a TON of attention ❤

also if your angry at something dont raise your voice no matter who your a.
Thoughts and prayers for all the folks learning that their dog doesn't like them.

Animals KNOW who they can trust and who they can't. Good for you, adopting a rescue, and one who trusted you from the start. Not all rescues do that.

My Husky ignores everything I say to him. I don't think he hates me. I honestly believe he's just a jerk.
Typical husky. This list is not accurate to huskies. Huskies are their own species. He's not ignoring you, he's choosing not to listen because its the best way to irritate you.

my husky does the exact same thing... ignoring me all the time
Just to make people aware. SOME DOGS ARE JUST INDEPENDENT as well, doesn't mean your dog doesn't love you
My little Yorkie is so independent. Whenever my mom or I would come home, he would look at us then go back to sleep lol. However, he HAS to go to bed or overall be near us when we're home. It'll either be the next room over where he can see us or on the other side of the couch. He's a dog that likes his space but also always wants to be near us.
I just pictured my dog washing all of his dishes by himself 😆
This is true. Some stories about Caucasian shepherds are hilarious. One person recalled how their Caucasian shepherd was dognapped, probably by someone looking for a home pet. Three days later, they found their dog "unceremoniously" dumped in their front lawn. This breed is very independent.
I wish my abused, neglected, abandoned, and subsiquently rescued Pit, Cookie, was more independent. Cookie is seemingly surgically attached to my wife Kathie and I. Ya, "vicious" Pit Bull. LOLOL!
Also, when It comes down to it, Cookie IS Momma's dog.

❤😢
I'm pretty sure your dog had a wonderful life
Sounds like you gave that puppa doo all the love you could, and that's all any dog could ask for.

I have a 6 month old lab puppy and a 5 year old German Shorthair pointer. Based on this video they love me!! And I love them. They are my everything.
I’ve had a 15 year old shepherd for 2 years whose family had to give him up. He tolerates me but he’s still being loyal to his “real” family and keeps his distance. I don’t blame him. He’s a gentleman and waiting for them to come for him.
Oh you're precious, time will heal, I feel for you both
Aww poor thing.
Something is seriously wrong there.
oh how sad! bless you both!
The best parts of my day are when I’m busy or distracted and I happen to look up and find my dog lying on the couch lovingly gazing at me. ❤️❤️❤️
I get creeped out when I catch my dog staring at me haha
Eyes of hunger
It’s so pure
My dog is constantly staring at me. Not sure of his intentions but I always ask him: Wilbur, how come every time I look at you, you’re looking at me? He usually follows up with an incessant whine bc he’s a GSD and that’s what he’s good at. 🙄
My best part is getting home and seeing my dog, lexi, looking out the window waiting for me and then be so happy when I get home.
For those worried: don't worry too much. If you are kind to your dog, don't overreact to things, help, care for, teach, and play with it well, it's going to love you. Love covered in fur is pretty much what dogs are.
that's a perfect description

Cool 😎
My dog smiles! It is the funniest thing! I can say smile at me and she does it! She looks so goofy! Cracks me up every time! When I adopted her they had written it on her paper work so who ever got her would not think she was barring her teeth!

