I appreciate you. I have learned a lot from you as you learn. Plus you are super interesting to listen to. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing it!
I just can't even fathom keeping so many variables and priorities in my mind at once, I have so much respect for you guys. Plus, it's fun to watch cold days on your farm while i'm boiling down here in Australia!
Sometimes things get a little too busy and we need to whittle down to what needs to take higher priority. Thankfully this time of year we don't really have to worry about managing bugs, grass or weeds so it frees up a lot! Stay cool!!
Ooo, I love the new gate, that's perfect! Those pumpkins have been so useful that you can never go wrong with a bumper crop of pumpkins. Your produce coming out of the green house looks market perfect!
We gave SO MANY pumpkins away too, it's crazy how far that harvest went ! Super grateful! We have the 5 outside the greenhouse to feed out to the animals over the next few days and there's 3 in the house still for us. Plus ALL those that we preserved! :)
So excited for the progress on the barn extension! Winnie’s little voice gives me giggles every time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about small harvests still being worth the effort. I often forget that. 🩵 Liz.
Was the rooster that was nice to his ladies different from the rooster with a “stew pot” attitude from a few videos ago? 😂 I also look forward to what position the scarecrow is in, it makes me laugh and it’s almost like a surprise hunt to spot it in the background!
YES the nice rooster feeding his ladies in this video is my Maran called "Majestic" The stew pot rooster (who is still out there because he took the threat to heart) is a mix that was hatched this past spring, I think he's part easter egger and those roosters are testy!!
What a wonderful update. The bunnies are adorable. All the goat’s with babies on board. Your garden is fantastic. I love these updates. Thank you for sharing
Levi is in the videos as much as my husband Billy. They work so we don't see them as offen. Thank you Heather for a great video. We got down to -22 here in Michigan. We have a warm up this week. If the sun is out and makes it so nice feeling. Unfortunately I had to cull one of my big blue doe's. She killed her last litter. I had three other litter born. We ended up with 23 kits total. 7, 8, 8. I was so happy seeing I ended up with four broken reds. Been breeding for this over a year. Thank you for sharing till next time God Bless you all.
@SageandStoneHomestead nope she had been bred 7 different times only took care of two different litters. I have two very good daughters who are excellent mother. One her litter is being butchered today and the other her litter is 5 weeks old. Then I kept her last letter to solid blue does out of that litter and hopefully they'll be great mother's too planning to have them bread next month for March babies.
So excited to see the progress on your barn addition! Love the new door and gate! Awesome camera viewpoint from inside the rabbit cage... loved it! Great save on the greenhouse produce too! Blessings on you and your family Kiddo!🌿💚🙏💕👵
Yay, look at all that amazing greenery harvested. Greens powder (plus fresh eating) is an amazing use, love that tip Heather. I realllly want a freeze dryer in my 'someday' place, we'll see what happens. I squealed in delight when I saw the doorway with a gate! Will you leave it completely open at the top or put in like a dutch half-door to block wind at all? (Guessing if doors are closed in the extension, it won't be windy.) Goatie goats looking great, and the rabbits are seriously going to love their new space. Hoping you can get it all (or mostly) situated before kids start popping out! I think I saw Cheddy dashing into the covered area in the distance while we were looking at how majestic Colby has turned out, he's sooo floooofy. Awesome video, perfect for bringing smiles and joy at the end of a very long day. 💚🥬🐇🥦🥦🐇🥬💚
This cold dip was a nice test for weather or not that's needed and I am happy to report we can leave it open as intended! The gate is so goats running into the milk area to be milked don't get a wild hair and run out the door lol! I'll have to shut the skinny door when I milk too. Cheddy has been doing awesomely in the cold too, so happy we got his respiratory funk under control!! Hooray for stocking up on meds! ♥ Always happy to bring a smile, as always thank you so much for watching!!
Love how the green house is looking. Og the new door is looking good can't wait to see when everything is all set up. I can't wait either for this weather to change lol, I wanna start my garden lol
Seeing all of the blended up greens brought to mind palak paneer. I’m thinking you probably have a good frying cheese (paneer, queso fresco, farmers cheese) in your repertoire. =) I sometimes go totally of the traditional track and add some potatoes and cooked meat and have it more like a stew.
