I used to work with some guys who would bring these in like every other week. Best sandwich I've ever had. I could never remember the name so I could never order it myself. Even though they must have told me 50 times lol. The name just wouldn't stick. THANK YOU. I'm gonna be making these tomorrow for dinner. Edit: I did make them and they were delicious. I ate 2 lol. Had another leftover one for lunch today. With your creamy green salsa recipe it set it off. Thank you again for a new staple in my menu and a fresh look at fond old memories.
Truly amazing! The video, the writing, content, really everything, at highest level. The way you seamlessly weave in key hints and ideas about technique so efficiently. I am in awe at how far you have progressed from your earlier videos. Muchos gracias from Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Thanks for letting me know about seasoned protein powder. I didn’t know about it. The coconut flour and the almond flour were to gritty. I’m going to try the protein powder. Thank you very much. I love your videos
Well it didn’t come out like yours. It actually started turning dark not golden. I turned down the heat but it still turned pretty much burnt. Not sure why it did that other than using lard instead of avocado oil. Could that have been the reason? I guess I’m just not that good of a cook anyway.
How does Nelson stay so skinny eating all the incredible food you make? You can also use oyster mushrooms in place of meat. They are delicious breaded and fried.
@@VillaCocina I should've recognized a fellow cycling enthusiast! I live next to a 35 mi long paved bike trail in Sacramento CA on the American River Parkway. I cycle as much as I can. It keeps me young and fit. I'm 66 yrs old and eat plants only.
I prefer peruano beans (aka mayocoba, canary or Peruvian beans). They are naturally very creamy, have a very soft skin, and they cook very fast. With pintos, I have to blend them, otherwise I don't like the texture of the remaining skins. I've never seen cranberry beans in my stores - I'll try them if I can find them.
Rosanna, could you share your whole wheat bread recipe in an upcoming video? Are there any other Mexican bread styles that perhaps many of us are not familiar with? Thanks!
It's regional, but I think teleras may be more common than bolillos for tortas. Teleras (soft crust) are common in Mexico City and central states like Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Morelos. In Jalisco and Guanajuato they often use birote, which is like a sourdough version of a bolillo (crunchy crust). (from google research - I'm not Mexican).
I love your recipesa lot, I just get sad😢because some of your recipes I can't find the ingredients in our local stores in Eswatini 🇸🇿 but I'm sure when I go to South Africa I'll find them.
To be honest...Tortas are really bland. I think it's the re-fried beans. I was married to a mexican woman and she even agrees. She however, can't explain why.
Season your food well. You lose a lot of flavor in the beans and the breading. If those components can taste great on their own, then your torta will taste great
That sounds kinda silly - it's just bread with stuff on it - the flavor is totally dependent on the 'stuff' you add. Some people heavily season their beans, others count on the addition of salsas and the other ingredients. Sounds like your wife needs to learn some new recipes.
219k subs!!! WAAAATTT you are famous now.
We are blessed ☺️
@@VillaCocina why yes you are my dear Thank you . Have been on others and have not tried all but this is where I stop,

Oh My That Makes My Mouth Water Just Looking At It 😊
You should teach me how to make a good shredded beef burrito ranchero.
I prefer 'cranberry beans' for my refried beans. Very similar but I prefer them. I made batch last night.

@@kindabluejazz I source beans from a local store 'Chili Smith Family Food' for most beans.
Haha, Nelson, with a sandwich 3x the size of him just shows how good it tastes!
Too funny 😂

Bolillo rolls are the traditional bread choice, right?
It's regional, but I think teleras may be more common than bolillos for tortas. Teleras (soft crust) are common in Mexico City and central states like Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Morelos. In Jalisco and Guanajuato they often use birote, which is like a sourdough version of a bolillo (crunchy crust). (from google research - I'm not Mexican).
It really depends on the region. Both Telera and Bolillo are traditional.
I had tortas on a first date when I was younger, still one of the best dates I've ever been on.

Hello there! best of luck finding the ingredients. ☺️
Thank you for another great video, Nelson is so lucky,👻
Hey Rossana and Nelson!

Is that the way ya'll tasting the salsa? That's how we do with salt, then chased it with tequila and lime😄😄
Luck guy
When you were a kid was there any food you didn't like? I can't see any kid not liking anything I've seen you make.
um... I use to not like lentils but still ate them, could not be picky ☺️. Now! I love them!
Those are some American sized sandwiches
To be honest...Tortas are really bland. I think it's the re-fried beans. I was married to a mexican woman and she even agrees. She however, can't explain why.
Season your food well. You lose a lot of flavor in the beans and the breading. If those components can taste great on their own, then your torta will taste great
Maybe you need better refried beans? 🤔
That sounds kinda silly - it's just bread with stuff on it - the flavor is totally dependent on the 'stuff' you add. Some people heavily season their beans, others count on the addition of salsas and the other ingredients. Sounds like your wife needs to learn some new recipes.