One of my dogs stopped obeying me, this was surprising because she always been very well behaved, this change was slow but at some point I realized she couldn't hear anymore
I remember I started moving my hands to attrack her attention, and then I made all kind of weird movements trying to convey my intentions, it actually worked and we developed some hand signals we both understood
It was my sister which one day told me I was doing the same with my other dog, and with the rest of my family, they were wondering if I had some kind of problem myself 🤣
When I trained my girl, now an elderly Siberian Husky, I implemented the hand signals in case this happen. Instead she is going half blind.
You might want to add a FLASHLIGHT to call her in from the yard in the dark?
i started doing this when my doggy grew old too :’)
she was a smart lil cookie so she got the memo and learned to understand it so quickly!
reenforcing training with treats also works wonders for food-driven dogs x
I have always taught my dogs sign language, as well as spoken commands, in the event of hearing loss. Our dog doesn’t eat dinner until we eat dinner, and she sits next to the table while we play family games.
This is actually true 😂. My dog does everything with me but doesn't listen my command even when I give it a treat 😂. It's just stubborn.
my other dog is the smiling kind! :D when she's feeling playful she starts grinning, showing her teeth and slapping me with her paws
Yes yes yes.
i have a rottie lab mix 18months old, when she wants my attention she has a funny bark she makes, if i ignore the funny bark she comes and puts her head on my knee and just stands like that because she knows eventually i will not be able to resist and will start to pet her and if i pet her just once she then half climbs in my lap so she is with her stomach on my legs but her behind legs still touch the ground and starts to make this silly high pitched growl and if i bounce her with my legs she raises and raises the pitch of the growls, it's so funny and adorable
Or maybe she’s faking it. Like your husband
@@joshuabodde.6935 how do you know her man?…..He cheated on her witchu or sum ?
I hate dog abusers even more than human ones. What a psychopathic piece of shit, damaging poor souls like that
Mfw you diagnose your dog with anxiety
@@JoelEmmettMcGarrity
? Dogs can have diagnosed anxiety. They can even take medication for it.
They will most likely like you more if you do
that causes separation anxiety, bad tip
So good to know that my dog does, in fact, hate me 😂 I rescued him at 2.5 years old in 2015 and he never fully warmed up to me. He did to some extent, but he’s a super anxious dog and he finds any kind of closeness unnerving. He comes to me and lays down next to me but if I try to pet him or interact with him, or make eye contact, he immediately turns the other way or leaves altogether. I don’t know if he’ll ever fully trust me. It breaks my heart
I also saved my dog but he died at 15 years old. He was being abused by our neighbour.
May or may not be you. It could just be the personality. Think of humans. I can be antisocial , some are social.
Well, in that case I have another 2 years or so ... ... Your comment came as quite a relief! Thank you!
honestly it’s one of the harder parts of adopting a dog who came from a pretty terrible environment because it’s taken my dog almost 7 months to finally get settled and feel comfortable and I’m hoping with time our bond grows
@SunnyinNV just keep loving them. They keep changing. I was told that, but didn't know what it really meant until we got our rescues.
A dog's love is hard to gain but even harder to lose
My dog used to show basically every sign that says he loves me. Then, he became sick, diagnosed with diabetes, and now he's blind. He's my goofball that runs into walls, and I adore him. I think he still loves me even though he doesn't like being touched or around people much anymore
my dachshund is the same. he's just gotten older and wants to be alone.
Respect to the both you for understanding your dogs 🙇🏻
He is officially an Elder Beast. When dogs get old and start feeling badly, they do that, but they still love you. Frankly, really elderly people are similar. They sleep, eat, nap, love you but growing old ain't for sissies, as Bette Davis said. The Elder Beast gets to do what he wants:)
Same with mine. Started having aches and pains I guess.
I got mine back after finding out
Mother dearest was given him shots 3 hours after feeding and father dearest who demanded they have him back before he went diabetic/blind/deaf was hitting the blind deaf dog for walking into things he left on floor!?
And if we'd pick him up, he'd just start hollowing away until he was put down 😅
I knew being diabetic he'd be gone within 24 hours & he was.
Buried him in his favor spot in yard, planted some bleeding hearts, Echinacea and purple flowers💜♥️at his rest spot
God bless you
Hope you have the support and courage to continue on road of compassion and companionship
Great comment!

I am besides myself so I understand you, and I feel for you
I’m so very sorry for the pain in your heart from your loss. I know that feeling. 😢❤

I’m guessing it was baring teeth (which was rolled into #2, growling).
Or it was a move to make us watch the links pop up. 🙄
Me who does not have a dog watching this while remembering my dog, who passed away 5 years ago 😢 She loved me and tried to clean my tears with her paws. I still remember that moment 🥺
@Nashixxa I’m sorry for your loss. Even if it was a while age
Arrrr u gave ur dog a beautiful life
I love that my dog brings me endless toys. She just lays them all around me. Sometimes I will work on a project from bed and when I shut my laptop, I literally have 10 toys placed all around me. 😂 She doesn't even want to play most times. She is just bringing me gifts. 😍
That is so completely adorable.

