I just bought this player along with the 512GB card and am looking forward to using it. I decided to look it up after it came in the mail and was surprised to see a lot of great feedback on it!
I was looking for something like this a few years ago now, and they never really had an affordable option, just the walkman ones. It's good to see a growing market for these- with phones no longer coming with headphone jacks, I'd still like an mp3 player that let me access my spotify too.
I bought this a couple days ago and I really like the design. It really lives up to it's name of being a mp3/mp4 player, only concern i'm having with it right now is all the time i connect it to my computer/laptop ir's not allowing me to transfer/explore the device. I had to rely on bluetooth and SD card methods to gets files into the device.
I've been transferring using a thumb drive and the included otg usb adapter. I know that android usually has a pop up when plugged into a computer that you have to click to allow the computer to access the internal storage over usb.
I have a Hiby R3 Pro Saber and what I've always done is use a USB SD Card Reader to add new files and then I "eject" the card from Windows (always disconnect through your Windows, this ensures that you don't damage / corrupt the card) BEFORE you physically remove the card. Then once I've got all my files put on that SD Card I stick it inside my Hiby R3 Saber.
Neat review! This is going 55 green leafs on Amazon, and it's Android so it's pretty good if we start there. I was planning on buying this, then realized a Samsung Galaxy S4 goes for like 57 green peas on Amazon as well, heck, for 2 dolls more, I can't go wrong with Samsung. However, you do you, if you want an MP3 player, go ahead and buy it, I'm just purchasing based on my needs. Happy shopping. Still, great review mate!
I have an older E5 Play, it has a removable backplate to get to the battery. Can't get inside of a Galaxy, not without practically breaking it in the process. Can we please go back to having swappable batteries? Ugh. I hate permanently sealed electronics...
I must bring up something that I learned about my Luoran M4 device that you did not mention, which is that kernel version 3.4.67 equates to Android 4.4.2. So this device runs Android Kit Kat.
Louran coming out with upgraded "M4 Pro" next month. Two models being released: 2GB-16GB ($80) and 3GB-32GB ($100). Both will allow for app side loading. I think initial MSRP is a little too pricey. Would be great if you reviewed one of the models.
Exactly my sentiments. Wish they would just patch the current firmware and then they'd have a really nice device for the price point. There's no reason to have a MP3 player with this form factor have 2GB/3GB RAM. Storage can easily be expanded with cheap SD. Just not seeing the $30 - $50 ROI with the M4 vs M4 Pro.
on my mission to sideload an app on this device, I have so far gotten usb debugging enabled by sneaking into developer options. I've been trying to use adb to connect but it just shows offline the whole time. But anyways I love the device and it works really well.
-Does it play video clips directly into mp3 or do I have to convert them before? -If i interrupt a song or a video clip in my playlist, does the track or clip restart from the beginning when i get back into the app? -And is there a random play mode, both for clips and tracks?
Amazing review is seems that is a nice mp3 player, the only bad thing is that you can´t install your own app, but if you enter like to youtube or facebook sites, does it work and how does it work for you? cheers from México bro
Idk if you're still checkin comments I was wondering does it have any issues switching between albums/folders? I have a old timkoo whenever I try switching to a different albums I have to back in and out once or twice to switch over.
I get occasional drops for less than a second when out in public and it's crowded but nothing more serious than that so long as I'm within about 30 ft of the player.
I just got one of these and I cannot get anything to transfer from my computer to the device. It is incredibly confusing. A QR code keeps popping up and when you scan it, it says it cannot open. I am about to send it back.
Easiest way is just to put all your music on an sd card and insert that into the player. No need to mess around with usb drivers or software. If you really wanna use the internal memory it's easy to copy off the sd card to internal using the file browser on the device.
@@sjm4306 I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was trying to move Google Drive shortcuts from my Desktop, and you can't do that. I feel so dumb! But, thanks for your help too!!!
Love the review but have a few questions on this. I have srs-xb41 sony wireless speakers. The system Bluetooth don't pick up speakers and can you download apps to this system. May need another video how too. Thanks
I suspect your speaker may be a newer bluetooth spec and maybe this device is having trouble scanning for it while trying to pair. Is there a way to force your speaker into a pairing mode? As for adding apps, there's no easy way directly from the player, but pushing an app installation via adb over usb from a computer should work so long as you can get a debug connection going.
Not sure about this specific version of android, but usually if you cant guess the unlock pattern you'd have to wipe the device and reset to factory default. On some device this requires either adb over usb to do of if there's a bootloader you can access the setting by holding specific buttons when turning on. The problem is the exact method to do this is specific to the exact model of device as well as the exact version of android. I know how to do this on modern samsung phones, but to be honest I have no idea for this model of mp3 player with a much older version of android.
Can I transfer my music videos from iTunes to this? (Also have the music saved in a separate folder). Does it play audio/video in the same playlist like iPod touch or do I have to hit the audio button and video button separately? Thanks!
So long as the video is unprotected mp4, it'll play it fine. The video player is a separate app so afaik it'll only play the video files and the music app will likewise only play audio files, even in a folder has both types in it.
Hello, I am watching your video, do you recommend me one hundred percent to buy this equipment? Or do you have a better recommendation, I want a player with bluetooth, wifi and other features similar to this one. thank you
It really depends on your budget. If you wanna spend under $60 then this is probably your best option, but if you can spend upwards of $100 then you may be better suited getting a second hand flagship android phone and using it as an mp3 player.
Yep, I was able to test with a few pairs of bluetooth headphones/earbuds with no issue. Sometimes you'll have to reset pairing to get bluetooth buds to pair (exact method differs by model).
There's no google play. Also wont work directly through the apk on the player as the warning to turn on apk installs from unknown sources pops up when you click on an apk, and when you click on the pop up it takes you to the settings menu where the option would be but there's no button to click to enable it. I suspect you could probably push the app install through adb over usb from a computer but haven't tried that yet.

Also many people who do have expensive phones do not want to risk damaging them or losing them when at the beach, working out, at work. Yes when at work many employers don't allow phones except when you are on a break but they allow you to listen to music on an MP3 player.
