I play the biggest ultra lights. As a player thats miss is a 4000 mph snap hook, these grips eliminated that in half a range session. The biggest thing I noticed from switching to these is that my hands will not fatigue no matter how many balls I hit. They have been a life changer.

I have been using the smaller size jumbo grips for the past year Dri-tec LTE over size with 5 tapes be, a huge fan. The iron shots are dead aim so happy there, Big change is longer sticks, Driver, FW woods and hybrid. To make a green in regulation from 220 yards out is very satisfying. I could not go back to normal grips now. I did not want tp pass 55gram on grip weight to avoid messing up my swing weight.

I started with the STR8 Ultralite in the XS size for the driver but I find the STR8 Tour XS at 83gm a better fit due to the -slight- counter balancing and allowing me to increase the MOI in my Stealth2+ driver. Right now it's at D0 swing weight. However, I am switching to the STR8 Wrap XS because I am just wearing out the top of the grip with my right thumb. I guess I have too much movement there. However, I think the real strength of these JumboMax grips are with the chipping and pitching wedges, the larger size seem to give me more control of the wedge head for those delicate shots - dunked many chips for Eagles and Birds and a ton of Par saves. Nice on JumboMax and also GR8 testing video EFG 👍👍👍 ps always use air to blow these grips on or off, never solvent/tape

Neutral or weaker grip? I never slice with my jumbomax on my driver but I sometimes fight a duck hook with it. All other clubs are standard grips, I have a neutral grip sometimes a little weak and still fight a left miss, what would you suggest? Irons and wedges is straight/fade bias

I have played midsize grips in recent years and they definitely fit me better than standard grips, I recently hit a friend's club which had a JumboMax Standard Jumbo grip and it felt really good and most of my shots were really straight, this grip was only slightly larger than the midsize grips which I am currently playing so I may now buy one and test it out properly.

I have the large wrap JM grip on my driver. The wraps are a little less expensive and don't have a seem down them like the tour series does. I have a tendency to turn over the wrist too much and hook the ball and the large helps prevent some of that. I have the tour series SJ on my fairway woods. Irons I just have some regular mid size that aren't JM. Though I have used the tour series SJ size on other sets of irons before. I have arthritis in my hands and tried them for that reason.

I have been playing the Jumbo Max for about a year now. Tested both the Tour Series and Ultralite (with Jumbo Max's two grip trial offer) before settling on a which to game. I chose the Ultralite Extra Small (XS) in the end and have been playing it ever since. My initial Grip selector experience had me in the Medium size, didn't feel right with the medium, went back to the selector and it put me in the small size, played small for a few rounds and things still were not feeling right. So, went back to the selector and by changing grip pressure on the selector came up with a recommended size of XS. Things clicked and I installed the XS Ultralite on all 13 clubs. Needed a little work with the wedges to get comfortable, but am comfortable at this time. I had elbow problems with standard grips and needed elbow supports (straps) on each elbow. With the Jumbo Max grips, those problems have completely been eliminated. I recommended the Jumbo Max to my brother, whose elbow problems were so bad he stopped playing golf for several months. After physical therapy, he resumed playing with the Jumbo Max grips. He has not had any elbow problems to date. I adapted to the grips rather quickly. If you game more than a couple Jumbo Max Grips a standard size golf bag (Carry Bag) is a problem for getting clubs into and out of the bag. I ended up getting a bigger bag. The grips have held up well. I play 100+ rounds a year and have not replaced a grip yet for wear. I have changed grips in the past on a regular basis, usually yearly just because of wear and slickness. I was gaming the Winn Dri-Tec previously and changed the Driver grip every 3 mos and the rest every 6 mos due to wear. The Ultralite label only applies to the Jumbo Max grips as the weight is close to the weight of a standard golf grip, their Tour Series grips weigh around 40-50 gms more than a standard golf grip. Retief Goosen plays the Tour Series grips on the Champions Tour. I tired to get him talking about them at a Champions Tour event, but he didn't have much to say.

