Man, even if they did, I'd pay for it in a heart beat. I almost want to pay for the game again, just because I feel like I didn't pay enough 8 years ago.
It's because they make BeamNG out of passion, not greed. They could've easily made big maps that were later added like Italy a paid DLC and in today's gaming economy that would seem quite logical. They however, seem like people who find money as a cool litte bonus from making the game. BeamNG is really like an old school game in the way that you buy the game and that's it. You literally get the whole game. And that's why we love the devs so much, because at this point everything they add in the game feels like a gift from them to us. Just look at the game's price. It costs less than most half-assed projects in Unity that constantly pop up on Steam.
I'm so glad bein part of the BeamNG Community for over 8 years. It's been a crazy ride and every year the game makes me more and more happy. Can't wait for another 8 years. This will be the TOP game on the market. The Rigs Of Rods, everytime you talk about it, all of my moments comes back haha. I have a very old channel on YT with few crash compilations from that game 😃
BeamNG is honestly carrying car games for me; not sure if I would’ve gotten a full sim setup if it wasn’t for this game. And other than that, BeamNG is probably the only game that is versatile enough to keep coming up with new video ideas that entertain your audience, but no one knows that better than you :D
BeamNG drive is slowly becoming more realistic, until it becomes just so realistic that will look same as real life (also i started watching this video under half minutes) edit: i see, alot of likes
@@Zafor-ium I run a Moza R5 but usually just play on controller. The force feedback isn't quite there yet on direct drive wheels IMO. Too much noise and vibration.
My favorite part of BeamNG is how supportive the community is. I've been in a handful of gaming communities and was always disappointed by how toxic players could be towards devs. But the bulk of BeamNG players are open to the direction the developers are taking the game and rarely complain; Knowing the developers can't please everyone at once :D
I do agree with that. I was harassed by two nfs fanboys for liking unbound despite it being flawed and that they made the point of their hatred of the game and it was time to move on. Needless to say i muted both of them and moved on as it was no point in trying to talk and one of them made me the reason the game in their opinion terrible like they aren't even doing the same for harassing fans and devs
Beamng devs will always implement what we want in the game, as long as it's reasonable. Just, some updates come earlier, and some later. -still waiting for the miramar remaster-
Fr, I've never seen a playerbase more appreciateive and supportive of the dev team, and I feel like that's reciprocated by the devs to the player base too, we all listen to and respect eachother, and it makes the game incredible to enjoy
The thing about offroad vehicles is that they typically have more niche types of suspension and drive systems, which gives the opportunity dev team to add underlying systems that can be used for other things later. For example, the Wydra being amphibious or a skid-steer.
Haha, I found it ironic that you were talking about how we read the comments, as I was reading the comments lol. Anyways super cool video! Made me smile :D!
We appreciate that you guys do. I think the only thing Beam really lacks for being a perfect All-in-one simulation happens to be dynamic weather. Even iRacing of all Sims got it this year. We know it's a dog to get done, but I strongly think it should be along the lines to get done; even if it's very late. iRacing took almost 15 years to finally implement, after 2 or 3 years of development. (and they got it pretty close). I also know that there is A LOT more for the Beam dev team to consider for dynamic weather, especially given that Beam overall has far more terrain types than iRacing has. Okay and this is just me wishful thinking: Beam NG's node system for crash physics to iRacing, when? 😁😁

I love your videos man, someone to appreciate and share the little details and history of BeamNG that YBR hooked me on back in 2013. While his channel is gone, yours is here!
i remember that at some point last year one the updates for beamng made the camera not move to the side to better see the vehicle when in the vehicle configurator. i then reached out to one of the devs on twitter and reported the issue, which was fixed in the next update.
I remember back when BeamNG look like a PS3 game when i was very young, but now i think it's about to changed and improved... thanks to BeamNG Devs (& Rigs of Rods Devs) for this awesomeness and brings many youtubers.. 👍👍

