Welcome to the 3-part special on the story of Shivaji Maharaj, always waited to present this to the audience. Our guest today is Medha Bhaskaran, a microbiologist, an author, and another all-star of The Ranveer Show. The wealth of knowledge she has is truly incredible, honoured to host Medha ma'am at our space for such fantastic episodes we created with her. In this episode, we go into the depths of the Mughal empire, before the Shivaji Maharaj era, and what was the country's socio-economic status back then, what was the reality of the kings and the emperors who ruled our land mass. REAL Stories Of Indian History Uncovered - Watch out.
Medha Bhaskaran, from the year 2000 onwards, started studying Mughal Maratha history as she felt passionate about it. More than a hundred books were referred to, forts visited, and discussions with historians, weapon experts and other people involved in the subjects continued. She is the author of Shivaji's bestselling biography, Challenging Destiny. Amazon Link: www.amazon.in/Challenging-Des...
This episode is a 3-part conversation starting from the rule of the Mughal Empire, before the Shivaji Maharaj era, then part 2 where we talk about the times when India saw the rise of Shivaji Maharaj, and then comes part 3 where we talk about his final vision. Stay Tuned as Part 2 and Part 3 of this series will be released in the following two Tuesdays of the Month of October.

They ruled mostly delhi . And delhi wasn't of that much importance back then . It's only later after kolkata delhi became the capital. And no muslims has ruled us it's a myth lie created by leftists distortions in service of congress.

The Moghuls were outsiders to India who claimed Mongolian ancestry from Tamerlane and Genghis Khan. Not just in India, in many places when their are outside rulers, they tend to be cruel and uncaring of local indigenous cultures and peoples. The Moghuls, like most outside colonizers, ran an extractive economy that took from the local people. Contrast that to indigenous empires like Ahom, Chola or Vijayanagara where living conditions for the average person benefitted.

That's why there have always been controversies associated with all historical fictions made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Directors like him have twisted the stories in the name freedom of creativity doing gross injustice to the characters whose names and characters were based on real people who existed. There is one thing to be inspired by a historical figure create a fictional story loosely based on them. But it's another thing to take a historical figure in its entirety and completely change the intent and execution of the decisions they took in those times or to fabricate false relationship stories about them that never existed.

If Alexander and Ashoka, despite butchering millions can be Great, why can’t be Akbar. Akbar was Great because of his tolerance and respect towards other religions. He even tried to unite all under one religion Deen e ilahi, which was failure. Rajputs flourished under his reign and so their religion.

I see Bollywood as a primarily tool to control domestic narratives. The usual trope being sterilize the majority community by challenging their faith, practices etc and glorify only the minority abrahamic faiths. Minority Indic faiths like Buddhism and Jainism are not even mentioned at all and Sikh characters are stereotyped and used for comic relief.

@@mAviralbhanu that's true. The message sometimes is not clear. But there are many movie makers who successfully announced indirectly that it's thier perception of the whole event.

Watching a movie expecting that it's true story is kind of funny, that's why the disclaimer is given at the start of all movies...am not saying movies won't influence ppl, it will influence that's the fact, but art is art, the creator has some freedom he can twist and turn it...the movie is evaluated not by its exact minute depiction of facts only it's about the art form, acting, techniques and if it's not distorting the facts completely then it should be okay.
Now what is the truth, no one really knows...
Everyone are good for someone and bad for someothers, all kings with some ambition were cruel to many masses, they used to conquer, kill, rape and use ppl. They ruled as they seemed fit...many raided other territories including the Marathas, Tippu, Cholas, Guptas, everyone...that was the way of Life then.
What is treated as greatness or what defined greatness in those times were whether they ruled a massive territory or whether they were feared and respected by the majority... whether they commissioned great art and architecture during their reign...whether their Cities were renowned and multi cultural and that was the norm...in that aspect India had many great kings and Akbar was one of them.
So if u say some king was cruel then including Ashoka they were all cruel to someone at some point...and no one is great...anyone with power over masses tend to use it.. against them...that's the fact.
Depiction should not be biased that's true, and to an extent i can understand what's she sayn but i think she is also biased...

    NO ruler was perfect.
There are great aspects to Akbar and bad aspects too.
But painting anyone in one color is terrible.
Mughals, marathas, sikhs, cholas, guptas, mauryas and many others had good and bad acts.
Speaking the truth is tough because indian audience lacks the guts to take criticism.

Well well well, there's no dynasty other than Chola which ruled for more than 2000 years according to the latest archaeological evidences. And if you wanna more about which dynasty or King had more good or bad aspects just check out the legitimate sites.

We Indian are hypocrites. We admires western realistic movies but if we made such movies in India we don’t watch it hence producer has to modify the story making more interesting far from truth. In the end movie is a business and it needs to generate money.see what happened to movies like section 375..
