  • Rani Durgavati was a remarkable queen who ruled the kingdom of Gondwana in central India during the 16th century. She is remembered for her unwavering bravery and her commitment to her people, even in the face of great adversity. When her husband was killed in battle, Rani Durgavati took up the reins of defended her kingdom against the powerful Mughal Empire. She also championed the cause of women's rights and education, establishing schools for girls in her kingdom.
Despite her many accomplishments, Rani Durgavati is often forgotten in the annals of Indian history. Her story should be heard!

During my school days most of the history was entirely about Mughals and other invasions happened but these stories of king and queen from our own mother land are greatly excluded. Personally I feel most of the southern kings like chola, chera, pandiyas were literally ignored by the history books.

I hope this will going to change gradually with NEP. I was a PCM student and am now an engineer but history had always been a subject very near to my heart, even when in school, I used to read history as a story(even getting 90+ marks just saying😂). The last time I academically studied history is in class 10 NCERT, but now what I feel is we are taught the history of invaders a lot. Our history books just barely touched on Indian indigenous rulers. There is very little information on South Indian history and its rulers. I recently came across your channel, It's really praise-worthy that you are talking about "real Indian history" which should have been taught in schools. Hope to get many more Indian history narrations. thank you for your effort.

The wider region extends beyond these, also including parts of northern Telengana, western Odisha and southern Uttar Pradesh. It was ruled by Rajgond or Gonds who also served in the army of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Some historians mentioned that The Gondwana Kingdom was a barrier for Mughals to capture southern India . Many strong and brave kings ruled this kingdom . One of the oldest forts belonging to this kingdom is Bhadravati fort near Chandrapur which is believed to be 2000 years old and was built by Gond king Bhankyasingh many old idols of God and goddess were found there . They also ruled Chandrapur and Chandrapur fort and Mahakali temple was also built by them . Gond kings and Queens built several Forts and Temples during their entire rule . Rani Durgavati , Rani Kamlapati ( bhopal Railway station was recently named as Rani Kamlapati railway station, Rani Hirai of Chandrapur. 5 Princely states of Kawardha,Makrai, Raigarh,Sakti,Sarangarh were Added to India which were ruled by Gond kings . Their present generation still lives in the Palace. Brief history of Gondwana as Gondwana was not just limited to Madhya Pradesh it included The Gondwana region includes core region of eastern part of the Vidharbha of Maharashtra, (Garha Katanga(Mandla) + Deogarh+ Kherla, Kingdom) the parts of Madhya Pradesh immediately to the north of it, and parts of the west of Chhattisgarh. Thanks to you Keerti
We got to know about the story of such a brave fearless Queen it is a shame we can't learn this in our textbooks at school. I hope someone should address this shortly so we can understand more heroic sacrifices and stories of our kings and queens rather than those invaders who left nothing but destruction starvation and widows behind.

This literally shook me from inside 😶
I wish we had teachers like u in our school years, History would have been one of the most interesting, loved and opted subjects. Moreover knowing about stories like this one I don't know for how many people in the upcoming generation specially females out there in the country Rani Durgavati and others who sacrificed their life (instead of just falling prey to the barbaric mughals) would have been the idol.
Like ChandraShekharAzad they also let not there freedom governed by the ememy power.
And this is just one of the stories, We have history full of valour and bravery. The only thing is how we study it 'From Indian perspective not the Mughal perpective'.
    Jai Hind🇮🇳
