The AMD RX 470 is a gaming graphics card that has some age to it now, but we think it is still a great deal! If you can score one of these GPU’s for around $30 - $60 then you have a graphics card that’s capable of 1080P lower settings gaming on the cheap!

This is why I love this channel. You have LTT building a 128 core mega server with 18 RTX 4090s in a chassis made of titanium like anyone can relate to that, then you have the practical advise for the average guy like me.
@imnotx0 they have some decent videos on budget builds
Im still cruising on an RX580.
I use a r7 350X (i have a 5700XT Red devil sitting on my desk)

Love that card. I use the XFX 580 8gb on all my 1080p budget bills
Still rocking an RX 580 8 gig Highly recommend still really good
me too
it's a little beast. fell back on this when GPU prices were at all time highs
Finally, they made a video on the BEST consistent graphics card deal that I've ever seen.
For just over $115 shipped I picked up a 6 GB 5600 XT which is a solid 40% faster than this card for 1080 P medium to high settings. It’s still getting it done he’s right you don’t need the latest greatest.
Same but I bought mine in August of last year for $145. Plays every game I want at 2560x1080 @60fps
Picked up a ELSA 5700 for around that much, OC'ed it & now it's close to a 5700XT level of performance!
40% performance increase for almost 300% the price. Not to mention, you should pair it with a beefier cpu and psu. If you do not have the money, it is not an option. As always, the boring sentiment is price to performance. And most of all, your needs - why bother spending 2-3 times the money if you only play lighter games?
Edit: Sorry, was not thorough enough and on first read I had the feeling, you suggest buying the 5600XT instead. To own my mistake, but still stand by what I just wrote, I'll leave the comment here (:
uhhh used or new?

