True, bigger wheels aren't always better but wider wheels typically bring more grip which is what I was looking for. They are also a lot cooler looking, which was what I was looking or in high school.

He’s owned many Stangs since I was a little girl, especially classics. So I had no choice but to get hooked 😝
Thats awesome! It's always cool to have a family interest. How is your color holding up? Mine is beginning to fade, but Ford red fades bad, especially laser red. Also, you can look up the "recommended" tire size for wheels, and if you have the stock wheels I think they are 17x8's so a 255 is what I believe fits them. The wheels on mine are 17 x 10.5s
Thanks for the info! And yes mine has faded over the yrs but not bad actually. I used to park it in direct sunlight for many yrs- that’s the main reason I guess. Now I park it in the garage. It damage is done. So will need a paint job if I decide to keep this one much longer
If its in decent shape I'd say go for it. The key is to check for rust in the rear quarters, under the doors, and then make sure it doesn't have any major driveability issues. The 4.6l V8's are pretty reliable
Briggs Automotive nice man, I did an irs in my 94. Didn’t end up liking it though the car never felt the same. Maybe I should of did the bushings at the same time. 🤷♂️
Well crap dude, that sucks... What felt different about it, and what was the IRS out of? Everything I've read has said that the bushings make a night and day difference, which is why i'm swapping them before it even goes in the car, I don't want to have to take it out again...
Briggs Automotive it was out of a 99. Wasn’t trying to drag race so that’s why I went with just a 99. But I would say it felt weird probably for the fact the bushings were probably worn and the car felt heavier for sure but if you have more power the extra weight won’t really matter much
Yeah thats what I'm hoping, I had to lift the whole IRS into the back of a truck by hand and holy smokes its heavy. Yeah the 99s are okay if you don't have a lot of power and don't plan on beating on it. They don't have the front diff brace from the factory so the differential is more likely to flop around which could have caused some weird feelings too.
caden 807 The IRS alone was about 950 I believe, but none of the bushings had been changed over, which I would suggest doing if you are going to be running any kind of power
The 17" rims destroys the ride comfort! 15" with wider tire is way better than getting beat up by those 17" rims and rubber bands. And going bigger than 17" is just plain nuts.
I honestly couldn't tell a difference with ride quality from the stock wheel/tires to these 17's. I felt more of a difference in ride quality when changing shocks. Plus with the IRS I installed its difficult to install 15's. Additionally, while it is a personal preference, I like the way the 17's look over most 15's although there are exceptions to that
Ooh, is it an early 01 or a late one? Mid year Ford went from the Windsor to the Romeo 4.6, and then swapped the transmission to a TR-3650 (which is a better transmission, in my opinion). As long as it hasnt been molested by a body kit or something I bet its worth between 12 and 14 maybe more
Tony Riccio Alright, well if you guys are interested in seeing a review I’ll do one, it may be a little while. I’m trying to finish editing one about street rod nationals that will be up soon. I got slammed with school...
Grant Whitney What year and is yours a solid axle car? If yours is a new edge the solid axle cars should fit a big tire in the back, if you have the IRS you’ll need to fiddle with some spacers or something. My fronts wheel/tires are: 17x9 with a 275, and the rears are a 17x10.5 with a 315. And I’ve never had the rears rub, the fronts rub the K-member at the back, and the sway bar at the front very minimally at full lock
Briggs Automotive yes mines a solid axle, and what offset are they? Do you think 18s would be any different or harder to fit? Thanks for the help man i appreciate it
No problem dude, anytime! Your choice in wheel size basically would depend on what you are planning on doing in the future. I would say 18s would fit better if you plan on putting larger brakes on it, plus it would help get over the IRS bolt if you want to do an IRS swap. The fronts have a 6.2 inch back spacing, and the rears have a 6.8 inch back spacing. Honestly I think the 17s work fine, but if I knew what you were planning on doing to the car I might be able to help more, its totally up to you
Yeah, if you are planning on running road courses and larger brakes 18s will give you room, I made that mistake when buying mine I don't know if 17s are going to work or not. Every car is different for what I understand, it depends on how low you want the car to be and if the tires rub. I will say if you have a solid axle and are on coils theres a very good possibility you'll have to roll them
Ford’s 4.6 is one of the better lasting engines. They threw the 4.6 2 valves in explorers and in the mustangs and I’ve seen explorers with over 200k. The lifetime of the engine basically comes down to maintenance and how well the user takes care of it
Duuuuuuude, that's a serious deal. I'm seeing them with more miles than that going for $6,000. I'm trying to grab one myself, but not for that much with 100k+ miles
The Oldsmobile was pretty clean I did a water pump on it and tiresband brakes all around. The guy that had my mustang crashed his wife's truck with they needed an auto with ac and 4 doors. Turns out their daughter's name was Aurora so it was a pretty crazy turn out. But the mustang didn't run right that's why I got it. It needed a fuel pump, spark plugs, coils, EGR valve, and a fuel injector. It runs great now and strong. My first mustang and I like it.
i hot a better still i a 2000 mustang gt with 87k miles for only 1500 and the owner did some stuff to it i got it dyno tested and it came out at 560 hp
That is straight bullshit spewed out of your mouth. A 2v couldn’t even handle 560hp. Either that motor is fully built and boosted, or your straight up lying.
