Just a note: I used a pair of earphones from a Samsung phone, and though they did work, the external speaker did NOT turn off! When I pugged in an old set of J-Lab headphones, the speaker DID turn off. Interesting, because BOTH sets of earphones have the same 4-element, 3.5mm mini-plug. Then I realized that the Samsung earphones also have a built-in volume control and mute button - which, I guess, prevent the MP3 player from recognizing that earphones have been plugged in...
I notice you mentioned (1) using a SanDisk Clip Sport previously, and (2) listening to long stretches of music on shuffle mode. That's my use case in a nutshell :D I am on my third Clip after wearing out two Fuze players and one Clip--the second was an 8gb model that I retired in favor of a 16gb model when my library outgrew it. The reason I settled on these was they were the first player I've tried where I did not find myself being able to (unconsciously) know which track was going to be picked next during shuffle playback. This was following years of experimenting with various generic Chinese players that, as it turns out, only imitate random playback -- every time you powered these up, they'd play the _same sequence of tracks_ , despite being set to shuffle mode the whole time. Watching the index numbers revealed that these players didn't even pick a "random" track most of the time, instead mostly following the index in sequence order and occasionally skipping ahead or back (but always by the same number of tracks) With that (long-winded) story out of the way, have you noticed similar patterns with this player? The only time I noticed "familiar" tracks cropping up on the Clip was if I paused the playback long enough for the device to time out and power down by itself, the next session would contain tracks I previously heard...just not in the same order. If I _manually_ powered it down, the next session would pick up where I left off, but the track selection did not repeat anything from the last session. If the player in this review can match that, it would certainly be a contender. Right now I'm testing a different generic metal-bodied player...it looks like the Surfans F20, but with the controls reversed and headphone/line out jacks at the top. Its listing on Amazon literally gives its brand name as "Generic" 😂

I have both the Z6 and the Z6 Pro. I have experienced the problems you've identified with the Z6 model when I access files through the indexed database, "Music" rather than through "Folders." When I access music through the folders, though, the tracks are in the right order and albums are not merged. The Z6 Pro (I have firmware version 1.2) accesses tracks perfectly using either the indexed database or through the folders. And the track names are not truncated as they often are in the Z6. This is one of the best features of the Z6 Pro. I have quite a few players and it's one of the only ones that indexes correctly and preserves track names. If you have the Z6 Pro and you have a firmware version lower than 1.2, you could email the company and ask them for the updated firmware.
Very constructive feedback, I really like this type of reviews. Say, how much play time you got just playing regular MP3 files over a wired earbud? Was 90hrs claimed accurate?
I can only estimate but I think 90 hours is pushing it a bit, with my use I'd expect it to be closer to the 40-50 hour neighborhood. That's not to say they lied, but they probably tested with low bitrate mp3's, low volume wired buds and left the screen off the whole time (none of these situations are how I listen to music).
@@sjm4306 yeah that's still pretty good, I don't think any player out there can do that. Has the new firmware they provided you to play more than 8K songs? I wish they extend them to 32K limits. It seems everyone is copying Sandisk which is a poor choice, they should copied Rockbox instead. I don't mind waiting few extra mins for database refresh. And did the new firmware they provide you with customize 5 point EQ?
I dont have that model so I cant directly help but in the past I've used the google translate app on other devices to take a picture of the screen and translate menus for me so I could find how to change the language.

Believe it or not the V6Pro is the lesser model. Go with the V6. From experience it is the best player only out there. Skip the others and go right to this one.
No major issues other than some awkward software design choices (namely the way it sorts/displays music stored on external sd cards). Personally I prefer android based mp3 players but similarly sized ones wont get the battery life this guy does.
Can you go through albums? I’ve watched review after review wondering if it goes through all songs or if it lets u select certain albums. Sorry I’ve been considering buying it to burn all my CDs to…💿 (Nice review BTW👍🏻)
I can see no Problem at all. 85% of my Music is downloaded from TH-cam, and i created Folders for long Ambient - Single Pieces and Others for whole Albums. I nearly allways use it also as Source with my Home - HiFi. 🤨🖖
So I think you'd need to specify a price range to be fair. I have a few hi-res units that are head and shoulders above these chinese branded ones but it's also not a fair comparison since the price is 10x higher. I'd say the best bang for the buck models are around the $80-$100 range like the Pecsu and some lower end/older Fiio models. Of all things I'm also generally fond of older sandisk sansa players like the clip+, they are pretty cheap and sound really good despite their price (the problem being the models I like are discontinued so can only be bought used by now).
@@sjm4306 I would like to know by your perspective wich are your favorites regardless the price and based only in quality of sound. but if you prefer to separate them into below and over $100, that would be awesome too!
