  • In 2017, Bremont introduced its new diver, the Supermarine S301. At 40mm and adorned with tidy little details, it presents a budget entry to the premium dive watch market at a little under £3,000. It’s a fine watch, if that’s what you want, well-built and well-spec’d. But what’s that got to do with the Tudor Black Bay 58?

I still love the Milgauss but the black bay just does something for me that the Milgauss can't. My only gripe is the bracelet, it isn't as comfortable as the Rolex bracelet. Most enjoyable video. Had the Tudor in my hand a couple of days ago. It is a stunner. In my view, Tudor have smashed it out of the park with the whole Black Bay range. (So much so that the early models with the ETA 2824 are considered collectable.) Bremont's marketing story has been very seductive but I'd suggest that
Tudor's BB range has completely and utterly seduced the watch world. Side by side the Tudor is easily the more beautiful.

Or you could just do what I did 14 years ago and buy yourself a Seiko Flightmaster, the original SNA model. Mine the rare 413 blue, white and red version, but the black 411 will certainly turn heads. I think maybe I'd like one of those. As for this review, way too many silly comparisons. The so called better watch falls 100 metres short of it's rival. Let's talk about that. But more importantly, why with your smooth silky voice are you promoting Tutor? Still getting some of that Rolex "love money". Take my word for it, and I know most of you won't. Get the fuck out while you can. These folks are hoping to hell you buy into their BS and purchase this product on the hope it appreciates but it won't, so that they have a new avenue with which to sell used watches. Tudor's will suddenly be worth much more than you paid for them. Want to know the long and short of it? If the mechanical watch market ever fails, your purchase will be essentially worthless. In the short term, they never actually have the popularity that the Rolex brand has and thus don't really appreciate.

@@jeeefthegreat7555 Well let's try to not be subjective shall we. In the age, when watch craft began to rise in popularity and big complicated watches were all the rage. The Breitling Navi was the king of watches to have. It dominanted the marketplace. Knowing that I could never afford one but still being a fan of the complicated flight style I instantly became attracted to the Flightmaster. No other watch displayed the same presence. Granted $600 at the time was a lot more than just about anyone else was prepared to pay for a wrist watch. A pretty penny in 2003. I bought mine for full MSRP $575cdn plus tax off a dealer. And yes, after over a dozen years on my wrist I am very happy to conclude, it is ever the conversation piece among watch enthusiasts and more importantly, just about everyone else thinks it's the bomb. Being a genuine watch enthusiast yourself, you know my SNA 413 blue and white panda dial Flightmaster is pretty much the stuff of dreams regardless of price. There are probably more Rolex Daytona's available for sale at any given time than there are Blue, White 413 Flightmaster's. That's a fact.

The Tudor is fine if you can live with the snowflake hour hand, but I can't. The Tudor has an aluminium bezel... at that price it really should be brushed ceramic. How about servicing and parts costs (could be about even)? Bremont make about 8,000 watches a year. How many do Tudor make, 100,000/year, 200,000k per year or more. For rarity and exclusivity Bremont wins hands down. I don't know if Watchfinder has ever covered a Christopher Ward but they have their own in house movement too (I'm going to duck for cover now I've mentioned CW). Personally of the two I'd go for the Bremont because it just looks better and that Trip-Tick case is amazing.

Especially the size! And the looks BUT BUT BUT I am one of those weird types that isnt too Big on rolex and Tudor and I never felt this connection to tHe BB58..
I loved everything about the watch but I simply love the brands of Omega and Zenith more..
I have studied brand marketing and how it affects the consumer to buy this brand instead of the other brand..
For instance I prefer Adidas over Nike.
And I prefer Omega and Zenith more than Rolex/Tudor because Hans Wildorf wasnt a watchmaker but a businessman where omega and zenith for instance was a product of true watchmaking in some sort of way..
I have just decided I’m these past few weeks that my collection should only have these watches :
Zenith defy classic with blue dial and blue rubber strap.
    Zenith el primero 1969
    Omega speedmaster
Omega seamaster 300 (the vintage look one) or the really vintage looking from 2017’s trilogy set!
Omega aqua terra 150 with blue dial and blue rubber strap..
These watches have a deeper connection to myself but others may have it the other way round..
I really want to own a Blancpain Fifty-Fathoms 38mm diver one day..!
I Am more of a vintage Rolex than modern if I had to own one..
