Just a FYI, I did a sublimation directly on a bamboo laminated cutting board by sanding the factory finish off and applying directly to the wood, then applying a sealant afterward. The ink penetrated very nicely. I have an Epson ET2803, started new with Hiipoo Sublimation ink (they sell it with the correct fittings to fill the ET tanks), A-sub paper and a Vevor 5-in-1 heat press. No prep coating was used.
Can I spray the coating on a peice of wood that has been stained and sealed after its dryed? Or for example a lazy susan from the store already in a darker stain color?

Yes, please show us how to make individual folders. This was a great video. I just bought some 10” round wood circles to sublimate some signs and said to myself I will have to look for a you tube on how to sublimate on wood and up popped your video. 🎉
Thanks for the info! I'm just getting into sublimation and wanting to use it for my wood working projects. I'm assuming I can put a coat of polyurethane over this for protection for outdoors use right? For corn hole boards and things like that.
TY I have had my Sawgrass Printer for almost three weeks! It didn't come with any instructions! I did manager to in stall the ink, but that is all!! can you help? TY
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! Just curious, when you "cured" the wood, I know you did this with your heat press, but if we do it in the "oven" do we need to be concerned about any fumes? Just wondering, what I'm getting my family, and pets, involved in with any "chemicals" OR Should I consider finding a way to do something like that outside?
I have done a wood round with sublimation and a laminate sheet and the print is great. However, the round is warped. What did I do wrong? Temperature was 380 for 30 seconds pressure was medium at a 5. Was the pressure too much, the temperature too high, the time too long. I'm confused. I have watched all the videos and none seemed to have this problem. Help please!!!
This is fabulous! I love the added tutorial on how to split the southwest image - It helped soothe my feeling like I'm "missing out" by not having a 13 x 19 printer, haha. I'm thinking the Subli Glaze is going to be the way I go. Just to double check, because I would LOVE to be able to knock out two different projects with one product... Would the Subli Glaze be suitable to sublimate onto wall art canvases as well?
@@kevinandpennylct2415, yes. A very thin layer of Minwax Sanding Sealer on wood, let it dry for 12-24 hours and then sublimated on that. I have had success on all my project with this.
Hi and thanks so much for the video. New to this so I apologize if my question sounds silly- I’ve seen sublimated items that look like they are laminated- super glossy. Is that UV DTF or is there glossy sublimation paper for that?
Yes you can! It is possible to paint wood and then apply a sublimation coating on top, but the results may vary depending on the type of paint and coating used. It is essential to use a paint that can withstand high temperatures, as the sublimation process typically involves heating the substrate to high temperatures (around 400F). Additionally, the paint should be completely dry and cured before applying the sublimation coating, as any moisture or solvents in the paint can affect the adhesion and curing of the coating. - Agata
We are working on more sublimation videos, so we can certainly add this to our list! We have an older epson video if that helps: th-cam.com/video/cEdeXdHh8lg/w-d-xo.html - Dawn 🙂

Hi John. Hairspray may be used as a temporary fixative for sublimation inks, but it is not specifically designed for that purpose and may not provide consistent or long-lasting results. It is typically recommended to use a specialized sublimation coating or pretreatment solution, which is specifically formulated to work with sublimation inks and provide optimal results. - Agata
I have used Rave in the pump bottle to sub on TP. It works fine. Just lower the temp a tad so the hairspray will not scorch. Since TPis make from wood I sure would try it.
You could use a graduated oral medicine dropper or syringe found in any drugstore for the activator. Loved your project. Can you use an easy press for wood sublimation?
Hi Joanne! That is a great idea! It is possible to use an Easy Press for wood sublimation, but it may require some adjustments to the settings and techniques used. Make sure the temperature is high enough and you put enough pressure while sublimating. - Agata
Have you ever tried to paint the wood white & then use polycrylic? I’m trying to do photos on 4x4 pieces of wood & I’m not crazy about the wood color showing through. I may have to revert to tiles!
It is a good tutorial however, you do not practice what you preach. You tell everyone to take safety precautions wear mask, gloves and well ventilated area but you demonstrate without using the precautions.

Thank you for another great tutorial! I would love to see one on creating the different folders.
After doing this can the wood be cut with a printer. Like for a puzzle?
Is there a way to paint the wood white, then add the subliglaze? Or is there a product that does both in one step?
There is one that has a white coating subliglaze
I love the SW round!

Does anyone know how colorfast the results are? If I use outdoors, will it last?