I have over 2000 hours in BeamNG and played the heck out of RoR when I was a kid, my PC could barely run it but that didnt stop me. I've loved every minute of it, I don't think there is a better Dev team out there.
I played a ton of the BeamNG demo, an older version from probably 2014 where you could only drive the D-series. My computer could barely run it since I didn’t really have a GPU, so I had to take parts off the truck to get better performance. I probably played at 10-20 fps the whole time, but it was worth it for the physics. I’m so glad I actually bought the game years later, because the devs are the greatest. The game itself is revolutionary as well.
Barely anyone is working on Rigs of Rods anymore. It has some great potential due to its open source nature, where anyone can work on it, however most treat it as some ancient alpha demo and nobody ever tries to make it better.
I play this game since tech demo with just the original gridmap... Although my pc back then made it into a slideshow. Recently found out there actually is a career mode already(thanks to ur channel). Have been playing constantly since then. Beamng wil always have a special place in my heart
This approach to community feedback and taking good suggestions is so nice. It's one of the best things that I think can happen between a studio and the community that plays its games. I think it also speaks to the quality of the community when they can come up with really good ideas and make real, substantive critiques and not just dogpile that the game sucks or whatever. As for myself, I don't really interact with the community much as I mostly keep to myself and play beam once every few updates. What I can say though is that every time I come back to the game I find so much new and interesting stuff. Often in places I would normally not be excited about. Like the offroad van, I don't do offroading ever, but I spend a few hours driving that thing around the desert trails having a great time. The only thing that I think this game needs is for the dev team to keep going as they have been so far. Clearly this is a very good way to keep the game fresh and to keep the community enthusiastic engaged. There aren't many games with as good a community, or as good a Dev team as Beam has, it's kinda the opposite of EA or Ubisoft. In a great way of course! PS to the devs: I think beam has the best motion blur implementation in any modern game, it's actually fantastic. Only game where I leave it turned on.
I really like the Pirate background and text box that appears in a pirated version, it's so cool when devs do that, even more so when they are so chill, these are truly great devs
Sir Skyfall, I am glad your channel is growing as fast as it has been. I too am a beam NG TH-camr who puts hundreds of editing hours into some of my videos, and understand how difficult it can be to edit. Then how frustrating it can be to post the videos only to see a yt short of some rainbow car crashing into a sign and getting millions of views. So I'm glad your growing and hope you continue to gain more subs, views, likes, etc as you definitely do deserve them as do the rest of us beam NG content creators do who pour hours of effort into videos.
I 100% don’t regret getting beamng. I have hundreds of hours yet I’m still addicted, I do wish we could see a couple other features like cars getting dirty and similar features. 20/10 game though, would recommend.
BeamNG's developers are the only "car guys making a game for car guys". Every other car game company is ran by people that don't care about the community. They only care about money and staying in buisness forever. But BeamNG is just pure passion and I hope that it will never be developed under some PG or EA guy.
Don't get me wrong, the Beam devs are great, but they never always used to be like this. I remember a time when reasonable requests would be met with "check the FAQ" "we can't do that" "we'd be better optimising the game instead" "this is not possible within the limits of the game engine" etc. I recall one of those things was opening doors. As usual someone modded it in and proved it was possible and they followed suit. Updates would break all the user generated content for the sake of fixing an invisible graphics bug on a 20 year old GPU that can't even run the game. It was so frustrating. I'm glad they switched things up and changed for the best. I am now genuinely excited to see what the future holds in store for the game.
@@br0ken_toast414 It feels to me like the game is missing something when there’s an old 90s-2000s truck and suv and there’s no modern versions of them, I mean a ton of new trailers where added why not make a new truck and suv to go along with them?
So happy that I've experienced the community of BeamNG in my life. I don't think I would be the same since not only is BeamNG fun but also taught me so much (and when I get a wheel, will teach me much more) about cars and how they work. First watching yt videos about it both the trailers and Ybr videos. I was instantly into it. Now the game has progressed so far with the determination and sheer will of the devs and the community. It's why BeamNG is getting so much more fame now, because of the community's involvement, while I am kind of sad that usually people know this as a car crashing game, I'm happy that the game is getting the fame it deserves. As well as the amazing devs.
I had an internship in their Headquarters in Bremen a few years ago. That was the most chill working experience I have had yet. Everyone there is your average gamer / nerd and it felt like a real life discord server. Shit talking and all. You could also really feel the passion they have for the game, as well as the community. Sadly I was too socially awkward and not knowledgeable enough to really get a view into the game design process. But would still recommend applying there, if you get the chance.
