Salsa Beargrease Fat Bike Upgrades for the Trail Project Test. We’ve often pondered what upgrades would help best turn our fat bike from more than just a winter ride into a more capable and fun year round trail bike. After watching a few fat bike owner regret videos on TH-cam, then suffering a flat tire which sidelined our Salsa Beargrease we decided to deck it out in our list of carefully thought out and somewhat affordable upgrades.
If you’re considering a similar project we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how much more performance is lurking in your fat bike. If you’re considering buying a new fat bike, fat bike regret doesn’t have to be a part of your life if you set the bike up right for your type of riding.

Alaskan fat tire bike rider here. I started biking doing freestyle bmx as a child. The kid in me now said we should bring it to the skatepark. I can actually do 180s on the quarter pipes and jump the box jump with it. In summer it’s mainly used to tow my kids around and go get groceries

Fat bikes are so much fun, and that looked like a perfect trail for it!

It used to get ridden on wet days when I didn't want to get the full suspension all grimy. Now it's just plain fun, especially on tight twisty trails. Fat bikes make great trail bikes once you set them up. Do you currently own a fat bike?

I want to say it was around 32 pounds. We would have to double check though.