I'm diggin' the new intros you guys use in your videos
That "ms" number next to the FPS it is frametime, which means how much time takes to render a frame, it is way different than the concept of latency.
The MS mean milliseconds and its literally a measurement of frame latency or the time between frames being rendered, don't overcomplicate things in your head because you "built a few computers. 😂
it is a form of latency that contributes to overall latency
@@GoonyMclinux no, ms is miliseconds for frametime. but then again, latency is calculated from frametime. sooooo
Im surprised to see how well this gpu performs in warzone 2,im running a ryzen 5 1600AF, 16gb ram 3200mhz and Geforce rtx 2080 super gaming x trio and im barely getting 70 fps in warzone 2 with Basic preset sometimes even below 60fps with alot of stuttering. Great video guys, keep up the good work....All the way from South Africa😂
its because they are using FSR in performance mode, which absolutely give you a boost in fps, but makes the game look very blurry, and somewhat unplayable, especially at 1080p.
How? My 5600x and RTX 2070 combo gets over 100FPS on balanced
you probably need a better cpu
@@Km-ot4qf because you have a better cpu dude...even he have 2080 super..i dont think his gpu can be full utilize with that cpu
I used to have the RX 570 which now I gave to a family member! Still a nice card!
That card runs fine with 6 pin power.
That's right, you don't need to plug in all 8 pins, it'll run no problem from 6 pin pcie power.
Crazy thing is the 680m Zen 3 igpu at 80 watts runs Cyberpunk at 1080p low n fsr quality at 60+fps,tech really has come a long way
Excellent GPU, built first PC for my daughter, with this GPU. We play online games, LAN games. It's a steal honestly, I would recommend this one as a PlayStation 4 substitute lol!
this channel is becoming one of my favorites 😀😃
I’ve missed these guys so much😭. Can’t wait to binge 4 months worth of toasty bros content 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
R3 3100 is 40$ used that’d be a nice match up
I found a box of these in a pallet auction that were the MSI Armor edition. The weird thing is that they seem to run lower core clocks. They WILL support 2 monitors if you buy an HDMI Adapter and a seperate HDMI Splitter. Make sure to get one that is like 4k 60hz so you can still upscale on older titles. Buy a DVI to hdmi adapter, connect the splitter and connect it to power (if required) connect both of your hdmi monitor cables to it and you are off to the races. if windows give you an exact copy of your desktop go into the settings and fiddle with the "Expend this display options"
Can we have this GPU test again with reasonable hardware?
Absolutely nobody is pairing this with an R7 5700x and 32gb of RAM.
Maybe an R5 3600 and 16gb would be better.
Yeah, i get the bottleneck argument but it's completely unrealistic here as anyone looking at a $40 isn't likely to have a 5700x and 32gb.
I miss the RX-470 so much. It was the GPU of my first ever PC I bought back in January 2017 & now in 2023 I use an RTX-3060.
I have an 8GB 470, and am trying to decide about upgrading. I already moved to an NVMe SSD this year and moved up from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 7 5700x and went from 16 to 32GB on my B450 motherboard. My monitor does 1080p and 75 mHz. The main drivers is that Hogwart's Legacy has a bizarre issue around water and it pollutes the display any time you get near water. Any thoughts? My other question, other than bragging rights and fear of missing out, if I am a casual gamer, why do I care about 300 frames per second?
Ebay a used 5600xt $120 solid 40% upgrade sell your old card for $50
Thanks!
Two month ago I got a RX 480 8GB Red Devil for 70€ and best part, it was his first GPU he bought new back than and just finally upgraded (was also selling his old 144Hz monitor). He said he never changed the thermal paste and it wasn´t completly dried up, sugesting he was taking care as well of his hardware as the rest of his extremly clean and tidy appartement. But changing thermal paste did reduce temps by 8°C and OC still works as it should, but I rather save energy instead of having those 3-4 extra frames, not worth it using 30% more power in gaming. Not really interested in those new AAA games, indy games and older ones run just fine and are more fun.
Still rocking the og RX 580 8gb (XFX) lessgo
loved this! can you do a video on the RX 580 2048SP? still super capable but people hate it a lot for some reason!
I picked up one of those a few months ago for $47( standard, not mining) i use it on my work pc
I lied to myself when building my 5800X3D - 4090 PC that I'd play all of these high refresh 4k AAA games. Aaaannd I still play just league and overwatch. lol
I have a 5800X3D as well, but a 6900XT was as much graphics card as I can justify right now. I play a few older games like Skyrim and Fallout 4, but I'm also playing "Plagues Tale" and can't wait for "Starfield." Having decent horsepower is nice. Still, for those who can't, this is great.
That's not a fair CPU for Rx 470.Most users are having much older CPUs.
I'm still on a 4GB RX 570 Nitro+ Edition. Looking to save up for a 6700 or a 6700 XT.
Paid $15 from a XFX version with a broken fan last week. Great card for the money, not sure if I will replace the fan or get creative with the cooling.
My GPU that I've still been using for 6 years, paired with Ryzen 5 1600. Will upgrade to 7800 XT tough (since AMD is pulling driver support from old polaris cards), the current long term mid-range gpu
I have a RX 480 in my file server...where it has nothing to really do. 😁 I've never had to live with a budget build, but it's good to see that you CAN. It's good for PC Gaming.
then some (not all)other youtubers say that oh you need this new card oh this card is bullsh*t oh this they criticise smaller gpu's just to make you buy the new ones a gpu should not be really expensive like i have a 1660ti but others say that its bad and won't get you a good perfomance NO these smaller gpu's are great its just them pushing us to newer ones to be more relevant
dam im watching this 1 year later
your math skills are impressive sir
They talking about saving money, but the rest of the pc is fuckin top of the line shit lol.
Honestly, I think 1080p is the sweet spot for gaming...a very good balance of performance and graphics...I think this is on par with my RX6400 for performance...it won't run AAA titles, but it does very well for what I play...and I'm pretty sure the lag I've encountered is CPU bottlenecking
Agreed.
You should oc your card, and use fsr, than you can play AAA titles on 1080p. Ofc you wont get the newest AAA titles on 1080p 60fps ultra, but you can enjoy games like red dead redemption 2 even on 30-40fps, bc that has a slow gameplay.