I have been using Jumbo XL Ultralite for years, I have biggish hands and some arthritis, I couldn't play without these grips, only downside is they wear out VERY quickly. Never understood the oft repeated argument about the larger grip restricting wrist movement. Try moving your hand open and try moving it in a fist, it has a much greater range of motion when open. If you want to get someone to release their grip on an object, you bend their wrist, it opens the hand, so I would argue the opposite is true!

Been indoor with the Jumbo Max Medium on all clubs. What i really like is that there isn't any wiggling around in my hand, standard golf grips do not make sense to me after using these. If anything it will shorten your swing a little and for me anyway, i found it easier to hit a draw where as before with standard size if i try to hit a draw it would just be a snap hook. If you have a hook, i think it's a no-brainer. If you want to hit fades, just don't try to draw it, and for me anyway it's more of a cut if i just leave the face open.

Interesting test…It’s really hard to tell without more detailed testing exactly what causes the changes/improvement…is it the size, the weight, or both? You didn’t really post what the relative weights were to the standard grip he normally uses (standard tour velvet at 49.5g?), unless I missed it. I think the best way to do the test is once you find the one that is the best, compare it to your standard grip and make the weights the same in order to normalize them and take weight out of it to see if it’s the size that is the cause of the improvement…

Swingweight with the original grip is D3 and will now be approximately D5 with the 10g lighter grip. Should I add 10g counter weights at the top of the shaft to compensate for the grip difference? This will make the total weight the same as before so its not just making the club heavier but not sure if its worth the effort.

    • @EFGMC

Ideally I would want him to try it both ways to see what is better for him. Going to larger oversize grips I find can sometimes negate the heavy head feel for some reason. Many thanks,I tested today and same feeling I founded at C8 in a driver C7 in my 4 wood and C6 in my 2 hybrids 22° & 28° ... tomorrow I will assembly a irons, with PXG clubs are easy because the screw weight are easy to change.

I did their test and tried the recommended grip (I believe it was their jumbo size - I normally ply standard +4 or medium)…hated it…tried it again a year or so later due to “new data” apparently supporting their claim…same result…it was terrible for me…can’t feel the club head at all…

Did you blow all of those on and off to test? I'd LOVE to do this test because I picked the mediums just based on the quiz online but that doesn't mean anything. Can't find anyone to do that test locally.

@@MrOioi1989 The grips will stay on without any tape of any kind. We use masking tape with air install to size the grip where we want it. Some grips will work better with air than others though. Softer rubber grips work best.

Folks, how do u guys 'test' the type of grips u want to switch to? cannot imagine changing to one type, test them the next day (needs time to dry), then chg to another type, wait another day, test again, and keep on looping .....isn't that kinna time consuming, not to mention costs to replace and by the end u probably would like to retry some of the previous grips tooo.

His irons are really head heavy because of extra length so not surprising he likes to have more head feel. That said, he hit both weights in that size well.

The ultralights will basically leave the swingweight pretty close to original. The heavy ones will really lower the swingweight significantly. I guess useful to balance a really light shaft back to a playable swingweight?

I say be careful. I had a fitter insist on me going up to a midsize. It felt good at the beginning but over time I realized it was a mistake. I’m much more comfortable with standard and three wraps. It feels much smaller to me than the midsize and I’m way more in control of my speed and consistency. For reference I’m a more cadet size in my fingers with longish middle fingers. You have to test big time to get it right and it’s extremely important for consistency. Length of your clubs is right up there too. I tend to be an in between size person with everything. I can’t express enough how important it is to get it right.

Bigger grips RESTRICT wrist action - therefore is one has issues with hooking (a lucky one) then the thicker grips are definitely going to help them, but for the 90% of weekend hackers, who overpower the club with their right hand, the thicker grips are absolute disaster!

Here’s my take on it. I’m 6’5” and muscular, slightly larger hand size. I installed heavier weights in all 4 of my drivers to improve M.O.I so I’m going to try the heavier Tour M D size and see if it can balance out the now heavier heads. But until my rotator cuff surgery is completely healed I can’t yet swing to see the results. But I’m hopeful.