Hey! I just got this as a gift and am really excited BUT I have no idea how to transfer music to this. I can't even get the Bluetooth to connect. The instructions aren't a lot of help. But i really need to know basic setup of this Phinistec Z6!!! Thank you!!! 😊
You just plug this into a computer using the included usb cable and it should show up as a removable drive. Then you just drag and drop music files into the drive's window (or create folders to organize if you'd like). Just think of it as a thumb drive. As for bluetooth, it's only for transmitting audio to headphones/speakers not for transferring data.
It is a great device, but unfortunately it is not possible to access a certain song quickly. The only way is to scroll the hundreds of songs or artists. Thanks for this review

It's about the size of an ipod (a bit smaller actually so probably closer to the ipod mini) if that helps. Unless you have really small/tight pockets it's should fit fine. The only thing is the corners aren't rounded so it may be a bit harder to slide in/out of tighter pockets.
No issues beyond the few quirky ui choices I mentioned in the review. It still works fine, barely have to charge the battery too which is a welcome change from other mp3 players.
You mentioned that the mp3 SD card was not reading all of your music that's because the mp3 can't read more than 32GB of music they lied about how much GB it can take
I own the Coros Vertix 2 sport watch that has 32gb of storage dedicated to mp3, my question is about the way the storage is set up, i downloaded over 700 songs onto the watch however, only 200 songs were able to be played by the watch. I learned from my son that it might be the way that 32gb of storage is set up, he explained that video game storage is sometimes divided into “plug-ins” and that 200 is often the maximum number of “plug-ins” allowed so my son believes my watch may also have a similar limitation of the 32gb of storage to only allow 200 mp3 audio files or “plug-ins, I know you were not discussing this Coros Vertix 2 sport watch but i was hoping you may be famliar with how mp3 players are setup or designed to make use of the storage capacity
It's usually the firmware on the device or the available onboard ram that limits max number of tracks. When you add music the software on the device has to cache the tracks so that it can quickly sort/search/display the song list for you to scroll through. This is why ipods have hard limited max track number limits and even flash modding them to increase the memory past 1TB wont allow them to recognize more than ~50k songs (actual number depends on specific model of ipod as apple increased ram in specific later models).
You could be on to something, but wouldn't the same file then have the same error whether it was on sd or internal flash or would it be an issue with the filepath in addition to the filename?
Love your channel brother!!!!💪💪💪 I bought the Z6 music only model. Is it possible that you review the music only model and address the software issues like: A Favorite Music Folder, and a simple tweak in the software to be able to see your music files regardless of which folder it's in. Hello. Thank you for your review. I've been using a FiiO FX3321, I have a 128gb card, my question is: will it play if I just insert the sd card with my music already loaded with my music?
I've swapped in cards from my sansa clip/sony nw-a45/fiio m5 with no issues. So long as the card doesn't have some weird non-standard formatting and the audio file format is supported by this player then it should just recognize and play them.
I cannot stand using my iPhone as my main music player, mainly because, unless you're paying for a premium music service, you're constantly being bombarded by ads which is not acceptable to me. I also don't love that the quality online is totally hit or miss, again, unless you're subbing to a premium service of some kind. Bluetooth is nice to have but also, the quality is not where it needs to be for true Audiophile or HD listening. My current portable rig is a Fiio X1 player, a Fiio A5 headphone amp, and a variety of wired phones and IEMs. With that, I get all my music in the best quality possible with tons of power. I takes some time and manpower to get the music in .wav etc. onto the player from my PC, but it's worth it. I bought some BT headphones and "Air Pods" but there's no power to them, and no power coming from the IPhone. I don't get what the point of that is. Why would I want a device with no headphone amp built in, and no power coming from the BT headphones? How can I go backwards in amp power and quality after I got spoiled with my wired amp rig? Most people using their phones for audio are not audiophiles and only care about convenience. These are the same idiots who don't buy music anymore but they don't realize they're getting f--ked by trading quality for convenience. There's a good reason why my original Dark Side of the Moon CD from 1985 sounds 1000x better than the current ones. Standards were that much higher and the proof is in the recording or, that source vs. some cruddy BT connex. or brickwalled new remaster of the same album. Putting some good vinyl sources onto your mp3 player is prob. even better, as long as you have a good table and amp to run through to get the files onto the PC or MAC in the best quality. But then the workload is a pain in the ass. Tidal is prob. worth subbing to, but not every device can take advantage of it. This thing cannot, alas. I may buy this as an alternate mp3 player merely because I love the rugged chassis and construction of it. I have no use for a speaker or FM radio, really. But for the price, it's built very well. My Fiio player is smaller but also built reasonably tough. The thing is the Fiio sound quality is 5 stars. Will this sound as good? I dunno. It should be good for an every day beater mp3 player that is built like a tank, and you don't have to worry so much about damaging or dropping.
