It's crazy how I've had this game for 7 years and I still play it consistently, I bought a better PC just to play this game, that's how much I love it.

It went from a fun addictive time waster where you crash a blue truck with realistic physics into a monochrome cube, and it evolved into one of my most favorite games. I bought a PC racing wheel just for BeamNG. I love that the game is continually updated, and new and exciting things are always on the horizon for this game. It has been a pleasure to follow the development all these years. It's great that it was a game about crashing cars, and now one of the most fun things to do in the game is try not crash cars. When you combine it with customizing your own gateway cars, it is extremely addictive. I agree the cars are well made in BeamNG, but everything else is behind the technological curve. Also, there is no career mode or official multiplayer, so the game still needs a lot of time in the oven.

@@francoismurrell4604 There are a lot of similar complaints for games like Star Citizen. But I look at what games like BeamNG and SC offer at the moment, and you can't get those experiences in any other game on the market at the moment. Creating and R&D'ing groundbreaking new tech takes time, but the payoff is well worth it. I say BeamNG devs should take all the time they need, because as it stands now, BeamNG runs absolute circles around every other racing sim on the market (except for maybe Wreckfest).

Wreckfest is low level arcade game compared to Beam.

I know automation has existed for a while now, but I appreciate that they made it because they made modding easy for people that don't want to install one or make their own. This is the exact opposite of what minecraft is doing right now with the October 5th update. What happened was they updated the game to a different game file or something like that and it made minecraft modding impossible without the marketplace, not to mention it deleted a bunch of minecraft world's. There was a free extension for minecraft bedrock that made it easy to import mods into the game. And because Microsoft is a greedy country the removed it from the Microsoft store. For the devs that bought beamng, thank you for not making the same mistakes as Microsoft and giving us this wonderful journey with this game.

i remember in 2016 sometime, i was around 12-13 years old when i was actually thinking about making a game with a similar mechanic as the nodes and beams that beamng uses. at the time i had a magnet set. i cant remember the brand but it was basically a bunch of magnetic ball bearings and little sticks that would link up using the bearings as joints. i had thought about the idea of games using a similar mechanic to have more satisfying bending of metalic materials. these magents were one of my favorite toys along side legos of course.
im not sure if youtube will let me link it but there are still sets you can buy today that are very similar.
anyway i wanted to figure out how to make a game that used a similar idea to play around with. i didn't have a computer and my school was pretty rural and underfunded so they offered nothing in terms of computer sciences.
then i found a whybeare video. it had autoplayed from a robocraft video that i was watching because i was super interested in realistic/satisfying destruction sandboxes. of course robocrafts much different now then it was at the time.
but at first i didn't really think anything of it. he was just driving around in a d series and i didn't really get to see the actual physics. when he hit a wall with that truck i was thinking 'wow thats some really good crashing models. looks super realistic.' but the more i watched the more i realized that it wasn't just crashing models, it was a full on sim of an actual vehicle.
this was the first and so far only game that i have seen a similar concept implemented. the fact that its so popular now and the devs have fleshed it out so much is amazing. now that i have a pc beamng has been one of my top 3 favorite games for years. its the literal embodiment of something that i had wanted for so long as a kid and actually found.

I've been playing this game since alpha State, that's before it was on steam. Before BeamNG was on steam, they had their own proprietary launcher, and you had to buy the game from the website. When The devs moved BeamNG onto steam, I got an email with a product key for the steam version.
The game has had so many updates since 2013, the first update I ever saw was the Ibishu 200BX. Back then The soft body physics were almost beyond state-of-the-art. And they are even more so today, as well as many of the additions to the physics of the game, like engine parts breaking, tires going flat, brake fade, etc.
After a decade of playing this game, I am even more interested in playing it today than I was 10 years ago.

The only thing that makes me really like this game is because it's tight from a big vehicle like a truck moving when the truck is also moving. And when the truck braked. It's really already realistic Bro. And one more. When in first person mode and passing through a tree/tunnel, the shadow in the car is also followed by the shadow of the object that is passing by, just like in the real life

One of my favorite little changes was the turbo whistle on diesel engines. For example, take the 6.0L turbodiesel V8. Before, you really didn’t hear a turbo whistle even if you had the highest spec turbo. At some point they changed that and now diesels sound mean as hell

what Beam NG devs dont realize is that its not graphics or maps that attract players but its pure destruction physics, if i was CEO i would have spend all the money to improve destruction and make as realistic as possible, Better!

My first version of deamng drive was 0.3.0., I got acquainted with this game in the year so 2016, then I was actively looking for new games for myself, in particular it was racing preferably with good damage, for me at that time there were only three games in which there were +/- good damage, this is burnout paradise, the series of games flatout and GTA 4, (why exactly these three games, because these first two were my favorite grams in which I learned that cars can be destroyed in games (of course the games were pirated), but when I saw on TH-cam a lot of videos on the game in which very at that time (2016) realistic damage physics, I also wanted to try to play, watch it, that's how I got acquainted with beamng, the first impressions of this game were amazing, I came up with a lot of cool situations, rally, drift, or just crashed cars, for me this game became a favorite, unfortunately beamng drive was also pirated the version with mods, but it was enough for me, time passed, I searched the Internet for a new version, etc., only in 2020 I decided to buy my favorite game, the game caused a lot of different emotions, although my PC is not really pulling a new beamng, but I can't quit it anymore... Of course, I'm waiting for an update when scratches are added, this is what beamng is sorely lacking. I hope the translator translated my text correctly...

I honestly forget when I bought it. Relatively early after it became available on Steam, I want to say, as the 200BX was my favorite car (even though I couldn't drive it yet lol).
Looking forward to the 200BX remaster, as the little car deserves it.
I had stopped playing the game for a long time though once I got bored of it, and I'd played it once or twice since, but coverage of 0.23? (the one with the tire update) prompted me to pick it back up and start playing in earnest. Between the game being much better, and my own skill being dramatically improved, it's now my favorite game and will soon become my highest-hour on Steam.
Just for fun, my favorite car after rediscovering the game was the Covet. I just kept coming back to it no matter what I drove.
Although now I've finally gotten a new favorite with the v0.27 update - I LOVE THE STAMBECCO. (4x4 van forever fite me)
It's not fast, but it's SO much fun. You can get that thing sideways at will and then catch it again without a problem as long as you don't flip it, and it'll go almost anywhere short of proper rocks and super steep inclines. Add the roll cage and you've got one of the toughest cars in the game.
