Why do people think beauty competitions are bad? getting dolled up and glamorous is fun and is actually isn't that bad. some kids like my cousin dreamed of doing these kind of things and is pretty rewarding. like getting to know people and I know beauty isn't everything but you should at least try to look your best. And people are always pointing out the bad things in these things but never seem to shine light on the good things.
Most of the kids don’t like it. Parents are selfish. The money could be spend better.

And the worst is that they spend thousands of dollars, and then comes another person with more money and give it to the organizers and judges in order that their children gets the crown. In other words, they buy the organizers and judges. Most of those pageants are fixed.

Go to a real pageant or compete in one if it helps but this is not the reality of things and you shouldn’t judge a pageant based on a video or TV shows or anything that you might’ve seen on the media. I have never met anybody who’s done Botox in beauty pageants. Even in glitz pageants not a single person would go that far. In reality it helps build confidence. though some people have some negative experiences, but for the most part it’s pretty fun. Also pageants are judged based on elegance talent and confidence basically qualities that are very good and important for people to have and grow up with.
All the pressure and the nerve wrecking preparation. I am an adult and I always have a hard time before photoshootings or runways. This is just... too much for a kid to handle 😕 Not as easy as it seems.
People telling you to smile, stay fierce, denying ourselves food (one of the biggest joys of life) and walk with grace. 😕
Gregory Kola I know I was visiting my cousin in America and went to see her in a pageant. Where I'm from we don't have kids pageants to my knowledge and I was shocked. One girl was crying because she didn't want to do it and another was getting sick in the corner.
anonymous 1 It's terrible. Especially for kids. I always think about the self esteem problems they have in the following years and the questions that pop up in their little beautiful and naive heads : "Why didn't I win ? Am I not beautiful enough ? Am I ugly ?"

Gregory Kola Terrible is the best way to describe it, I'm glad they don't advertise it in my country. I belive it also has a social class statement to be in a pageant and that's wrong teaching a child that beauty brings up your social class.

My sister loved being in a beauty pageant. Not every kid is "forced" to do it. Some people genuinely like it.

I feel so bad for these kids. Seeing them cry whilst getting their eyebrows waxed, and getting their makeup done, it just breaks my heart.
None of these girls are beautiful with ten pounds of makeup on. I'm literally sick to my stomach. This is why the world is so corrupted, because people spend thousands of dollars to make their kids fake and basically dolls. Please let them be kids and pray for the "kids" and "parents" the girl was literally pushed down by her mom. This is horrible. And the other girl was pushed to the point of crying out in pain from her coach. This is so corrupt

When I was a toddler I thought everyone was beautiful in their own way and sometimes I would be mad when I saw my mom wearing makeup and would tell her she was beautiful without it.
I mean it would seem fun but botox! The only thing i would like is dressing up and pictures ,nails,hair and make up

Poor girls. For me, those pageants are the result of some moms that are frustrated beauty queens and force their daughters to be beauty queens, no matter what.
I don't mind kids getting dressed up in a fancy dress and dancing around on a stage, but this is taking it too far.

I am an Irish dancer and like any sport it cost a lot. We have to do some of the same things. We do not do face injections we just have very nice dress nice make up and wigs
If you want to know look up photos or watch the movie jig. Even though tlc made it look bad. It is a very active sport and really keeps you in shape

Yes it is, because the child is too young to have the insight into what they are really exposing themselves to. It’s a parents job to guide their children and teach them what is important, and they’re failing to do so.

I love all the sparkly dresses, hate the fact that these girls are literally being tortured and their self esteem gets absolutely ruined by the pageants, or they turn into shallow girls who don't care about anything other than how you look. It's horrible, and most of the time it's not even the girls' faults.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the few young lads who regularly traverse the USA to attend pageants ,& "strut their stuff". They seem to be able to be mates until they hit the stage as rivals.Perfectly happy to "chill" together when off stage. Interesting to compare the girls & their experiences to the "diluted" version for the lads. With the very few boys there's not much surprising in the distribution of prizes to 2,3 or 4 boys. I saw 1 video when there was only 1 boy attending!! His folks had moved to a bigger house so he had 1 room dedicated to him almost like a shrine!! I did notice that the boys were FAR less a pain in the butt on an emotional & spiritual level. THEY WOULD PLAY VIDEO GAMES TOGETHER IN THEIR DOWN TIME. No diva tantrums.
I wonder if those who bonded have stayed in touch.It would be lovely if they had each other to share happy memories with.

I am shocked about how much they lied and kids glitz pageants arent bad they are actually much better than how toddlers and tiaras and the talko made it out to be it is a great way to make friends.and meet new people.There is not that much make up that goes into it anymore and spray tanning is jsut to make them not washed out by the lights also the flipper is to make there teeth bigger and make them more noticeable because the judges are so far away and the coaching is to help them win and they try and make things difficult for the kids so they stand out so glitz pageants arent bad they are just a fun activity thhey o on the weekend and the main cost of everything you are bound to spend is at most 10,000 so calm down

My teen daughter was in a few pageants. We got most of her dresses either on eBay (no more than $20 each) or Goodwill. It wasn't about winning, it was something she wanted to do and it did wonders for her self-esteem. The last pageant was a semi-glitz and I saw some of these things done. My daughter went out there as herself, with makeup done by my friend's little sister (who is a model in NYC). Something happened there though that soured her on pageants and she refuses to do any more. I did her photos myself, and even do photos for another contestant now. If you have a camera and GIMP/Photoshop/PicMonkey you can do the editing yourself.