It's definitely not pretty, and more akin to what I'd expect from maybe ~15 years ago but it's more or less usable. The bigger problem is the bugs and functional oversights in the software. Like I said the hardware really makes me want to love this player but its software needs a lot of work.
Plenty of reasons: not running down the phone battery just to listen to music, most phones dont have expandable memory or headphone jacks anymore, I'll feel far worse accidentally destroying or losing a phone vs this while using during exercise. Just because you dont see a use for something in your life doesn't mean there isn't one for anyone else.

When I access music through the folders, though, the tracks are in the right order and albums are not merged.
Check you're file names. And for example The Beatles would organize under T. and so on
Do I need to update it? I don't see the eq settings on mine.
Is the Bluetooth 5.3 audio ?
So you cannot turn off built in speaker??
Thanks
Only by plugging in headphones or connecting to bluetooth headphones. Otherwise it'll default to the speaker.
@@sjm4306 got it, thanks so much!
And did the new firmware they provide you with customize 5 point EQ?
one last inquiry, how about displaying album art did they ever fixed it in latest firmware?
I have a, Samvix Dynamite 32GB Kosher MP3 Player, and I think its in koren or chinese and I cannot find out how to change the language.
I dont have that model so I cant directly help but in the past I've used the google translate app on other devices to take a picture of the screen and translate menus for me so I could find how to change the language.
Did you ever update the firmware on this unit.
There was a followup video where I updated the firmware.
Hi. I just bought one of these because your videos. Is a great purchase. But I can't find the firmware 1.2-1.4. Also, mu z6 cant't detect my Sony Wh-1000mx3 headphones. Is very annoying. I wrote to support. Do you know any solution?
You can find anything with pairing mode on your phones, mostly long push power butten until flash blink fast.
Did u find out how to get the Radio to work,
all im getting is Static.
You need to use wired headphones, they use it as a tuner

Great review, I read you have both the Z6 and the Z6 pro, do you know what's the difference between the 2?
I only have the z6 so unfortunately I don't know what the difference is.
Believe it or not the V6Pro is the lesser model. Go with the V6. From experience it is the best player only out there. Skip the others and go right to this one.
So far how has it held up? Any issues? Coming from a terrible experience with the FiiO M7 and I don’t want to repeat it.
No major issues other than some awkward software design choices (namely the way it sorts/displays music stored on external sd cards). Personally I prefer android based mp3 players but similarly sized ones wont get the battery life this guy does.
Is the sound good using headphones?
Is it a power pack as well?
Unfortunately no, but that would've been an interesting idea
Can you go through albums? I’ve watched review after review wondering if it goes through all songs or if it lets u select certain albums. Sorry I’ve been considering buying it to burn all my CDs to…💿
(Nice review BTW👍🏻)
I can see no Problem at all. 85% of my Music is downloaded from TH-cam, and i created Folders for long Ambient - Single Pieces and Others for whole Albums. All of them appeard in alphabetical Order, so i find Everything quickly. ( I did'nt have had to try renaming to Numbers. A german Reviewer wrote, it would NOT practice alphabetical Order,- but it DOES! )
Mayby i should write: i call up my Music trought FOLDERS,- but it's evan possible to search trought > Artists Genre < or > Playlist < and one more i can't look for now, because it's in Action now. I nearly allways use it also as Source with my Home - HiFi. 🤨🖖
@@picard339same I get my music on TH-cam
sjm4306*, In terms of sound or playback quality, which MP3 Player you think is best? Or at least, give your favorite top 3 in any order.
@@sjm4306 Also, I'm having trouble to install double twist into my Pecsu. Any idea?
It could be a bad apk, I had no trouble installing it. Try another apk download site.
@@sjm4306 is there an specific version I need to download?
Hey! I just got this as a gift and am really excited BUT I have no idea how to transfer music to this. I can't even get the Bluetooth to connect. The instructions aren't a lot of help. Any links for good instructions for a novice? I've been listening to Spotify for years and am really excited for this. I know Spotify doesn't transfer, as well.

Yes! I really often load down Music from TH-cam and connect wired to Smartphone then to transfere that. Tranfere - Rate about 100 Mb less than 2 Minutes. 🤨🖖 ( For Progress - State pull down the Task - Area of Phone, or just wait for Confirming, > Done < )
Hello. Does this music player fit easily in the pants pocket? For daily walks
It's about the size of an ipod (a bit smaller actually so probably closer to the ipod mini) if that helps. Unless you have really small/tight pockets it's should fit fine. The only thing is the corners aren't rounded so it may be a bit harder to slide in/out of tighter pockets.
