While not an over the top dream build, We've certainly been dreaming of performing these upgrades on our Salsa Beargrease for a few years. We can't wait to see how all the performance adds up in part 2. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

I have nothing but great things to say about Box Two Prime 9, felt with 9 is more than enough for me, & and will use them for Mtb use.

I've had a Box One 11s setup on my 9 year old Specialized Carbon Fatboy with zero issues. I use it with an Ethirteen 9-46 cassette.

We really appreciate hearing your feedback on the box drive train. Hopefully you'll check out part two of this video and see how it performed.

I love my Catalyst pedals too (and the Catalyst XLs I have on another bike). Wish they hadn't gotten so expensive, though.
I'm currently on a Fatback Rhino that I got with a 100mm Mastodon fork and 26x4.8" Jumbo Jims. I have wondered what it would be like to add some travel at the front, and wonder how much narrower tires might help with some things...but I really like the cushiness the big tires give over bumps (my other off road bike is a Jones that I just upgraded to 29x3.25s).
I threw on a 40 tooth oval ring from Wolftooth and an Eagle cassette and it's treated me pretty well......but I don't corner fast anyway.

Sounds like you have a couple of nice bikes. The Jumbo Jims look like they would be great performers. The tires and fork made a huge difference. Super pumped on how the bikes performance turned out.

Have you considered swapping the wheel set for summer riding to a 27.5x3 or 29x3? Be interested to know how close that gets it to a mtn bike feel.

I'd have to say we have considered it. Now we're thinking about it again. The tire swap made such a huge improvement while still providing compliance it almost seems unnecessary unnecessary. It would be a great experiment though.

Why use a wren? Just use a manitou

To answer your question, the Wren It's a little less expensive, If it's nice and rigid with very little flex, the travel is adjustable and the spring rate and ramp up are very tunable without going into the fork. We are sure that the manitou is a good fork but wanted to try something different. We paid retail by the way. If the sport was not sent for evaluation. So far so good. We did a review on this bike after we finished the build along with carving out the individual part that covered the fork.
