      Look what you've done now, the price has jumped and the stock has nearly depleted.. 😤 Please, just stop reviewing nice watches!.. 😡
      Jokes aside, good thing I already have one and cannot recommend it more to anybody interested in a medium sized watch that wears even smaller. It is probably my precio.. I mean favorite watch overall. I'd say 180 to 200 it's where it's at.. (right now, the last piece seems to be going for £185 which by me it's a fair and very compelling price) One can not go wrong with this watch, period.

      Never really been a fan of Casio's mid-range watches. Not gonna deny my love for budget Casio's such as Casio royale but I still think that if you want to spend more then a 100 on a Casio then you should go all out and get a Casio Oceanus. Sure it's pricey at around 500 but the quality and the level of finishing is comparable to Rolex. For some people, they have lasted close to a decade and the most iconic thing about the titanium watches is that they are difficult to scratch. The scratches that most people have reported on their watches is mainly due to the links of the watch rubbing against each other. What a masterpiece for the price XD

    I was a North Sea Saturation Diver. We worked at depths exceding 400ft and sometimes - personaly - up to 1000ft. The big names in watch making :- Rolex, Omega etc built dive watches designed to be used at these depths, but they cost a fortune!! OK - we earned a load, but to be honest we didn't really need a watch! We were connected to the surface by Coms., so we just had to ask the time.
    What most divers used was the standard garage sale Casio Digital Watch. It was indestructable, accurate, back lit so you didn't disturb your chamber mates in sleep periods - and if you ever did break it, or more likely loose it, it cost less lhan £10 to replace. We actually never managed to destroy one in fair competion - IE having it on your wrist at 450ft while cutting pipe with oxy-electric equipment with the watch inside the pipe on your wrist! Amazing Watches !!

      I totally agree with your assessment of casio watches.
      I have a titanium model multi band 6 with a plastic lens.
      I wear it all the time on my right wrist and rotate my small collection of far more expensive watches on my left wrist.
      Frankly, it has all the others beaten on features for the princely sum of £112 (from Amazon about 2/3 years ago).
      Not a mark on the non safire crystal lens or the titanium body, but the bracelet (especially the clasp) has picked up quite a lot of scratches, but not deep enough to not polish out, if you're OCD.
      Fantastic value for money across the range.

Atomic radio sync for always perfect time, solar so no battery change hassles, titanium, sapphire crystal, lume and LED for checking in the dark, analog/digital with perpetual day/date until 2099, world time, alarm, timer, stopwatch. Also, has standard lugs so very easy to swap the bracelet for a different band. Not oversized or too thick. All for a very affordable price. I looked far and wide and this watch checks all my boxes, and is the best watch for me at any price. Cheers.

    I have the real numbers version. Solar powered, legible date, luminescent hands and numbers, light, and daily time sync. Took me ages to find a watch with everything, and this has it.

    • @Phanlix
      @Phanlix 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ones with the real numbers are often referred to as 'easy read' watches, after the classic timex easy reader which features large numbers. They're also known as 'arabic numeral watches' as most people don't know the classic 0-9 numbering system is actually arabic in origin.
      Anyways, I got the same version you did and couldn't be happier with it. I've never owned an all titanium watch before and it's definitely my favorite watch material for comfort. Stainless steel irritates my skin after a long day or if I sweat. Nylon and leather also are bad over time. Silicone is nice, but traps moisture on the skin and is too cheap looking. I'm too poor for gold/silver so I'm not sure of those. I can go days without taking it off even for sleep.
      It's a really beautiful watch in person too. The multicolor flare of the dial just does not show up on camera as well. It's a watch that both blends in well and pops under close inspection. Definitely my favorite watch, and my current every day watch. I only take it off when I'm switching to a beater when I'm doing dirtbiking or white water rafting. I'd say this watch could maybe even handle these activities, but then again I've destroyed a G-Shock before.

    Great review Ben, I have what I think are older versions of the watch that are still available if you look online. My titanium version is a LCW-M170TD-7AER with lume on the hands that looks similar but without the extended biceps between the pushers or that quick adjust bracelet (mine also has hollow end links). The case quality on mine is very good and the hands are as clean as a clean thing following a cleaning day. The functions all seem the same and it really is a cracking watch. I also have a 6 year old black stainless steel version LCW-M170DB-1AER (negative LCD) with lume on the hands and hour markers that apart from a couple of times about 4 years ago (it hadn't been worn for quite a while) with a second hand having a bit of a rest has been perfect for the last 3 years. Easy to re-align the hands though. Both watches have seconds hand perfectly matching the markers. Casio build quality is not only good but consistent as well.

