They are good little goaties!! Sometimes the rabbits that are too big for a nest box still need a place off the wire to huddle on cold days. Rubber bowls are great for that!
I love watching all the animals and wow, what a lot of work! Love how you’ve got a rhythm fir everything, simple and efficient. Looks like a wholesome full-filling way to live but definitely lots of work! 😁❤️👍🏻 🐖 🐄 🐐 🐓
It is lots of work and that's the basics that need doing daily! Usually I've got other tasks rolled into the day that don't need done daily (like today I'm moving weaned baby rabbits into their own hutch and creating a bigger brooder space for some freshly hatched quail). I love it though ! Definitely fulfilling. Thanks for being here!
You my friend are my hero, I can't deal with the snow anymore, I did for a long time and I just can't lol... I'm not a diva I promise I just get super achy and that makes things harder. The aftermath ( of the storm) I'm still trying to recover from my sciatica attack... not fun! I always watch the videos offline ( i wdownload with YT premium) so I always think I commented but then I go thru comments and I'm like no! I haven't Sending you warm wishes my friend! Lety
I like the way you have everything setup for the animals-plain and simple. Will you put any type of heat in your greenhouse in the upcoming weeks? Also what keeps your chickens from pecking the electric cord to your waterer lol I like the beehives set up too.
The chickens might peck the cord but it is very strong and once they realise it isn't food they won't go for it any longer. We don't plan to add heat to the greenhouse, it doesn't really need it! The things inn there now can handle a freeze pretty well, and much of it should be needing harvested pretty soon! We could heat it if we wanted to grow things like tomatoes over winter but we can grow what we need of those kids of things over summer. 😊
How much does it cost to feed and water your animals each day... can you give me a better idea please I'm planning out my ranch house. I want animals on my farm.
Right now it costs around $750 a month and that includes money put away for winter hay, which we pay for 200 day's worth. We have a lot going on here and it sounds like a lot, but for what they give back to us it really is comparable to the groceries we would have purchased without the animals. I'm working on feeding more grass over the summer to cut this way down. Possibly fodder systems.
Oh and how are the pregnant moms? who is supposed to be due soon? I'm nesting for my goats, remodeling kidding pens and bugging husband to make it "look pretty" yeah I'm nesting and I'm not the pregnant one lol
Animals who go through all the seasons without blankets or completely insulated enclosures actually grow thick fur for winter and thinner coats for summer. They are naturally adapted to the weather much more than humans. We could tell when our winters were going to be worse than usual by the kind of thick winter coat our horses had just before winter.
Thank you for your concern. Ventilation is most important because of risk of pneumonia without it. If you see snow on an animal that is not melting, that's good it means they are well insulated. We have never had a loss of an animal to the cold, or a death from pneumonia.
A lot has changed. The pack is like 10 inches deeper and the barn does not get a wet floor anymore and the south wall has been fortified to be able to close up in situations like this, which... has not happened since this video I don't think. That was a particularly strange storm if I recall.
What's your favorite way to keep warm on a cold snowy day??
Standing at a firepit and cook.
@@supportourmilitary4768 perfection!
On the couch with my dog under a blanket in front of a roaring fireplace!
@@barbaramarion4363 nice and toasty! 😍
I think it's awesome how you care for ALL your animals. Even when it's not the ideal weather. Really shows Class.
Thanks Tater!!
I enjoyed the video today - the baby rabbits in a bowl was really cute and I love how the goats immediately jumped up to be milked.

Wow, what a blast! So much has changed, loved seeing some of the current goats as well as older (but new to me). Odie was adorable!
Omg I loved this blast from the past too! I'm glad it's getting shared again :)

Thank you! We get a few days of relative respite from bitter cold, but it looks like a polar vortex is in the works for around the 20th!

I’m glad the snow has gone, but now rain and cold .. burrrrrr
Yeah it is really muddy here now!!

@@SageandStoneHomestead I like the way you have everything set up. Everything seems so simple and easy to take care of.
Thanks so much! I would like a few better systems in place for a few things, but chores flow much better every year it seems!

Are you getting your water for chores from inside the house or do you have a different solution?
We have four frost-free hydrants we use. One at the barn, one at the house, one at the greenhouse and one at a far buck pen.

Baerli, Pesky, and Mayhem are due in January! Baerli is first for the 19th and the other 2 are due around the 25th!!
What kind of pig is that?

This is an actual farm. People farm in cold areas. Even Norway.

Maybe a Fur Coat would be best for her animals?

If you notice, this video was posted nearly 3 years ago. A lot has changed since then!