@@sjm4306 Thank you for answering me
@@sjm4306 Thanks for the review. Has the device encountered any problems after 8 months? Doesn't it hang?
No issues beyond the few quirky ui choices I mentioned in the review. It still works fine, barely have to charge the battery too which is a welcome change from other mp3 players.
You mentioned that the mp3 SD card was not reading all of your music that's because the mp3 can't read more than 32GB of music they lied about how much GB it can take
128 gb is the limit.. for the pro version the limit is 256 gb..
Play FLACs or definitely not.
I own the Coros Vertix 2 sport watch that has 32gb of storage dedicated to mp3, my question is about the way the storage is set up, i downloaded over 700 songs onto the watch however, only 200 songs were able to be played by the watch. I learned from my son that it might be the way that 32gb of storage is set up, he explained that video game storage is sometimes divided into “plug-ins” and that 200 is often the maximum number of “plug-ins” allowed so my son believes my watch may also have a similar limitation of the 32gb of storage to only allow 200 mp3 audio files or “plug-ins,
I know you were not discussing this Coros Vertix 2 sport watch but i was hoping you may be famliar with how mp3 players are setup or designed to make use of the storage capacity
It's usually the firmware on the device or the available onboard ram that limits max number of tracks. When you add music the software on the device has to cache the tracks so that it can quickly sort/search/display the song list for you to scroll through. This is why ipods have hard limited max track number limits and even flash modding them to increase the memory past 1TB wont allow them to recognize more than ~50k songs (actual number depends on specific model of ipod as apple increased ram in specific later models).
maybe the problem with sd card not playing some files is the lenght of a filename.
You could be on to something, but wouldn't the same file then have the same error whether it was on sd or internal flash or would it be an issue with the filepath in addition to the filename?
@@sjm4306 i had problems wit some flash cards for nintendo ds. check if the card is formated fat32 or exfat.
or put just one problematic file on the sd card renamed to some short name.
It's fat32, the card came from my sansa clip+
@@sjm4306 i dont know then. fat32 is standard.
Love your channel brother!!!!💪💪💪
I bought the Z6 music only model.
Is it possible that you review the music only model and address the software issues like: A Favorite Music Folder, and a simple tweak in the software to be able to see your music files regardless of which folder it's in. Instead of having to always have to switch music folders.
I am subscribed and am telling everyone of my friends about your channel and your reviews. Thank you very much 💪💪💪👍👍👍😁😁😁😁
I cannot stand using my iPhone as my main music player, mainly because, unless you're paying for a premium music service, you're constantly being bombarded by ads which
is not acceptable to me. I also don't love that the quality online is totally hit or miss, again, unless you're subbing to a premium service of some kind. Bluetooth is nice to have
but also, the quality is not where it needs to be for true Audiophile or HD listening. My current portable rig is a Fiio X1 player, a Fiio A5 headphone amp, and a variety of
wired phones and IEMs.
How can I go backwards
in amp power and quality after I got spoiled with my wired amp rig? Most people using their phones for audio are not audiophiles and only care about convenience.
These are the same idiots who don't buy music anymore but they don't realize they're getting f--ked by trading quality for convenience. There's a good reason why
my original Dark Side of the Moon CD from 1985 sounds 1000x better than the current ones. Standards were that much higher and the proof is in the recording or,
that source vs. some cruddy BT connex. or brickwalled new remaster of the same album. Putting some good vinyl sources onto your mp3 player is prob. even better,
as long as you have a good table and amp to run through to get the files onto the PC or MAC in the best quality. But then the workload is a pain in the ass. Tidal
is prob. worth subbing to, but not every device can take advantage of it. This thing cannot, alas. I may buy this as an alternate mp3 player merely because
I love the rugged chassis and construction of it. I have no use for a speaker or FM radio, really. But for the price, it's built very well. My Fiio player is smaller but
also built reasonably tough. The thing is the Fiio sound quality is 5 stars. Will this sound as good? I dunno. It should be good for an every day beater mp3 player
that is built like a tank, and you don't have to worry so much about damaging or dropping.
A 10yo Android phone makes a great MP3 player 👍
ui is nauseating
It's definitely not pretty, and more akin to what I'd expect from maybe ~15 years ago but it's more or less usable. The bigger problem is the bugs and functional oversights in the software. Like I said the hardware really makes me want to love this player but its software needs a lot of work.
Why not just use your phone? More crap devices redundant...wtf?
Plenty of reasons: not running down the phone battery just to listen to music, most phones dont have expandable memory or headphone jacks anymore, I'll feel far worse accidentally destroying or losing a phone vs this while using during exercise. Just because you dont see a use for something in your life doesn't mean there isn't one for anyone else.
