    I hate how these kids beauty peagents make these children look like adults and act like them. Like honestly most of these little girls wear more make-up than a teenager and I don't think that's right.

      +Denisse Gonzales Shit, to be honest no matter how much modern technology you use, if someone is physically incapable of giving birth to the kid they carry, that's the end of it unless you plan on cutting the mother open. This option likely is dangerous too.
      I agree 1000% that parents need to stop being overprotective with their kids. This extends all the way to teenage years, seeing as they're trying to get rid of sex education from schools. Not like there isn't overwhelming evidence that this is actually detrimental, but I digress.
      I just think that parents only care about their own feelings and shield their children in hopes that they won't repeat mistakes the parents made or mistakes the parents have watched others make. Of course, this is both impossible and ineffective. Just a shame, really.

      "Besides, the things that happen in fairy tales are dated, unrealistic, and sometimes barbaric."
      What if we replace "barbaric" with "Barbie-ic?"
      Get it? Cause the kids look like FRICKN BARBIE DOLLS??

      You are so right... At 21 years old, a friend if mine asked me if I wanted to be a contestant in a beauty pageant. I never considered myself to be a model but I did consider myself as pretty and fit so I was like yea sure why not... I did not even made it to top 5... since then, I've gained a few pounds but not much that people can tell and I doubt myself to the point I hide in clothes now. I refuse to show my skin even in the pool...My self esteem is pretty low although people around me people do not think I changed physically at all. I am working on that since I did figure out that it was since that competition my mentality changed... I am 27 now, it's been 6 years and I am still working on my self esteem..... IMAGINE if it was a KID!! I can't even think about it...

    People get so upset about child trafficking, abuse, ect, but isn't that what these parents are doing? Pimping out their child for awards, money & fame. Even when the child says that they don't want to participate, the parent doesn't seem to care & continues on. The 'looser' is berated & perhaps even punished. The participating adults should be ashamed of themselves!

      funny thing. I was watching a series describing the inappropriate sexualization of children in our society., TH-cam was on auto play, and I eneded up watching quite a few things that showed the issue with these pagents. Then, a video of little girls dancing came up. I thought it was from the series I was watching and wrote that "they aren't swimming, or getting ready for bed in their underwear, so why the hell are these little girls dressed and gyrating like this? I made my comment, but found out quickly that the video WASNT from the set I was watching but rather a video posted by the moms of the girls. they were FURIOUS by what I said. When I explained that their video came after a LIST OF VIDEOS OF THE INPORTANCE OF NOT SEXUALIZING THEIR KIDS and that I thought this was another documentary, they REALLY LOST THEIR SHIT. I learned real quick that it just depends what video you are watching. this is a relatively liberal channel and its not shocking that most veiwers here have a serious issue with child pagents. anyway I guess I just think its crazy that the moms dont seem to notice.

    I was in pageants as a baby but it was a local pageant that didn't allow all the glitz and glamour. It was a totally natural pageant and it really was for stay-at-home mom's to have some fun with their children. I didn't do anymore after I turned 4 because I moved away but apparently I liked being in the pageants. I didn't have to follow any kind of routine and I just got to jump around on stage in a pretty dress my grandma made me.

I lived with my grandmother who was captain of the high school cheer squad. The end.

    Kid beauty pageants are *SO* beyond morbid! I could write more than 15 books filled to the brim with reasons why! Who's idea was it to but toddlers in stripper costumes, heavy makeup, high-heels, and wigs and make them perform in the majority of cases almost or just plainly against their will!? What ever happened to beauty within, Or motherly love!?

    Pageants are so cruel to children. It's heartbreaking to see them wearing skimpy outfits, caking them in makeup, and winking at the cameras, having no real idea of what they are actually doing. It ruins children entirely, either destroying their self-esteem, or making them spoilt little brats. These should be banned.