Leevi Hernandez the motor could handle that power but it needs more than what ur saying is done to it buddy you sure the dyno sheet said that or was it 250 lol
Don't disagree in stock form, but people tend to be less forgiving when you cut one of those up. They care less about the GTs so I can make this car what I want and I won't feel as bad about it later
@@briggsautomotive1559 I agree with you as well, but I think the New Edge gets this reputation of being slow cheap cars, and that's just not the case. I like the new 5.0s but the New Edge has a certain almost classic feel to it. My EcoBoost F150 can smoke a coyote so it really comes down to how it looks, drives and the history behind it. Id rather have a really nice New Edge any day. GT too, as you've pointed out.
sydliz1126 we’ll definitely I agree with that. I’ve ridden in both an S197 coyote, and an S550 coyote, they are significantly nicer riding and don’t feel as cheap, but I would rather have a new edge because of the history like you said. I plan on keeping mine to be able to say I still have my first car
Gunner I’m a little weary of autocross, it would be more fun to take it to a road course but I don’t think I, nor the car are ready for that... I can actually rev-match the GT pretty well, it has a decent enough throttle response, the cobra not so much
In looking to get a GT soon, I’m 17 and surprisingly the GT was cheaper on insurance. I asked why and they said V6s tend to crash more (makes sense because more were made)

Thanks!
Been offered one for 7 grand with 120k km. Is that a good offer? Its sitting on 20” rims which is shit but other than that
It’s a driver but not in the rain and snow I try very hard not to rain or snow
What color code is that paint?
It’s E9 laser red, though it’s slightly faded in some spots
Nice build you got going. Subscribed to see how the build turns out 👍🏻
Thanks man! I'm uploading a video here in a few hours, and then the next one will be the start of my IRS series.
That is still such a great looking car
I appreciate it, hopefully it will look even better when I'm "done"
The stock 2000 Mustang GT's come with 17'' wheels.
How much was the irs rear end? Have a v6 mustang with a LS waiting to go in it, need something a little more beefy than the 7.5 lol
caden 807 The IRS alone was about 950 I believe, but none of the bushings had been changed over, which I would suggest doing if you are going to be running any kind of power
Additionally, while it is a personal preference, I like the way the 17's look over most 15's although there are exceptions to that
Ur dad has a terminator! That’s so dope
Yeah he does! It’s an awesome car
What exhaust setup does it have?
It currenty has stock exhaust manifolds, a bassani off-road x-pipe, and magnaflow IRS catback with the oval mufflers
What do you think a 2001 GT convertible with 10,488 miles would be worth? I’m not selling just curious.
Ooh, is it an early 01 or a late one? Mid year Ford went from the Windsor to the Romeo 4.6, and then swapped the transmission to a TR-3650 (which is a better transmission, in my opinion). As long as it hasnt been molested by a body kit or something I bet its worth between 12 and 14 maybe more
Tony Riccio wow! I didn’t know they were worth that much over there
Tony Riccio well dang that’s a ton, eventually I’ll do a review of my dads terminator. I wonder how much it would be worth up there
Tony Riccio Alright, well if you guys are interested in seeing a review I’ll do one, it may be a little while. I’m trying to finish editing one about street rod nationals that will be up soon. I got slammed with school...
I got mine mustang 2000 gt $14000 w/ 22000 miles frome estate sale
Wow both are dads had termis, what badasses
Plate what has your dad done to his?
What are your wheels specs? Looking at buying new wheels for mine and i want the widest possible with the right offset without rubbing.
Honestly I think the 17s work fine, but if I knew what you were planning on doing to the car I might be able to help more, its totally up to you
Briggs Automotive ill prob go 18s then cause ill be taking the car on road courses when its ready, if im on coils will i need to roll the fenders?
