This ending is intentionally vague, and it's meant to end Iron Man but also leave the door open for him to come back. That was because Marvel's creative management was worried they were exhausting their characters. They were starting to think that the public had Iron Man burnout so they purposefully left the end as a cliff hanger, that way they could omit him from later movies. This same management fought against a Civil War and Black Panther movie because they felt that it wouldn't do well. Of course, by the time Civil War was being made they were kicked out and Feige had complete control.
Just imagine if these assholes were around to make Infinity War. Thanos would've probably been a generic evil villain like the Iron Monger with no real character motivation other than wanting to conquer the universe. It also seems to be implied that there were going to be only 4 infinity stones in Age of Ultron.
I can’t get over how good this ending is. Not even the biggest iron man 3 fan but it rlly has some stand out moments.

SKOOOTER17 Mandarin twist is my main problem tbh. It’s funny sure but Killian was a stupid villain and wasn’t intimidating in the slightest plus Tony the third act was a bit of a mess and didn’t feel like it knew what it was actually doing. In the end the hole extremis thing was just a little silly as it was so poorly executed. It was plot driving character instead of character driving plot which is a shame cuz there was massive chunks of this movie that were completely character driven by Tony Stark and I could’ve personally done with that the entire way as his PTSD and arc through out the movie were the most interesting thing about it. The problem with the antagonists and extremis is that it didn’t rlly help his arc at all

man up exactly, it literally felt like it could’ve been a movie with a completely different antagonist because those guys couldn’t have been taken out by Tony himself but instead his suits and well Pepper. If the point was proving he’s Iron man without his suits they should’ve proved it in the finale instead of only in the second act.
Not only is Iron Man 3 Tony Stark’s last solo outing, but it is also the last time we see Tony Stark with the arc reactor in his chest. As he no longer needed it to live, but still necessary to power up his suits. Simply put it, each Iron Man suit gets their own individual arc reactor.

@@karlraphaeeeel Wrong, he still uses the arc reactor that was in his chest all the way until the end of Iron Man 3. As Age of Ultron til Homecoming, the arc reactors are built into their suits.
@@ricardoortiz4870 Wrong, Tony had all of the suits have their own arc reactor to power them since Iron Man 2. It was to solve the problem he had at the final battle of the first movie, in which he didn't have enough power to use the Mk 3 at its full capacity to fight the Iron Monger.
He didn't start doing it after Iron Man 3 considering the Iron Legion and the Mk 42 is shown to have their arc reactor to power or else the suits would've been unable to fly from Malibu to where ever the port battle was. In addition, the Mk 2 was also seen sporting its own arc reactor in Iron Man 2.

Interesting fact about the final scene is that due to the injury that RDJ had on the set (breaking his foot) the final shot of him walking up to where his house was and throwing the arc reactor is actually his body double with Robert’s face composited on top and imo it looks almost completely seamless

You know, I just realised now that The Iron Man Trilogy is perfect for a reason. if you watch only the trilogy it works as a standalone story, and Iron Man 3 wraps up everything, literally if you make someone watch only the trilogy they will think that it's over, because the ending feels truly like a fitting ending to Tony's story. But if you watch the Avengers movies and Civil War, the journey of Tony Stark continues and ends with Endgame, with a sad but heroic sacrifice. This is beautiful, it's like you can choose what path Tony will take.
This was his turning point, stepping up to become Earth's best defender, protecting his people and living up to his fathers legacy

In some ways I miss the arc reactor in his chest symbolising “proof Tony Stark has a heart” but after seeing Endgame it’s clear that he didn’t need that. We can see his heart in the lives he touched along this epic journey and the ultimate sacrifice he made for everyone - even leaving his daughter behind in a world he saved. He is Iron Man, the tech is just the evolution of his mind - it can be updated and replaced - but the heart was always there. I love you 3000, Tony.

He lived 5 years with the arc reactor and he never decided to get surgery until 2013, for a a guy who can make armors he can’t decide to do the surgery early, he’s smart in big places but not in small ones.
Surgery is surgery. There is always risk of dying while under the knife. An artery could be cut, unknown bleeding source, your body might go into shock.
I would be apprehensive of any surgery even if I was a bazillionaire.

I remember seeing this scene got me emotional as a 10 yr old. Especially that arc reactor he threw was a piece of him that made him "Iron Man"
I love Ironman but the best movie will always be the first Ironman for how well it showed Tony creating mind, from the step by step designing the armor, which later movies completely ignored in substitute for quick suit ups and cheap laugh.
Sure seeing the designing process was cool, but I prefer Iron Man 3 because it delves into his newly troubled psyche, which causes him to build Ultron, which causes Civil War, which causes Infinity War, which causes Endgame.

Heck remember the Ironman quick one night stand in the first movie, notice Tony was never a ladies man after the first movie. 2 and 3 water Tony down to just comedy and new Ironman cosmetics armor.
Mr. Nunuisance I get what you mean when you say you dislike him with his quick suits ups now, but ey you cant really stop evolution and improvement. His suiting up used to take minutes and note, needed assistance from another person, to being able to utilize automated arms, (the mark 5 was a gateway to future portable suits) to suits (mark 7) flying towards tony then the iron legion suits not having to form a pod shape to suit him up AND fly towards him more efficiently. Again, I see why you miss the old clanking and clamping and whirring and buzzing of machinery, but you cant stop progress right?
@@hyperiondraft4510 I don't mind evolution and improvements, it just nothing to digest, if they spent a little explaining how Tony is making these new modifications like say some of the scenes from the first movie it would be fantastic. Just rewatch the scene in the first Ironman movie with him suiting up in MK 2, it a rush felling because you feel he accomplished something great. Making his suits fast is not the problem it's the execution on how the do it. If in the comics when the Bleeding edge first came on it was done right.

I think Tony Stark refers to himself as Iron Man rather than Tony Stark, so that he is remembered and thought of as someone that done good in the world.
Rather than Stark - which is strongly related to bombs and destruction.

In Ironman 2 the main theme of the movie is legacy and the past of stark industries, his father, whiplashs dad etc, Tony's whole arc is about Legacy. Even after becoming Ironman and almost sacrificing himself in New York the whole world still looks at him as destructive becuz of stark industries past legacy, up until he helps bring everyone back and sacrifices himself for the universe creating a brand New Legacy as savior of the universe

Tony stark character is the best character in marvel because character designed with all emotions like humour,comedy,sadness, anger, happiness and it comes into life only because of RDJ who portrayed and performed it well...love u 3000 times iron man

The last scene really tells us a lot about him. The best part about him aren't his suits, his "toys". The best part of him is he. He doesn't "have" Iron Man. He "is" Iron Man. When he picks up the screwdriver it's really a symbol of how he can build anything from nothing. Losing his house and "toys" isn't his end. It's the beginning of something new.