-30 celcius is 20 celcius below being able to survive even for a dog
I learned from this video that my first dog that lived to be 18 and a half. He didn't like me for a lot of the time probably the first 10 years. We were rowdy and picked on him when we were little but then grew to love him and connect with him. And my second dog that lived to be 12 and a half. She loved us from one week of being with us until the day she died ❤️
Good story, Best wishes to you.
How did a video teach you how long your first dog lived?
You aren't a good pet owner if you owned them for like 22+ years and haven't learned their body language and behaviour lmao
@Alexander Howarth the story tought that him, that looking back. His dog didn't like him when he was young(most unguided kids are not good with dogs). But he learned fron his mistakes and bonded with the dog when he became more mature, and when the dog was in his golden years. The. When he got his second dog, he knew exactly how to love it
@The Gator Hator re read the comment you're wrong
My puppy is 15 weeks old, he runs and jumps on me after every meal, wants to sleep on me at night and he has already learned to sit, stay, lie down and hi five.
This video has just made me realise how much of a best friend I now have.
Hahah! I'm lying in bed with my dog lying on the bed next to me, my left elbow leaning on her back,.like a warm and furry cushion {Whippet} .She's currently 7 months old.
The love between your dog will be much more in the next years trust me. I thought in the beginning it couldnt be higher but it did.
I'm jealous 😂
My puppy is very food motivated (to the point I have to feed her in a closed room so she won't steal the other dogs.
Watching this realising my recently passed dogs loved me as does our new dog 🥰
Most of this is pretty good advice... only a couple things with which I take issue:
FULL DISCLOSURE: I was a vet tech for 6 years, was a dog trainer and behaviorist before that with a focus on positive, not negative, reinforcement. With that said, the things with which I take issue:
#13 - Not accurate.
Ummm... Where is #1?
thank you.....i am so tired o fmisinformation about dogs!!!!!!!!!!!
I try to be mindful of this as it can also cross into positive punishment, which i try to avoid
yeeeeeees where is #1
My dog: Snuggles up to me so tight that I fall of my bed at night and kisses me nonstop when i get home from work
Me: I’ll watch this just in case (:
I rescued my doggie after people kept giving up on her. Now we act stupid together and I absolutely love it!
They know if you love them and if you do, then for sure they do too, because they just have YOU for them
i wonder if a dog would love an android or if they wouldn't go along with it
@@nuckygulliver9607 love. I've seen dogs fall in love with toys, pillows, and just about anything. Dogs are just like that...full of love and give it freely.

You're right. They're not like people where you can do for them and they're still ungrateful or don't care for you.
Same! My Aussie is literally the best dog I’ve ever had. So smart! He shows me he loves me every single second haha 😂 he’s the best.
The worst thing is seeing that my dog loves my husband ALOT, and doesn’t think much of me. I get really hurt at this. People don’t even treat me as if I matter. And when you think your own dog is supposed to love you and doesn’t when the world abandons you too , that really hurts. My own dog doesn’t even love me.😢
Sending you a big hug and support! You will eventually find people who will respect and love you❤️

awwww I understand this.

Love american bulldogs😍❤️
The amount of relief I have is overwhelming Edit: my dog follows me around endlessly
Lmfaooo^
@Pingu0 I am. And I want dat a$$
same i thought i was gonna regret clicking on this video.... but no and i dont know why i thought this video would make me regret my life choices and it gave me such a big relief...my dog follows me to and at 3 am when hes asleep next to my feet on my bed and im seeping he comes and licks my face and crys untill i give him kisses
@@wonhos_sweaty_ballsack8735 hahaha Nice comeback...
I was pretty sure my little fella loved me but this just makes me feel even better. 😭 💕
Watching this video just makes me realize how much my dog loves me like I didn’t already know she did
Oh yes. This. Video is absolutely Amazing.
♥️🥲
This video makes me realise how much my dog hates me
@@Dibdab9303 😂 do they get lots of walks?
@@jackmassie5750 hehe yeah I was joking.
Remember folks...dogs are individuals. These signs, although a good base line, do not fit every scenario for a dog's behavior.
Exactly
Tilly is a shredder, but as I've been learning how to provide her with appropriate outlets for her energy (which includes giving her appropriate items to shred), she is calmer around the house and I can once more hear myself think.
thank you so muh for not abandoning her.. yes it takes time and patience. tilly will bond with you in time!!!
Must be related to her name! My dog's name is also Tilly. She's the same!
I adopted a Labrador/cur mix 4 months ago and it took about 4 weeks for us to really bond and ever since then he never wants to leave my side, as the bond gets stronger training them gets so much easier, they are very loyal and energetic dogs, I wish you and Tilly the best of luck
Curs are amazing dogs. I have one and she is the sweetest, weirdest, most funny dog I’ve ever met. She also talks a lot
When I adopted my dog from the rescue, it took a year before she would sleep in my bed but she finally did. I knew it was a trust thing and I let her take her time. She ALWAYS meets me at the door with her toys! I think it is the cutest thing in the world!
It's not the cutest thing in the world if your dog weighs 85 lbs. and pounces on top of you in your bed @ 4:30 AM wanting to go for his daily walk!
Sometimes the best relationship is with a dog. I really hope that doesn't sound weird.
Just because they don't cuddle with you doesn't mean they don't love you
To the the new pet owner don't doubt your dog over this video
( we got dog owners in the comments, hello fellas how you doing )
Especially a dog who has known a hard life beforehand.. We had a devoted lurcher who had a start in life like this, she never was ''Cuddly'' but loved to lie close.
Yeah, my dog doesnt cuddle with anyone after he eats but he definetely love us all, every dog is different
Oh cuz I got depressed. My baby cuddles only on his terms … never when I wanna cuddle lol
Animals are just like us. They have unique personalities some just don’t like to cuddle and express love in other ways
Every dog that I've ever adopted and it's been 7 has been extremely grateful and affectionate towards me they were happy to be in a loving caring home
Awwww! I'm so happy for that dog to finally find a great home! 🥲 thanks for sharing!

