Looking forward to seeing the progress on this. Bought myself a '94 3.2 DOHC with a manual transmission back in June as cheap overlander and a project.
I have a manual 98 Trooper that I had built out. It is a beast. I also have three jeeps and the Trooper will do everything the jeeps can do. I keep in Arizona for trails out west. Love my Trooper!
I'm hoping this will keep up with a Jeep. It's hard to beat a jeep. I used to have a 1998 TJ, lifted, tires, and all that. I could do some amazing things with it but it couldn't hold the people and things this trooper can. Once I get this built I'm absolutely going to Moab and we will see what she can do.
They are Called Holden (Jackaroo) I’ve a 2000 Jackaroo with a 4jx1 Diesel Intercooler Turbo ! Thing goes Anywhere a Land Rover or Toyota would or Could Do !! Great Crawler up those Big Hills we have in the High County Here in Victoria! Pity they never Sold the Diesel in America Best of Luck
Dude!! Did we just become best friends. Just had my heater core go out on my 95 limited , started nothing a slight coolant smell then found the passenger side floor saturated in coolant. 🤦🏿 Had no ideal how I was going to fix it. My local shop said 1 grand to take out the dashboard. But I keep thinking I should be able to to do that myself over a couple of weekends. This video was the first I seen showing you taking apart the dashboard from the center to passenger door to access that heater core. Thank You, Thank You, Thank you!! Oh 3 weeks after finding the heater core was leaking on the way to work crankshaft broke with 234 miles on it.🤦🏿🤬🤬. Shop is replacing the engine and cap off heater core. I’ll fix the heater core over some other weekends . I still have 2000 trooper limited to sport around in 😁
My personal opinion is use a 4.0l straight 6 from a jeep cherokee or Toyota's 2.8l or 3.0l straight 6( if u can find one) torque is great and very easy to work on for overlanding but like I said MY PERSONAL OPINION love the vids keep em coming🤘
When using a urethane Berliner material, put long bolts in the holes. You can cut around them to get a nice finished look and they are easier to remove. Oh, ARB’s are a sweet score BTW.
I'm really looking forward to this build series! Now, as the owner of a '93 Trooper with that same brown interior... there are a few things I'd like to buy from you. First off, the removable doors from the rear cargo area: one on the driver's side and one on the big door. :)
I have a 94 parts truck and 95 limited daily driver. You got a steal if you got those for 500 each. That arb front bumper goes for a grand on the used market. The air lockers, the rack, and they are both manuals! 2 unicorns for sure.
I have a 2002 Rodeo 3.2l 5 speed 4x4 with 75K miles. I want to find a 2nd Gen OBDII Trooper with a clean body, so I can swap everything over. I have done this on Jeep ZJs, and J10s. I'm just waiting for the right Trooper to come along for a steal.
3.2 + manual transmission should be bullet proof. It´s the 3.5 and automatic trans that breaks on these. They have good and strong axles and are great off-road. The flex is really good on these ones. How they still are cheap is a mystery to me.
Reason why still cheap is fault of consumers report test...if all looked at real test footage it was the 4runner that failed but everyone bought what they said...hav a 93 ls luxury edition..198thou miles..very little rust..paid 2k for it 4yrs ago
Everyone shits on Isuzu's as being unreliable and top heavy. Which is completely untrue. I've owned several over the past couple years teo being parts rigs. 90% of all the break downs are P.O. failing to do scheduled maintenance.
They axles, transmission, transfercase, interior parts (seats door cards ECT) are interchangeable.the motors are the same but different (different heads/injection system). The corporate 12 bolt axle rear is the same from 92-02' different gear ratios on the 98+ models though 4.56 vs 4.30 I believe. The front lift is just a torsion bar crank, aftermarket control arms are a waste of time and money just swap the ball joints under the uca with a small spacer plate. The rear lift you can use zj front coil springs from the v8 model with the pigtail cut off or get oem 929 springs. That arb bumper is a super score they are 1200 bucks brand new. Same with the lockers, although I didn't know they made a 10 bolt locker, I wonder if that is rigged in there. Get yourself a transmission cooler or the automatic will die is a fiery ball of burning atf.
There are troopers all around the pacific countries and they run for quite a long time, surely are amazing cars I don't know, why Americans don't like these 😕
I just ended up getting a 96 this last weekend. Two questions, will the fenders fit from the 94 onto a 96 and second question did you sell the old one yet? Lol
You're right. The interior was better, but the frame was bent and it had been in a wreck. Right now it's up on jacks and in a million parts. I took the interior out of the green one and put it in the red one, I was going to just put seat covers on it and roll with it. Later on, you'll see I then got a free 2001 and swapped it all again. So right now it's got a grey interior and new parts from the 2001.
Looks like a great project to see how it turns out. Quick question... why did your voice get high and squeaky when talking about the addition of a shower? 😳
Just picked up a 94 for camping.. Super fun vehicle
Awesomeness

Ear plugs works good for masking holes before you paint or put on bed liner
Now that’s smart. I’ll use that in the future
I have a 1st and 2nd Gen. (‘86 & ‘93). I love both vehicles and parts searching is fun!
Really it is
Some parts, I have settled on 3D printing my own.