Been playing Beam since 2013, it's been such a treat watching this game grow. It's barely even recognizeable from that first alpha release. I love the variety of cars, maps, racing disciplines, activities, and even the nods to other games and media. It's so good to have devs that are geeks. 10 years on and I still get hyped whenever there's a new update. Looking forward to the next decade!
I don't personally play BeamNG that much. But I think its one of the msot important titles in the driving simulation space. Im excited for everything they do. Since discovering the game, i have entered university to study mechanical engineering, and am specializing in multi-body dynamic simulations. Which has just given me a greater appreciation for what this team has achieved. Its so incredible we can run this on a home desktop.
2 ideas for a future update. Vibration on controllers (or wheel) for tire sliding. Noise for tire scrub or low levels of sliding. Some tire squeal early on but others don't make noise until you've already lost adhesion.
Love this mini documentary! Just a question: How did you made these 2:36 Whiteboard like animations? I always see them in videos but never bothered to ask how they are made until now. THX!
I’m sorry, I thought I already replied to your previous comment, my apologies! What I did is taking a top-down shot of Gridmap V2, increasing the contrast & adding some grain in Photoshop and then importing the image into my video editing software. You can obviously speed this up by just using a grid paper texture. Then I added the images and text for the animation and animated the position, rotation etc. Finally, I nested the clip and applied a 3d effect for a nicer look.
@@SkyFall4839 no worries, no need to excuse! :D What for photoshop do you use and which video editing software ? That’s like a really smart idea, I was thinking it’s just a grid paper background, but no it was grid map. Lol.
This game has given me a core memory with my little cousin. I would watch channels who just made random “what would happen if….” Videos and my cousin sat and watched. He was 6-8 at the time. He just started laughing so hard when the cars crashed. I was 20-23. I couldn’t help but laugh with him. His pure laugh was just too much! He laughed so hard that he started to cry! It was one of the best times, and I needed to laugh around that time.
Great info! I watched the referenced vodcast and hate how little Nataliia was able to say. Jared had lots of great things to talk about, but man did he dominate the convo. hahaha!
I just love beamNG and thier devs. I purchased the game in May 2015 after i saw a gameplay and played the Demo. The way the physics worked stunned me. Now, 9 years later, i still play the game regularly. With 800+ hours it's by far my most played game in my steam library (i think only Minecraft can beat this) and no other game has managed to keep my attention for so long. The Carrer mode was announced so many years ago and finally playing the W.I.P Career mode just makes me happy and excited about the future! Thanks for this game BeamNG devs!
I had to do a presentation at school about the evolution of car safety back in I think 2015. The presentation was a flop but I lugged my PC to school and gave a live demo of BeamNG which impressed the teachers so much that they let me pass.
17:48 well now, this is probably why it is so easy for mod makers to do damaged parts/beater configs, just easily make the damages you want, export, and you got a saved damaged part model, so you can get things like a door dent, an already broken hood/trunk latch without having it break when first spawned (gavril vertex beater is example)
The BeamNG devs are the best but lets not forget the community, it holds and is held by amazing content creators, modders, and even organizations that help the game grow and become accessible to a wider audience, there are stories like WhyBeAre which i grew up watching and the big creators like MuYe and Nielogical and others including the smaller creators like SkyFall, BeamDriver, TalksWithNoise, Bio, etc. The devs are great and they have a great community behind them! Great vid! :D
Yep, that’s probably one of the main reasons why I love the devs. Casual, down to earth and transparent - the gaming world would be a better one if other game studios were already just half as good!
@@SkyFall4839 i honestly really love this game and the developers. i am trying to become a game dev myself and the beamng devs are one of the people i aspire to be like
As I approach 1250 hours in this game, I have to take my hat off to your excellent video. Also I giggled that we actually got a member of the devteam in the comments! My favorite games are the ones where the community and dev team are respectful to each other and both are interested in the same thing: Making an awesome game.
