    The car prices in Malaysia are more expensive than UK, however, petrol, road tax and insurance way a lot cheaper than UK. The petrol/diesel highly subsidized by the government hence the price one of the lowest in the world.

      Lucky for the cheaper petrol a db diesel! For everyone’s reference, and maybe those living in Hong Kong already know, the petrol is among the most expensive in the world. Just yesterday it was about $3.20US per litre. Some living in outer suburbs travel 60km + a day. Costs point up pretty quickly. That might not seem much for overseas folk but it’s a fair distance in Hong Kong. Thanks for your comments!

      Subsidy will be gradually reduced soon. Not sure how it will affect inflation though since we are used to subsidised fuel all our lives.

    • @PressStartLiving
      @PressStartLiving  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@keangwooichoo6138 why are they taking back the subsidies? I heard for some places it’s to get ready for the hope that most people convert to electric cars.. is that a reason they are giving?

    • @keangwooichoo6138
      @keangwooichoo6138 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PressStartLiving the subsidy enables the rich people with more cars to enjoy it. So they will give rebates to the lower class and middle class using fuel. Fleet cars will also enjoy the rebate so that people taking grab or taxis will not be burdened.
      Last year, malaysia spent 81b ringgit for fuel subsidy. 13.5b pounds.

      @@keangwooichoo6138 the timing for reducing subsidies… there’s never a good time for that! It’s going to be painful for many when they kick in then. Thanks for sharing, this news is very recent and I hope you guys fair ok with the increased prices. The amount of money the government spent on fuel subsidies is mind boggling and no wonder they need to find ways to reduce it. I read they plan to do the subsidy reduction in small steps over a longer period of time, I hope that makes it easier to swallow. and you mentioned inflation might be affected , I’ve experienced prices of everything going up in like the space of a year but my salary stayed the same, then the next year it went more and I still didn’t get any salary adjustment.. I think lots of people are going to have similar story to that. Let’s hope it’s not really sudden and fast. As a result of that experience I’m more frugal generally now with spending. It’s become a lifestyle of watching the spending and not buying things unless I need it.

    Air quality, I think KL is better. With clear blue sky due to clean air, the sun ray fully penetrate to the ground. The rain reduces the air pollution particles. Polluted air reduces the sun ray reaching to ground.

      For those countries with riches displayed there, it is unfortunate. These governments continue to ‘request’ their return to the original owner.

    Groceries in Malaysia are not necessarily cheaper than the UK. Dining in the shopping centre is getting expensive in Malaysia. Traffic jam is intense almost not liveable.

    • @PressStartLiving
      @PressStartLiving  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Things are getting more expensive, the rate may be at around 2.67% (www.statista.com) for 2024, which may not sound like much. But when it applies to all of your daily living items then you really feel it. Shopping centres may well raise their prices well above this percentage. I’ve heard traffic can be a nightmare sometimes and depending which area you are in. Thanks a lot for your comments to paint a fuller picture of our life in Asia!

      I lived in Australia and they have many immigrants too! Australia’s strength is in its diversity so the locals on the most part embrace the multicultural nature of the people mix.