    Nice. I have for many years been wearing a less expensive version of that watch. Same module and functions but plastic case clad with a stainless cover. Also mine has an acrylic crystal, but any scratches polish out easily. The Wave Captor functions flawlessly where I live in Texas, USA, but it was spotty traveling in California and didn't work at all in Northern Minnesota. While traveling it is also difficult to change time zones. Not really difficult once you have the manual in your hands but not intuitive. I especially liked using the countdown timer when cooking on the BBQ. Unfortunately the timer alarm burnt out. Now the tone is only audible if I hold the watch to my ear. I still wear the watch often but bought a less expensive Casio for cooking. I got a $19 Casio that also has moon phase and tide graph. I live near the Gulf of Mexico so that function is useful and fun. But setting up the tide graph is very difficult even with the user manual.

    I have owned one for around six years. The titanium case is beautifully light, the crystal face refuses to get even a single tiny scratch, the watch has always been correct to the second. Absolutely no problems.
    As a classic wristwatch it is perfect.
    There are better (and hugely more expensive) watches if you are more interested in jewellery than knowing the exact time.
    Apple watches also give you the exact time but they are in a different league in other ways.
    Which is best? Depends on what you want.

    I have an old Casio Wave Ceptor OCW 530 with a heavily beaten up glas. I bought that watch in 2006 I think for around 200€. It has 10atm, solar and radio. It has been on my wrist since then. It has been with me twice in Kosovo and in Afghanistan during my missions there as a soldier (German Army) and I still wear it today at work. Casio is really tough. Thanks for that review, I ordered that LCW-M100DSE-1AER. 10 ATM would be better but stainless steel, spahire glas, solar and radio for that price is awesome.

    Nice review. I have a LCW-M170TD-7AER (bought five years ago) which is quite similar and it's a fantastic watch. Concerning the 8 min charging time, it's the time you need to expose the watch to sunlight per day to keep it's battery "afloat". To charge it fully it take way longer. It can still be charge by indirect sunglight and even indoor lights! I have a watch which is quite similar in terms of feature but has no digital screen. It's not in catalog anymore, i think it didn't even stay for sale more than 2 years.

The Casio has been amazingly tough, I have never been able to keep a watch glass scratch free for as long as this one, even accidental drops onto tile floor or brushing a brick wall didn't scratch the sapphire lens. YES, YES and YES! It's not maybe the greatest watch ever, regarding design and finishing, but it certainly is *THE BEST* watch ever produced. PERIOD.
    I have the older version made of stainless steel and mineral crystal, and this titanium/sapphire one I'm planning to buy. You just need to purchase it, fiddle for a bit with functions, initiate radio control function to wind it up... and then just forget any hassle with time, because it will correct itself once in every 24h.
    And it never loses battery power! I'm confident it can last for decades, until at one point of time the battery will wear off... but who knows when that will be.
    The only problem is that sometimes it's so perfect and so persistent, that it can become boring. And I'm not kidding. LOL
    This watch is the only watch you'll ever need... and did I mention it's better than all watches ever produced, combined? No? Well, it is. PERIOD.

    I bought one in 2020, when my vintage Citizen required service and the shop closed during Covid. I share your enthousiasm, this is an amazing value, and a real beauty as well. I would like to mention two minor gripes, though: The stop-watch only counts up to 1h and does not have split times; I have to use another watch (a Casio as well) when I go for a run. I travel a lot, and I really like the world timer for that reason. But there are some regions in the world - even within Europe - where the watch will not capture a time signal. However, it does indicate that clearly, and the quartz movement is precise enough to remain on time for several weeks without a time signal - just make sure to adjust for daylight savings time, should you be too far away from a time transmitter when they make the switch.

    • @marais75012
      @marais75012 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I found an issue with this watch: If you're on a trip and use the World Timer to display local time, and keep the analog dial displaying time in your home zone, the watch will continue to try to sync with the time signal of your home zone, which will obviously not work. You have to change the home zone to your destination to have it sync, but for me, that defeats the whole point of the world timer: For short trips I do not want to mess with the home zone setting. But then again, you might say that you can live without a sync for a few days (or weeks).