I love BeamNG's approach to design, work, and collaboration. For years, I could only infer some of these things from seeing the way they released updates (a big one is one game purchase entitles the player to a lifetime of base game updates for as long as people continue to be interested in the game). The team live out so many business/organizational best practices that others may mention but not actually live and breathe on the daily. That said, I think a number of small to mid sized indie game devs all share a spot on the same spectrum as BeamNG. This in no way detracts from the amazing game/community/work environment the BeamNG team have built, and they are definitely one of the if not the most amazing example. I think any smaller studio that's strapped for all resources (cash, manpower, skills, assets) that happens to believe in a vision HAS to reach out to modders, outsourcing, and a community that shares the devs' passion and vision. I'm undoubtedly limited to survivorship bias, since I can't be aware of the many failed projects out there, but some other games with similarly fluid and interconnected communities and devs are: Project Zomboid, Rimworld, Space Engineers, Arma 3. My big gaming phase peaked nearly a decade ago, so I am sure that I have missed a number of other games with similarly passionate and involved/responsive devs and communities that came before and after my small gaming window. I think that most of these other games/devs share at least some if not many of the same attributes you've described here. One thing that all of them do share is a strong commitment to supporting community modding. In pure business terms, it's leveraging dev time that is unpaid by the studio. A lot of the work is done for free by players and modders. Some of it is paid for by players who commission coding work on the games' marketplaces. In practice, the most passionate players are better able to realize and enjoy the content or lesser features they want in a game (to the extent possible short of actually controlling the dev studio and making fundamental changes to the core engine and framework). This frees up the dev studio's resources to focus a bit more on making fundamental changes and improvements to the core engine and framework as necessary and as they are able to within the engine's limits, to further support the community. It could go horribly wrong as anything can, if corporate bean counters get a hold of the process and try to make it a cash grab. But that's fine so long as all these games remain too small, too ornery/contrarian, or otherwisee too unprofitable for someone like EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony, Microsoft, etc to attempt to buy them out. And TBF, some of the most-hated publishers used to be small-time publishers themselves, 30+ years ago. Sometimes you live long enough to become the villain. XD
Was looking for help with recording/editing beamng recordings and happily found this video. Always wanted to learn the inner workings of the developers, and your video delivered. To note use of physics engine to use in movie/television, I do wonder which movie will be or maybe has been using beamng footage. Now back to the watching suspension work while I tackle those rally runs.
hands down best car game dev ever, constant free updates and improvments, great response to community feedback, heaven sent devs with absoletely no complaints
The BeamNG devs also definetely notice what the community is modding in. Theyve improved on derby car modeling help, offroaders, drag cars, drift cars and working on towing capabilities. I remember when they removed the ability to save a damage state one update, and communtiy had outcry and they added that back but said your on your own if it works or not and have kept it in and it still works to this day. They care about every aspect of this game.
Its funny, back when I was poor and just looking for free games online, I found Rig of Rods in like 2011 and started seeing videos from Beamng and Wreckfest (next car game) in 2012/2013 and my mind being blown with soft body or just accurately simulated physics. I am glad that they are absolutely blowing up. Its almost unbelievable because I don't think anyone saw this coming
I remember watching that first CryEngine demo video, then downloading the first playable demo, and then Steam greenlight release, which I bought immediately. I remember you couldn't even stall in the earlier releases, engine sound was awful, the clutch was indestructible, but physics were awesome since day one. I played every update since, and I'm still hyped when new content released because I know it will get even more lifelike. The fact they added VR last year is awesome, thank you BeamNG developers!
Just got my first sim racing wheel, gearstick, and handbrake, and the first thing I did was play BeamNG. Currently learning to drive, and the physics and UI make it really REALLY helpful to master things like the biting point and hillstarts, revmatching, etc. If I was to hint at any features I'd like, I'd ask for a map in the UK, in the Scottish Highlands, in the Pennines, the Lakes, or somewhere like this; somewhere muddy, hilly. Moorlands. The phyiscs for off-roading are so good, I want to see _mud_ physics like we have gotten for dustbowl driving :D
I also wanna point out that the devs are young and breath new life into old workflows, I’m pretty sure they have an amazingly good communication system and plan system.
remember that the devs have passions, just as much as the community wants something, the devs want to make things they like too. if they are passionate about offroading, don't get upset and think they've abandoned onroad driving, let them have fun, you can always suggest anything you want, but development takes much longer than ideating.
The fact they are involving the modding community so heavily into the game's development (hiring them, promoting their content, taking notes and collaborating, listening to input and actually using the input) says waves about how much the devs care about this game. More so, speaks volumes for where the game will go in the future.
The devs are kicking ass. I’d be hella stoked to one day see actual, exploding tires ,moving factory machinery and textures in and around factories , infotainment /Lua radio script for cars realistic weather. This game out does all the others hands down!