Hi form PH.
Where do you buy gpu in PH? PCEXPRESS?
Hey, I'm thinking about buying the acer nitro 50 pc, can you buy it and review it for me please? I want to know if it is good or not.
this is a pretty good card but I'd recommend the 8 GB version because that extra 4 gb of vram will help with newer games if you decide to play newer games it's about $65 and a lot of the time the 8gb models have more than just one output
Would this fit in a Dell Optiplex 7050 sff?
I put this in a HP pavilion and it works GREAT! Star wars battlefront at 70 fps and Fortnite at 85
Why aren't these for sale on amazon, even in a 8gb spec? I am a little frightened by a ebay extremely old graphics card purchase. On another note is refurbishing a gpu a thing (for someone who is sorta tech savvy and doesn't have special tools)? The Toasties, aren't in the business maybe of making a reliable pc. Price and performance is the only goal it seems.
Got my rx 6600 on sale for 170 and I love it
The problem is not the DVI, it's the 4 gb of VRAM.
I just upgraded to a gtx 1660 super from a GTX 1650 gddr6 idk why but I did
Should I buy mining rx 580 8gb ?
Lets say i buy just a ASUS Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and plug my dp to dp into it i can run games with no promble? if it even helps to answer this i have an 1440p omen gaming moniter 240hz
I just grabbed one of these from my local goodwill computer store for 15 bucks.
So mw2 dukes all over this card right? I ask because im 20 seconds deep and desperatly looking for a sub 200 us gpu that plays mw2 well at 1080
Yo, Toasty Bros! Ever thought of selling
dvi to hdmi adapter is like 10USD
and again some say oooh you need more than 8gb vram to play at smooth fps yes they are correct if you are playing on higher setting but you can just lower your settings with a lower gpu PS* you don't need above 8gigs of vram for gaming that's what they say to push agenda of new gpu's
Good Video. I still have a GTX 970, i don't know if the switch is worth it.
Well you only have 3.5 gig vram because 512mb is not available to the card so a true 4gb card would be an upgrade
wait why doesnt it have an hdmi?
R9 390X OC is pretty similar to this card and I got my 390x for 90€ back in 2018
Im a fan of 300 series but they consume quite a lot of power though and thus will need more powerful PSUs

4070 is a whole scam
at least get urself the ti version
@@blanchardhvh The 4070 is a world away in terms of performance compared to the card in this video. The 4070 is sold as a GPU that can play games, and that it is what is does. That does not constitute a scam.
The only downside of it is the price. Something being expensive is not what scam means.
@@Safetytrousers sure your point is right but you could get away with a way better price to performance ratio with amd cards or even a used nvidia 30 gen. the only good thing about the 4070 is the wattage. its really really low compared to its performance.
@@blanchardhvh I'm arguing about language, not the value of the 4060ti at its current price.
Yeah, but nobody will pair a rx470 with an Ryzen 7 5700x. It is not a budget build we are talking about. Results you are showing depend more then 50% on the CPU. Realistic will be to pair it with an older cpu, lets say quad core i5 or i7 or ryzen 1st 2nd gen. You get then very different results from the rx470 on 2023 games. But your point is somehow valiable
guys i have a question.
brand new rx 6600 for 220 usd or secondhand at 160 usd ?
Check if it’s a trustable seller and check for and physical damage. If you see anything sketchy go for the new one.

Also I don’t like how you guys have an expensive test bench with a cheap card most people will just invest the money in their gpu with a 700 dollar test bench
Nope, I couldn't recommend this card solely based on having a single DVI port. The RX 580 2048 8GB is still a WAY better option than this, even at $95 on Amazon. HDMI/DP ports are kinda important today. I just picked one up to build my kid a SteamOS box and it does a fantastic job. 4GB / DVI & no multi monitor support makes this a hard pass.
I'd say spend another $40 and get an RX 570/580 at least.