Everything looks really good. I love seeing all the different projects going on. I have baby rabbits, too. We are in CO, so it's too cold for much of a garden. However, I have some micro greens growing, and I did start some seeds.
They are so close to my favorite age... I love when their eyes just begin to open but their little bodies are still round and tiny little ears that poke up from their heads!!
@@SageandStoneHomestead Didn't seem to bother them at all! And in Europe they often grow cabbages and kale to feed cows and goats. I would give Es. and her girls about half a 5 gal bucket of trimmings, Bambi and her2 daughters got a full bucket, hers were older than Es's triplets. On other days it was swill chard or kale or small tree trimmings
I love the idea of freeze drying greens. I think I will give it a go. Thanks! Here in south Texas we have only had one night of freezing so far. Hope we are done!
Everything looks so good! Seeing your green makes me long for spring (even though I know that means mud season). The controlled burn idea is a good idea! My pasture could benefit from a burn, but I don't have a clue how to do that without it getting out of control. So, I have to shred off the tall weeds so the grass can get a head start. I'm hoping that I can seed it to orchard grass within the next year or two.
I really hope this is the last spell of single/below zero temps! I’m over it haha! I haven’t been motivated or excited about gardening season coming but I did order seeds a few days ago and that helped me get a bit excited. I told my hubby I’ve been a little worried about not wanting to start the garden because last year I was chomping at the bit lol. I should’ve already started onion seeds!
I absolutely relish the idea of using the broccoli leaves to replace "health food store" capsules! I do think they may use a variety of several leafy greens, but building your individual freeze-dried green powders to make your own capsules is a great way to use what would often be either fed to the animals or composted (and to be fair, you probably will have enough to do that, too!). Weird question just occurred to me, but will goats eat brassica leaves? I know the chickens and pigs will, but wondered if goats would (and if it's good for them, too). We were down to 13 degrees (F) here this morning and it was absolutely beautiful in the sun - but still too stinking cold for Georgia weather! LOL
Such a great update video! Do you have fescue grass in that back section of land? I know it is extremely cold tolerant and will still grow slowly in winter. Looks like they enjoyed that special treat of green grass in the middle of winter 😊
Fescue is something I try to avoid though it is in a lot of pasture mixes. I'm not sure what it is over there but it could be fescue. Here is info on fescue and goats and why I won't buy fescue seed. www.tennesseemeatgoats.com/articles2/fescue.html
@ oh I see. I am not familiar with goats. Do you think they will still eat it if it is growing in the field? Perhaps not or do goats just eat anything? Must be hard to know what every little thing that is growing out there and preventing things that maybe be not good for goats, like the buttercup you mentioned that grows out there. Thanks for sharing that link 👍 Always love learning something new 🥰
Love to hear the name Fort Campbell since my brother lives in the general area & i just live the area of KY & TN. Would you believe back home in very deep south Louisiana my daughter & them got 12" of snow. Yes i said a foot of snow less than 20 miles from Gulf. That was 4 days ago & there is still lots of snow on ground. Crazy weather for sure.
@SageandStoneHomestead yes everything was shut down & still lots of things are plus a 6pm-6am curfew. Because the worse part is each night it freezes over again because of extreme humidity. But my grandkids surely has had a wonderful time of snow days for past week. The 4 yo was kinda scared at first with snow falling on her. She's used to rain falling on her 😆 but after a while she loves it.
Everything is looking great. Where did you get the bowls for the rabbits? The containers I have are hard to defrost, and I want it to be easier for me to get them fresh water every day in the winter.
oh gosh, that greens powder looks great. I wish freeze dryers were affordable in Australia. We are looking at about ten thousand dollars for one...which is a little out of reach 😂

How do you prepare your older rabbits? I have my first breeders, now about 5-6 years old, that i will process soon. But I am thinking they would be tougher? Love to get some tips.
Nope! Surprisingly they are not tough at all. I think part of it is, rabbit is cooked low, slow, and moist for the most part anyway which is the protocol for something like an older chicken. All you get with older rabbits is a larger weight, the meat is just the same :)
Tell Levi we appreciate his contribution to the channel.

That Pak choi looked so delicious and yummy. And the broccoli leaves looked awesome too.

That cutie piggy just loves the pumpkins! So cute. My hubby loves to eat greens with vinegar on them.