    There are things called natural pageants. They usually are for toddlers all the way up to about 15 years old. In natural pageants, makeup it's banned unless you are in the older category (teens), and then only very light makeup, like a bit of lip gloss, that sort of thing. The girls in these natural pageants have to look very, well natural, it's judging your natural beauty and talent, like being a very good violinist, for example.

      Yeah but there is still the pressure of being judged on how pretty you are, and how good you are at something. How does this help them, if I had a daughter or son and they wanted to do it I would let them but I will not force a thing that could ruin all their self esteem on them. Natural pageants still tell you that you should be skinny and pretty and blemishes and flaws make you feel even worse.

I'm just saying this because not all pageants are this crazy. They have actually made friends from all over the state. My girls cheer and congratulate the winners and know you win some and lose some but they will still say, I'm still beautiful but so we're there (the winner).

    Sadly, many mothers are like this. They force their children and give up everything for beauty even if they are just toddlers. Pageants, in my opinion, are not the best choice for kids especially toddlers! Some moms go way too far and give up their kid's health like TheTalko mentioned in the video. The parents should let the kids decide whether or not they want to be in a beauty pageant. And the stupid excuse is parents just sign toddlers and younger children up because they can't respond or they don't have a mind of their own. That's the point. If they don't, that means you should atleast wait until they're older and I'm sure they will respond to you about your idea. When kids are in pageant at young age, they look at other "barbies" and use them as role models. This ruins their childhood. But if they want to do it, I have nothing against that. But you should not risk your child's health and force them to enter a pageant. Like I said, I am just stating my opinion.

    I'm glad my mom *NEVER* put me into a beauty pageant!
    I honestly disagree with putting young children into competitions such as pageants, also by young children I mean children of the ages of 2-9, of which the ages I know personally children will most likely be manipulated to doing what their parents/older people say will make them happy and they will be less likely to be able to make choices for themselves.
    Beauty is *NOT* everything, what is best for *YOU*, your health, your life, and your dreams is what should truly matter, although many people may disagree with me.
    I've seen time and time again, that young girls should look feminine, and young boys should look masculine, it's very frustrating to me that people won't let them look how they choose to and say to girls, I've heard this from teachers in the past, the more feminine your little girl is, they will be less likely to be bullied and be more popular, this made me so mad that they had told me to dress how they told me, I had dress the most masculine I could, honestly doing that made me feel that I wouldn't let people step over me, although the teacher tried to get me detention for doing this, later the teacher was fired for doing that. All I can say is, don't let people stop you from being who you are, unless it is *COMPLETELY ILLEGAL*, such as prostitution, drug dealer, murderer ect.
    I never let anyone stop me from being an art student and student in the study of entomology, the study of insects, it defers from arachnology, the study of arachnids, and I've turned out fine at the age of 13 currently, and its a hard road to go through but never stop doing what you want to pursue in your life, you could just be the next Albert Einstein!

      Very, very true. Pageants tend to teach kids bad things like how it is okay to wear way too much makeup, how it is okay to show lots of skin in public, and quite a few other things. I am not against people wearing make-up, but these kids will not have the ability to embrace their inner beauty. Showing lots of skin is what I am against, as I believe that no one should see all of that in public (At least, I don't like seeing almost all of the girl's chest) 4-H seems to nudge the child to what they are most interested in and also helping them become a better person like what you stated. Originally, before I was in 4-H, I was a shy person. Would hardly say a word to a stranger or to even someone I know. Now that I am in it, I can talk to a person with no problems.
      What these parents should do is just step the hell back and find out what their child is most interested in instead of going for the money/trophy/ribbon/crown/fame. These children seem young, so they won't know exactly what they are most interested in, but let them find out. If they want to do something around modeling, then by all means guide them towards that direction. If they want to do something involving, I don't know, theater, racing, cooking, what ever, then do what the child wishes instead of forcing them into something they don't want to do. It will make it better for both the parent and the child.