Man, even if they did, I'd pay for it in a heart beat. I almost want to pay for the game again, just because I feel like I didn't pay enough 8 years ago.
@@Madpiggaming honestly same, I feel like I'm ripping them off every single update
The game is not even released... How could they charge for DLC?
Two things that I'd love in beamng are
1. being able to select materials for single parts and colouring them
2. adding an armored car
BeamNG drive is slowly becoming more realistic, until it becomes just so realistic that will look same as real life (also i started watching this video under half minutes)

Probably the best developer teams ever

Ayy Jared! Thanks for stopping by :D
even though the game is pretty big, it deserves to be even more popular
i am BEGGING the devs for a miramar remaster
They gave it a refreshed drift config in 0.32, so I reckon it might get some love soon
The 2 og muscle cars need one desperately..
yes, especially a lhd version
burnside special and sunburst need some love too
@@iowanwendigo746 there is a reason for it being rhd though, since it was made in japan, but, maybe if you guys are lucky (im in australia so its no different if its rhd) you could possibly get a USDM config for lhd

HAH, did a double take when i watched this video and suddenly saw myself in the old group photo 😁 Awesome video, Skyfall, that brought back memories. Never worked with a group of people so passionate about creating something special.
one thing I really appreciate is that the devs have always focused on function over form (ie. new mechanics over new cars)
Most anticipated update in Beamng
-Graphics mod
-Online
-split screen
what about scratches and dirt on vehicles
Pre war cars are my number 1 tbh! Online is already a thing (kinda) :)
i would like better tyre physics ngl
graphics would kill the game performance even more, if you make a split screen it would mean you would have to render everything both players see all the time, which means if both were to look on opposite sides, your computer would die, so i prefer a performance update first
I believe split screen already exists in game. Very demanding to run though
Thank BeamNG devs! Your game is amazing and i absolutely love playing this game! Thanks again for all of your time you guys put into this beautiful game! :)
Another thing you could have mentioned:
Rigs of Rods is still having user made content pumped out nearly weekly and still has an sctive user base

I love your videos man, someone to appreciate and share the little details and history of BeamNG that YBR hooked me on back in 2013. While his channel is gone, yours is here!
Much appreciated! I’m very glad you like my channel :)
i remember that at some point last year one the updates for beamng made the camera not move to the side to better see the vehicle when in the vehicle configurator.
i then reached out to one of the devs on twitter and reported the issue, which was fixed in the next update.
I remember back when BeamNG look like a PS3 game when i was very young, but now i think it's about to changed and improved... thanks to BeamNG Devs (& Rigs of Rods Devs) for this awesomeness and brings many youtubers.. 👍👍
as a ps3 owner it indeed looked like a ps3 game

great people great game

Man i have played beamng for years and im a child. Never got disappointed by updates and it changed my perspective looking into cars
As a professional Rigs of Rods modder. I can happily confirm the community is still standing strong. 💪
New vid let's gooooo! Also I love this editing style and dramatization sky!

I play this game since tech demo with just the original gridmap... Although my pc back then made it into a slideshow. Recently found out there actually is a career mode already(thanks to ur channel). Have been playing constantly since then. Beamng wil always have a special place in my heart
It was cool to learn more about the game we have spent so many hours playing and will spend more.
Thanks Sky for the super video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a really big respect for Beamng Devs to ignore their sleep schedule to make us happy
I really like the Pirate background and text box that appears in a pirated version, it's so cool when devs do that, even more so when they are so chill, these are truly great devs
Main thing I'm waiting on is the aerodynamics update
What I personally love about beamng is the mods, as well as specifically mods that I didn't know I wanted, but now realise I need.
Sir Skyfall,
I am glad your channel is growing as fast as it has been.
It’s incredibly hard to build a channel in this niche, but hard works always pays off :)
I’ve been playing this game since 2013. Now with over 3,000 hours. Simply one of the most amazing games ever. With an incredible team. Great video
This video is a must watch
3:36 what interface were they using at the time?!