Some day I’m headed to Ausi land! I love my Australian cousins!
ARB air lockers doubled the value of the vehicle. What a find!
I know right!
Ah the squeaky tick knock of the unkillable trooper. 😂
Unkillable... It's extremely likable. Though mildly obnoxious. 😂

That’s awesomeness! It’s a pain but doable. Reach out on FB if I can be helpful
Looking forward to this build ! Cool how you took a couple laps around the mud pit, that makes it more fun to wrench on the suspension and axles 😂.
Ya I spent a ton of time spraying it off. But I need a before and after shot.

I’ll hopefully find a diesel from the Philippines or something like that and upgrade that way in the future.
You can’t go wrong with a yoda engine though

Hey I know that guy! I shoulda called you. Ya now I’ve just gotta install the compressor and hope they lock! We’ll see.

It was 500 for the red one and 2K for the green one and free for the 2001 with no engine. But ya I definitely scored!
One day i'll finish my 91 Trooper. One day...
Do it!

Love the Sequoia tow rig
Ole reliable
Lockers as a bonus - you're a lucky guy. That alone makes it a win!
Dude I absolutely scored there
That’s going to be a sweeeeet ride my friend!
We’ll play with it when you visit

Killen me he was
Interesting video. Silly point, maybe, but I LOVE the background music you used.
I liked it too. I struggle way too long to find music I’m aloud to use and I also like.
I make Trooper videos also!!! Very happy to find this 🙏🙏
Awesomeness! I'm hoping I can get video two out in Feb
@@TJackSurvival I just posted one if you're having Trooper withdrawals 😆
@@RemoteTrooper I’ll go watch it. At the moment I’m OD’d on trooper though.

Realy great video TJ!!!👍 Looking forward for the next ones!😉 I'll keep my fingers crossed so you dont't have headakes with the build!🤞😜
Oh I’ve had plenty. Rebuilt a few things already but that’s half the fun
@@TJackSurvival I wish You an easy overhaul and I am convinced that it will turn out an amazing rig!
I have a very good 3.2, if anyone is interested. It's in AR.
The window crank probably is missing the E clip thingy, don't epoxy it on, if you need to get into the door innards that crank will be a bugger.
Ya I eventually figured that out. I’ve since pulled all the doors apart on three vehicles and gone electric
It's a c clip that holds it in place
3.2 + manual transmission should be bullet proof. It´s the 3.5 and automatic trans that breaks on these. They have good and strong axles and are great off-road. The flex is really good on these ones. How they still are cheap is a mystery to me.
Exactly! You get exactly what I’m going for here!!!

He forgot bout the compartment under seats that can be accessed by flipping back seats forward

Use those sheets of garage sale price stickers to cover screws and holes.

Rahmoe had a tan 2001 trooper
Whaaaat!. Lexus V8!?
Ya look up LS V8 swap
I Don’t think I’m doing that now though. I’d prefer a diesel
I really love isuzu trooper. I have an opel monterey. But he has a problem with the engine
Sweet!
Thanks!
How did you get a roof rack for this vehicle?
There are troopers all around the pacific countries and they run for quite a long time, surely are amazing cars

We like them. We’d buy them if they started selling them again

We can't find a running used car that they don't want a fortune for. !
I know right. I drove a day away to get both of these
I just ended up getting a 96 this last weekend. Two questions, will the fenders fit from the 94 onto a 96 and second question did you sell the old one yet? Lol
There’s a skinny body and a wide body, I think that happened in 94-95 or 96. I assumed the fenders will transfer. Sorry I crushed all the old stuff.
JEEP WRANGLER ALL THE WAY!!!
I had one. They do the work. But they cost a ton
Is the body on the green one that bad as to warrant swapping parts? Interior on the green one looks better.

Where are you at, how much do you want to do that to mine?
All sorts of not at all LOL😂
But Pro Audio 4X4 in Provo Utah could do that to yours.

I'll look into that.

Clearly it’s because I’m still going through puberty.
I want to turn a 1996 suburban into a over landing SUV
I literally almost did that before deciding on a trooper. It’s a sturdy beast to build on
I'm here because I found a really clean trooper for 900 bucks wanted to see what they were capable of
Essentially just a Japanese jeep