Yeah, if you are planning on running road courses and larger brakes 18s will give you room, I made that mistake when buying mine I don't know if 17s are going to work or not. Every car is different for what I understand, it depends on how low you want the car to be and if the tires rub. I will say if you have a solid axle and are on coils theres a very good possibility you'll have to roll them
Congratulations on ur ride really sharp 🇺🇸 MERICA
Marty Collins thanks man
So I can tell you like cars, but what’s your opinion on trains? Would you call yourself perhaps, a train fan?
Do you know how long do these live like do run till 180k miles
Ford’s 4.6 is one of the better lasting engines. They threw the 4.6 2 valves in explorers and in the mustangs and I’ve seen explorers with over 200k. The lifetime of the engine basically comes down to maintenance and how well the user takes care of it
I'm at 195,000 in my 2000 GT. No problems whatsoever, I also have a 1998 v6 that I daily drive with 285,000.... So I think you'll be ok lol
mine has 210k
Look real good
I bought my 03 for 2.600dols he wanted 3.000dols but i got him down to 2.600
Just got a 2000 gt with 130k miles on it 🤩 just for 3200
Best wheels ever made for the mustang
They the same size as the aftermarket wheels 17 inches
Yeah they are, I realized that after I posted the video
I bought mine with 33,000 miles for 10,900
I got mine for 800😂. Needs some paint but she’s alright
Mine needs a repaint too, that isn't awful though!
I got mine for 1500 with 120k miles on it lol
Dang, nicely done!
Duuuuuuude, that's a serious deal. I'm seeing them with more miles than that going for $6,000. I'm trying to grab one myself, but not for that much with 100k+ miles
Jose A. Romo aye bro I searched for a long time I looked everywhere and drove 3 hours for it
Yea Im buying one with 165k for 1500
Buuda Buuda yeah man that’s a good deal
I just traded my Oldsmobile Aurora for a 2003 mustang GT lmao.
Not bad, I think you came out with the better car
Dang man, thats a steal. What all had been done to it?
perfomance tune up race fuel in jecters and somthin else
That is straight bullshit spewed out of your mouth. A 2v couldn’t even handle 560hp. Either that motor is fully built and boosted, or your straight up lying.
Leevi Hernandez the motor could handle that power but it needs more than what ur saying is done to it buddy you sure the dyno sheet said that or was it 250 lol
Lmao, dude he's full of shit and just joking. I hope you didn't think he was serious.
Dam I payed 8k at a dealer for my gt 😒
Chris Morales , You Would've Saved More From A Private Owner.
Got mines for 500$ put a 300$ crown vic motor in it and she's runs
Congrats! Those crown vic motors are easy to get
GTs are okay, but the Dark Highland Green Bullitt, Mach 1 or SVT Cobra are SOOO much better.
Got mine for 2100 with 107k miles
Sweet! Where at?
Need to learn how to shift if ur going to do autocross
Gunner I’m a little weary of autocross, it would be more fun to take it to a road course but I don’t think I, nor the car are ready for that... I can actually rev-match the GT pretty well, it has a decent enough throttle response, the cobra not so much
Good luck
Jesse Allen thanks!
I just bought my V6 for 3000. It’s my first car, I wanted the GT but i have to pay my own insurance so I went with my V6, it has like 125k on it.
Isaiah Armjo 3000 isn’t bad, the insurance would kill you in a GT for sure. Are you enjoying it?
In looking to get a GT soon, I’m 17 and surprisingly the GT was cheaper on insurance. I asked why and they said V6s tend to crash more (makes sense because more were made)
I just my my 2000 for 800
One thing I learned from this car is ford was lazy ass hell when making this engine
What do you mean by that?
Briggs Automotive ford got lazy when it came to spark plugs from 99-02 the threading is garbage and would sometimes shoot out which happened to me when driving at a cool 75 mph they didn’t add extra threads till 03/04
Love how low your sound is dead ass
Haha the exhaust?
Your Dad has cassette tapes
My dad got one from a family members divorced husband
You paid to much for that car
Awesome Dude what did you pay for yours/what should I have paid?
I think it's a decent price. I got a 99 GT for $3,000. 115,000 miles
Christain King in Atlanta you can hardly find one with that low miles under 6k
@@matthewmullins55 fr, 99-04 gt cost more then 05-08 gt in the soouthwest. New mexico, texas Arizona and Colorado
@@briggsautomotive1559 5000 is not bad for a really clean one
1993 interior 😅
@Tygah yes
@Tygah I got a 2000 GT
First thing this dude does to his Mustang is get new wheels? Disgraceful
What would you do instead? Exhaust? I didn't like the way it looked with the stock wheels, plus the tires were bald so it only made sense
What’s wrong with that...
So I can tell you like cars, but what’s your opinion on trains? Would you call yourself perhaps, a train fan?