Haha true xD
I suppose they built it on a template project, hence the FPS-shooter styled UI
Yeah mad props to the devs

THX!
How do you make these whiteboard like animations ? Like in 2:35?
I’m sorry, I thought I already replied to your previous comment, my apologies!
What I did is taking a top-down shot of Gridmap V2, increasing the contrast & adding some grain in Photoshop and then importing the image into my video editing software. You can obviously speed this up by just using a grid paper texture. Then I added the images and text for the animation and animated the position, rotation etc. Finally, I nested the clip and applied a 3d effect for a nicer look.
@@SkyFall4839 no worries, no need to excuse! :D

Just bought it recently. Beamng is better than all my childhood car games like need for speed, forza and paradise city and many more.
i remember paying rigs of rods on an hp laptop when i was younger, crazy to see how far they have come.
I had to do a presentation at school about the evolution of car safety back in I think 2015. The presentation was a flop but I lugged my PC to school and gave a live demo of BeamNG which impressed the teachers so much that they let me pass.
Great video as always, keep up the good work :)
And as always, thank you BeamNG developers! Almost got 2,000 hours on this game now

I am so
Proud to be an early member of the community, I started playing bmg drive in 2014 , back then it wasn’t even on steam and it cost 50 bucks
What really got me was learning that Ryan Anderson (Son-Uva-Digger) uses the MT mods to practice driving his actual truck in a full sim rig
After this video I actually want to work @beamng. Been making videos with that game for 8 years! Great video!
Wow that means a lot coming from you! Glad you enjoyed the video ;)
As I approach 1250 hours in this game, I have to take my hat off to your excellent video.
Also I giggled that we actually got a member of the devteam in the comments!
My favorite games are the ones where the community and dev team are respectful to each other and both are interested in the same thing: Making an awesome game.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Yeah haha, we got some devs in the comments :)
Man I remember seeing their first video regarding the cryengine3 and I had goosebumps from how beautiful their work was.
I swear these are the only game devs on earth that actually love their job, and you cant tell that by how amazing their work is ❤
hands down best car game dev ever, constant free updates and improvments, great response to community feedback, heaven sent devs with absoletely no complaints
I very love this developer makeing so much content hearing the community and make this game very fun and unique at same time
Its funny, back when I was poor and just looking for free games online, I found Rig of Rods in like 2011 and started seeing videos from Beamng and Wreckfest (next car game) in 2012/2013 and my mind being blown with soft body or just accurately simulated physics. I am glad that they are absolutely blowing up. Its almost unbelievable because I don't think anyone saw this coming
Awesome video, would love to have a look around the dev team. Seems like a great workplace.
i like to see old things not being thorwn away but redone like vr or as you said skyfall remote control
I never knew Rigs of rods went on to become Beam basically, I remember desert baja runs back in the day. Great video
I remember playing rigs of rods as a kid, it actually makes me very proud to see BeamNG today
They sure are quite unique in keeping a game in early-access for as long as possible
Gabester is my hero, did you know he makes music too?
Yes, I used some of his tracks in this video!
I only use gabester music in my videos❤
Now you're the Gabe Follower of Beamng.
I also wanna point out that the devs are young and breath new life into old workflows, I’m pretty sure they have an amazingly good communication system and plan system.
The devs go crazy. Pumping out actually good updates consistently, listening to there community. They are what all game devs should be.
remember that the devs have passions, just as much as the community wants something, the devs want to make things they like too. if they are passionate about offroading, don't get upset and think they've abandoned onroad driving, let them have fun, you can always suggest anything you want, but development takes much longer than ideating.
They definitely are my favorite dev team! I hope they add a more modern pickup and/or mustang/Camaro inspired car!
The fact they are involving the modding community so heavily into the game's development (hiring them, promoting their content, taking notes and collaborating, listening to input and actually using the input) says waves about how much the devs care about this game. More so, speaks volumes for where the game will go in the future.
Very true
The devs are kicking ass. I’d be hella stoked to one day see actual, exploding tires ,moving factory machinery and textures in and around factories , infotainment /Lua radio script for cars realistic weather. This game out does all the others hands down!