    • @ari3lz3pp3lin
      @ari3lz3pp3lin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shouldn't even be a limit. They should not be allowed unless it's all about natural beauty! I WAS apparently in one when I was about two but my family just had me as clean as possible (bath, washed hair...brushed teeth) and in a pretty (probably $20) dress. I got 2nd place. lol Even if that happened to me throughout my childhood I don't think I would give a damn. I was a kid. lol I would have wanted to go out and play and would not have super self esteem because some judges I don't know said I was the prettiest or w/e.
      BUT yeah...if people need the pageants then they shouldn't be allowed to use fake crap; tans, fake teeth, body gems, waxing......I wish it would even be against rules for them to "gogojuice" up their kids but that could be done without anyone knowing. People don't realize how bad processed sugar is itself...even for adults let alone cramming it down a kid's throat and interrupting their healthy and normal bodily processes.
      I think it's also nuts when people use hot hair tools on a child that is under 6..and I wouldn't use them on my kid til much later. Maybe let them try around age 8 for fun if they kept asking. Children should know that stuff can be fun but not to use it as a crutch. If you can't be comfortable with your looks as a minor then you are not ready to wear make up/ change your hair color/texture...etc. That's my opinion. Obviously. lol

      Yeah it's sad but it's how our society has been for decades+. ("clothes"*..."How it rolls"* ;) ) It's good for you if you realize it's silly. I sadly alternated in between wanting to be "attractive" physically and just caring about school. Tried to do both and sadly it can be difficult when a bunch of jerks think it looks uncool to "try too hard" (aka study...be smart). But I regret not doing better for myself and focusing on grades because it does matter. The people not worried about their grades and knowing how to build respectful relationships with mentors are going to regret it big time. You stay classy and remember what's important. (You can be attractive without being all gussied up. It's about what's inside attracting others...that stuff doesn't wash off)

    I am 13 and I do pageants. It depends on what system. These are like toddlers and tiaras, but national American Miss, Princess Of America, Royal International Miss and more work to grow your confidence. They teach you public speaking and how to respond in job interviews. Toddler and Tiara always ruins the name of pageantry because most are so much more and less!!

    Someone needs to do an all natural beauty entree to a pageant. It would do more for self esteem than caking on the make-up and change the child's natural appearance. Something that make it so preparation can be done in less than an hour so they can sleep longer and be rested. To do what so many parents do to their children in most pageants is no better than torture and emotional and physical abuse. It's not right. There should also be an age limit for pageants. There's other ways to help boost self esteem like maybe dance classes or a sport. Maybe even learning a martial art.

      Gabrielle Fike the part about torture and child abuse I think you have a point but the kids don't really know what it is. What I mean is that it will only really affect them when they're older which by then they may have realised that and the parents will be the ones they blame.

  • @anyanovozhilova549
    @anyanovozhilova549 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    These beauty pageants are horrible! The message it sends to the kids is the worst. Some kids may think that their parents aren't doing enough for them because they see other girls their age on TV in tiny skirts and tops wearing tiaras, and they think "why can't Mommy do that for me? I'm as pretty as those girl." Soon all they'll want is to be famously beautiful.
    If the child gets into the routine of not getting enough sleep and spending most of her time on looking perfect, walking perfect and acting perfect, she'll think it's normal and do it as she grows up. She might even comment on other peoples appearance not being as good as hers in the future because of how much beauty meant in the pageants.

    I've always fought with my mum because I really don't want to wear prissy pink tutus and dresses. I've always been a somewhat girly girl at times or a walk on the boy side. The thing is that I really don't care about appearance or what anyone thinks about me I always said don't listen to those who make fun of you because of your appearance, it really doesn't make any sense to me. To be honest I am happy just wearing sweatpants and a hoodie or t-shirt. What I'm really trying to say is to be happy, be yourself, and don't listen to those who make fun of you because of your appearance. Other than that have a fantastic day!😊😀