This is the rescued kelpie.
Sounds like your dog hates you
My husky sleeps outside alone, doesn't like to cuddle, doesn't come when I call her, but at this point I've just accepted she likes the outdoors alone and is very stubborn towards doing anything she doesn't want to.
My husky does the exact thing, she doesn't like to cuddle,so stubborn,
I think it depends on the breed.
My Husky\Shepard is very similar, very independent
Love it!
My dog that recently passed loved to be near me, followed me everywhere, but he hated full body cuddles. He was a pretty floofy golden retriever, so I think he got overheated really easily. If anyone tried to cuddle with him, even me, he would scoot away. He would, however, put his paws on my feet or head on my knee often.
awe I'm so sorry for your loss❤️ I'm sure he was a good boy🥺
OMG I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOST, MAY UR DOG REST IN PIECE😢😢😢🥺😭😭😭😭😭
Sorry you lost your buddy. Remember not all dogs like hugs or cuddles. I had a very alpha male who was like that, but showed his friendliness in other ways like your guy.
My first little dog was the same; she really preferred to be touching my leg or foot as opposed to being in my lap (unless it was a car ride) and on her terms. Losing her was the hardest thing, I'm sorry for your loss.
I know that feeling and it sucks
Tried this on my lab, happy to see he didnt show any of these negative signs and embraced me with fuzzy warmth
this makes me feel good about my relationship with my girl im gonna go pet her right now :)
I didn't have a dog, but when I get one, I'm gonna get myself a golden retriever
And ur comment is cute
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao feel the bern!!! Lol
Walked home, a dog came out of the woods. 1st sign he didn't like me- he growled..2nd sign he didn't like me- he tried to bite me. 3rd sign he didn't like me- he chased me when I ran. 😂
Give her pets for me!
It took Chewie a few months to be comfortable around me when I adopted him. Eight years later I can happily say he doesn’t do any of these things 🙏
I came here out of curiosity. I think im pretty good with my big baby.
Although it said 'after eating and your dog wants to cuddle up to you, your good'
My dog after eating: 'aw yeah you wanna fight!? Cmon *boxes on with me*' 😂
I have a dog from the shelter and it was scared of everything . It took 3 months for Freya to just start to play with us. So it started as the dog from the video and now she sleeps with us, play with us and lisens to comands. She is a great dog from the movie "10 Signs Your Dog REALLY Trusts You" and I'm realy haapy about it :)
Lol my bff is named freya
That is a strong indication that your dog loves you, trusts you, and that you both have a strong bond.
They most likely been abused, abandoned and hurt by their previous owners. Which is so sad.
This video is amazing! It’s like the most useful thing in the world to know that your best friend doesn’t love you. That’s such an amazing message!
Do better!
Then dont make the dog hate you, easy
@@yomatasaki ... the question is HOW do I make my dog not hate me?
My jack russell terrier ignores but always sits next to me and follows me everywhere I go. He just has his personality
