Thoroughly enjoyed that Tom !! I’m a 70 year old retired plumber and never installed underfloor heating and wondered how it was all put together This explains it all perfectly. Learn something new every time you do a video- thank you
Thanks for the support as always mate, I watched your recent video, the label maker is great, I bought mine last year on black Friday for around 10 pounds, have a great weekend
Very nice work Tom, more nice it’s a shame a lot of home builders don’t put this in, on the council houses, probably cost. 👍👍👍👍👍🙋♂️Tom have a good weekend and plenty of gaming to get your speed up on call of duty👍
Tom, I love how meticulous you are. When my boiler needs changing I’ll want you to do it. I’ll even pay your travel time and/or hotel bill for the night as I’m just South of Sheffield.
A nice setup. I miss the underfloor heating my Dad and Me installed in my old flat. It was an electric system fitted on top of 60mm XPS tile backer board in the kitchen and bathroom.
Thoroughly enjoyed that one Tom. That's the sort of job I enjoy, time consuming but left to get on with it you get satisfaction in seeing it done properly. Dad bit here but please wear a mask when you're cutting Kingspan, it's nasty stuff. Take care 😊.
Hi Tom, A very interesting and educational film there thank you Tom. I have never done a full installation of underfloor heating before. As always I am always happy to learn. Looks like another great job, well done Tom it looks hard work especially on your lower back and knees. Have a great weekend and take care. 👍👍👍
Love your videos Tom! Watched all of them, best on TH-cam showing what plumbing is really like. Think the pressure gauge would have been better on top with the flow gauges so it wouldn’t get in the way of the actuator. Cheers keep the vids coming!!
Very interesting Tom, not done very much with underfloor, looked good when you got it all done, look forward to seeing this one progress, have a great weekend 👍🚽
Thanks for the support as always Andy, I wouldn't want to retire, I would get bored quick, my neighbour just won 10.1 million and was debating whether to retire
Great video Tom 👍. I’ve never done any underfloor heating but think I could tackle it having watched this. I have to say it looks like 2 men would be quicker and easier for laying out the pipe (a bit like kitchen fitting it means one can stay on their knees while the other is standing). And is it with all that spare time you’re going to reengineer the floor stapler 😂?!
Thanks for the support as always Darren, it is definitely quicker with two, If I was better on computers I probably could come up with a design for a stapler, I think if one of the big tool companies bought one out it would sell well
I've been told conflicting things so I just put it on now, the kingspan is quite rigid so I guess it won't compress as much as the blue stuff, thanks for watching Chris
Another great video, Tom 👍 what was the pump you used to fill the UFH up with? Is it just a 240V transfer pump? I've seen proper fill stations but they are all pretty expensive for the same thing really
I'd happily sit down with you and design a staple gun they are all crap. Great going doing that on your own tom we usually do that in 2s. Lay out a plot like that in 5-6 hours
Thanks for the support as always mate, this took me around 9, but that included filling and moving all the stuff. It is quicker with two. The stapler definitely needs a redesign, if I knew how to design I would
Interesting to see how a proper setup is done and installed. I created a small (3.5 x 7m) single room system and made it up as I went along. I routed out 10mm groves in the plywood floor for the 10mm pipe. Really can't recommend this it was a horrible job due to the chipboard being recycled wood full of bits of metal. Got through 3 router bits. Split the room into 4 x 25m coils with 150mm spacing. Applied some aluminum tape over the pipe before covering with wood floorboards. Seems to work nicely if not the normal way of doing it.
Thanks for watching mate, there are a few methods, doing it this way, just clipping to the insulation is the fastest but sometimes, like your job, you have to improvise
I've got stuff kicking all over, I took some cast iron rads out years ago thinking I would sell them, they are still where I left them, it's just having time to sort stuff, thanks for the support mate
Love the content Tom you've some knowledge. Just wondering do you run the hot and cold pipes under the insulation on the raft or after first layer of insulation is down thanks?
I try not to run any hot colds under floors, if I was going to I would put them under the insulation and duct them in one length of pipe, so if there was ever a problem the pipe could be replaced, thanks for the support as always Gerry
Thank you for the video Tom I found it interesting, how are your two other lads doing Harry and Jacob are they still with you?? Another thing Tom by a new chuffing brush !!!
Nice work Do you normally fit the polythene and insulation? Where I'm based the builder always does the plastic and insulation. all we do is lay the pipes!
It just depends on the builder, I don't mind doing it, and I can get any ducting in I need. I find it quite relaxing for some weird reason, it's probably because I don't have to worry about it leaking, thanks for watching as always mate
Thanks for the support mate, I can try to do a video on pricing, I don't like discussing current jobs but I can show some breakdown costs on older projects
@ sorry mate I didn’t mean to pry into your pricing. I didn’t mean how much you charge I was just wondering how you price it up and things you have to take into account. Yea it would make a very interesting video 👍👍
@@olympusplumbingheating5027 All good mate, I can defiantly do a video on how I breakdown a job, I think it will surprise people how much time it takes to put a big quote together, I have priced one recently for next year where there is a full commercial heating system and plantroom along with 7 bathrooms, I probably spent 40plus hours on that quote
I probably need to do something at some point, I don't earn much from the videos and I'm not sponsored, but I would like to give back, thanks for watching as always mate

Very informative video Tom . I think it’s time to lnvest in a new sweeping brush mate.
Do you reckon, I've had that one a while now, it's ideally for corners as the bristles have shaped perfectly

Do you need the blue expansion foam as well as the kings pan upstand ? Won’t the kingspan absorb the screed expansion? Great job.

Another great video Tom. I’m looking for someone to install an oil fired boiler in my self build, how far do u travel?
Thanks for the support Chris, I tend to stay fairly local if I can, I'm based in Lincolnshire
A really good watchable video Tom, with a perfect explanation of each step.
How deep will the screed be on this?
Thanks for the support as always Steve, around 40 to 50mm
