That's hilarious. No I'm not a trust fund kid building on this 500 dollar rust bucket. LOL what do you think it costs to build a 20 year old Trooper? Hint: it’s less than a quarter the cost of an old stalk Toyota before modifications.

Out of all the vehicles I have bogged and abused (toys bought for that purpose), many only last a year or 2.
But Ill stand by Isuzu troopers until the end.
My cousin found a STEAL! 150k miles, perfect paint, well taken care of. Only gave $500 because of title issue. But the fact the ac and heat worked made our jaw drop. After many many nights drinking, loaded down with friends and their ol ladies, we would literally try to kill it. 2 years later I bought it and I sold it 6 years later.
Same 33” swampers, same axles, motor, whole 9 yards. That motor stayed on the rev limiter. When I sold it every square inch was dented, only the windshield remained. Literally every power line, and skidder trail we could find. Motor never missed and no matter how long it sat or how much abuse from smallish trees being run over, 40mph through random thick brush swamps nothing could kill “Suzi”. Certainly one hell of a machine. So long as the tires could touch she would pull. Amazing lock diff setup from the factory. I put them in the same class with the ol 22r yotas. Waterproof sound system, cb with PA speakers, and light bars all over it made for a great night every single time! Nice setup bud and I like the plans you have for yours

Well.hello t-jack it kind of looks like you got your build going pretty good. I had to watch you in between commercials because I was watching Gunsmoke in color but as you can see I got them both done. Anyway keep the videos coming on the build and then once you get that machine going let's have some of them outside videos. Thanks again for the video have a great day stay safe and keep your powder dry!

I still have my 91 trooper. I've had many 4x4 vehicles over the years, and I still consider my trooper the best 4x4 out of them all, hands down! Finding parts are almost impossible. Cant even find them in junk yards. Do you know what price running troopers go for those days? I do have some rust on mine, but my grey interior is in awesome shape. I'm putting a new clutch in mine. My trooper is a 2.8 litter v6, and has a 5 speed manual transmission. Red.

Tjack . Looks like your pretty solid on your truck. I drove my XO around every desert in Saudi Arabia from king Khalid military city to Rihad at Flor Daniels all they to the berm for year in a Isuzu trooper that we had rented from Al hilan. Threw the desert canyons burning sand and freezing winters in desert shield storm for 12 months I beat the crap out of it. Full of ammo gas water and cases of mre. We even sandbagged the floor boards and it never quit. Can’t speak to all of them but that one was good to go

After re reading, hang on tight this is info over load..LOL
Very wize choice with the MUA manual trans.
The OE auto box is a 4L30-e from gm and barely enuf for the auto very commen for faluers.
    .
you mentioned the Lexus swap I think 1st video. The auto trans 88/91 with the 4 cylinder is a Asian Warner. with a housing swap from the isuzu 2.6L to the Lexus pattern, its a direct swap.
    An 88/91 with the gm 2.8 v6 is a 4L30-e just like the 1990s
    .
personal preference is a JDM diesel 4JG2-TC 3.1 or the older 4JB1-TC 2.8
    0.01c
    .
Sence you went with the older axils, you have 4.55s or it was ((when new)).
4.77/4.30 and 4.11 are the other possibilities for bolt in gears from other isuzu models. The 4.11s are the hardest to find as the front comes from a rodeo some are 4.30 some are 4.11 depending on auto or manual.
and the rear from a isuzu 2wd 2.6 truck, the 2.3 has the older 10 bolt. Possibly gen1 amegos as well same specs.
Any trooper with the newer modified 12 bolt on the rear Is 4.30 only but is much stronger.
    .
There insane rare but the last year 2004 troops also have the Asian Warner automatic.

Thanks for the info Bruce, I hit up Robert B a lot of these questions. I’ve still got the original front and back axles. I just used the 1994 because they came with lockers. But if I bust that I’ll swap stuff. If I can I’ll eventually do the diesel swap instead of the LS. For now I’ll burn this engine down and probably just get another gas one till I get the urge to do the diesel swap.