    The Wave-ceptor was the previous version (10bar WR) which i have had for almost 11 years. Buttons don't work (gunked up) and the bezel crown fell off. But it keeps accurate time and solar works. Part of the "case roughness" is because it is machined titanium, which is notoriously hard to machine and to make it look clean.

    I bought this watch few years ago. While I agree with all you have said, there is a point to be made about lack of hard coating. Titanium is actually rather soft metal and will scratch easily, unless coated or surface hardened. This one has neither and will scratch much faster than steel watches do.

    • @davidashton2361
      @davidashton2361 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with your comment about titanium, but I recently saw an article about this metal and apparently there are two distinct mixtures with it as far as watch construction is concerned.
      One is very soft but very resistant to corrosion etc and the other is much harder but prone to corrosion.
      I have a small watch collection with some in titanium. The very early titanium watch of some 20 odd years ago picked up a lot of scratches and the more recent one is with super titanium (as Citizen call it) is unmarked even after having been worn for an extended period.

      It is fantastic but it doesn't have any form of anti scratch coating and neither does the latest models, as far as I'm aware.
      Even so it's the best watch I have ever owned.
      Citizen, and I have a few of them, started their titanium watches without any hardening process and suffered with the same problem until they brought out the 'super titanium' models. This has made them very scratch resistant.
      I have an early skyhawk titanium model and an f900 super titanium model, as I said and the difference is remarkable.

    This watch comes in both steel and titanium forms. The LCW-M100TSE models are titanium, the LCW-M100DSE (sometimes listed as LCW-M100D sometimes) is stainless steel, and also does not have a sapphire crystal.
    The naming isn't as difficult as you mention. This watch is the LCW-M100TSE-1AER. Remember, Lineage are not officially sold in much of the world, so importers are responsible for much of the inconsistent naming. Lineage has been around in some form for over 20 years. Wave Ceptor is Casio's brand name for radio atomic technology, and they have a line of watches that features it also called Wave Ceptor, these are sold more widely. Lineage is a more premium line from Casio that features full metal cases, Wave Ceptor technology, and Tough Solar, and more. Tough Solar is Casio's brand name for their premium solar watch technology, akin to "eco-drive". Wave Ceptor technology is also in many Pro Trek and G-Shock watches. Multi Band 6 means it works with all 6 radio atomic stations.
    Casio has a fantastic naming convention, better than any other watch brand. Instead of memorizing reference numbers you can tell a lot from just the name. From the name alone I know that this watch is part of the Lineage line, is an ana-digi model, features Wavecepter technology with Multiband. I also know that this particular colorway features titanium, is black, and yours is specifically sold in Europe.
    Drop the model suffix (1AER) and you can easily search for the watch and all of its colorways. Sometimes it's hard for other brands to easily find all the "related" watches. It's probably safe to leave off the "ER" or other region codes too, because this same identical watch may be sold in other regions with a different region code, but all that differs is the tag and packaging. So this watch is probably best referred to as the "LCW-M100TSE-1A".
    And last - great review! Great watch!

    I like the direction they're going with the quick-adjust bracelet, but I also wonder if it would be more likely to break if it got snagged on something. (Maybe that's a good thing.)

    What I think is the most remarkable feature of this watch - which is in most cases even not matched by watches ten times its price - is the perfect and automatically adjusted alignment of the hands to the indicators. Just look at that and be amazed. I haven't yet found any other quartz watch under 1,000 € which does that. Add the sapphire crystal, the eco-drive and all the functions over the display, and you have one of the most reasonable, versatile, accurate and refined watches for under 500 €. It's only drawback is the limited water resistance.

    Casio make some quality watches and are, I think, highly underrated. Casio can do for £200 what Tag Heuer cannot do for £1200 (make a watch where the second hand hits the markers!) and, in terms of features, functionality, and build quality, for quartz watches the Japanese brands in general leave the Swiss far behind. This one looks really classy and, although they're (quite a bit) more expensive still, reminds me a bit of the Oceanus series they do. I know you don't really do the cool wall any more (shame, because the Archie clip always made me smile) but this one is damn near ice cold. The only thing that really hurts it are the case finishing issues you highlighted, but that might be a nitpick: I think titanium may be harder to work with than steel. My only other benchmark here is a Seiko SKX than I paid similar money for a few years back (the case finishing is bang on, and so is the dial and chapter ring which is almost surprising, but the hour hand alignment is a bit gimpy). Great video - enjoying all these Casio reviews!

      Check out the case finish on a Huwaei watch 4 Pro titanium, I'd like to see how they machine them because it's flawless.
